Following on from the January thread.

February 2024! Start to get Fit & Fabulous by adopting healthy eating habits & moving more. Join-in to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now I’m back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Follow along to get Fit & Fabulous in readiness for the long awaited Spring and a bit of sunshine ☀️

I'm ready to carry on on February, bit of a challenge with a birthday celebration coming for my child, but planning on keeping on!

Flowerchild547 · 30/01/2024 14:22

So exciting to have started the new thread!
I didn’t expect to last the whole of January so I’m so pleased that I’ve stuck it out, lost some weight and am actually looking forward to carrying on!

TheRealHousewife · 30/01/2024 14:58

Pleased to see you’ve joined the thread @WeirdPookah @Flowerchild547 👍 Well done to you both for your continued commitment, which isn’t always easy when life gets tough. See it as a gift to yourself 👏👌

I’m really wanting to solidify my lower weight this year; I’d like to reach 8st 7lbs which is a BMI OF 23.2 (currently 24.6) I’ve only about 7lbs to go but it’s proofing a tough one.

It really is a way of life for me. I won’t cut calories to unrealistic numbers and I don’t ban any foods. I am eating lower carb due to being celiac as well as needing to keep blood sugars balanced. I eat whole foods and minimise any processed foods. I include plenty of fresh salads, vegetables, fish, chicken and some red meat. Long term health is all about keeping on top of your numbers (blood pressure, blood sugars, A1c, Cholesterol), especially for those people 50+. Those numbers directly link to and contribute to disease and ill health in our later years. Controlling our weight and keeping our blood sugars balanced really is the spring board for controlling our numbers and minimising future ailments.

Thanks for the new thread OP!

January was a bit of a non starter for me... well, it started well, but then I wobbled and I don't think I'm going to finish it lower than I started 🤦‍♀️

I would love to lose my last 7lb before the end of March, ready for MIL's 60th and my birthday, and then figure out maintaining as I didn't manage it when I hit my goal weight last year. I'm not going to get there with my current focus being what it is, so I need to address that. Thankfully I now have an interview coming up for a job I'd really like, so I'm aiming to keep alcohol to an absolute minimum before then, to both keep a clear head and improve my sleep. It's a different kind of motivation, which is helpful.

So be prepared for a lot of "cup-a-soup specials" from me 🤩🤣 and frequent reminders to DRINK MORE WATER.

PatienceOfEngels · 30/01/2024 15:59

January has been as bad as I thought on the scales. WL definitely lowed down now (especially with Christmas and January birthdays) but still heading in the right direction.

Aim to carry on doing what I'm doing: as much whole foods as possible, veggie packed lunches/leftovers instead of bread, no coffee after breakfast, no booze, try to get out for a walk everyday, yoga (going to try another 30 day programme from YWA), limit snacks to fruit/veg/greek yoghurt/nuts.

Going to make an effort to journal everyday in February and drink more water.

Be back to check in on 1st February.

afaloren · 30/01/2024 16:23

Shiny new thread! Looking forward to a new month.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 30/01/2024 17:48

Thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife checking in ready for Feb!

LeftyLou · 30/01/2024 18:56

A new thread, how exciting! 😁thank you.

My last WoW is tomorrow for January. To be honest I am not holding up much hope as been out for a meal and a take away and also didn't do the long walk I said.

On the plus side have done a few shorter walks and 50 squats yesterday and today. Food wise has been okay but could try so much harder.

February sees my birthday and a trip to Whitby (not same time) .

I am going to do 100 squats every day next month and if I succeed I will be very proud of myself. Not all in one go mind you but 10 or 20 each time.

Will pop in tomorrow for my last result of January 😊

HighlandCowRose · 30/01/2024 20:20

I've managed to come down with a cold through the day. Really hoping it doesn't derail me.

B seeded toast with hummus x2, banana
(was still hungry after 1st slice)
L butternut, tomato, rocket & aubergine meze roll
B veggie burger, peashoot salad with spicy kimchi
S cherries, crisps & glass of wine

Flowerchild547 · 31/01/2024 06:43

Another weigh in checked off. So close to the stone mark now that I can smell it!
Good luck to all weighing in today

SW: 17st 10
CW: 16st 12
GW: 10st 10
Loss this week: 2lb
Total loss: 12lb

baileybrosbuildingandloan · 31/01/2024 07:01

Navigated 4 family birthdays in January with a 6lb loss. Onwards onto February!

PatienceOfEngels · 31/01/2024 07:06

Checking in for February after my last WoW:

SW 77kg (beginning October 2023)
CW 68.9kg
Interim GW 68kg
GW 63kg

Typo in my post above. Should have said "January has not been as bad as expected". On average before Christmas I was losing 2kg a month from about mid-September, and the last 4 weeks has been 1kg. Definitely slowed down (and with Christmas and 2 x birthday speed bumps on the way) but still heading in the right direction. 8.1kg since beginning October and just 1kg to go for a healthy BMI (now on 25.3).

The last time I weighed this much was 3 years ago in Jan 2021. After the first lockdown in 2020 I had a summer of looking after myself and brought my weight down, but then started an online university course and after the first term I began stress eating again and everything crept back up. I kept putting off being healthy until the next deadline which just meant I didn't loo after myself food/exercise-wise for 2 whole years. When I wrote my thesis I was beyond stressed and up to a non pregnancy high of 79kg and gave myself physical stress-related problems which took a year to resolve (and will come back if I don't take care of my mental health)

If I can get to 68kg by the end of February I'll be really pleased. Half term is in the middle but we're not going away and don't have lots of big plans so think I'll be able to stay on track.

Will get myself prepared for February this evening - set up journal and pick new yoga series.

Here's to another month of support and inspiration. 🌈✨

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 31/01/2024 07:10

Are we related @baileybrosbuildingandloan - I had a number of family birthdays to navigate in January too!

5lbs lost overall in January. I'm pretty pleased with that. If it hadn't been for the calorie counting and this thread, there would have been a lot more fizz and cake this month.

My last family birthday celebration is today, so ready to hit the ground running tomorrow. I've been a bit off the boil this last week but I'm keen to get back on it.

Good luck for everyone doing WOW today!

shearwater2 · 31/01/2024 07:13

I'm in! Started again, 2lbs off last week - onwards & downwards. Goal is 4lbs off in February.

SW: 12 st 9lbs
CW: 12st 7lbs
GW: 11st 0lbs

WeirdPookah · 31/01/2024 10:16

@baileybrosbuildingandloan well done! My daughter has her birthday soon and it's managed to extend itself into 4 events in February!

Checked in my menu on the January thread, will weigh in Friday and get my weights and goals for February.

Foxymoxy68 · 31/01/2024 10:52

I'm in too!
Lost 5lb in January (this is what I put on over Christmas 😳🙄) so......
SW: 12st 9lb
CW: 12st 4lb
GW: 10st 12lb

Calorie deficit using Nutracheck and daily exercise (running, walking and weights).

Good luck everyone!

imustbepatient · 31/01/2024 16:10

Hi everyone! I’ve put my round up for Jan on the January thread. It’s lovely to have this one now to jump onto in readiness for starting February, thanks @TheRealHousewife

February is my birthday month, so it always has that ‘new year’ feeling to it, to add onto January’s. I’m determined to keep my current motivated and positive feeling going throughout the month as well, and get my habits all baked in now, to see me through the inevitable point where I lose a bit of steam.

I have a lot on this month, social-wise, but with a bit of luck and planning, I can make my way through the various events without it derailing me. That will be good practice for summer, which is when things tend to go a tad Pete Tong…

Gingernutloses100biscuits · 31/01/2024 19:26

Hi Everyone!

Thank you WierdPookah for telling me about this thread. I need to loose allot of weight and I am looking forward to this being my year !

Starting weight - 17.13
Current Weight - 17.5

Not the best day as stress = not the best eating ! Drawing a line and will keep going forward :)

EndlessGuineaPigCycle · 31/01/2024 22:13

Thanks so much for the new thread @TheRealHousewife. The Jan thread was a huge help to me. In the past, I've only successfully lost weight through attending groups. The local one that I liked shut down a while ago so I was at a bit of a loss as to how to motivate myself this time.

I'm really pleased with my 5kg loss in January. During February, it would be great if I could lose just over 3kg to get to 73kg and comfortably into the healthy BMI range. I achieved this goal approx 18 months ago but some stressful life events led to me comfort eating and my weight crept up again. One of my main goals is to change my relationship with food so I don't mindlessly eat junk out of habit or because I am feeling a particular emotion. I also have sciatica and am in a lot of pain quite often. I am motivated by the hope that weighing less and toning up will improve matters for me there. Oh and I think I'm becoming menopausal too, so would like to try and help reduce my symptoms by eating healthily.

Things that worked for me during January were:

  • Planning each day's food in advance, a day at a time
  • Eating plenty of protein - as a veggie eggs and protein yoghurt helped me do this
  • Drinking lots of water
  • Having low carb dinners
  • Batch cooking and keeping the freezer stocked
  • Daily exercise (usually treadmill and/or core strengthening exercises)
  • Allowing myself 'treat' days, usually once a week (after WoW)
  • Logging everything - I am a Nutracheck convert!
Anyway, I hope Feb is a good month for everyone, good luck!
LumionaMoonsplash · 01/02/2024 07:06

Checking in for Feb, thanks @TheRealHousewife . I think it's the first time I finished a full month on a WL thread too, I usually fade off 2w in.

CW: 13.6
Aiming for 13.0 for next goal then I'll have lost 2st since Oct 23. Quite impressive for me considering Xmas, NY and birthdays.

LemonDrizzle23 · 01/02/2024 07:34

Checking in for Feb too! Another loss this morning which is nice.

Was well enough to get back to the gym yesterday. This morning I'm going to try a home workout with The Body Project.

@EndlessGuineaPigCycle I am also a nutracheck convert. I find it much more user friendly than my fitness pal, for not very much money.

This week I am aiming to:

  • Continue intermittent fasting
  • Complete 1km swims on Friday and Monday
  • Body project work out today and Sunday
  • walk 10,000 steps per day
ImALittlePea · 01/02/2024 07:39

Right! February! Time to refocus 😬🤞

For various reasons, we ended up having dinner out last night. It was delicious but calorific. I daren't even think 🤦‍♀️ but onwards we go.

My weigh in is tomorrow so kinda dreading that now!

Plan today:
L - CUP-A-SOUP SPECIAL!! 🤩
D - Sausage and sweet potato tray bake plus whatever greens we have
S - just tea 🤞

Unfortunately my leg is still hurting so no more dancing classes for me until that's improved 😥

Taking DD to her playgroup this morning and the snack there is always so good, so my first thing to focus on is not eating her leftovers!

Let's do this lovely losers! 💪😁

ItsTapasTime · 01/02/2024 07:54

Place marking….

Started 01.01.2024

Sharing the Action for Happiness Calendar from their Website We are all aware how our feelings/emotions/mental health are intrinsically woven into our eating habits. I know we all have times where we ‘eat our feelings’. One offs here and there are to be expected but if you’re aware that it’s a frequent habit in order to feel momentarily better please access some support. It is a form of self sabotage and you deserve better for yourself. ❤️
