Following on from Joyous June 2024

Crumbs how can it be July already? 😮 Anyways, a new month provides the opportunity to embrace a fresh new start & start new habits. If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am now maintaining around 8st 12lb. I find this weight is sustainable and easy to maintain. If I can do it anyone can 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Thanks for making a new thread, @TheRealHousewife and welcome @QueenofTheBorg

I'm 10lb down since starting four weeks ago with you and this continuing thread is so motivational! I'm really happy to share progress and am an avid reader of all the tips and meal ideas posted by all the members 💕 let's start the new week right tomorrow! New week and new month, let's goooooo!

Vgtasd · 30/06/2024 23:26

Please can I join? Would like to get 9lbs off x

WednesdayWeWearPink · 01/07/2024 01:57

I would like to join too! I work in kilos so have had to google but I am looking to lose 40 pounds at least.

I used to be very fit but an injury stopped me from exercising. As I love food and I couldn’t exercise, the weight crept up. I had surgery to fix the issue right before we went into lockdown, after which I got pregnant soon after. I had my second child 7 months ago, so I’ve also got pregnancy weight to lose. I managed to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight after my second pregnancy really quickly, but I am one of those people who is always hungry when breastfeeding…and I’ve essentially been breastfeeding non stop since mid 2021!

So in a space of 5 years, I have gained 40 pounds and now I want to lose it all. I hate how I look now. I used to be so attractive but I’ve lost it through my poor diet and lack of movement.

Happy to be part of the weekly weigh in.

Marking my spot to check in later!

LemonDrizzle23 · 01/07/2024 07:06

Hello! Love a shiny new thread - thank you @TheRealHousewife

Honestly cannot believe June is over! This weekend has been a bit of a disaster food-wise without a kitchen 😬 hopefully it'll be functional again by tea time.

Intentions this week:

  • intermittent fasting
  • log with nutricheck
  • 12,000 steps per day
  • concentrate on whole food. Ate crisps this weekend that tasted disappointingly fake and chocolate that was grossly sweet. Not worth it.

My goal is to see 90kg by end of July.

LegoTherapy · 01/07/2024 09:20

Oooh new thread! I can't believe it's July already. The day started with chia porridge, lunch will be yogurt and dinner possibly homemade pizza. I'm desperately saving for our holiday at the end of the month and will be sticking to lots of soup. I haven't weighed myself for a while but I'm still a couple of kilos above where I want to be. I just can't get in the zone, or maybe the zone is so entrenched now that it just doesn't feel like I'm in it. My meals are pretty prescriptive and I've cut out most ultra processed stuff.

PatienceOfEngels · 01/07/2024 10:14

First two weeks of June were a disaster but the last 10 days has been much better: more exercise, less junk. I do notice that I slip and spiral into bad habits very quickly, and feel absolutely awful after only a little bit of UPF/sugar.

Goals for July
-get a 1kg off before I set off on holiday in 3 weeks (more would be lovely!)
-stick to whole foods as much as possible, no UPF snacks.
-no evening snacking (12 hour eating window)
-pre-breakfast walk and daily yoga
-get outside everyday
-keep journalling

WeirdPookah · 01/07/2024 10:17

I had an exciting and intense weekend, my husband graded for his Black Belt in karate, 4 solid hours of grading and he got it!!
He deserved an Indian takeaway after that!

So back on course today, I re-lost some water weight last week,
back to 65lbs down total.

B: black bean burrito
L: tahini sriracha lentils with cabbage and leek
D: broccoli, cheese... something, everyone else has leftover sauced pasta from yesterday.

But so many things on the horizon, children home Thursday as the council see fit to close a school of 700 kids to use one room to vote in, going out Friday shopping, Sunday is our moved Father's Day, so restaurant meal, then next week is wedding anniversary, then my husbands birthday after that!

GameOfJones · 01/07/2024 14:21

Hello all! Goodness, July already.

My intentions for this month:

Finally get into the 13s

Extend my fasting (I've been doing a 12 hour eating window 7am to 7pm to stop evening snacking and have found it absolutely fine. I want to work up to doing a 16:8 and only eating between 11am and 7pm or 12pm and 8pm.)

More fibre, more water, more yoga and continuing to be consistent taking my vitamins etc.

Today's plan:

B - yoghurt, blueberries, nuts

L - avocado on wholemeal toast with a side of raspberries

D - potato and cauliflower curry

E - weights session at the gym

ImALittlePea · 01/07/2024 16:40

Hello July!

This weekend wasn't too bad on the scheme of things. Feeling nicely motivated today. Started the week with my regular dance class and then straight off to a busy shift. Can't wait to not be working shifts any longer, finding the final few bloody hard work but that's to be expected I suppose!

Meals today:
L - wrap with houmous, falafel, loads of salad and a bit of cheese, followed by a greek yoghurt with honey
D - 1/3 of a vegetable quiche, some new potatoes, big salad
S - one hob nob and half a mini bag of crisps

Good luck everyone on the thread for the coming month! 3 weeks until the summer holiday (for me anyway) to get those habits back up to scratch!

WeirdPookah · 02/07/2024 10:12

Yesterday on plan, been for a very windy walk today, not as far as I normally do, wanted to call in a shop, but wasn't open!

B: black bean burrito
L: broccoli, spinach tortellini
D: quorn burger, sandwich thin, salad
iced protein coffee

ImALittlePea · 02/07/2024 10:59

Quick one from me as I'm just off to work..

(Early) L - 1/3 veg quiche with a few sautéed potatoes and beans (a meal which reminds me of my Kate father and so was comforting as well as delicious!)
D - veggie burger in a bun, homemade chips and a big side salad
S - hoping a slightly larger lunch will stop me from snacking today! I managed to not eat off the pass at work yesterday, however it was my last shift with one of the managers and so we had a small glass of wine after as a sort of farewell drink.

Here's a water claxon for anyone who hasn't had much yet today 💦

LemonDrizzle23 · 02/07/2024 11:26

@ImALittlePea I've just downed a can of Diet Coke, which is not quite the same as 💦 So thank you for the reminder!

Kitchen is vaguely back together, so have just cooked a bolognese ready to reheat tonight when we get back from swimming. Heading off to the gym in a bit and then sports day at school. Shame about the weather, but probably better than a bunch of 6 yr olds running around in 27C!

Had eggs on toast (and a couple of chocolate truffles 😬) to break my fast. Am keeping up my steps and my fasting. So hopefully undoing some stuff from the weekend.

TheRealHousewife · 02/07/2024 12:30

I've decided to extend my 12:12 eating/fasting pattern and trial 16:8 intermittent fasting for July. More for the other associated health benefits than purely weight loss. I'll then review whether I want to continue with it or go back to 12:12 at the end of the month. I've just completed my first fast and it was surprisingly fine. I got a little hungry just before lunch with my stomach growling but then really enjoyed my lunch when I had it.

L - oatcakes, brie, raspberries, honey
D - poached eggs, spinach and mushrooms on toast
S - yoghurt, peach, nuts

33by33 · 02/07/2024 13:38

I started last week on the Fast 800 with a 16:8 window - only 3 kg down in 8 days, I was hoping for something a bit more dramatic as I have a lot to lose! I'll keep going though, my hope for this month is to get into the overweight range instead of obese, which means another 8kg off.

tahinitoast · 02/07/2024 23:11

I'm in please!

Got a stone or so to lose.

Trying some longer fasts: IF 8 hr window most days, 36 hour water fasts twice a week, plus running three times a week and weights, eating as unprocessed as possible.

Will weigh in tomorrow!

PatienceOfEngels · 03/07/2024 07:05

WOW +0.3kg

CW 71.8kg
SW 77kg (Oct 23)
GW 68kg

Have done lots of exercise this week (walking and cycling) but a few junk meals and UPF snacks have started creeping in when I'm on my own. Good job we have 6 week holiday coming up and will be accompanied by children for the foreseeable future 😂

LemonDrizzle23 · 03/07/2024 07:11

It is Wednesday again, so time for WOW. Nice to be heading back in a downwards fashion. Back at my beginning of June weight, after a lot of up and downs throughout the month.

SW: 97.5
CW: 91.8
10%: 88

Have been following my intentions, including tracking on nutracheck for a reality check!

Off for brunch today - the full English breakfast on the menu is 1200 calories 😳 so I will going for something else! Good luck everyone with WOW.

2024Mm · 03/07/2024 07:14

Can I join please? I comfort eat and whether I’m happy or sad I eat, I’m going through a rough time at the moment and don’t have support. My weight is creeping up. My weight today is 11.4 stones. I want to get in the 10 stone bracket before kids break up for summer. My ideal weight is 9.7 stones. Before the kids I was 7.12! I can’t believe it. I haven’t been less than 11.1 stones for over 4 years.

GameOfJones · 03/07/2024 07:50

I'm pleased with WoW this week as I've lost 1lb so hit my first stone off. It has taken me absolutely ages, I'm losing on average half a pound a week so am a proper tortoise 🐢......but I'm still pleased to reach this milestone, despite having a long way to go.

SW: 15st 1lb
CW: 14st 1lb
Next goal to try and hit 13st 7lbs in time for holiday at the end of August.

Intermittent fasting going ok so far, I'm getting used to black coffee but not loving it at the moment.

talkingdeadscot · 03/07/2024 08:15

Morning everyone, July already!!! Thanks to @TheRealHousewife for the new thread.

SW - 93kg
GW - 55kg
CW - 62.4kg

Weighing in at 62.4kg today and safely into the 9's. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see that number on the scales, it's been elusive for 10 years! My goal for July is to get to 60kg which I think is realistic.

I've had to move to IF in order to keep things shifting but it's not been a hardship. I only have 2 meals a day but I do still catch myself snacking, even if it is within calorie allowance I don't think it's helpful. So calories are still 1400 and my eating window is 12-6pm.

Lets hope we see some sun this month, I do miss it.

SkinnyMinnyInWaiting · 03/07/2024 09:40

Newbie here. Just fed up with being chubby. Wfh has ruined my two meals a day habit which got me to around 9.5 stone and comfortable. Calorie counting has worked until it didn’t. Mindful eating worked but it’s hard bloody work mentally although when it works it’s a blissful way to both enjoy and be free of food. So I’m stuck. Fasting maybe? I don’t want my life to revolve around food. I just want to eat vaguely healthy meals and forget about it. But Im wired for greed. Can anyone relate?!

CW 11stone 😭
TW 9st 💪

AllTheNaps · 03/07/2024 10:48

Can I join please?

Currently 5 weeks postpartum with my last baby. 5/6kg to loose to get back to pre pregnancy weight. Wanting to loose the extra pounds and tone up, I've always been reasonable fit pre children so want to get back to that. Motivation is taking a hammering at the moment due to sleep deprivation!

SW 61kg
GW 55kg

Very similar CW & GW to you @talkingdeadscot 🥰
