These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs.

Currently I’m maintaining at 9st 2lb but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

DD also said my tummy looks flatter.

biscuitcat · 22/08/2025 08:31

Well done @PatienceOfEngels! That potato dish sounds lovely if you have a recipe?

DH was after chips so we ended up having steak, chips, spinach and peppercorn sauce - very delicious it was too! I think I probably eeked over my calories as I basted the steak in butter etc, but everything was homemade and wholesome, and so filling that I had no urge to snack afterwards.

CarrotVan · 22/08/2025 10:02

SW 91kg
CW 89.1kg
GW 65kg

1.9kg in a week and a half, despite my period

dayslikethese1 · 22/08/2025 11:19

Down another 2lbs this week (Friday is my weigh day), wasn't expecting anything due to TOTM bloat but I've been drinking plenty of water and eating good gut stuff like kimchi and kefir and I think maybe that helped. The fact that I've barely changed what I eat since I started tracking really proves that my excess weight was mostly alcohol which is truly shameful. My recycling is way less embarrassing now I've cut back.

dayslikethese1 · 22/08/2025 11:20

Glad you remembered the curry marshmellow I love curry the next day.

WearyAuldWumman · 22/08/2025 12:07

Weight is sticking. I obviously need to reduce my calories. Bleurgh!

Have had three classes and three gym workouts this week: gym and pilates on Monday; gym Tuesday; gym and Senior Flex Wednesday; "Active for Health" class today. Having issues with knees post work-out, so taking leg days a bit easier and remembering to use the vibro plate.

PreetyinPurple · 22/08/2025 12:10

Gone back to my lowest weight after going up slightly, hopefully sign its going to drop again.
i was also going to drop my calories but I’ve started the gym. I did 90 minutes this morning and need to fuel!

CarrotVan · 22/08/2025 12:58

@dayslikethese1 Mine too…now it’s lots of sparkling water bottles and fruit punnets

CarrotVan · 22/08/2025 12:59

I’ve just dragged DH out for 30 minute walk to the butchers and back. And haven’t eaten anything yet

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 22/08/2025 13:16

Some good progress team! Happy Friday.

I'm up about half a pound, but I know that's water/period, so going to keep going in moderation as consistency is key.

With that in mind:
breakfast: Fage, 40g granola & raspberries (a puny portion for the calories, but a nice change and quite filling)
hot chocolate while in town to get over the back to school shopping shock
lunch: chicken stew with veg & rice
dinner: chicken kiev, sweet potato fries, salad
🍻mojito to celebrate the start of the long weekend.

Have a good one all

socks1107 · 22/08/2025 19:17

I’m hopeful that I’ve broken the stall. I was down this morning! The increase in calories has worked it seems: normally head straight to the pub on Fridays with my dh after work but today we went swimming instead and when we get home I’ll enjoy two gin and diet lemonades and that’ll be it today.
happy bank holiday everyone

PatienceOfEngels · 22/08/2025 19:20

Don't laugh @biscuitcat but this recipe is from Usbourne My First Cookbook that my parents gave me when I was 11. I love this recipe so much! I don't pay too much attention to how many potatoes and onions, just what fits in my oven dish. I use this white sauce recipe (adjusted sometimes) for everything - base for a pie filling, topping for lasagne, macaroni cheese. So easy.

So I’ve not lost anything really for a month, have been eating my calories though as going to the gym. Woke up and my period had started so almost didn’t think it was worth it. Lost a whole kilo overnight. Don’t think I’ve ever lost so much in one night.

frostedshreddie · 23/08/2025 09:34

@PatienceOfEngelsyes quite a shocking documentary!
I do still love Jillian Michaels though 🤣
It did make me kind of think about the main goal being healthy rather than the specific number on the scale. I need to remember that more!
Also love that recipe book, how sweet!!

35 min YouTube weight workout completed this morning 💪🏻 have ordered lots of nice healthy foods in - avocados, spinach, Fage yoghurt, berries etc 😋
Good to be back on it 😊

Have a lovely long weekend everyone!

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 23/08/2025 10:22

Twins @PreetyinPurple period here but something told me to get on the scales and it's gone down!

In total, I've now lost 5kg/11lbs and I greatly thank the group for keeping me accountable. I haven't told a soul in real life, just quietly getting on with it. DH will know I'm not snacking in the evenings, but I still had a cocktail with him last night while watching Gardner's World so rock and roll 😂

Food for today:
Hot choc, chia Fage + raspberries
wrap, fajita chicken and salad + packet of french fries
magnum
BBQ chicken, new pots & salad

Feel like this is a balance and so much better than I was eating!

Sounds good @frostedshreddie
Love the cookbook @PatienceOfEngels and good luck coaching football!
Sounds like a good evening @socks1107
Some great results on and off the scales too everyone, but name checking everyone would mean being here all morning!

PreetyinPurple · 23/08/2025 10:52

The best thing about dropping weight is I actually hit my 2nd milestone on happy scale! Next one is another kilo down.
ive lost 4.5 kilos since mid June. I did think it would be more but I’ve also put on muscle.

biscuitcat · 23/08/2025 15:02

Thank you @PatienceOfEngels - adorable book and it sounds delicious! Bacon, potato and onion is always likely to be a winner.

I was really excited to have made a lentil curry for dinner but I’ve just tasted it and it’s disappointing which is a shame. I’m exhausted and don’t want to waste it, given it’s not actively horrible, so it’ll have to do, but I’d prefer something else really.

Well done!

I’ve never completed a milestone on HS and am determined to this time. Apparently I’m 30% of the way there.

socks1107 · 23/08/2025 19:31

@PreetyinPurple hooray!! I know you’ve been struggling, as I do when I don’t lose so this is awesome to read.

@biscuitcatI had similar today at lunch only it was bacon and eggs and I threw most of it away. So disappointing.

@PatienceOfEngels sometimes the simplest food is the yummiest!

I cannot believe we’re into month nine nearly! It’s been a funny year with weight loss but well worth it. Given how slow it is and a holiday approaching I think I’ll still be working on my last 21lbs till March time but I’m ok with that I think

Determinedloser · 24/08/2025 10:27

Can any other daily weighers confirm if they’re fluctuating like this? I can only put it down to water as I am sticking to calories religiously.

Got my period yesterday so wonder if that was the reason for no loss. First in 9 months so a little surprised

frostedshreddie · 24/08/2025 16:13

30 min cardio completed this morning ✅
Breakfast smoothie, smoked salmon & avocado for lunch and chicken & veg bake for dinner 😋

Alwayslearning25 · 24/08/2025 16:29

Yesterday I had a family BBQ and ate all day. I normally weigh myself daily, but I'll wait until Wednesday, some time to recover. This morning, before eating anything, but after a coffee with one sugar I went for my 3rd c25k and it felt the best. But, I could feel it in my knee. I tried to run smoother so I wasn't pounding the floor but I could only do what I felt my legs needed to do if I went faster and I don't have that fitness yet. So I know if I carry on running for a few weeks, it will feel much better. I have not done that in about 10 years (run more than a few times without quitting) but I know it would be a great benifit if I did.

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 24/08/2025 21:07

Hi all

Can't comment on daily fluctuations, but it definitely happens between times - I normally get on the scales 2-3 times a week @Determinedloser

I fell into the cheese and crackers tonight - ah well. Back on the wagon tomorrow. Lots of other good things food wise and exercise. Got on a bicycle for the first time in nearly 20 years this week and the saying is true - you never forget how to ride a bike.... Grin

PreetyinPurple · 24/08/2025 22:35

I’m a kilo heavier today than yesterday, mixture of period starting and salt from eating out last night.
