Following on from the January thread.

February 2024! Start to get Fit & Fabulous by adopting healthy eating habits & moving more. Join-in to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now I’m back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Follow along to get Fit & Fabulous in readiness for the long awaited Spring and a bit of sunshine ☀️

I'm down one pound from the binge, and much more positive about moving on from this stumble in the road.

ChickenChipsandBeans · 18/02/2024 11:06

Well, the last 2 weeks have been a bit of a disaster. The 'twinge' in my knee has meant 2 weeks of no exercise. Still not completely gone, but must get back to walking tomorrow. Aswell as the knee, woke up last week with a bad neck, something I'm very prone to unfortunately, so the effort of just holding my head up for the first two days was exhausting. That's now moved down onto my shoulder blade area, so hasn't gone, but loads better. However I have now come down with the cough/cold I had managed to avoid so far this winter. Feel rubbish, tired and very sluggish. Weight up, not eating well at all. So, tomorrow I am making a new start. If I can lose anything by the end of this month it will be a positive.

@LegoTherapy I have just being catching up on the thread, and wanted to say how sorry I was to read how you felt about how you looked. Like others, your walking distances have amazed me. To tone up, lunges are so good for the legs and I would also agree with body brushing and a bit of fake tan. Definitely buy a swim suit that fits.

Yesterday 200.1 lbs
Today 199.1 lbs

Hope everyone has had a good weekend so far.

Whoop whoop, broken the 200lb barrier. Can't wait to see that on my scales!

LemonDrizzle23 · 18/02/2024 15:51

@LeftyLou and @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain
Another one here looking forward to breaking the 200lb mark 👋 My first goal is 5% of my weight which is 92.5kg or 203lbs. So they nearly coincide!

Very heavy food day yesterday - lunch out and then cooked dinner for friends from our Dishoom recipe book.

Better today and a 1km swim.
Treat day tomorrow - spa and sushi. Then half term kicks in proper....

LumionaMoonsplash · 18/02/2024 17:44

Well done @LeftyLou ! Welcome to Onederland. I was so happy to hit 199 after being over 200 for 18months.

LegoTherapy · 18/02/2024 20:24

Some amazing progress on this thread-congratulations!

Here's to the return of the school run and hopefully a good wow this Wednesday. I've got the day off on Wednesday and I'm looking forward to it. I've missed the headspace the school day gives me albeit briefly.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 19/02/2024 06:44

Back to school today and back to routine. Hasn't been a great half term. Have been struggling with anxiety and stress - found it so difficult to switch off. Even so managed to get out with DC - for walks, cycles, spent time doing lego with them, lots of reading, did a lot of tidying up in the house (it's such a mess) and we had great food this weekend (roast chicken, roast pork with excellent crackling, toffee pudding with custard). Only wish I'd managed to sleep better.

This week trying to:
-journal regularly
-start the day with a short meditation
-get outside for a walk everyday
-do yoga and relaxation exercises every evening
-up my water intake
-stick to my eating habits

I'm not holding my breath for a loss this week, or even this month, but will be very happy if I can maintain.

Getting a haircut tomorrow and my timetable has changed so I have a lovely Monday (only 6th form with some free periods when it used to be hectic and crazy).
Our front garden looks lovely at the moment. In between the unweeded beds/drive we have daffodils, crocus, budding hyacinth, pussy willow, and vivid pink heather out at the moment (the snowdrops have come and gone).
Lots to be thankful and grateful for.

Have a good week everyone.

ThreeRingCircus · 19/02/2024 07:31

I've been absent from the thread as to be honest, eating healthily has gone out the window the past week. I would say due to half term, being out of routine and having social events on but I know really it's my choice to have binged and I feel worse for it anyway so I'm frustrated with myself.

Back on it today and back into a more normal routine so I'm viewing it as a holiday blip and want to get back on track. I'm avoiding the scales until later in the week as it's my time of the month anyway so I'll see if I can undo the damage and get back to where I was before half term.

Today's dinner is the Pinch of Nom recipe for chicken in black bean sauce. It's got lots of crunchy vegetables in it and I know I enjoy it and it's reasonably low calorie. I think I'll have it with extra veg and skip the rice this time just as I'm being super strict with myself at the moment.

LegoTherapy · 19/02/2024 09:12

Slight drop this morning. Back on the school run and enjoying the peace on the way back. 10 days of February left to shift some poundage. We can do t!

ImALittlePea · 19/02/2024 09:14

Morning all. I too disappeared in a cloud of bad eating over the weekend. As per, I guess 🙄

The chicken pie I made on Friday night was absolutely incredible though! Worth every calorie!

Saturday lunch was a disaster - just one that went wrong, not pleasant to eat at all. Saturday night was chippy tea at my mum's.

Yesterday was nearly awful - we almost went for lunch out, and discussion was also had about takeaway. So that would have been a full roast, with takeaway pizza later! But we did neither, lunch was a tiger bread sandwich (mine was cheddar, lots of salad and sweet chilli houmous) and some crisps and dip. Dinner was still pizza, but half a shop one with homemade chips and a couple of onion rings. I had half a bottle of fizz leftover from Saturday night in the fridge, but decided to pour it away yesterday morning as I know I'd have had it otherwise. So not amazing by any stretch, but better than it could have been?! I still feel so sluggish and heavy this morning though.

I normally do a class Monday morning but it's cancelled this week, actually quite grateful for the slightly slower start to the week this week. Double shift at work today so plenty of steps to come still!

Meals for today:
Lunch - probably a wrap with some veggie 'superfood' style bites, houmous and salad
Dinner - sweet potato chips (homemade), fake chicken breast, lots of veg

Intentions for the week:
Need to NOT snack on the chefs pass this week
No alcohol
No crisps
No bread
Extra veg or salad with every meal
Lots of water
Out Friday night for dinner with some newish mum friends, was going to catch the train but now think I'll drive and have one small wine

Aiming for 2lb off this week 🤞

CumbrianExile · 19/02/2024 12:29

Checking in after my Mon Weigh In.

SW 15st 8lb
CW 15st 7.4lb

So not great, but I am still below my starting weight ha. Its going to be diffcult as its half term here this week and routine is out of the window. We also have days out planned which involve eating out. I decided not to put too much pressure on my self this week, but I want to get back on some kind of track, so my aims this week are:
Up my water intake again! (this has gone seriously south in the last few weeks)
More Fruit/Veg with each meal.
Increase my steps.

I am going to not worry so much about calorie intake due to eating out, but aim to make better choices with my meals. Lets see how I get on!

WeirdPookah · 19/02/2024 13:08

Been for a walk this morning (though was to buy something to eat with my girls when my husband is away that they wanted!) but wasn't feeling it. Feeling sluggish with hormonal headache/cramps. But still went.

Just cooked a chicken to portion out for my cat. She's nearly 21 now, and just not eating. So hoping she'll eat that! She was squeaking at the door and she was so excited at the smell, so she's had some lunch as a treat and eaten it.
Got her some fancy food to try too.

B: Kidney bean burrito
L: eggs, peppers, tomatoes
D: mango almond korma with chicken, cauliflower

maybein2022 · 19/02/2024 15:41

Hi all,
Not the result I wanted this morning at weigh in, +2lb. Fully expected though, was on track all week, had one meal out Friday night that wasn’t in the plan, good day Saturday and then Sunday was just a disaster, went out for the way and ate way too much. However. Trying to look at the positives: I didn’t binge eat, (ie go and buy loads of rubbish for the sake of it!) didn’t drink Diet Coke, didn’t eat UPF. Just too much.

Another positive: still 16lb off in 7 weeks even with that gain.

Refocus time!

Hope everyone is doing ok.

LegoTherapy · 19/02/2024 20:37

Some days/weekends/months are like that. Dust yourself off and deep breath then get back to it. Don't beat yourself up. My weekend wasn't stellar either but today is a new day and you can do it! Even small positive steps are steps towards your goal. Sometimes we get a little lost on our journey, or double back, or end up where we started but as long as we're getting there, however slowly, with however many set backs or scones for dinner (😬) we will get there.

11 miles walked today and I'm tired. AF due so that might be why. Hoping for a loss this Wednesday. Must remember more water as today hasn't been great on that front. I was going to use my weights today but maybe a ball bounce might be better whilst I watch the golden girls. Comfort viewing at its best.

afaloren · 19/02/2024 21:03

Hi everyone, my weekend was wildly off plan but been back on it today.

B - Protein yoghurt, banana
L - Lentil and bacon soup, clementines
D - Fishcake, peas, chocolate protein pot
S - Ice cream
E - 2 dog walks and will do yoga before bed as it’s a ‘blanket yoga’ on the calendar today. I was meant to go to the gym but ended up getting an in-person GP appointment which I was certainly not going to miss!

LegoTherapy · 19/02/2024 21:06

@afaloren must be something in the air with so many going wonky over the last few days. Tell me more about blanket yoga - is that a euphemism?!

afaloren · 19/02/2024 21:10

From the video thumbnail @LegoTherapy it looks like lots of lying down under a blanket so not a euphemism! Hardly worth setting my fitness watch for but every little helps Wink

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/02/2024 21:17

🙋🏻‍♀️ another for the off plan club. Maybe it's a post January thing, after working so hard then @LegoTherapy ??

I was back on the healthy eating today, but no exercise because I'm exhausted, possibly have a period brewing (hard to tell with menopause).

Menu

B - porridge with banana, pomegranate seeds and flax seeds and a drizzle of honey
L - tomato and lentil soup, pear, cooked chicken, handful of grapes
D - green lentils with pork, carrots and green beans

Snack - nothing yet!

Hoping to get back on the exercise tomorrow!

LemonDrizzle23 · 19/02/2024 21:40

Super off plan few days here too!

Friday - lunch out
Saturday - lunch out, (homemade) curry dinner with all the trimmings
Sunday - butterkist popcorn appeared during a film
Today - sushi lunch and burger dinner.

Back on plan tomorrow 😬 but not high hopes for WOW....

maybein2022 · 19/02/2024 22:25

Thank you all and solidarity to those who’ve also had a rough/off plan few days/weekend- I think 7 weeks into the year is where motivation starts to slow, losses tend to slow and the initial enthusiasm is waning, but for me I know I HAVE to do it so am determined to keep going.

@LegoTherapy that’s some impressive walking!

Back on it today, food was:

Organic baked beans on sourdough toast and a sprinkling of cheddar cheese.
Frozen pineapple.
Salad of: roasted spiced butternut squash and cauliflower, salad leaves, tomatoes, cucumber, pomegranate seeds, salmon fillet, feta cheese and a homemade basil dressing.
Strawberries and raspberries with almond butter and 3 dark chocolate buttons.
A couple of coffees with milk and a bit of coconut sugar.
Plenty of water.

LegoTherapy · 20/02/2024 07:15

Morning all. Another small loss this morning so I'm hoping tomorrow is a good wow. Yesterday I bounced on my ball for around 2 miles. For those who are newer to the threads and don't know about bouncing on gym balls, each bounce counts as a step so it's easy to increase your step count while watching tv. It's great for your core and thighs too and if you are prone to snacking while watching tv it makes that impossible. I live my ball and bounced my way through the last series of Happy Valley. I've got out of the habit of doing it but am back on it and loving it. Maybe my thighs won't wobble so much after a few weeks of bouncing.

Plan for the day is lots of walking which is unavoidable due to the school run and going to my mum's today. Some bouncing tonight for an hour and will maybe do some weights. More water than yesterday definitely. Waitrose delivery today with lots of nice food so something nice for dinner although I might do that tomorrow as I wait for the best means on weigh day 😁 Wish me luck in trying the dc with different food 😩 The usual porridge fir breakfast and yogurt with berries and honey for lunch.

Have a great day y'all!

Good Morning All

Welcome to the thread @upanddowns I’m a very slow loser but I’m the exception rather than the norm. There are many variables which affect people differently such as age, starting weight, muscle to fat ratio, illness, meds, disability, hormones etc. The best piece of advice I’d give you is to not diet. Yes really. The secret to reaching your ideal weight is finding a way of eating that is sustainable and enjoyable whilst creating a calorie deficit. Once at your goal, then work at maintainance. Written down it sounds easy but people find it tough. That is where getting in the right head space is important! Don’t eat (or drink) your feelings ❤️

Solidarity to everyone in the same off plan boat!

I posted an update last night but it disappeared 😭

Was a little bit over my calories yesterday but not by loads. Motivational win for me was at work, chef cooked too many chips and set a bowl aside for me, but I said a firm 'no' and didn't touch them. I did however have a small biscuit that was meant for a customer but had broken, and I had a couple of quality street chocs after dinner. Evening shift was cancelled so I got into my PJ's at 6pm with a glass of fizzy water.

Rechecked my tdee and it's giving maintenance calories of 1850ish, and allowance if c.1350 to lose 1lb/week.

Plan for today:
Lunch - either 1/2 tub tomato and lentil soup, or fake chicken salad. Can't decide what I fancy at the moment 😬 just want to make sure I don't snack again....
Dinner - tortilla pizza, homemade wedges, big salad

Feeling more motivated this morning, despite DD keeping us up overnight and having major separation anxiety going to nursery this morning. Not going to let this tiredness and emotional draining translate onto my plate!
