Following on from the February thread.

Spring is right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now maintaining around 8st 12lb; although I’d like to see another half stone off 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Another crisp addict here 🙋‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I crave them more than anything else!

Hello! Hope everyone is well - I've decided to join again. Was with Weightwatchers for a year but found it very cliquey - the kicker for me, I went along to a meeting and when it ended (but it was all very quiet and a bit sneaky) the coach and her mum (who attends) along with about 4-5 other women went off for a meal. I'd mentioned we should arrange this for Christmas before but heard nothing. I wasn't that fussed to be honest, but there's a woman who goes every week, come rain or shine, and as we all walked out, she was walking in a different direction to the way she usually walks, to where these women were walking and I know she'd have loved to have been invited, but they didn't do this. It just left a really bad taste in my mouth. Plus although I put a bit of weight on over Christmas it wasn't huge and have lost some since.

how do you wean yourself off them?! I was in hospital recently and a kind friend brought me a 6 pack of plain Hula Hoops plus I like Pop Chips and I discovered (because they were in the reduced section of Tescos) Kettle Chips Sriracha Mayo ones - now I can take or leave Kettle Chips but these are something else. Was super pleased to find them in Waitrose last week!

MrsPepperpotty · 13/03/2024 14:42

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain I'm counting calories (using MyFitnessPal) and also doing 16:8. So I'm allowed a pack of crisps as long as I log it!

TheRealHousewife · 13/03/2024 15:26

Afternoon All

WOW - Maintaining @ 8st 12lbs.

@SewingIsMySuperPower I love your pragmatic attitude and approach 👍

Well done on your losses @LegoTherapy @Rewis @@ScouseOfCards @katmarie @NothingTraLaLa @talkingdeadscot (baby steps post op ❤️) @cwanne 👍👌👏

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain Welcome back ❤️. The group you went too doesn’t sound very nice.

@ImALittlePea Youll soon perk up when your body has processed the processed stuff 👍

@SMG1992 Hormones can be very disruptive! I hope you are soon on a regime that suits you better. I’ve only ever had the combined pill (not on it now) so comment on progesterone only. Perhaps try to get in with GP or nurse at your local practice to discus suitable alternatives.

@LemonDrizzle23 Fabulous step count! 👏

@PatienceOfEngels 😅 Love the sound of your scales.

Menu
Meal 1 - Scrambled egg on flaxseed bread. Fava Bean hummus.
Meal 2 - Prawn stir fry. Greek yoghurt.
Tea, black coffee and water.

@TheRealHousewife i might give it a few weeks but will think about discussing with gp - I’d like to not take any pill but am not risking another baby!! Lol! He’s an angel but pregnancy destroyed my body 😩

Hello all, joining for weigh in.

SW: 95 kg
CW: 89.4 kg
GW: 69 kg

Feeling pleased to be into the 80s, even if only just!

Today was no breakfast other than coffee.
Plain yoghurt and almonds for lunch.
Dinner is tofu, crispy kale and brown rice.

I'll have a snack later as I'm under calories. I did mean to eat more during the day but got caught up in an unexpected work meeting that lasted most of the day.

LemonDrizzle23 · 13/03/2024 18:07

@PatienceOfEngels @MrsPepperpotty @Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain The only way I've managed to get control of it, is to never have the share bag size, and to purposely work a packet into my calories every so often.

Even if I buy a share bag and carefully portion them out, I always end up going back for a second portion 🤦🏼‍♀️ so I feel your pain @PatienceOfEngels

@SMG1992 I've been on the mini pill since DS was born. Although it does have some side effects for me, I don't think I could really blame it for anything to do with weight (that's def food choice related for me). But I would say it took at least 6 months to a year for my body to settle down on it. So if it's early days of you using it, things may feel different in a few months time.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 13/03/2024 19:17

Lots to catch up on! I was around a lb up on last week, but my food choices haven't been brilliant this last week so I'm hoping it will come back off quickly! Been pretty healthy today and just completed a Les mills yoga strength class which was HARD! Ouchy glutes.

wiltingflower · 13/03/2024 20:31

No weight loss this week but that was to be expected as it was mother's day recently and I didn't restrict myself last weekend as a result, plus have been eating a little more than usual this so far. I've managed to maintain my weight overall which is good. I need to get back into doing exercise and resistance training though, that really has dipped in consistency.

SMG1992 · 13/03/2024 20:38

Thanks @LemonDrizzle23 itd only been a few weeks so I’m probably still settling down. I’m 3 months post partum so am trying not to be too hard on myself but also don’t want to fall into bad habits with food and blame motherhood
i definitely need to be a bit more accountable and hopefully some weight will start to come off 🤞🏼

0rganisedchaos · 14/03/2024 08:23

Hey everyone sorry I'm a day late I forgot to weigh before I ate my breakfast yesterday and then realised my actual goal weight isn't a number it's to be so slim that I will willingly step on the scales at any point in the day rather than in the morning naked and as dehydrated as humanly possible.
Week 2 went quite well down 1.5kg 🙌although the weekend was a lost cause so I probably could have lost slightly more so I'll definitely try and make better choices this weekend.

Huge well done to everyone and good luck for next week!!!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 14/03/2024 09:50

Ha @0rganisedchaos I like to get on scales naked, before breakfast, and around 1/2 an hour I've woken up as I've identified that as the lightest point in the day 😂 In our defence, to track progress it's good to be consistent with the weighing conditions!

Relatively healthy day yesterday, hoping for the same again ahead of my weekend away. Planning to eat well, fit in exercise and avoid the 'we're on holiday tomorrow, let's have some wine' approach I normally have before going away!!

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 14/03/2024 10:03

Ha!

I weight naked, first thing in the morning too.

Wake up, go to the toilet, weigh in. If I forget and have a drink or anything then I don't weigh that day as not going off process.

WeirdPookah · 14/03/2024 10:44

Well I've had a week.

After my daughter got sick Saturday night and Mother's Day was a bit of a bust, I got sick Monday night. Nasty. Just started eating properly today. My daughter is being a nightmare, she was like this last time she had a sickness bug, she won't begin to eat again, so she feels ill, stomach aches, weak, because she's not bloody EATING! But thinks she knows best that it is still the bug. Last time it dragged for a whole damn month of her messing about, she's 10 and old enough to understand the explanation. So frustrating and I'm not well enough to have patience with it.
She has another choir event tonight until late, which I have to fetch her from. Fun.

Done no exercise all week of course, wanted to go for a short walk for some air today but obviously it's pouring.

Not the happiest.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 14/03/2024 10:56

Oh that sounds rubbish @WeirdPookah hope you feel up to full strength soon.

How important is choir to her - would 'not well enough to eat, not well enough to attend choir or other activities' work...?

WeirdPookah · 14/03/2024 11:08

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo the choir is a huge deal to her school. I couldn't remove her for the sake of the school, it wouldn't be appropriate at all.

0rganisedchaos · 14/03/2024 11:26

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain glad to know I'm not alone 😂 it's ridiculous because I know in the grand scheme of things a drink or a Weetabix really won't have made that much of a difference but I just can't allow myself to step on once anything has crossed my lips.

@WeirdPookah hope you're both on the mend it sounds like you've had a time of it

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 14/03/2024 11:54

Is there any food she just can't resist? My daughter can sense when I'm thinking about making pancakes and comes running ready to snaffle them all.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 14/03/2024 12:08

Ah, I see @WeirdPookah I hope you can get her back on track soon. Tired, out of sorts children are hard enough, never mind when you are feeling under the weather yourself!

Love the thought of a weetabix tipping the scales @0rganisedchaos 😂

Rewis · 14/03/2024 14:28

I just noticed an ad in our work intra that they were looking for 200 volunteers for a weight management app. There were so many applications within few hours that they had to close it. I didn't have them to sign up. But we will see if they have something else. But it sounded very interesting!

TheRealHousewife · 14/03/2024 20:33

Evening All

My earlier post has gone pooof into the ether 😬

@Rewis That weight management app sounds interesting 🧐

Well done on your progress @GameOfJones @0rganisedchaos

Sounds tough @WeirdPookah. Hope you and your daughter soon find your equilibrium ❤️

Nearly Half way through March already 😯

OP posts:
ThreeRingCircus · 15/03/2024 07:25

I can't believe it's halfway through March either @TheRealHousewife!

Dinner tonight is fish tacos with DDs which I'm looking forward to.

I'm still doing ok with not snacking and sticking to three meals a day. Long may that last!

ImALittlePea · 15/03/2024 07:53

Morning.. I decided to weigh today (wasn't going to), a couple of oz down on 1st March which I'm happy with given we had a full week of throwing all caution and good choices to the wind!

This week has been mostly good, I've been a bit under the weather (mostly just feeling very woozy, very odd), meals have been stuck to and have had a few cookies or sweet treats here and there, and no wine has been drunk. Feeling motivated to stick to this going into the weekend too, which is unusual in this house 😅

Plan for today - still a bit weekendy but that's ok!

Lunch - out, but hoping for a salad or soup
Dinner - homemade pizza with the kids. Likely to be more stress than it's worth!

Have a good Friday everyone
