⭐️ Open to All ⭐️

Following on from the January thread.

February 2024! Start to get Fit & Fabulous by adopting healthy eating habits & moving more. Join-in to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now I’m back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Follow along to get Fit & Fabulous in readiness for the long awaited Spring and a bit of sunshine ☀️

Apologies about being missing in action; it’s just been very busy and I’ve intended to pop on but stuff got in the way 😬

Some great results are being shared, thank you! For those who’ve gained a little or plateaued just keep going, be honest about what you’re eating and don’t sweat the numbers on the scales. Weight does naturally fluctuate.

Last couple of weeks my weight is fluctuating between 9st 1lb and 8st 12lb. I’ll just keep going 👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Hungarian Mushroom Soup. Flaxseed bread roll.
Meal 2 - Red lentil dhal (I think). Great yogurt. Walnuts.
Tea, black coffee with inulin, water with acv.

@ImALittlePea cross posted. Sounds tough re: your dd and going to nursery. I hope she quickly settles ❤️

Thanks @TheRealHousewife and nice to see you! It's one of those things, I remember my eldest going through the same phase, but it just ramps up the mum guilt! It won't last forever but it's never nice to see your child cry when you have to leave them 😥

WeirdPookah · 20/02/2024 10:48

Had a hormonal headache since Friday, took extra painkillers and went out for a walk and it was a lot windier than I thought, coming back in face wind, it actually staggered me a couple of times. But still walked for an hour.

Need to find a recipe for plantain or green banana curry to deal with a bunch of bananas over a week still bright green and solid.

B: kidney bean burrito
L: tahini siracha lentils, cabbage, leek
D: baked potato, beans, cheese, tomatoes

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 20/02/2024 11:05

I had grand plans to try to be good while on holiday but had a huge 'fuck it' moment yesterday and have decided that what happens in Butlins stays in Butlins.

Roast pork dinner and lemon cheesecake last night
Full English this morning

I'll pay for it on the scales next Monday but Hey Ho, these things happen.

ImALittlePea · 20/02/2024 11:07

Well done for getting out @WeirdPookah especially when you're not well. I hope the headache subsides soon!

Allow yourself to indulge on holiday @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain you can reset when you're back 😄

I opted for the soup. It was delicious! Following with a banana for extra energy. Have had a lovely lazy morning after getting on top of chores yesterday, very rare to just have an hour to chill and read. Now off to work but in a much better mindset overall.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 20/02/2024 11:20

@FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain I once read some advice which really resonated with me.

If you're on holiday, you stay out in the sun for too long and start getting sunburned do you say:
God, I've overdone it slightly, better cover up and stay in the shade for a bit
OR
Sod it, I've started to burn so I might as well stay out in the full sun and get burnt all over.

Obviously we'd all do thd first option.

So we need to do the same when dieting - if we have a couple of biscuits, do NOT think "sod it, I've broken my diet anyway so might as well eat the rest of the packet"

It works (mostly) for me. Even on holiday!

LegoTherapy · 20/02/2024 13:53

I agree that you should definitely enjoy your holiday. I did and regret nothing at all. These times are previous. Embrace them @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain

@WeirdPookah well done. I don't know what I'd do without my walking. It's so good for physical and mental health. You'll feel much better for it and hopefully it helped your headache.

@ImALittlePea mum guilt is the pits. But you said no to chips??? Woah! Chef chips too! You win the will power award of the month for sure 😃

@TheRealHousewife You are always a steady presence with steady losses. Hungarian mushroom soup sounds lovely. So many of you have interesting meals. I'm so boring but I'm making potato dauphinoise this week. Ds pulled a face at that of course. I've bought 00 flour to see if my pizza bases improve.

AF arrived 5 days late (yay perimenopause!) and the pain is bad so I'm watching the Golden Girls with a hot water bottle while I have lunch. Lunch was a toasted buttered muffin, tea and a sultana scone with butter and strawberry jam. I was ravenous after cleaning my mum's house including her windows after walking along the canal to hers after the school run. Breakfast was porridge of course. 4.5 miles so far. I'll be happy with 8 miles today. Not expecting a loss tomorrow with AF although sometimes the weight gain comes towards the endHmm bodies are weird!

Here's hoping we all have a good result tomorrow. Lots of water today might shift things for us. And if not then we will just keep plodding on.

TheRealHousewife · 20/02/2024 15:04

Thank you @LegoTherapy .

You are very welcome @ImALittlePea … i agree it’s very painful to leave little ones in tears 😢.

ImALittlePea · 20/02/2024 17:03

Very eloquently put @EmmaGrundyForPM and I wholeheartedly agree - although find it hard to be in that mindset!

I do believe I had superhero powers yesterday @LegoTherapy my pubs chips are incredible!

I did however have a cave today - not through choice but I had one of my funny turns and felt faint. Had a couple of small biscuits and two pieces of olive focaccia, and loads of water.

Kids have been super difficult since pick up and there's some open wine in the fridge (has been open since Friday - only opened for cooking with and not a drop drunk!) which is now tempting me. I will avoid though... 😬😄

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/02/2024 17:16

Lots of chat to catch up on! Nursery separation anxiety is awful @LegoTherapy At some point, quicker than you'd think, they'll be a teen looking at you with horror when you suggest spending time with them. I'm not sure which is worse 😂

Back on eating plan today, though I did have a sweet treat at work. About to do a strength class. I still feel dreadful, my period really knocks me for six, I wish they'd hurry up and finish. My mum's stopped when she was really young, it's just not fair that I'm still putting up with them in my early fifties!

I had a sneaky peak on the scales this morning and was amazed to be 1/2lb down from last week's WOW. I suppose even though I overindulged, I didn't over indulge on wine and I think that saved me. We'll see what tomorrow brings! New week and all that (well, new weight week anyway).

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/02/2024 18:38

Strength class - done! And I feel so much better for it! Hurrah!

LegoTherapy · 20/02/2024 18:48

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo I have 2 teenagers and the heartbreaking stress they are putting me through has quite honestly made me wish their dad had killed me like I feared. Nothing prepared me for these years. But mine have been poisoned by their father. Each stage is hard in its own way. Dd is 15 and my middle child. She walks ahead or behind in our home town which is a small town, but anywhere else she will link arms or in places like London she will hold my hand. She still calls me mummy, wants hugs and for me to make her a hot water bottle and bake with her but god forbid she is seen with me by someone she knows 🤣 I cried leaving them at nursery a few times. More than they cried! When they started school, left primary, started secondary, went on residentials, when they first said they hated me etc., Being a mum is the hardest thing I've ever done. I've learnt to roll with the punches to the heart and hold on to the lovely times. They are all amazing despite everything.

Had banana pancakes with maple syrup for dinner with some melon as a starter after reading the orange juice thread.

Weigh day tomorrow so pizza for dinner 🤣

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/02/2024 19:42

Totally hear you on the not wanting to be seen with you in public @LegoTherapy (sorry got my last post mixed up and now see it's @ImALittlePea who had the nursery separation). The last time we took DS to cinema, he was an anxious mess in case someone from school saw him!

But mostly sorry to read about what sounds like a terrible situation with your DCs dad. ☹️

ItsTapasTime · 21/02/2024 07:18

Morning all.
5:2 and 12 hour fasts ( not this week!🙁)

Started 01.01.2024
SW: 74 Kg
CW: 70.7 Kg
Loss this week: Gain!! 0.8kg!
1st GW: 63Kg (June holiday).

Ive had an awful week and have compensated by eating and drinking crap. A 0.8kg gain isn’t that bad considering. It just goes to show what mindless snacking and comfort eating does.
Anyway, back on plan now. Onwards and downwards.
Hope you’ve all had a good week

LegoTherapy · 21/02/2024 07:53

Morning all!
Wow today of 56.05kg and I'm happy with that. That's a loss of nearly 3lbs since last Wednesday.
Hope you all get good results. @ItsTapasTime just keep going, it will come off soon.

Flowerchild547 · 21/02/2024 08:16

I remember when we started nursery that I would feel so guilty and cry more than he did! A year or so later, he’s so excited to go and is absolutely loving it!
I definitely agree that being a mum is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Every stage is hard but so rewarding.

Not a huge loss this week but a loss all the same. I have had a word with husband and he is NOT to bring any treats into the house. I have the will power of a toddler and cannot resist temptation.

Goal for the week is to up the water intake!

SW: 17st 10
GW: 10st 10
CW: 16st 7
Loss this week: 1lb

Newbornmum · 21/02/2024 08:17

Morning everyone, 0.9kg loss this week so happy with that. I've been on antibiotics and taking painkillers so it's been all over the place. 4.5 kilos to go! It's occurred to me that if we start trying for baby#2 when DS turns 1, that's only a few months away and I definitely want to be fitter, healthier and down to a happy weight before then! Well done everyone on all your efforts this week whether gain, maintain or loss 🌻❤️

MrsPepperpotty · 21/02/2024 08:58

SW: 15st 4
CW: 14st 4
GW: 11st 11
Loss this week: 4lb

Well, this was a good reminder that weight loss isn't linear. In the last three weigh ins put together I lost a measly 1lb in total. Started to feel disheartened. Then this week I stuck to it and dropped 4lb!! Really pleased Smile

LemonDrizzle23 · 21/02/2024 09:07

Well according to the scales I've put on 1.5kg in the last 6 days 🧐

It has been a calorie heavy week, but I'm not sure I quite believe that. Or maybe it's just wishful thinking! I will see a more accurate picture over the next few days I reckon...

Well done to all the WOW losers!

talkingdeadscot · 21/02/2024 09:10

Morning all..... WOW

SW (June 2023) - 93kg
First Goal - 72kg (achieved Christmas 2023)
GW - 55kg
CW - 67.5kg

A loss of 0.5kg. It's sooooo slow but I have to remember that's a total of 4.5kg since Christmas (or 10lbs). Going to try and shake things up a bit as I'm getting really bored and that's dangerous. Does anyone follow any specific regime? Or is it just limiting yourselves with your amazing willpower? I find it really hard when I'm only cooking for one. Any ideas gratefully received :)

talkingdeadscot · 21/02/2024 09:11

Well done @MrsPepperpotty it's so hard to keep going when you have a run of low or no losses. Paid off though!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/02/2024 09:46

Amazed to report 1lb loss this week. That's me snuck under 10st 7lbs. That initial goal of 10st 4lb is started to feel achievable!

WeirdPookah · 21/02/2024 10:15

I did weigh in today, my week long of birthday celebrations, cake and more cake has put me only 2lbs up.

Which I will absolutely take! Haven't "lost" my over 60lbs down badge either!

But every single weekend now is something, every week has me running round like a headless chicken with clubs, choir, sports. Then we are going away for a week in the Easter Holidays.

Newname2308 · 21/02/2024 10:38

SW 70kg
WoW 21/2 61.9 kg, down 1.6 since last WoW 🎉
TW 60, then 56 kg

Tape measure is missing do I can’t measure my waist. I’ll buy another one and get back to that 👍
