Following on from the March thread.

Spring is here and it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, a fresh new start & fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now maintaining around 8st 12lb; although I’d like to see another half stone off 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Please can I join?
I'm going to follow fast 800 and I work out 4 times a week including weights and 10K steps a day.

I want to lose my baby weight and feel more confident. Unfortunately my personal life has imploded, and I have been trying to food for comfort.

Starting weight: 11:5 today
Ideal weight: 9:10
Height: 5ft:3

PatienceOfEngels · 01/04/2024 07:44

Checking in! March was a bust +0.4kg 😪

April SW 70.4kg

SW 77kg (beginning October 23)
CW 70.4kg
GW 68kg

Still trying to get back to my Beginning February weight. Was so close to GW!

My golden rules:
-walk everyday (really enjoying this with an audiobook, great it's lighter)
-evening stretch/pf exercises (really noticing when I don't)
-lots of water
-no evening eating (finding this tough atm)
-no UPF snacks

Bank holiday here today and kids are off tomorrow as well before we're all back to school Wednesday (no 2 week Easter break here).

No big eggs here so not loads of Easter snacking, though have a few bits in the house we don't usually.
Struggling with stress with work atm and that's affecting my choices at times.

mustbefunny · 01/04/2024 08:10

Happy April! I'd like to join please.

SW: 152lbs
CW: 152lbs
GW: 140lbs in 8 weeks (in time for a holiday!)

Pre-covid I lost 2st by following Fast800 religiously for 8 weeks. This time, I can't be as rigid as I already have plans to socialise in the next 8 weeks and also, it needs to be sustainable and a whole shift in eating / exercise as I'm back to my heaviest weight.

So my plan is:

  • 2x 500cals days a week (Tuesday and Friday this week, food already planned in nutracheck)
  • Most other days sticking to 800cals
  • At least 16:8 every day
  • increasing water intake
  • increasing exercise

We've been away for Easter weekend so I still have one more hotel buffet breakfast to enjoy this morning! Tesco delivery full of healthy choices arriving later this afternoon (although I think I'll struggle to keep to 800 today but that's ok as it's planned and I'll still track calories)

TheRealHousewife · 01/04/2024 08:26

Happy 1st April! … The Boden website got me in an April 1st. Fancy printed Poo Bags! I’ve not been Gotcha’d for years and it did make me laugh 🤭

I’m sharing the Action for Happiness Active April Calendar.

Welcome to the April thread @NeonHalo @CurlsnSunshinetime4tea @MercuryRising @Wakeupandsmelltherain @HurryupHenry @PuttingOnMyPositivePants @LemonDrizzle23 @supiciousminds @PatienceOfEngels 👍

@CurlsnSunshinetime4tea Hi was your previous tag FallFallFall? ❤️

Menu
Meal 1 - Halloumi stir fry.
Meal 2 - Lamb, broccoli, carrots, cabbage, Brussels sprouts & gravy. Raspberry cream Pavlova.
Tea, black coffee, water.

I’m quite pleased in that I’ve swerved the chocolate treats! Not easy but abstaining is easier for me than trying to moderate … 🐣

I'd like to join. I lost 1.5 stone a couple of years ago by cutting out alcohol and crisps, and being mindful/sensible with portion sizes and snacks. Over half a stone has crept back on since January and my trousers are getting a bit tight. So, back to my previous good habits (with 14:10 now included).

I've had a horrible cold over the last week or so, and it has left me feeling sluggish and bloated in spite of not having any chocolate yesterday 🙄

SW/CW 9 st 9.5 lb
TW 9 st 2 lb

PrimalLass · 01/04/2024 08:34

Me please. I'm on the jab for blood sugar and weight reasons (self prescribed) and trying to use it to help me stay off the carbs and keep my calories low enough to actually lose weight. I'm hypothyroid and have very little natural metabolism left, so it's hard. Will use this thread for the diet and exercise side.

Lovely to meet you all. About to walk the dog then will go to the gym later.

TheRealHousewife · 01/04/2024 08:39

Welcome to the thread @mustbefunny @RunnyPaint 👍 @mustbefunny a 12lb weight loss in 8 weeks is doable. That said I’m a strong advocate for developing a sustainable and enjoyable way of eating that becomes a way of life.

MattDamon · 30/03/2024 07:16

@Peaceandquietandacuppa could you give some detail on the Prolon thing?

Hello @MattDamon of course! I saw the offer where it was reduced to £149 for 5 days so thought I’d try it. Still pricey but it covered all my meals for 5 days.

Its a calorie restricted fasting mimicking diet so feels like you can still eat 3 “meals”.

First day 1100 cals and then drops to 500ish. You have to like nuts and olives, there’s a lot of them!

Breakfast - nut bar
lunch - generally it was soup and olives or soup and crackers
dinner - soup
sometimes a chocolate rice snack bar thing or olives

There was also a glucose drink for each of the 500 cal days, which was supposed to give energy if you were dipping, you could sip through the day. It was lemon or orange flavour.

It really helped having my meals planned as that was my struggle. I found that it reset some of my eating habits - when I finished I didn’t fancy sugary things - also I couldn’t eat as much for the first week and stuck to 1200 calories for at least a few days. I’ve stuck to around 1500 calories since using MyFitnessPal and lost around 5 pounds now total. I did it in mid March.

It was hardest on day 2 and 3, days 4 and 5 were fine. I had a little headache on day 2 but was allowed a black coffee per day so I used that when I was struggling. You can also drink herbal tea which they provide.

please feel free to ask questions!

43ontherocksporfavor · 01/04/2024 09:07

Morning all. Enjoyed my roast dinner yesterday- just 3 roasties but they were lush. We didn’t do dessert as we all had chocolate so I had a few shards of my bunny and a satsuma. Did have a few glasses of wine so was an off piste day but I did manage it in an eating window of 12-7 and only had the one meal preceded by a few small smoked salmon canapés.
Back to 18:6 Mediterranean, upped protein today. Will be running/walking 5 k later .
Really positive chat on here and it’s a great time of year to make a change! Good luck!

IIdentifyAsInnocent · 01/04/2024 09:07

Hello All,

Just getting my cycling clothes on. So happy the clocks have changed so I can get out after work too!

I plan to lose my extra 1stone by eating better and cutting back drinking. I have a holiday in 92 days so am aiming to have it gone by then.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 01/04/2024 09:07

Morning all, can I join you for some April accountability?

I lost 60lbs in 2023, stayed the same for Jan/Feb then lost a further 5lbs in March, hoping to lose a few more in April. 🙌🏻

My lowest ever adult weight was 151lbs, I'm currently 162.5lbs, so not far to go at all, although I'm not even sure I want to go that low as I struggled to sustain that last time.

70lbs lost will be 157.5lbs, I'll re-assess when I get there - hopefully some time soon! 🤞🏻

concernedchild · 01/04/2024 09:10

I'm in.

4 stone down from my heaviest but really struggled this winter because of the weather, it really took a toll on me.

Now the days are lighter I'm hoping that'll be helpful!

Heading out on a walk in a minute because my gym is shut today and I still want to get some exercise in

Oanyerselhen · 01/04/2024 09:11

Good morning!

Well, I've started and it's a start. I think I want to lose about 28lbs but I'll wait until WOW before I set goals.

I've lost weight with SW pre kids but just can't seem to get my head back into it these days. I've decided to calorie count and get myself moving more! Steady, consistent change and hopefully something will start to happen.

I think I'll need to find my maintenance calories first and cut from there. Set myself 1850 for now. I'll remain flexible.

Here's to a successful April!!

PrimalLass · 01/04/2024 09:15

@ChickenChipsandBeans I'm the same - two days away with work and I can put on half a stone that then I can't lose. It's insane.

PatienceOfEngels · 01/04/2024 09:30

Thanks for the action happiness calendar @TheRealHousewife

Love today's: Commit to being more active starting today. Just been out for a walk in the rain with my umbrella and an audio book. Saw lots of birds, 2 red squirrels and hardly anyone on the street. Will try and do some yoga later. YWA has one for cyclists which is great for opening up/stretching out hips.

buzzofthebumblebee · 01/04/2024 10:11

Happy April. Re-joining (again) please?!

After a successful month and loss on the January thread, I thought I could go it alone. Needless to say old habits crept in (almost immediately) and now gained back the weight, clothes tight, feeling blugh, and face etc all puffy again with the sugar / wine. But here again thanks to @TheRealHousewife's great threads and determined to get back into my summer body of last year. Plus an event beginning May I need to look fabulous for.

In: positive thinking, running, lean protein, loads veggies, small amounts carbs
Out: processed sugar, wine, chocolate, crisps, cake, heavy carbs, snacking

April goal: loss of 8 lbs which is doable for me if I cut back to about 1500 cals / day, and get back into regular exercise.

ChickenChipsandBeans · 01/04/2024 11:10

@PrimalLass Glad I'm not the only one! Well, happy April everyone. Woken up very positive and to a gorgeous sunny and hot day here in Turkey. Today I weighed in at 73kg, expected as yesterday had some champagne and hot cross buns with friends to celebrate Easter. No regrets as it was a lovely day, and I want to live life. Been out for my walk and plan for April to be successful 🙏. For the 3rd month in a row, my goal is to reach 69kg. Hello and welcome to all the newcomers.

katmarie · 01/04/2024 11:54

Morning, checking in here. I lost track a bit towards the end of March, and I haven't weighed myself yet. I will tomorrow though. I've tried to give myself a bit of a break over the Easter holiday, I was weighing every day and finding it had a substantial impact on my mood, which wasn't healthy. So in April I'm committing to:

Being more active - we've taken out National Trust membership and I am determined to make the most of it, by going out as many weekends as possible.
Eating less carbs and less crap
Drinking less alcohol, and none at all Monday to Friday
Weighing in only once a week (on Wednesdays)

I've also given up my car (for unrelated reasons) so will be forced to walk a bit more, which I hope will help.

My hope is to weigh 75kg by the end of April. I'm possibly flying to Orlando for two weeks in May for work, so I feel like I need to make a solid amount of progress now, because my diet will be a lot less within my control during those two weeks away.

Happy April everyone!

Oanyerselhen · 01/04/2024 13:27

I've just made myself a tuna mayo sandwich for lunch - weighing and calorie counting everything. The mayo was 168 cals for 26g. What.a.shocker. For me anyway, not for others! Lighter mayo on the list to be used sparingly in future.

PrimalLass · 01/04/2024 15:21

The Hellmans one is fine for mixing in with things.

⭐️LOSE IT! April 2024⭐️ Spring Re-Set ⭐️
Flowerchild547 · 01/04/2024 16:24

@Oanyerselhen i use the lighter than light mayo now and actually prefer it to the normal one!!
Sauces were a shocker when I started tracking!!

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 01/04/2024 17:04

Yes sauces are such a disappointment when you're calorie counting, I bloody love Nando's Perinaise, the hot one. Now I have to ration myself 😫

Spent a decent portion of the afternoon hacking down weeds in the garden and lugging bags of compost so feel like I should have burnt a few calories and have stuck to calories so far.

mustbefunny · 01/04/2024 17:16

Closing the kitchen on 1305 calories. Huge hotel breakfast was at least 800 of that! Bovril as a snack and a dinner of yoghurt, chia seeds, grated carrot and kiwi. Now aiming for an 18hr fast. My DH thinks I go into dieting too gung-ho and then get bored - he might be right 🫣😬, but I know I'm out on Wednesday so only another day to wait for a treat!

SewingIsMySuperPower · 01/04/2024 17:25

I'm back! March went a bit awry....

But trying to start afresh and just done a Joe Wicks HIIT workout. It was a beginner one and tbh I probably should have tried a harder one. But feeling proud I actually did it!

Not got as much going on in April as I did in March so hoping I'll have a better month!

Revised my targets a bit. I always lose weight very slowly. Going on holiday in September and hoping to lose 7 - 10lbs by then as that should mean around half the clothes which don't fit me, should do
