Following on from the LOSE IT! May thread

May came and went in a flash😮. The arrival of June provides the opportunity to embrace a fresh new start & start new habits. If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am now maintaining around 8st 12lb. I find this weight is sustainable and easy to maintain. If I can do it anyone can 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Thinking of you @TheRealHousewife 💐
I hope things look up for you soon.

A loss this week, but I’m not too excited as it’s just back to my plateau weight after a heavy weigh last week.

SW 128 lbs
CW 117.2 lbs
TW 112 lbs

Hoolahoophop · 19/06/2024 09:15

@TheRealHousewife sorry to hear that, I hope things look up soon.
@SanFranBear I loved the 30 day shred when I did it about 15 years ago. Must have the DVDs stashed somewhere. Maybe I will give that a go as well. As you say, definitely gets some results.

My work and the kids social lives are crazy at the moment and exhaustion is denting my will power. I just keep snacking in hopes it will give me energy.

But my first proper post holiday weigh in and I hit:

CW: 56.7kg
SW (Jan): 59.6kg
GW: 52.7kg....was 50, I've readjusted!

Not too sad, before I went away I was at 55.9kg. But it has taken me all year of very slow bumps to get down 3kg!

Todays plan
Walking about 3k
B: 1 slice of malted bread toasted with butter and pate - eaten on the school run as we were up late and there was not time for anything better.
L: Leftover veggie cottage pie with sweet potato mash
D: Chicken kiev, jacket pot, broccoli and carrots.
S: Some dried apricots, and whatever DH tempts me to after tea. Probably mint chocolates.

Will try to get back onto my Garmin master core control Pilates exercises. They only take 10 mins a day and can make a difference but even sticking to that seems a challenge.

LemonDrizzle23 · 19/06/2024 09:23

🌺 for you @TheRealHousewife - I hope you are brought some joy again soon.

I'm abstaining from official WOW after my long weekend 😬 hoping to be back down to normal by next weigh in.

Averaging about 13-15,000 steps a day at the moment, and definitely have felt the change in my thighs and bum. More muscular and less "spread" when I sit down. All good changes. Good luck to everyone doing WOW today.

EndlessGuineaPigCycle · 19/06/2024 10:09

Sorry to hear you're having a difficult time at the moment @TheRealHousewife , I hope things improve soon

WoW today, no change this week. I went majorly off the rails over the weekend but reined it in on Monday. @rainbow616 you inspired me to give the 5:2 diet a try, I had my first fast day on Monday and am doing another one today, aiming for 500 calories. It was tough towards the end of the day on Monday, but otherwise not too bad.

Good luck!! It's hard to begin with but it does get a bit better 🤦‍♀️🤣🤣

WeirdPookah · 19/06/2024 12:27

Struggling with left over party food around the house, ate some bits of cake yesterday and a mini pie with dinner. Mostly gone now, just some cake.

Had a small piece of cake just now, been for a 3 mile walk, sad to find out one of my favourite dogs I meet has died, she was poorly but it's sad.

B: black bean burrito
L: tahini siracha lentils with leek and cabbage
D: peppers, tomatoes, onions, veggie sausage
small bit of brownie.

ImALittlePea · 19/06/2024 18:02

Thanks @SanFranBear @Hoolahoophop (belatedly) for the lunch suggestions. I've picked up a few more ideas from the thread too.

And yes SanFran, we were on priority threads together!

So sorry to hear that things have been tough for you @TheRealHousewife as others have said, you do not need to apologise at all. Sending you love and strength and hope to see a bit of happiness return to your life soon ❤️

I hope your week has been ok so far @LegoTherapy, it sounded like a tough one.

To everyone else - welcome newbies, hello oldies, and everyone in between!!

Food has been ok lately for me. Touch too much wine as per - struggling to kick that one as I'd like 😬 lunches have been a mix of scrambled eggs & beans, wrap with grilled halloumi & salad, chicken salad etc. Dinners have been ok too, although struggling to remember what I've had! Most things homemade though 👍👍 it's now been over five weeks since I had a takeaway, I really fancied one tonight but I'm just making a Bolognese pasta bake ready for after my class tonight. Counting that as a win.

Dreading it, but going to weigh tomorrow. And then Friday. Think I need to start every other day or thrice a week weighing temporarily to give my motivation that final push. But I'm ok with slow progress, overall!

RadDarwazeh · 19/06/2024 21:08

Hi! Loving reading everyone's progress and I'm sorry to those of you going through tough times. Consistency is key I think. But gosh do I want a glass of wine ! Especially in this GORGEOUS weather we're having finally

WoW

SW: 87.16kg
CW: 83.5kg
Down from last week: 1.5kg

tahinitoast · 19/06/2024 21:33

@GameOfJones @TheRealHousewife Thank you!

Been on it this week, had a 3 pound loss when I weighed in today from last Wednesday. Plus a bit of a dodgy Saturday where I ate loads of Chinese food and turkish delight so very happy!

Got to the gym today did 20 minutes running and a LBT class, so finished on 13000 steps. Today's food diary:

Stewed rhubarb, all Bran, keffir Yoghurt

Feta, Pecan, olive & spinach salad with seeds & olive oil

Apple & cashew butter oat bar (home made)

Maple sweet potato rounds, Spinach Orzo & spicy chickpeas with pecans

Coffee, tea and water
Sugar free ginger beer

I want to snack and peck now but gonna stay strong 💪 for now 🙈

PatienceOfEngels · 20/06/2024 05:54

Piling it on here rather than losing at the moment 😱

wow

CW 72.4kg (+0.3kg on last week, up 3.4kg on begin. Feb))
SW 77kg (begin. Oct 23)
GW 68kg

Absolutely exhausted at this stage in the school year. Just over 2 weeks left and I can't wait for the summer.

Tiredness and stress is making me reach for stuff I know I don't want or need. A few meals out the last week that also didn't help. I need to hibernate for a bit and get some more sleep. I feel like I really need a reset:
-water, water, water
-no snacking except fruit/greek yoghurt
-12 hour eating window
-daily walk

If I can get the above sorted I know I will lose weight.

Had a lovely walk in the sunshine yesterday evening. A relief after a wet and soggy Tuesday (did a short walk after dropping DC off at school and needed a change of socks and trousers when I got home, it was raining so hard).

Had a lovely day on Monday. Took a small group of students to the theatre. Some of them had never been - one girl asked me why the actors kept coming out for applause as she'd never seen an encore before. It was a bizarre performance, a lot more avant-garde than I expected, but it brought up some really interesting reactions from the students and we had a conversation on what theatre should be/can be. Also managed to get a lovely sunny walk in during the afternoon with a walk round Am*dam's canals with my colleagues while the kids were off shopping. Definitely got more than 10,000 steps in!

Plan for today:
-boiled egg, rye toast w. butter, 2x coffee with milk
-fruit plate
-soup and bread (go easy on the bread!)
-no idea what's for dinner as DH is cooking
-walk in the evening.

Sorry I haven't caught up on the thread. Have a good day everyone.

LegoTherapy · 20/06/2024 07:01

Morning all. I'm up on last week and not sure why. Maybe not anywhere near enough water. I've been so tired all week too and not getting enough sleep. Must do better.

rainbow616 · 20/06/2024 07:03

@LegoTherapy these things happen! I weigh on Fridays and I've put on since last week, which is annoying, but I have horrendous bloating which isn't helping 😢 there's always next week x

GameOfJones · 20/06/2024 08:00

Morning everyone, just checking back in to keep myself accountable.

B - yoghurt, nuts, strawberries

L - fruit salad (trying for a lighter day today as had a big meal out last night)

D - vegetable stir fried noodles with edamame and broccoli

E - yoga

WeirdPookah · 20/06/2024 10:04

Done some cleaning this morning, tomorrow I will be getting something for dinner on the run as I am going to see a choral competition .

Today is hopefully on plan:
B: kidney bean burrito
L: small amount left over Thai green tofu, mung beans, broccoli
D: roast vegetables, veggie sausage

PatienceOfEngels · 21/06/2024 07:13

I'm so tired! I usually get this extreme exhaustion at the end of my cycle but I've had this for a week. yesterday I left work early as I could barely keep my eyes open and kept feeling faint/unsteady on my feet. Usually I only get this for one or two afternoons/evenings but this has been going on for a week.

I know my cycle/end of term are playing a role but am wondering how much diet is also affecting me. I've seriously cut down on UPF, sugar and caffeine since October but have been reaching for more junk the last week through tiredness and stress, which then makes me more tired. Wondering if my body is now reacting even more than it used to after abstinence.

yesterday I managed to stay on track - egg and toast for breakfast, soup and bread for lunch and dinner, no snacking after dinner and fruit/veg for morning snack, walk in the evening so hit my 10K steps, only water and herbal tea to drink (except breakfast coffee).

Plan for today:
-boiled egg, rye toast with butter, coffee with milk
-fruit (nectarine, cherries, apple)
-italian chicken salad
-DH is out for dinner and the DC want burgers but I might do myself salmon and lots of veg instead.

Will go for a walk after school drop-off. Won't be able to walk this evening so may try to do Shred - saw that someone mentioned it up thread.

LemonDrizzle23 · 21/06/2024 08:13

Sounds like a lovely theatre trip @PatienceOfEngels , although I'm not surprised you're shattered with end of term coming up. Well done for doing it without even caffeine to keep you going!!

Thankfully, my post long weekend heaviness seems to be reducing. It's quite amazing how bodies can fluctuate if you give them a bit more salt and alcohol than they're used to 🙄

ImALittlePea · 21/06/2024 11:43

Argh! I wrote a post this morning but it disappeared 😣 so annoying when that happens.

So, let's try again!

Finally braved the scales this morning. I'm 1lb up vs my last weigh in, which was end of May. Given we've had a holiday and socially heavy weekends since then, plus the fact I have only just started to be better with meals (ignoring last night - had an emotional meeting at eldest's school, which made everything else run late, kids wanted McDs so I obliged and joined them), I'm going to take that as a win. I'm over a stone heavier than I was at my lowest last year, but still a stone below my original starting point. So with that in mind, an unusual number update from me:

CW: 10st 8.5lb
GW: 9st 10lb (I think)
Interim GW (summer hols) 10st

I know what I need to do. I just need to do it.

I've got a fair amount of walking and steps coming over the weekend - walking with a friend this afternoon and mowing the lawn / work tomorrow / in London Sunday for Taylor Swift. Yes, there will be wine and pizza involved, but I'm going to be busy so the snacking will be far less. I'm going to weigh Tuesday morning (can't do Monday as staying up overnight), then again Friday. Got to stop avoiding this as it isn't helping me focus my mind.

My pledge is that as of NOW, there will be no more midweek wines, bread and crisps. I didn't miss any of those when I was in the swing of it over the last couple of years - I just need to get over that habit that has crept back in. It's not every night, by any stretch, but it's all needless empty calories.

LET'S DO THIS!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/06/2024 13:50

Afternoon all! I’ve not been posting as much lately, but delighted to report a mini whoosh this week which has taken me to 10st 1lb in time for my hols! No doubt I’ll be back in three weeks to report how much holiday weight I need to lose! See you all on the July thread.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/06/2024 13:53

Enjoy Taylor Swift @ImALittlePea - I’ve been, it was amazing!

hope you’re doing ok @TheRealHousewife

This is me! I know what I need to do, I just need to do it!

My pledge is no evening snacking and no junks snacks during the day. I need to stick to this for a few weeks everyday without exception. I know that if I start having a weekend treat the weekend will end up being over half the week!

Today has gone to plan food wise except DC2 and I just had some popcorn for our rare movie night as everyone else is out. I had mine with a cup of herbal tea though and we popped it ourselves so could control how much oil/salt I added. Got my 10K steps in so no shred this evening.

Ready for a quiet weekend. Need to get some chores and work done, but leaving myself time for myself to do some yoga, play guitar and get outside for a walk.

tahinitoast · 22/06/2024 07:35

Good luck @ImALittlePea you can do it!

Yesterday I ate:

Chicken, bacon, avocado salad

Half cashew & apple oat bar

Meatballs with spaghetti, lots of chilli, garlic, peppers & tomatoes.
Garlic foccacia.
Tomatoes baked with goats cheese & proscuitto

Coffee
Glass prosecco
AF Pink Gordon's with rose tonic
Lime & soda

Did 20 minutes cross trainer
Treadmill
Weights

9000 steps

Off to my first park run today! Excited and slightly scared 😂

PatienceOfEngels · 22/06/2024 07:53

I did great up until my message last night then as soon as DC2 went to bed I self-sabotaged with cheese, nuts and ice cream! I tend to overeat when I'm alone. Maybe I should try ringing my DSis instead. Why do I do this to myself? Have asked DH to keep me strong in the evenings.

Plan for today:
-boiled egg, rye toast, coffee
-fruit - apple, peach, cherries
-italian chicken salad
-chicken, leek and bacon with potato wedges and broccoli.

Going out for a walk in a minute. Might take DC swimming later. Would like to get a yoga session in (DC1 is away so a bit more peaceful in the house this weekend)

Flowerchild547 · 22/06/2024 08:15

Missed this week’s weigh in as went to Taylor Swift night before and it pretty much wrote off the rest of the week! It was amazing though and I have no idea how she does that show multiple times a week without breaking a sweat!

I digress, I did weigh today and have lost 2lbs. This means I’ve now lost over 30lbs and I’m coming up to my pre-pregnancy weight (though that was high to start with).

I am going to try and be more active on this thread for the rest of the month!!

SW: 17st 10
CW: 15st 7
GW: 10st 10
Total Loss: 31lb

ImALittlePea · 22/06/2024 08:50

It's so easy to self sabotage @PatienceOfEngels but being open about it is a huge positive step I believe! Today is a new day. Your menu looks great. At some point soon we'll turn that corner with our willpower. WE'VE GOT THIS!!

I do like her music but I'd never have really considered myself a massive TS fan 😂 but my friend offered me a spare ticket earlier this week and it also involves an overnight stay so I jumped at the chance. I love my family but I'm very touched out at the moment so it's a nice last minute and much needed break. With an iconic concert thrown into the mix too. Why not eh 😜

@Flowerchild547 what an incredible loss to date!! 🎉

Thank you @tahinitoast and good luck on your first park run!

EndlessGuineaPigCycle · 22/06/2024 10:02

@ImALittlePea Wow, lucky you going to see TS, enjoy! 🙂

I'm pleased to say i managed another fast day this week. That's 3 in total this week, as I also did Monday and Wednesday. I won't be fasting again until next Tuesday, just have to make sure I don't undo my progress before then!
