Following on from the LOSE IT! May thread

May came and went in a flash😮. The arrival of June provides the opportunity to embrace a fresh new start & start new habits. If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am now maintaining around 8st 12lb. I find this weight is sustainable and easy to maintain. If I can do it anyone can 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

@WeirdPookah and @ImALittlePea hope you're feeling better soon! DH is also currently disgustingly grotty and I'm looking at him thinking that those germs are probably coming for me soon 😭

Having had a gain last week after a big weekend away, Ive come back down again, but can't really count it as a loss - Just back to normal. I have basically done that twice this month and it has been an excellent exercise in understanding the importance of consistency. If I keep going up and down and up and down, I never go down down!

End of June results:
SW: 97.5kg
CW: 92.3kg
10%: 88kg

I would love to see 90 by the end of July.

Good luck to everyone doing WOW!

talkingdeadscot · 26/06/2024 08:44

Morning all. I forgot WOW last week, stayed the same but didn't post. This week I've reached a couple of milestones which I'm going to shamelessly boast about!

Since I started July last year I have finally reached 30kg of weight loss. I'm only little (5' 1") so I was very round and now I almost have a waist. I started at size 18 and now I'm a 10-12

Secondly, I am into the 9's. Okay, it's 9st 13.6'lbs but I'm there and I haven't seen a 9 on the scales since before I was diagnosed with a life changing illness.

I won't lie, it's been very hard at times and I'm in my 60's so I have loose skin but I'll take that over that awful crushing defeated feeling of having a BMI of nearly 38. Plus, I can wear nice clothes again so there's that :)

This week's WOW

SW - 93kg
GW - 55kg
CW - 63kg

So just keep going everyone, persistence is the key and the rewards are so worth it.

WeirdPookah · 26/06/2024 09:44

@talkingdeadscot fantastic! You deserve to share your joy!!

Thank you @LemonDrizzle23 and @PatienceOfEngels not feeling great still, trying to not sneeze all over my husband, he really cannot be ill. It's worrying.

Very hot here today, got one child's sports day this afternoon, not looking forward to standing in the sun.

B: black bean burrito
L: salad, cottage cheese, celery with peanut butter
D: breakfast for dinner

NothingTraLaLa · 26/06/2024 09:55

What a fantastic achievement @talkingdeadscot - it’s so nice to hear success stories!

PatienceOfEngels · 26/06/2024 18:37

Wow @talkingdeadscot that's incredible!

Well, today went to plan food wise but no yoga this evening. It's too hot for me! 30 degrees here at 7.30pm. Didn't drink enough water as was on the go all day.

Out on a school trip tomorrow and going to be hot. Just packing my bag and putting my swimsuit and spare shorts in in case the water ride is open (DC and I went on it last year and got soaked head to toe and right through so will definitely get changed if I go on!).

Plan for tomorrow:
-boiled egg and rye toast, coffee
-unsalted nuts, raisins, peach
-pasta salad
-dinner? Going to be late home so DH and DC will already have eaten.
-tonnes of water

-will still go for my pre-breakfast walk but going to get a lot of steps in. Pretty sure will be too knackered for yoga at the end of the day.

NothingTraLaLa · 27/06/2024 08:57

Hmmm, I’ve had an overnight loss of almost 1lb. I think the heat is causing me to become dessicated! Time to drink some water!

WeirdPookah · 27/06/2024 09:24

Oh am I feeling sorry for myself! I think this is some summer flu.
Trying really hard to stay on meal plan, when all I fancy today is a pile of toast.

B: black bean burrito
L: tahini siracha lentils with cabbage and leek
D: roast vegetables with feta

GameOfJones · 27/06/2024 09:55

@WeirdPookah I hope you feel better soon!

I'm WoF this week after a weekend where I over indulged. I've been on track all week so I'm really hoping for a loss. I know I need to sort out my weekends to make sure I'm more consistent.....at the moment I'm doing a great job of maintaining but I'm at least 3 stones over where I need to be! So I need a kick up the backside.

Today's plan

B - yoghurt, nuts, blueberries
L - leftover daal
D - avocado on sourdough with poached egg
E - a gym session on my lunch break

LegoTherapy · 27/06/2024 10:30

Morning all. I don't think I've weighed myself for a week and am totally fed up. I've lost all motivation for anything and everything. My diet is ok. Not amazing but not bad either. Exercise is the usual ton of walking and last week I did a 18 mile bike ride. My friend the other day asked me what size I was and suggested a 14. I'm a 10. My Dd told me I had sunken eyes and old hands yesterday.
I need to catch up on things and see where everyone is up to.

ImALittlePea · 27/06/2024 15:46

I hope you're feeling a bit better now @WeirdPookah thankfully my lurgy was short lived and I think definitely exacerbated by life being extra busy and full of late nights lately. I've had zero wine this week, been in bed by 10pm every night and been much better on the diet front, and feel infinitely better for it.

Wow @talkingdeadscot that's amazing! Such an inspiration.

@LegoTherapy sorry to hear you sound so flat. Sending love 💕

I'm WoFing tomorrow, the plan was no wine again tonight but I had my job interview and I had a call about an hour ago to say I'd been offered it! So pleased as the other one (not sure if anyone remembers from the last thread) had fallen through, and I've already mentally checked out of my current job. Only two weeks to go and I'll be moving. This new one sounds and feels a perfect fit, no more shifts work and in an industry I feel very passionate about. I'm unbelievably chuffed, so might have to force the family out for a celebratory dinner tonight! 🥹🥳

I'll still weigh tomorrow as I feel like the week has been a better one, and even if I carry bloat tomorrow I need to start being more accountable to myself!

GameOfJones · 28/06/2024 07:48

Congratulations @ImALittlePea ! That definitely sounds worth celebrating.

I've WoF today and I'm 2lbs down finally after a couple of weeks staying the same.

SW: 15st 1lb
CW: 14st 2lbs
Next goal to get into the 13s.

The 12 hour eating window is working well for me. Sometimes I do a bit more than 12 hours although in general I say I can eat between 7am and 7pm. But yesterday I'd finished dinner by 6.30pm and I am only just having breakfast so it's more like 13 hours. Only water or herbal tea in the evenings and it's really making me think e.g the other day I did have a glass of wine after work at 6pm but then my eating window closed so I didn't have another (or a whole bottle as I may have done in the past!)

PatienceOfEngels · 28/06/2024 08:19

@WeirdPookah get well soon.

@LegoTherapy please ignore your friend. And as for sunken eyes - Had this the other week and I was pre-menstrual, exhausted and most likely dehydrated. Water, rest and lots of veggies/fruit - this too will pass.

Congratulations @ImALittlePea ! Definitely worth weekday wine.

@GameOfJones I find 12 hours works for me as well. If I try and do a smaller window I end up failing, but this stops me eating after dinner.

Yesterday had its ups (stuck to plan food-wise until dinner, got 16K steps in, pre-breakfast walk and breathing exercises) and downs (end up grabbing a McDonald's for dinner on the way home from school trip) but really enjoyed cooling down at the splash pad and having a lovely social day with colleagues.

Today:
-boiled egg and rye toast, coffee
-cherries, tomatoes, unsalted nuts and raisins
-chicken caesar salad
-dinner - no idea. going to an event with DC until 6.30pm and they haven't said if there'll be food or not. Going to pan fry some extra chicken this morning so we can have chicken wraps when we get home if there isn't any.
-have already done 6.5K steps with pre-breakfast walk and school run. Just popped out for some errands on the bike. Would lie to get a yoga session in but will have to see. Have to pick up one DC early from school so might take them for a walk.

It's cooled down here thank god! Has been 30 for the last 3 days and today it's a more manageable 20/21.

End of term madness here so my head is crammed with trying to remember and organise tonnes of different things (3 different schools fighting for space in my head! leaver's assemblies, end of term celebrations, teacher thank you cards/gifts, birthday parties) and am so behind on laundry and housekeeping, DC was clamouring for shorts this morning.

Really looking forward to a quiet evening 😂

ImALittlePea · 28/06/2024 09:21

Thank you @GameOfJones @PatienceOfEngels 😊

WoF today -1lb, so I'm happy with that given I had a big pub dinner last night!

Currently being climbed on by a sticky toddler - excellent on a hot day - so only a quick post from me! Have a good day all!

WeirdPookah · 28/06/2024 12:30

@PatienceOfEngels thank you.

Feeling a bit better today, but tired myself out cleaning this morning, but some really needed to be done. Very wheezy since I'm already asthmatic.

Done great with my food diversity today by having the 4 mixed lentils dal I made for lunch and making refried bean quesadillas for dinner, with the beans I batch cooked with 6 different beans! Lidl have new corn/wheat mini tortillas which I'm looking forward to trying tonight.

B: toast, almond butter with banana microwaved until its squidgy!
L: mixed dal, poppadoms
D: refried bean quesadillas, salad

rainbow616 · 28/06/2024 13:21

Hey everyone,

I'm also ill 🤧 think the high pollen count isn't helping either. I'm asthmatic and my cough is insane! I've had to sleep on the sofa so I don't wake the entire house up! I've stayed the same since I lost the half a stone a couple of weeks ago, but I'm still happy with that!

Hope everyone who is ill feels better soon and hope everyone has a great weekend x

PatienceOfEngels · 28/06/2024 19:06

Social event this afternoon/party food in house so food went to pot!

B-boiled egg and rye toast, coffee
S - cherries, mini lion and aero bars
L - chicken salad (olives, cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce, garlic croutons, french dressing)
D - mini pancakes, chips, sausage, deep fried something
3 glasses fizzy orange

But, did get 15,000 steps in including a pre-breakfast walk and a 15km bike ride so not feeling too bad about missing yoga though must do it tomorrow.

Sorry to hear so many people are still feeling under the weather.

RadDarwazeh · 28/06/2024 22:16

Get well soon, everyone! It's bad pollen count this year unfortunately :/

Managed to lose 0.9kg (drat, couldn't it be a round number?!) this week! Happy for the loss I honestly thought I'd stay the same!

I constantly think about food though. Managed to make relatively healthy choices at wagamama earlier which I'm proud of. And avoided the delicious looking lindt ice cream that some people were having. I crave one of those so much!

Dinner tonight was Thai pork mince lettuce wraps and I have leftovers for tomorrow. Who doesn't love some cheeky leftovers, haha!

PatienceOfEngels · 30/06/2024 06:50

Lovely chilled day yesterday. Popped into the city and then lazed in the garden:
-boiled egg and rye toast, coffee
-ice cream (strawberry and lemon)
-cheese and salad ciabatta roll
-mini aero and kitkat
-chicken salad wraps
-popcorn, a few nuts and some cheese

Could have gone better food wise as too many snacks. Had a few days of treats.
Exercise - 11,000 steps, walk before breakfast and 7/8km cycle to and from town.

Today it's raining for the first time in a week.
Already done a pre-breakfast walk. Will do a family walk later and yoga.

B - boiled egg and toast, coffee
L - ? ciabatta roll with something, maybe just salad
D-? maybe white fish with potatoes and veg

Hope everyone's had a lovely weekend.

LemonDrizzle23 · 30/06/2024 08:32

Sounds like lots of nice weekends going on!

We've just started renovating our kitchen / diner (doing it ourselves 😬) so DH is spending the weekend stripping and sanding the nasty varnish off the otherwise beautiful wooden counter top. This means we've had no kitchen this weekend as it's a cloud of sawdust currently! So lots of sandwiches and microwave meals here.

But we have kept moving! 12,000 steps for me yesterday. Off to the gym this morning and DS is going to kids club so we're away from the fumes...
