Following on from the March thread.

Spring is here and it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, a fresh new start & fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now maintaining around 8st 12lb; although I’d like to see another half stone off 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

I am joining those of you in the plateau crowd. I’ve not really got back on it properly since Easter, and then it was my birthday. I was horrified to find at the weekend that I was weighing 3lb heavier than I was before Easter. Fortunately some of it must have been water and waste so I’ve dropped 2lb in the last few days that I’ve been back on plan.

I was doing Zoe but have just finished my membership; I’d finished all the lessons and it’s quite expensive to use just to log meals. I’d still like something to log my carbs, protein and fibre though. Those of you that use Nutracheck, is that something it does, and is it fairly easy to use/log? Or is there another app that would be helpful? Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

SW 128 lbs
CW 117.2 lbs
TW 112 lbs

Hoolahoophop · 24/04/2024 08:47

Getting back into running and a couple of days missed breakfast has helped me. Plus the endless logging.

SW: 58.8kg
CW: 56.4kg (down 1kg on last Wednesday)
TW: 50kg

Mini goal 52kg by Holiday 23rd May so 4 weeks just over 1kg a week.

Then keep going.

Today was an early at work so skipped breakfast.

Lunch: Half an M&S Crayfish and Mango Salad (250cal)
Snack: Banana (100cal)
Dinner: Spaghetti Bolognese with 2oz pasta, normal portion of Bolognese, tiny grating of cheese and half a plate of Salad. (600cal)

Then perhaps a treat watching TV in the evening (200cal) Easter egg

Should bring me in at 1150 plus a tea with milk Hopefully under 1200 for the day.

I have also walked to work today so 4k round trip and will try a 20minute Garmin strength routine tonight.

@NothingTraLaLa I use MyNetDairy, it's UK food centric, new foods are added quickly and pretty simple to use. Can make your own groupings, meals, recipes etc
It's the best replacement I've found to SparkPeople tracker which I used for years. I miss the community that was lost when that closed, nothing compares to that.

I'm weighing in Friday.

Been for 2.6 mile round walk to get a few things from Aldi, needed to buy chicken to cook for my cat!!

B: pinto bean burrito
L: minestrone, pesto
D: fish fingers, cauliflower/potato mash, mushy and green peas

English strawberries for snack! 🍓 First ones of the season.

NothingTraLaLa · 24/04/2024 15:25

Thanks @WeirdPookah - I will check it out.

tiredwitlessagain · 24/04/2024 19:05

SW 13st
CW. 12st 5lb. ( 1lb down on last week )
GW 11st

Slow going
Still finding it hard to get protein.
Walking a lot but not particularly enjoying it.
Seems like a lot of effort... I usually start to slip off the path at this stage.. but I will keep going as it's now about my health

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 24/04/2024 19:14

Hi Wowers, 1lb down this week, though I feel like I’m in a bit of a plateau as was up for a bit in the last month, so only getting to back where I was a month ago. Now at 10st 6, this time last year I was 10st 4 (briefly) do I’m really keen to break that barrier.

@NothingTraLaLa I use nutracheck and can keep an eye on fibre etc. you can choose three (I think) things to feature on the main diary page (calories, protein and fibre for me) but easy to check other nutrients too. I think there’s a free trial so you could test it out?

still doing my strength bootcamp so was up doing that early. I tried on some trousers I bought last year but have never worn because they were too tight and I missed the returns deadline - tried them today and they fit! Still a bit snug for comfort, but I think I’ll be able to wear them soon. Which is good, as the trousers I bought for work 5 months ago are getting very loose.

Oanyerselhen · 23/04/2024 23:14

I've fallen off the wagon. Currently chasing it.... 🏃🏼‍♀️

Will weigh tomorrow and work towards a restart!

If only it were so hard to gain as it feels to lose....

I slept in this morning so didn't weigh but will once the kids are in bed. I just need to start again regardless of what the number is!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 24/04/2024 21:56

Oan yersel’ @Oanyerselhen 😃. Note the number, set a short term goal and go!

Oanyerselhen · 24/04/2024 23:14

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Exactly! 😂

CW 150lbs
TW 130lbs

10 weeks at 2lbs a week. Seems doable right but I can't even sustain a ¼lb off! Tomorrow is a new day....

LumionaMoonsplash · 24/04/2024 23:40

Another lb down, it's a slow road but it's moving in the right direction. Had the implant put in on Saturday, made a grave mistake of hitting the gym afterwards, lifted lighter weights than usual but boy the bruising is brutal, a huge purple blob.

The progesterone is working and my mood is better, been busy at work and not eaten much over the last few days. 3lbs away from BMI 29, into overweight from obese. This is a big deal for me. I've found more clothes than no longer fit, even some that I bought last month are a bit baggy now. My wardrobe is having a good clear out.

LumionaMoonsplash · 24/04/2024 23:42

SW 210lbs
CW 178lbs
TW ? 140 ish maybe lower?

Flowerchild547 · 25/04/2024 07:54

Well done everyone for their progress.
I’ve had a bit of a meh week mentally and found it quite hard to stick to plan but really tried to stay within calories limits. 1lb down this week.

SW: 17st 10
CW: 15st 12
GW: 10st 10
Total Loss: 26lb

ChickenChipsandBeans · 25/04/2024 08:48

Why oh why can't I just stay on track? First week of April was great, 2nd and 3rd the diet went out the window, trying to recoup a little this week. The weather really affects my mood/motivation. When it is sunny and blue skies I feel all energetic and positive, but we've had miserable overcast, windy, stormy weather the last two weeks and all I want to do is eat and sit on the sofa!
My daughter has broken up with her boyfriend and is heartbroken, so she came home from uni for 3 days. Comfort food was high on the agenda, so a roast dinner, homemade pizzas and a creamy pasta bake later the scales are up.
I have tried to think about why I'm not sticking to my diet and have realised that I actually feel happy as I am at the moment, so that need to drastically lose weight has gone. However, I am still in the overweight bracket and I don't want to be, plus I think I would very quickly put all the weight I have lost back on. So....once again, trying to refocus. The next six weeks I really want to get out of the overweight range, up my exercise, stop giving in to crisps/chocolate/alcohol and be ready to feel really good when bikini time starts. I WILL wear a bikini again this summer!

WeirdPookah · 25/04/2024 10:19

Did good yesterday, got an extra walk in at school pick up time. It was hailing on me in the car park at the shops here, so no walk today, but going to tidy up some for a proper clean tomorrow, before in-laws come round at the weekend.

Today's food all planned.
B: pinto bean burrito
L: parsnip soup, toast with peanut butter
D: roast veg, chickpeas, feta

NothingTraLaLa · 25/04/2024 14:25

Thanks @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo - I’ll look into the Nutracheck free trial along with @WeirdPookah ’s suggestion.

Hoolahoophop · 25/04/2024 14:59

@WeirdPookah you have interesting sounding menus.

I had a 4.5k run this morning so got off to a good start.

B: two eggs scrambled on unbuttered brown bread.
L: Half a portion of a m&s pea and ham orzo ready meal with lots of salad
D: Fish finders, potato waffles and spaghetti hoops (its kiddie club night and this is the easiest thing everyone will eat that can be ready in under 20 minutes!)

Very upset because Garmin have changed the app and it looks different and I have to lean hot to use it now!

janeljl · 25/04/2024 20:22

@ChickenChipsandBeans I'm exactly the same with the weather! I really need some sunshine to have any energy.

WeirdPookah · 26/04/2024 11:33

@Hoolahoophop thank you! @NothingTraLaLa I forgot to mention, I just use the free version of MyNetDiary as well.

Today done cleaning, changed the beds and hung out duvets to air outside, going to walk a little at school pick up time.

B: yogurt, canned pineapple, brazil nuts
L: cold roast vegetables, houmous, carrot sticks
D: lemon lentils with cabbage and vegetarian sausage

Probably going to add in something as a special dessert for my daughter, she's won a class election today.

Hoolahoophop · 26/04/2024 11:43

Well done to your daughter @WeirdPookah

Today I had rubbish cereal for breakfast
L: Salad and quiche
D: Baked tomato and basil risotto with salad

Treats, chocolate and gin. It's been a really long week.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 29/04/2024 06:29

Weekly weigh in

SW - 1st Jan - 225 lb (16 st 1 lb - BMI 34.2)
Loss this week - 3 lb
CW - 29th Apr - 194 lb (13 st 12 lb - BMI 29.5)

Total Loss - 31 lb (14% bodyweight)

LemonDrizzle23 · 29/04/2024 07:28

Checking in with my intentions for the week! Hope everyone had a good weekend. Ours was lovely, but involved lots of sitting around with friends and food. My weight has bounced up and down the same 0.5kg every week now for about 4-5 weeks, so hoping to get back some control...

Knee feels better I think, so I'm planning:

  • some gentle walking this week
  • IF where possible
  • calorie control via nutracheck
  • ditching the evening snacking which has come back with a vengeance.

What are everyone's plans this week?

Hoolahoophop · 29/04/2024 08:14

Sounds like we are in a similar place @LemonDrizzle23

My plan for the week.

3x 5k Run
5x Pilates core control
2x fast days with 1000cal max
Calorie count everything
Lots and lots of water
I too need to cut out the evening snack.

ChickenChipsandBeans · 29/04/2024 11:46

20 minute full body dumbbell workout ✔
6km walk ✔

B-Eggs on toast
L- Chicken stir fry
T- Turkish green beans and yoghurt
S- 2 biscuits/strawberries

Changing tactics again, but back to what I know works for me. More exercise, higher daily calories, slower but hopefully steady weight loss.

WeirdPookah · 29/04/2024 12:41

Weekend was a bit of a bust, so very stressed over roof problem, still not entirely resolved. Ended up eating cookies on Saturday, had planned to make some with my girls from the Avatar cookbook, made the Water Tribe Blueberry cookies and had budgeted my calories for those, but then it was so cold we had soup and toast instead of poke bowl for lunch, then after working on the bid problem in the roof apex, we ended up with some packaged cookies too.
Sunday, InLaws came round, and we had lots of things from Lidl's Greek week.

Today, thought somebody would be able to do roof, but he can't, so got to try asking somebody else, but urgh hate dealing with that sort of thing.

Re-inventoried the outside freezer, been shopping. Not exercised, but will do a short walk at school pick up time.

B: black bean burrito
L: toast, egg, avocado, tomato
D: mango almond korma with chicken, cauliflower

talkingdeadscot · 29/04/2024 22:31

Ending the month on staying the same, definitely hit a plateau. I think next month I'll try upping the exercise and water and maybe throw in a bit of fasting. I want to see how much I can lose in the next 2 months which will bring me to one year of trying to lose weight. At least I haven't gained so that's a plus.

SW - 93kg
CW - 65.5kg
GW - 55kg
