Following on from the March thread.

Spring is here and it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, a fresh new start & fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now maintaining around 8st 12lb; although I’d like to see another half stone off 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Managed to get in 26 miles of mountain biking, which was about 11 miles more than planned because I got a bit lost... Only had 3 slices of toast all day. I'm bloody starving but waiting for DH to come home so we can have homemade chicken kebabs together.

Weighed myself and was 148lb.

Jelliclecats · 01/04/2024 17:44

Can I join you all? I’ve four stone still to lose slowly. Try to eat healthily and regularly but I’m also on pretty harsh medication that can give me unpleasant digestion symptoms so I have to work round that. Today has been quite bland - two plain bread “thins”, an handful of popcorn and a bowl of roast beef salad. Haven’t had to take any Gaviscon though so overall a very good day.

I’d like to walk more in April and drink more water.

43ontherocksporfavor · 01/04/2024 19:00

Just back from 5k run. Only 3rd run so far and I managed it with only one short stop to walk for about 10 breaths . 30 mins total and I’m so chuffed as I’m 53 and didn’t think I’d ever do that again! Can you tell I’m happy! 😆
L: dolmades x 2 and salad and a ryvita with hummus, apple
D: chicken gyros , bit of choc bunny.
The endorphins feel amazing. Why did I stop running???

PrimalLass · 01/04/2024 19:01

Well done!👏

LeftyLou · 01/04/2024 19:36

I lost a grand total of 2 lbs in March. If I am honest I am happy with that as any loss is good. However, it really is now the time to make a cracking good effort. I would love at least 4 lbs for April and any more is a bonus.

My goals to help me achieve this are

  • Walk round the block three times a day Monday to Friday
  • Use dumbbells at least once a week
  • Zumba once a week *More water
  • Walk downstairs once every every 20 mins to get away from computer when working
  • Eating twice a day and bulking each meal full of veggies

Hello to everyone and hope you all have a wonderful April ahead ☺️

Oanyerselhen · 01/04/2024 20:04

Yep, the sauces have been an eye opener!

Water! I need to definitely up the intake.

Managed a sedate 30 mins walk. So movement done and managed dinner within cals.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 01/04/2024 20:05

My monthly stats are:

January - 12 lb loss
February - 5 lb loss
March - 8 lb loss

I need 3 lb loss to get out of the obese category, so hopeful that I'll achieve that by mid April which will be one of my big goals hit.

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 01/04/2024 20:06

yup @TheRealHousewife with my fallen days behind me and finger crossed none ahead i've nc'd.
new puppy since we last chatted. but other wise same plan with healthy food choices and the Walk at Home series plus what ever else i can fit in.

SW 154.2
GW 141 normal bmi for 5'3".

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/04/2024 21:30

Hi everyone. I didn’t lose in March, but it wasn’t unexpected. We’re going away for a few days, but I’m going to get back on it next week. In the meantime, I’ll try and be as active as I can! Les Mills Shapes class completed earlier.

well done on the run @43ontherocksporfavor I’d love to get running endorphins but despite trying couch to 5 k many times I’ve just never really got it. But I do look a good outdoor walk. Although, it’s been raining here forever, so there’s not been much of that.

welcome @Jelliclecats and all the newbies and returners, here’s to April! As always @TheRealHousewife thanks For inspiring us with the threads.

Flowerchild547 · 02/04/2024 07:34

I’ve had a sneak at the scales and am 1lb up atm. Which all things considered could have been a lot worse and would be my first gain since I started in Jan if it sticks around until tomorrow.
However, I am going to try and flush that lb out by drinking a lot of water!
I’m thinking of trying 16:8. What windows do people use and how do they do it?

fitnessmama123 · 02/04/2024 07:59

Can I join in please? 15:5 and 2 stone of baby weight to lose (plus 1 stone I put on pre baby in covid 🙈) although right now I'd be happy with the 2. Have a family holiday in the summer so would love to lose it over 4 months. 15 weeks until holiday so would love two stone gone by then. Thanks for the moral support. I'm a yo-yo slimming world person and gain as soon as I stop going so seeing if I can do it myself 💪

PatienceOfEngels · 02/04/2024 08:00

When I was calorie counting in October I was astounded at how many calories in sauces! Have got used to having a lot less, skipping altogether or putting together something different (so instead of adding bought garlic sauce to a wrap, I'll make my own version with natural yoghurt or some kind of cream cheese mix.

Yesterday was bank holiday so I didn't give myself too much of a hard time over food.
-boiled egg and rye toast, butter, coffee, pear juice
-baked potato with butter and cheese
-ploughman's dinner - crudités, pickled onions, olives, sour dough with aioli, butter, ham, blue cheese.
-snacks - way too many crisps and mini chocolate eggs.

Managed 2x walks round the neighbourhood and hip/pelvic exercises.

Both DC have inset today and still in bed!
Plans for the day:
-get out for a walk and spend some time in the garden
-hip/pelvis stretches
-lots of water
-B -grapes, boiled egg and pumpkin sour dough with butter, coffee
-L - leftover rice with mushrooms/egg/sate sauce
-D - chicken casserole with mashed potatoes
Stick to fruit and veg for snacks

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 02/04/2024 08:31

Good Morning,

I'm trying to prioritise the protein today as that has slipped over the BH weekend. I have been around my calorie goal though and I haven't had any alcohol which I'm proud of.

I got out of the house to a NT place yesterday for some steps and I'm planning a weights work out later today. If the rain holds off a little I might head out with my audio book too.

Hope everyone has a good day.

mustbefunny · 02/04/2024 12:02

@Flowerchild547 I'm going to try and keep my 16:8 at 11:30am - 7:30pm eating window. 11:30 is my lunchtime at work. I usually eat earlier than 7:30 so might sometimes have a shorter eating window but this allows for late finishes at work.

Just had my lunch - portobello pizzas with loads of spinach. Delicious 😋

RunnyPaint · 02/04/2024 13:17

Morning! My cold has started to clear and I had enough energy to get on my elliptical trainer for a short spell this morning. I'm feeling less bloated too, so things are looking up. My usual 14:10 eating window 10.00–20.00, but I didn't eat until 11 this morning (yogurt, homemade granola and blueberries), so had a slightly longer fasting period.

monpetitchou · 02/04/2024 13:46

Joining! Haven't read the full thread but will catch up tonight. I've been undisciplined for a few months and the pounds have been creeping on. I've got a big family party in 5 weeks and want to feel confident in a pretty dress by then! My focus is on increasing protein and cutting down the sweet treats. I loosely follow IF by not having breakfast and not eating anything after dinner which is usually 7ish.

Current weight: 158lbs (at 5'3 eek!)

janeljl · 02/04/2024 13:50

Can I join please? I've only got about half a stone to go but I've been up and down for years and never manage to maintain when I get there. April is birthday month in our family so lots of cake to contend with but I'm aiming for moderation!

RunnyPaint · 02/04/2024 17:38

Hi @janjaneljl 👋 Good luck with the moderation in the face of being offered cake. I was just wondering about the best way to decline offers of all kinds of delicious food when we're being careful? It can be hard to resist graciously without potentially offending someone or starting a conversation about weight/diets when we don't want to. Any tips?

43ontherocksporfavor · 02/04/2024 18:26

L@1: quinoa with salad and chicken, apple
D@6: two grilled sausages, roast peppers and onions and mushrooms , bulgur wheat.

43ontherocksporfavor · 02/04/2024 18:27

@RunnyPaint i sometimes say ‘ ooh lovely can I wrap mine to take home , I’ve just had xxx so I’ll enjoy it later.’
Then I give it to DH!

RunnyPaint · 02/04/2024 18:32

@443ontherocksporfavor, thank you. I like that one.

Ooh, bulgur wheat. Not had that since DD said it got caught in her braces, but she managed couscous recently, so time to try again 🙂

confusedeffie · 02/04/2024 18:50

Can I join please? It’s time to take my health seriously as I am starting to notice how unhealthy I feel and reading this has inspired me.

I’m currently 16 stone with a BMI of 32.1. I’m aiming for 12 and a half stone.

I’m aiming for a lifestyle overhaul. I’m going to start eating in a calorie deficit which is about 1650 for me; walk 10000 steps a day and going to the gym at least 3 times a week.

PuttingOnMyPositivePants · 02/04/2024 20:24

Just checking in. I will be aiming for 1600 calori3s from tomorrow using my fitness pal and also using the fasting app to strat eating between set times. Also going to do a youtube exercise video tomorrow. Will report back!

monpetitchou · 02/04/2024 20:45

Day 1 done! No exercise today as weather has been awful and I just didn't want to go for my run. Food has been:
Lunch - Broccoli soup, 2 hard boiled eggs, apple
Snacks - 2 Tribe triple decker bars (these are delicious and I'm eating up a stash I bought last year, wouldnt normally have 2 in a day!)
Dinner - Spinach dahl and some crackers

Also planned out our evening meals for the week (lunch will be the same) so we're having:
Weds - chicken, veg, noodle stir fry
Thurs - cottage pie with lots of veg
Fri - lamb burgers with salad
Sat - beer battered cod with a few chips
Sun - lamb makhani

Having a nice dinner to look forward to really helps me focus during the day and avoid snacking too much.

Good luck everyone 🤗

janeljl · 02/04/2024 21:39

@RunnyPaint I'm not sure I'm the best person to advise! But I'm going to try to have a sensible amount of things without completely stuffing my face then have a smaller evening meal. That's the theory anyway...
