Following on from the January thread.

February 2024! Start to get Fit & Fabulous by adopting healthy eating habits & moving more. Join-in to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now I’m back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Follow along to get Fit & Fabulous in readiness for the long awaited Spring and a bit of sunshine ☀️

Started properly. Jet lag has kicked in which yesterday made me reach for the cookie jar.

i had my last bit of food at 7pm. Just water since. Got body pump at 0945 and will have a carvery at 1245.
weighed myself today and I’m at 71kg which I’m really pleased with because I’ve lost a couple of lbs on holiday

I have some lunches planned this week that are “healthy” and I have some gym classes booked

have a good week all

LegoTherapy · 25/02/2024 09:56

Morning all! Hope you are having a good weekend. Ds and I had a fantastic day in the big, dirty city yesterday and enjoyed Starbucks, McDonald's, bubble tea and a doughnut 😱 The McDonald's burger felt like it was still sat in my oesophagus last night but I enjoyed it at the time. It will be the Easter holidays before we go near a McDonald's and the rest again so I'm not worried about a day off from sensible eating and I was too full to eat any dinner so in the great scheme of things it's not so bad. Even if it was bad it's just one day and life's too short.

Weighed in yesterday before going out and sure enough I've gained a kilo at the end of my period.

@PatienceOfEngels don't worry about it, just pick it up again when you can.

I'm up to 64 miles walked/bounced this week and hoping to hit 70 by the end of today.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday!

Gemstonebeach · 25/02/2024 13:02

I’ve got COVID and am feeling pretty rubbish :( not much weight loss recently but have not put weight back on either.

EndlessGuineaPigCycle · 25/02/2024 13:18

@PatienceOfEngels I'm sorry to hear you are feeling like that, I have also had a bad Feb so far and am finding it very hard to get back into the swing of things. I've put at least a kilo back on since the start of this month. I'm trying to do some batch cooking today to help next week, got lentil bolognese bubbling away atm. Over the last few days, I've got back into exercising and cooking healthy meals. Its just I've also been giving in to chocolate cravings on a regular basis so been going way over my calorie budget quite often. I'm trying not to be too hard on myself and just do what I can. Previously if I couldn't stick to a diet I stopped bothering to even make healthy meals and just ate junk throughout the day which wasn't good!

Menu today
B Porridge with milled flax seeds, pomegranate and freeze dried blueberry powder
L Veg chilli with garlic bread
D Parmigiana with brocolli
S frothy coffee, Highlights, apple

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 25/02/2024 15:05

Feeling very weary hungover after my night out, so it's all about the comfort food today. I'm away with work for a couple of days too this week, so that will be a challenge on the healthy eating and exercise front. So if I manage to maintain this week I'll take it as a win!

wiltingflower · 25/02/2024 16:55

It's been a really difficult month! Half term messed me up, especially a girl's day out with daytime-to-evening drinking, Pancake day and pancakes for the following days until all the pancakes were gone! I was eating and drinking freely, whatever I liked. The drinks and food were not even worth it, it wasn't delicious and I was so disappointed with this.

I've been so bloated and sickly feeling and wanting to eat everything post half term. My period came and left too. This meant I've had to go back to a strict diet from maintenance as I seemed to have put on a couple of kilos. So gutted as I had only just finally achieved my goal weight for a couple of days. This depressed me plus a range of cherished or essential things that broke and a few relationship issues. I need to learn how to maintain my weight for now and the future, it's really hard eating in moderation.

I'm slowly getting back to the progress I made at the start of the month. In a sense I can't wait for March because this month has felt like never ending daily bad luck.

ThreeRingCircus · 26/02/2024 07:54

Hello all, back again for the start of another week. I don't think I'm going to hit my goal for Feb which was to lose 4lbs....but still a couple of days to go so I'm going to be strict with myself and see where I get to.

I walked 5 miles on Saturday and another 5 miles on Sunday. We headed out with DDs and took a picnic and it was lovely.....and free! I'm definitely going to keep that up, we were out for hours yesterday in the fresh air and all slept much better for it.

I'm not sure on today's meal plan. DDs have leftover sausage pasta but DH and I will need to have something else. I'm thinking chicken thai green curry.

I'm off to the gym at lunchtime too so that will be exercise covered.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 26/02/2024 08:31

So had a week off while in Butlin's and ate everything, everything!

Scales say I've had a 5lb increase in 1 week but I'm also on my period so I think that's a combo of actual increase and water weight.

Back to the grindstone today, and will see what the scales say next Monday.

ImALittlePea · 26/02/2024 09:03

Agreement and solidarity with those finding this month a slog. Tbh the year so far has been over here. Just always feels like there's something to contend with and rock the motivation.

Anyway, it's nearly March now - it can only get better eh!

My weekend was better than average. Had a couple of social plans that would normally be pretty boozy - and I did still have wine, but much less than normal. We didn't have takeaway, made sure I had salad or extra veg with meals, and not so much snacking.

Now just waiting for the hall to open for my morning class to kick start the week.

Meals:
L - houmous, cheddar and salad wrap, and a banana
D - chicken breast (may rub with some spices), sweet potato and greens

Let's do this 😁

CumbrianExile · 26/02/2024 10:03

Oh @IImALittlePea I am totally with you on the year so far. There seems to have always been something to knock me off track.

I'm back to the weight I started at in January. Actually plus 0.2lb heavier.

But it's a new week, almost a new month, the kids are back to school and it's time for me to knuckle down. I have 14 weeks til I go on holiday (to Wales) and I want to get at least a stone down before then. Maybe 1.5 stone.

WeirdPookah · 26/02/2024 11:09

What did February do to us??

I have been totally off plan most of the month, what with birthday celebrations, and then this weekend, my husband was away all weekend and I ended up eating so much. Was awful.

Been for an hours walk this morning, food planned and really really have to stick with it. I am horrified at my weekend really.

B: kidney bean burrito
L: egg, wholemeal slice of toast, mushrooms
D: mango almond chickpea korma, cauliflower

maybein2022 · 26/02/2024 11:39

Hi all, sorry to have been quiet, hope everyone is doing ok.

After my 2lb gain last week, I am pleased to report I had a really good week and lost 7lb! Slightly in shock but I really upped the walking and was strict with food (but all lovely food!) so I am so pleased. That’s a total of 23lb lost since Jan 1st, and a running total of 4st 5lb.

Plan this week keep focused! Hope everyone has a good week.

LumionaMoonsplash · 26/02/2024 18:04

I agree everyone about Feb. I've been ill, had a terrible period, (thanks peri-meno), had a big boozy night out, my chocolate and wine cravings have been out of control. I have gained and lost around 3lbs throughout this month. The net result being a 1lb loss since the 1st of Feb to this morning. 😒

Thankfully it's still a loss and adds to all the decent losses in previous months. I have however smashed the weights this month and my body shape has definitely changed, I have a waist again.

LumionaMoonsplash · 26/02/2024 18:05

Well done @maybein2022 👏 23lbs in 2 months is incredible.

LegoTherapy · 26/02/2024 18:37

February has been rubbish but a new month is coming. I've been feeling ill all day and in quite a lot of pain despite heavy duty painkillers. I had my usual porridge for breakfast then lots of biscuits as that's all I could stomach. Toast and marmalade then yogurt and berries for dinner. I'm just waiting on bedtime now.

@maybein2022 that's amazing!! I bet you feel on top of the world with that!

I think I'll be ending the month with zero loss. It's definitely harder once you are close to target and I just keep losing and gaining the same kilo. I'm not sure I care too much to be honest. Dd described me as a MILF last night after saying I had a good body for a woman of my 47 years and asking if I thought my boobs would ever drop! Her compliments need work! A milf indeed! Such objectification from a young feminist. I felt quite icky. I'd rather be seen as more than my physical self no matter what my age. Still, high praise from her I suppose!

Onwards, we just keep taking one step after another and creeping towards those goals. Except the super losers who need to share their secrets 😃

ChickenChipsandBeans · 27/02/2024 08:02

Well, February has been a load of rubbish. Yesterday I was 3ķg heavier than on the 1st of February. Today 1kg of that had gone, but just a huge reminder how quickly I can put on weight. A few too many drinks, a small chocolate bar everyday and a few crisps here and there combined with 3 weeks of no exercise because I did my knee in and 3kg up! So, it's time to get serious again. The lighter mornings and hints of Spring are making me realise Summer is very much on it's way and I want to be at my 60kg goal for when schools break up. I do not want to be an overweight sweating mess like I was last year. Restarted my daily 5km walks yesterday, felt great to be out moving again, my knee is not ready for cardio or squats and lunges yet, it feels very weak if that makes sense, but I am at least walking regularly again. I hope to stay motivated, stop the feeling sorry for myself snacks and lose 3kg a month.

CW 72.7kg
GW 60kg

PatienceOfEngels · 27/02/2024 08:25

Thank you all for making me feel better by having a rubbish February as well 😂I had such a good January - lots of yoga and walking, healthy food choices and routines - that it's been a bit of a shock to be exhausted with no willpower or motivation to do the things I know are good for me. Trying to turn it around today with a more positive mindset as we head into March. The sun is shining today and I'm going to try and sow some sweet peas inside this weekend and spruce up my garden ready for Spring.

Too much junk and evening eating (mostly the junk), less regular yoga and walks has seen my weight go up by 1.5kg so now a bit further from my goal. I have successfully stayed off alcohol (13.5 months and counting!) and been out on my new bike a few times.

The one thing I've done in February that has made me feel better is getting a haircut and trying out a new serum to protect. My hair feels so soft still a week on from the hairdresser.

Journalling has been tough to maintain, though I have managed to keep up my Joy Journal (one thing everyday that has brought me joy) and sitting in my sunny living room, listening to a blackbird singing outside is going on the list for today.

ChickenChipsandBeans · 27/02/2024 09:49

@PatienceOfEngels You're welcome 😂

WeirdPookah · 27/02/2024 11:08

It's a good job February is short! Though I now have two weekends coming with Mothers Day celebrations. And absolute meeting myself going backwards with choir events, swapped sports evenings, academic clubs.

I am so close to a super significant milestone weight, and I don't know why my brain loves to make me sabotage that. I haven't been this low for years.

Been for a walk today, got some more different foods for my cat to try. She's so old now, 21, just trying to keep her fed. She's fit though, no arthritis or pains. Runs like a mad thing up and down the stairs still.

B: kidney bean burrito
L: tahini siracha lentils, leeks, cabbage
D: split pea veggie sausage stew, rye bread toast

TheRealHousewife · 27/02/2024 13:22

Good Afternoon All

February has absolutely flown by 😯. I’ll try to get our March thread before close tomorrow 👍

@PatienceOfEngels Sometimes we just have to go with the flow, especially when we are feeling run down and ragged. I think you’ve done great by just coming back and setting your intentions. Be kind to yourself, have yourself a bit of nurturing and I hope you soon feel more settled ❤️

Menu
Meal 1 - Flaxseed roll and almond butter. Pecans.
Meal 2 - Pan fried Tuna with stir fry. Greek yoghurt & strawberries.
Tea, black coffee with inulin, water & acv.

Thanks for the good wishes @TheRealHousewife Had a good chat with my DSis yesterday who is also feeling awful about herself at the moment (4 months postpartum) and it really helped to talk it through.

Flowerchild547 · 28/02/2024 07:33

1lb loss this week. I’m fine with that as I’ve been fluctuating between 1-2lbs the past few days so I’m sure it won’t be long until the next one goes.

Can’t believe how quickly this month has gone. Once again, I don’t think I’ve been strict enough with myself however I don’t know if I would have stuck to the diet had I not have had treats and meals out. I am recognising that most of my socialising happens around food so in order to not isolate myself I need to be able to make good choices wherever I am and not use it as an excuse to pig out!!

Have a lovely Wednesday all!

CW: 16st 6
SW: 17st 10
GW: 10st 10
Loss this week: 1lb

LemonDrizzle23 · 28/02/2024 07:34

Good luck for WOW everyone!

My loss this week has been about 1kg - although half of that was the previous week's gain 🙄 February has been a slog for lots of people it seems!

SW: 97.5
CW: 93.6
5%: 92.5

Nearly at my first goal of 5% off. The 5% figure will also take me to my lowest weight since Sept 2020.

I have 4 weeks til we head off on holiday, so hoping to make the best of March! Will keep an eye out for the new thread - thank you for your continued dedication to these @TheRealHousewife !

My intention this week is to stick to IF and as it's a quiet weekend, no eating out.

Was woken up at 5am today by my 6yr old who is having a growth spurt and was starving hungry. So a tired start to the day here...

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 28/02/2024 08:00

Everyone is doing so well, keep it up ladies!

Butlin's gain was just water weight, 4lbs down since Monday which is definitely not actual fat loss so only 1lb more than I was pre-eating frenzy 😂
