Following on from the March thread.

Spring is here and it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, a fresh new start & fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now maintaining around 8st 12lb; although I’d like to see another half stone off 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Im in! Am aiming to loose 3 stone. Its crept on slowly, so sam aiming to loose it slowly.
my Dad (78) had a heart attack last week so this has really spurred me on to take steps to improve my heath. First aim is to drop a stone by the start of the school summer hols.

tweetypi · 29/03/2024 12:53

I'd love to join, I'm slowly losing the 4 stone of baby weight (sob!) - 2 stone down and hoping to lose the next 2 stone over the coming year. Gentle goals!

My plan is to (re)do the couch to 5k - I've completed week 1 so far and feeling good. Alongside this I'm trying to not diet but eat sensibly - no more family sized chocolate bars at 8pm - and track what I'm eating on nutra check.

Good luck everyone!

LumionaMoonsplash · 29/03/2024 18:00

🫡 Reporting for duty @TheRealHousewife
It's a tall order but I hope to be 6lbs down by the end of April.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 29/03/2024 18:02

Hello, popping on to get this on my threads. I’ve lost my mojo a wee bit, but still would like to shift this final half a stone before my holiday in three months. I don’t think this coming week will help though, too many plans with family and friends! Will try to keep the exercise up though. I’ve not been on MN too much (the new banner ads on the app are migraine inducing for me) so I’m really behind on everyone’s chat. Hope everyone is doing ok though!

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 29/03/2024 18:08

Hello! I’m in.

recently did Prolon 5 day FMD. I was 11stone and now down to 10st 9.

My aim by June is 10st eep! I am tracking calories daily which is helping and trying to walk 10k steps. And I plan to do one more round of Prolon.

And then eventually I’d love to be around 9stone (I’m only just over 5ft) 😊

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 30/03/2024 07:11

Popping in to say hello so this is in my list ready for weigh in on Monday. Just had a quick sneaky look at the scales and I'm on 200lb so if I keep good today and tomorrow there is the possibility I'll be in One-derland by Monday 🤩

MattDamon · 30/03/2024 07:16

@Peaceandquietandacuppa could you give some detail on the Prolon thing?

43ontherocksporfavor · 30/03/2024 10:49

Thanks for new thread op.
Continuing 18:6 or 17:7 so for me this is skipping breakfast and having my first meal at 12 which is my lunch break at school. I’m finding it easy as I’m too busy in the morning and it’s only at about 11 that my tummy growls a little. I eat a small snack of almonds and berries around 4 then main meal at 5.30-7. Have started running again after lapsing for a year or two and enjoying a run/ walk 5k- now mostly running.
Today:
B:Tea, coffee and an hour long dog walk in the glorious sunshine.
L: will be a smoked mackerel salad, apple.
D: chicken skewers, bulgur wheat, and roasted tomatoes/ courgettes.
SW 10st 7 bmi 24.4
CW 10st 4 23.9
GW 9st 7 22.1
I’m 53 and finding I need to be this rigid to make a difference. I’m also really motivated by health and the benefits of intermittent fasting. I have done 5:2 in the past with much success but finding 18:6 easier than two 500 cal days.

ChickenChipsandBeans · 30/03/2024 12:03

Well, yet again I'm finishing the month not where I want to be. I'm getting a bit down to be honest because any time I deviate from the diet, I gain around 2 kg. Here are some of this months fluctuations
1st March 73.4kg (3kg up on Feb1st)
8th March 71.3
18th March 73.4
25th March 74.6
Today 72.2

I feel like I'm just losing and regaining the same 3/4kg. I walk 10,000 steps daily, eat a mediterranean diet, lower carb atm and have reduced alcohol. But any time I have a higher calorie day, not fast food, like a pasta or a homemade pizza or last Saturday 3 beers on the beach, I gain lots. Anyway, still trying. This week I have tried Fast 800 in the hope it can restart the weight loss. Easter not celebrated here, but we are going to my friends and will have a chocolate hunt for the kids. Happy Easter to all celebrating.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 30/03/2024 13:38

@ChickenChipsandBeans what's your fluid intake like? On the days where you go off plan are you still drinking plenty of water or other clear fluids or is it possible you're dehydrated/having too much salt and retaining water?

ChickenChipsandBeans · 30/03/2024 18:36

@FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain thanks for replying...... actually the opposite is true, I drink at least 3lts a day, often more.... It's just depressing that me and dh eat the same, but with hugely different results. He NEVER puts on weight....

TheRealHousewife · 30/03/2024 18:53

Evening All

Don’t forget the clocks spring forward tonight 😊

@ChickenChipsandBeans I hear your despair 😞 I’ve been where you are and I understand how frustrating and upsetting it is. For me the key was cutting carbs down and being in a slight deficit. Plenty of fluids (not alcohol 😬) good protein, healthy fats and fibre. Less of the processed stuff and if possible make from scratch. You’ll get there! ❤️

Welcome to Aprils thread @43ontherocksporfavor @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain @ChickenChipsandBeans @Emjem73 @Peaceandquietandacuppa @LumionaMoonsplash @MattDamon

Ive been pottering in the garden today and it’s been absolutely lovely 🥰 Long may the spring sunshine continue ☀️

Hi, can I join please? 🙂 Have lost 1.5 stone over the last few months, having a few days off over Easter but back on it Tuesday morning.

Currently calorie counting - approx 1400 per day and hoping to be down another stone by beginning of June.

Im 6ft tall and currently 17st10lb
Would like to be 15st5lb by Autumn.

Well done everyone!

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 30/03/2024 22:58

👋hello @TheRealHousewife and anyone else from years gone by.
i need to rejoin the group and loose a solid 5-10 lbs.
i had a good jan-feb and was looking forward to being at a normal bmi by easter BUT cold/flu hit the home pretty hard and led to an unproductive month.
i'll need support to get back into the the exercise routine and healthy food choices.
i'll be reporting in from canada (so a late time zone).

MercuryRising · 30/03/2024 23:08

I'm in. I'm starting back on Team RH from Tuesday. I moved house a month ago and have been under pressure at work which I have used as an excuse to eat rubbish and drink more than usual.

I'm scared to see what I currently weigh as I had 2 and a half stone to use before this blip. But I will face the scales on Tuesday and report back.

43ontherocksporfavor · 31/03/2024 10:05

Easter greetings!
Will be saving my first meal for a lovely roast chicken this afternoon. Will have some smoked salmon toasts canapés around midday. DH got me a Lindt bunny and will be nibbling an ear later. Have a good day.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 31/03/2024 11:11

I'm chocolate free so far, DH got me a Costa voucher instead because he's a good un and knew I wouldn't be able to resist a choccie egg and would then feel bad annoyed at myself for eating it.

Just had surprise eggs delivered by a neighbour for DD so need to hit up a co-op or petrol station later and hope I can find something to reciprocate. Otherwise we'll have to get baking and I can't be bothered.

Going to the funfair around lunchtime then having Easter dinner of all the good sides from a roast dinner without the roast meat. We came to the conclusion at xmas that we're not actually that keen on the roast joint/bird bit. it takes ages to cook, creates mess, costs loads and we prefer chicken drumsticks. So we're having roast potatoes, stuffing, yorkies, pigs in blankets, gravy and honey roasted carrots. DD will eat 90% of the stuffing because it's her favourite food in the world, I will have a bag of microwave steamed veg to bulk out my plate and steal all the super crispy potatoes.

Flowerchild547 · 31/03/2024 18:25

Happy Easter all!
We’ve just come back from the in laws. Had a lovely roast dinner but gave myself a sensible portion instead of piling my plate high! Have also come back with a lot of chocolate. I have absolutely no willpower so I am allowing myself to have what I fancy tonight but then it’s all to go away out of my sight and hopefully mind.
I know that I will likely be up on Weds but hoping that allowing myself today that I will not feel deprived and then I’ll be able to get back on track easily!

Wakeupandsmelltherain · 31/03/2024 21:17

Please can I join?!

Desperately want to lose 1.5 stone. I know I would feel so much happier and confident if got back down to pre baby weight (or close to). Been a few years of saying I will but nothing ever sticks..... determined this time it will! None of my clothes fit!

Going to restart my walking. 12k steps a day minimum.

Calorie counting and ensure I eat lots of protein.

HurryupHenry · 31/03/2024 22:26

Can I join please.

I’ve been looking at fast 800 although debating whether to sign up on the website or just try it on my own. I’ve been tracking my calories and I’m shocked, I really didn’t think that I was eating that much and thought that I was getting more protein than I am.

I lift weights 3-4 times a week, walk a minimum of 8000 steps a day but usually around 10 miles on a weekend too so I need to change my diet.

I need to watch my water intake and definitely need to work on my stress levels and sleep.

I have 1.5-2 stone to lose.

PuttingOnMyPositivePants · 31/03/2024 22:42

I am in! 15 and a half stone and have HAD ENOUGH!

Hey would you mind telling me more about how team rh works?

LemonDrizzle23 · 01/04/2024 03:11

Thank you for the April thread @TheRealHousewife
Checking in from a very hot and humid Hong Kong 👋
Was rather ill for 10 days in the run up to the holiday, so haven't posted or weighed, or even vaguely thought about calories for about two weeks now.

Going to miss the first April weigh in, but good luck to everyone! My aim is to be back on it 100% by the end of this week...

MercuryRising · 01/04/2024 03:48

@TTacali it's basically calorie counting but they also calculate your protein and fibre goals. You also are expected to achieve 10,000 steps a day minimum and ideally exercise 3 times a week.
It's done through an app, but there is online support and an active members only Facebook group.
When I stick to it I find I eat and feel much better... I'm just not very good at sticking to it...
