Following on from the January thread.

February 2024! Start to get Fit & Fabulous by adopting healthy eating habits & moving more. Join-in to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now I’m back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Follow along to get Fit & Fabulous in readiness for the long awaited Spring and a bit of sunshine ☀️

Hi all, coming on to report my WoW....a 1lb loss which I'm very pleased with considering half term last week and I had quite a few meals out.

SW: 15st 1lb
CW: 14st 3lbs
GW: 11st but my initial goal is to get to my first stone off, ideally by the end of next week if I can keep this focus.

Yesterday I had garlic mushrooms on sourdough for dinner and didn't snack in the evening. I went to bed with a killer headache but it seems to have gone today thank goodness.

Food today:

Meal 1: greek yoghurt, flaxseed, raspberries and honey

Meal 2: prawn thai green curry with brown rice and lots of green veg.

Coffee and water other than that and for exercise I'm keeping up with my walking.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/02/2024 12:41

Today's menu while I'm logging it on nutracheck:

B - boiled egg, seeded toast with butter, cup of tea
L - home made spring veg soup, 2x falafels and humous, pear (whopping 15 g fibre in one mealtime!)
D - pick of nom Cajun dirty rice, swapping out white rice for brown.

No snacks yet, and planning a bodycombat class later.

LumionaMoonsplash · 21/02/2024 12:43

SW: 15st
CW: 13st 4lb
3lbs loss in a week after very little movement all month.

Very happy with this, heading towards the next St.

ImALittlePea · 21/02/2024 12:51

Well done WoWers! Some excellent results and accountability coming through.

I ended up having two small glasses of wine last night 🤦‍♀️ but given on another week that could easily have been two larges (or the whole bottle!), I'm feeling ok about it. I know that my intentions for the week have now been broken on two fronts, but that's life isn't it. Still worth setting the intentions ❤️

Just had the second half of the tomato and lentil soup, this time with an artisan roll and a little spread of butter - after the faint episode yesterday I clearly need a bit more at this stage of the road to lower cals overall.

Dinner is going to be loaded baked potato (butter, cheese, bacon, spring onion) and a big salad.

Working tonight so my main focus is to have nothing but water once I'm there 💧

NothingTraLaLa · 21/02/2024 15:27

Well done everyone for keeping going, whether the scales are being kind or not. I still don’t have my scales back yet as the bathroom isn’t finished, but hope to report in on Friday. I imagine the number will be less than optimal 😬

VallesMarineris · 21/02/2024 19:40

I've lost another of the binge pounds. Walked to the town yesterday and back again. I'm delighted with new glasses which feel like new eyes. Hope to catch up with all the posts if I get an early night.

EndlessGuineaPigCycle · 21/02/2024 23:18

Hi all,
I've not posted in a while as been finding it all a struggle over the past couple of weeks.
I am determined to carry on with the good progress I was making so am posting my menu for tomorrow
B Porridge with milled flax seeds and blueberries
L Lentil Risotto with pecorino cheese
D Mexican egg rolls with kale
S frothy coffee, protein yoghurt and highlights
Treadmill and lots of water!

ThreeRingCircus · 22/02/2024 07:25

Morning everyone. Well done all for keeping on with keeping on!

Today's plan:

B - coffee and banana

L - vegetable soup

D - risotto with some of the home grown veg that is still in my freezer from last summer. Mainly courgette and french beans. I need to make freezer space for the new veg I'll be growing this year!

My intention is to remember to take my vitamins! I seem to be out of the habit but I do feel better when I take them and I should definitely be taking my iron this week due to time of the month.

TheRealHousewife · 22/02/2024 09:10
Good Morning GIF

Good Morning

It appears my post yesterday didn’t post.

Yesterday’s WOW - 8st 13lbs.

@EndlessGuineaPigCycle Sorry to read that it’s been a tough few weeks. The miserable damp wet weather doesn’t help! I hope you soon feel more settled ❤️

@VallesMarineris I love getting new glasses. Mine never seem to look new and sparkly for long though. It doesn’t help that I drop them an awful lot 😅

@ImALittlePea I am loving your pragmatic approach. Life is for living and at times that involves wine 🍷🥰

@ThreeRingCircus @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo@LumionaMoonsplash @Newname2308 @talkingdeadscot @MrsPepperpotty Well done on your losses👍

@ItsTapasTime @WeirdPookah @LemonDrizzle23 Gaining can be a bit of a heart sinker. Remember most overnight gains will most likely water and waste. Keep going 👍

@LegoTherapy Sounds tough ❤️

Menu
Meal 1 - 3 Egg omelette and side salad.

Meal 2 - Chorizo, halloumi, red pepper & white cabbage bowl. Greek yoghurt & blueberries.

Tea, black coffee and water.

Is there anyone on the thread with knowledge around blood glucose levels?

EmmaGrundyForPM · 22/02/2024 09:20

Hi, I'm.down 2.5 lbs since last week but think that is because I wasn't wellat the weekend so hardly ate anything.

I went out to the pub last night with my ds for dinner. It was basically a choice between pizza, burgers or fish and chips. I opted for a pizza but refrained from ordering a side of chips. And I only ate about 2/3 of it.

I've just had 2 HB eggs for breakfast. Lunch will be soup with a couple of ryvita. Dinner will probably be aubergine curry with homemade naans.

I'm now down to 11.8, so feel 11.4 - which is my intermediate goal - is within reach.

Well done to all of you who are sticking to.your plans.

WeirdPookah · 22/02/2024 10:27

I STILL have a headache. A whole week now. Still awful levels, nausea, dizzyness this morning. Honestly, if men had to bloody put up with hormonal crap like this, it would have been fixed 100 years ago. So fed up and frustrated. And it's pouring, so can't go for a walk.

Got a Morrisons delivery, they offered a free delivery, I stopped years ago as they were awful. Still awful.

Ordered a sack of flour, which arrived ripped and muddy down the side and I told the guy I'm not accepting for hygiene reasons, nor the severely dented cans and he seemed taken aback. And take back all the stupid subs, I ordered two types of canned beans, one is half subbed out, so they send a different bean, not another couple cans of the ones I did order. Same with dessert pots for children. Why not sub more of the item I did pick, instead of a random other item?

So feeling really crabby. Thankfully wasn't reliant on anything arriving to eat today.

Forgot yesterdays menu
B: black bean burrito
L: butternut nutbutter spicy "soup" (it's curry sauce) broccoli
D: german style lentil stew, rye bread

Today:
B: black bean burrito
L: moth bean dal, poppadom's (microwaved)
D: roast vegetables, salmon

TheRealHousewife · 22/02/2024 11:13

@EmmaGrundyForPM Well done on your loss 👍 Not far to go goal ! Eggs are an eggcelent breakfast food 😁

Oh my dear @WeirdPookah it sounds very much like you are having a dreadful period! Hormones make or break us, literally. Is it something you feel you could visit gp about as how you describe doesn't sound normal (although it might have become your normal). I hate the thought of you suffering needlessly ❤️. Shopping subs are the work of the devil 👿.

Hi all

have been invited over to this thread by another mnetter on another thread

im looking to lose 10kg by mid June for a girls holiday

currently on holiday in Thailand and flying home tomorrow. Intend to “start” properly on Saturday with 16.8 approach, trying to cut out junk and going to body pump / spin 🤞🤞

LegoTherapy · 22/02/2024 12:54

@LoudSnoringDog welcome! I'm glad you've come over to this fabulous thread and I'm sure you will find it helpful. It's helped me lose over 2stone. Lots of great successes on here along with periods of gain/frustration/being human. No judgement from or towards anyone in all my time on here so I really hope you find it supportive. Enjoy the rest of your holiday!

WeirdPookah · 22/02/2024 14:07

@TheRealHousewife it's all hormones, the only Pills that work are the "old-school" ones they won't let you take when you are all old and decrepit! I've tried loads of the other ones, one gave my cystic acne on my chest, one put me permanently in bitchiest PMT mode, one made my period last 2 weeks. So I won't try any other more significant hormone thing like implant, coil etc as what if they are as bad as some of the pills?
And because it's hormonal, most painkillers do nothing. Dispersible aspirin under my tongue is the only thing that will partially take the edge off.

I've seen a few people on threads saying they are in "confirmed" peri-menopause. Is this something the GP's can do?

TheRealHousewife · 22/02/2024 15:18

Welcome to the thread @LoudSnoringDog 👍 Years ago we did a South East Asia Cruise that took in parts of Thailand! Loved it!

@LegoTherapy Thank you for the recommendation ❤️

@WeirdPookah You poor thing! You have my absolute sympathy! ❤️‍🩹I unbeknowningly suffered from endometriosis and adenomyosis (sp) for 10 years. One GP said it was normal for periods to be so debilitating! Only a laparoscopy can diagnose endo which I had to badger to get for the consultant to then say it was the worse case he’d ever seen. Regarding being peri or not I think they can take a blood sample and check hormone levels. The problem is if they are fluctuating up and down and the blood test is a snapshot 🤷‍♀️ I still think it’s worth talking to your gp or specialist nurse.

LemonDrizzle23 · 23/02/2024 09:15

Sorry you're struggling @WeirdPookah I saw a neurofen advert on TV the other day, where they interviewed women on how their pain had been dealt with by health care professionals. The point of the ad is them recommitting to help women's pain be recognised and taken seriously.
'About fucking time' was my response...

Well I was moaning on WOW that I appeared to have put on 1.5kg in a week, after (admittedly) a number of meals out. Two days later, over 1kg of that has vanished as quickly as it arrived. A good reminder not to give it all up when the scales do crazy things!

ImALittlePea · 23/02/2024 09:23

Oh @WeirdPookah I hope you're feeling better soon 😔

Absolutely right @LemonDrizzle23 the scales are just nonsense sometimes 😅

My WoF is a measly 2lb loss BUT the last couple of days have been insanely stressful which all built up and culminated in a takeaway and wine last night. So I think had we had the light meal as planned, I'd have probably lost the lb I was after. Life happens, I'm ok with that.

I'm already planning my meals for next week, going to focus on lots of grilled chicken, veg/salad and sweet potato.

I'm out for dinner tonight, about to have a peruse of the menu so I can try and make my choices before I'm there and feeling hungry 😬😂

Happy Friday lovely losers!

WeirdPookah · 23/02/2024 10:46

Thank you @TheRealHousewife I guess it would answer my wondering if this is things starting to wind down. @LemonDrizzle23 it's awful, women are consistently dismissed.
My internal stiches split after my semi-emergency caesarean, male GP told me I had a chest infection, gave me antibiotics that would have damaged my babies teeth forever had I not read the warnings myself and didn't take them. Sent me home, doubled over, unable to stand straight, walking with a walking pole.
Midwife saw me next day as I started running a fever and sent me to hospital, eventually somebody thought they might check my wound and then all hell broke loose as they shouted they could see my bowels. Off to emergency surgery.
I TOLD people I felt something rip inside. Nobody believed me or my pain.

@ImALittlePea thank you, it's subsided slightly today. But still miserable. It's levels I believe would floor most people, but I have no choice but to continue.

My husband is away until Sunday, and my stupid brain, in a fog of an over a week long headache, decided nobody can see me eat a cinnamon buns, so lets eat them. Also promised my girls Indian food tonight as a treat, and chips tomorrow!

TheRealHousewife · 23/02/2024 15:43

Good Afternoon Everyone

@LemonDrizzle23 I agree the scales can be contrary 😬. As long as your trend is generally downwards small gains are nothing to worry about; albeit it’s annoying!

@ImALittlePea I think 2lb is a marvellous loss! Well done! 👏

@WeirdPookah Youve certainly been through it lovie! I think health staff should listen to their patients more … we are after all our own ‘experts’ on what is and is not normal for us!

Menu
Meal 1 - Halloumi stir fry.
Meal 2 - Asia salad with chicken and peanut and lime dressing.
Tea, black coffee and water.

OP posts:
ImALittlePea · 23/02/2024 17:38

Lol, I very much mistyped in my prior post @TheRealHousewife.... 2lb would indeed be a fantastic loss! Mine, however, was 2oz. Whoops 🤦‍♀️🤣

LegoTherapy · 23/02/2024 20:31

@WeirdPookah I hope you are feeling better. My GP did my hormone levels and said I was in peri. It was the FSH level that was out of range for me. Oestrogen was lower than ideal. Of all the painkillers I have been on over the years (endometriosis confirmed at 19), no matter what I take I find a hot water bottle brings that extra level of relief and comfort when combined with all the drugs. Is there a different GP you can see who might offer you something better? It's such a basic thing not to be in pain and you shouldn't have to suffer like thisFlowers

55 miles so far this week and I'm aiming for 70 by Sunday night. That might be a personal best. Off to the big, dirty city tomorrow for a Lego convention type thing and will walk a fair bit. Will also have McDonald's for lunch most likely along with a Starbucks or bubble tea. It's a treat day for dads and me. I really should get back to calorie counting next week but I end up forgetting to log stuff. Must do better.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. Don't forget the 🍾 be share it really does make a big difference.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 24/02/2024 10:10

Hope you are starting to feel a bit better @WeirdPookah I remember the pill changing formula years ago and I had to stop using it because of the rage it induced and I didn't get on with the coil at all.

Been pretty good on the food and exercise front over the last few days. Have discovered half bottles of wine in M&S, so had that last night rather than opening a full sized bottle and accidentally drinking it all.

I've got a fancy black tie thing tonight, so that will blow the calories, but I've set an easier day on nutracheck. I was going to go out for a big walk today because it's the perfect weather for it, but forgot I had a hair appointment.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

LemonDrizzle23 · 24/02/2024 15:52

The weekend has started well. Fasted this morning, light lunch and then the gym. Managed 10km on the bike and 3km walk and then a good stretch. I don't spend enough time stretching properly after exercise - it's glorious!

Out with friends for steak tonight, so have done the same as @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo and set an easy day on nutracheck. Out for lunch tomorrow as well, but will just have to reign it in 😂

I hope everyone else is having a good weekend!

PatienceOfEngels · 25/02/2024 07:26

Dropped off the thread a bit.

February is not going well. Feeling stressed and run down. The end of my cycle has me exhausted and craving carbs and junk. All my good habits seem to have gone out of the window and just getting out of bed, showered and in clean clothes, and getting through the day seems to be my limit. Have put on weight rather than lost it this month (up 0.8kg from the beginning of the month). Feeling really mentally overloaded and almost jittery, like I can't relax.

Aims for today -

-try to get outside
-drink lots of water
-no evening snacking
-try to stay off my phone as much as possible
-do one hour of work so I can relax about work tomorrow
-do a quick blitz of the house (washing sorted, hoover, beds made) so I can relax!

Yesterday cycled to shopping centre with DC. Have been bike-less for 6 months and since I had the kids I haven't been in the habit of cycling that much, I always jump in the car instead. Forgot how much I enjoyed cycling so may head out again today.

Yesterday
-egg and toast
-spinach and cheese omelette
-homemade meatballs in red wine gravy, rice, peas, sweetcorn
-mini chocolate eggs, pear, cheese, nuts, chocolate covered waffle

Today
-egg and toast
-no idea for lunch and dinner yet. Might make a big batch of bolognese.
