We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible…......... 🌟 1205.75lbs 🌟 since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing!

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

FATEdestiny I definitely wouldn’t be able to beat my weight loss every thread I’m expecting it to slow down in about a 20 pounds time if not sooner.

Plus wouldn’t that be dependent on where people are on their journey? For example I was losing double figures per month at the heavy end and since hitting 16st I average 8 to 6 pounds a month.

strawberrypig · 02/09/2018 19:54

I like that idea Fate, best of both worlds. I didn't mean to upset you Tractor, that was exactly the opposite of what I was trying to do. The whole point of the thread is to support each other, I feel bad for causing upset. Sorry Thanks

Fezzes, that dress is perfect! Right colours and good shape. Grin

FATEdestiny · 02/09/2018 20:06

fezzesarecool, I meant we (as a group) beat the thread total. Not an individual. New members joining at the beginning of the 100lb loss journey would balance those at the slower, tail end. It keeps the thread group evolving.

fezzesarecool · 02/09/2018 20:09

FATEdestiny Ok, sorry I get it now! It’s been a long day

FATEdestiny · 02/09/2018 20:57

Say we lost 500lb as a group in the last thread, then we could all have a virtual party if the following thread got to 500lb total.

I also feel strongly that individual weight gains should not change the thread total. As well as it (understandably) making an individual feel shit, it also detracts from the celebration of every pound of fat lost.

If I lost 3lb one week, gained 2lb the next week and put 3lb on the next week - the middle week does not change the fact that I'd have had two weeks of 3lb loss - which are awesome weekly achievements in themselves. While my personal record of weight change would note the weight change as only 4lb over 3 weeks (not 6lb), our thread total is only a record of celebrating our losses. And in this example I would have had 2 × 3lb losses to add to the total and celebrate.

The thread total would be how much weight we have lost in total as a group. Subtracting gains can only be demotivating. So I would only celebrate weight loss and only if the individual person chooses to include their loss in the total, by updating the total. It's fine if someone doesn't want to one week. Or at all.

honeysucklejasmine · 02/09/2018 21:04

Wowee. Lots of opinions. Let's go back to what Tractors used to do (I don't mind doing it - something to do a 3am whilst DS chews on my boob!)

But I really love the thread total too! So, each thread I'll calculate how much was lost on that thread, and update the total loss too.

Now. Serious business. Marmalade I am gutted. I bought some nice fancy Tiptree Essex marmalade. But it's sooooo chunky. Normally I would love chunky peel marmalade. But when you're weighing out 15g, two chunks of peel and that's it! I had some Golden Shred Shredless before which was good for spreading. Any other recommendations?

Something great happened. I had to measure my sons height for a form that needed filling in tonight. As a result we measured the height of all if us. Turns out I am 2cm taller than I thought I was!!

So whereas I've always thought I needed to be under 10st 2 to be a healthy BMI (at 160cm tall), in fact I get to BMI 25 at 10st 5 (at 162cm tall) - a whole 3 pounds less to go!

I feel a bit stupid for never actually measuring my height, just assuming I knew it Blush

honeysucklejasmine · 02/09/2018 23:04

Ha ha ha Fate! You make an excellent point. I think I am 5'6" but I haven't checked since I was a teenager! Meant to say before, I am a Brownie Guider too. Currently not active due to small ones, but I was even DC for a few years. Not doing that again, thanks! 😂

Great news Fate I love it when things like that happen Smile

Sadly the midwives have measured my height and its bang on what I thought!!

A NSV for me though, I bought a size 22 maternity jeans which practically fell off me so have ordered the 20. I realise this may be because they come up a bit large but still celebrating a little.

fezzesarecool · 03/09/2018 09:08

Anyone else looking forward to the winter now, putting on heavy jackets and jumpers and then doing a ‘reveal’ come springtime? 😄

honeysucklejasmine · 03/09/2018 09:14

Ha ha Fezzes yes! I'm looking forward to getting some nice knitwear this year.

I need to do another wardrobe clear out. FIL took a picture of me the other day and it's not flattering. But I think it's because I was wearing a size 18 top when I'm a 14.

fezzes that's what I'm hoping for! Your dress on the last page was lovely but agree with PP, too big!
Did the 30 day shed for the first time in ages. Randomly I find level 2 better to start than level one, seems less of a shock to the joints. Now trying to get off the sofa (ouch).
Also looking at compact crosstrainers.
Overall annoyed with my utter lack of fitness, there was a time I cycled 12 miles each way to work. No chance of that now.
Oh well KOKO. The losses on this thread are truly inspirational!

fezzesarecool · 03/09/2018 10:00

Numberofthemouse Fantastic on the Shred! We can encourage each other if you like?

I’ve managed 7 day’s L1 so far even though the plan was just to do it a few times a week but I’d now like to see how far I can go in the actual 30 day’s.

fezzesarecool · 03/09/2018 10:01

Also I don’t know if it helped s but I’ve added in a extra warm up and cool down from my other DVDs as I don’t think the Shred does it for long enough and I think that’s really helped with doms.

sourpatchkid · 03/09/2018 11:02

Just a quick check in with my current weight - 238 pounds

moocowmrs · 03/09/2018 13:22

Just a quick queries regarding mfp.

Today I made chicken and veg soup ( home made stock and everything ) ! Anyway how do you work out the cal count for mfp, I just used a mid range bought one but wondered what others did ?

fezzesarecool · 03/09/2018 14:01

moocowmrs If it’s going to be a regular homemade one I would save it as a meal and list every ingredient Sounds yummy 😋

honeysucklejasmine · 03/09/2018 18:07

moo always list it as a meal or recipe. Plug in each ingredient and be honest about how much you have.

Recipe: easily program in servings and it tells you calories per serving too. You can enter ingredients directly from a website such a BBC good food if you're using one. Appears as one item in your food diary.

Meal: you can either plug in all the ingredients and then say you had 0.25 of a serving (for example) or just put in what you'll eat. You can share the meal with friends on mfp, but it shows each ingredient separately on your diary. I find this helpful because if you vary anything as you cook, you can just ammend the amount of that ingredient in your diary rather than having to delete it, edit the recipe and then add it again.

fezzes 7 days in a row is brilliant, we can definitely cheer each other on!
(I'm dreading the DOMs tomorrow!!)

fezzesarecool · 03/09/2018 19:57

Numberofthemouse Not sure how long I’m going to last for! Oh is going on a Stag weekend so Sunday I’ll struggle when to do it as I’m at work and my mum will come and get the kids. I could just get up early but my baby will be up at 6am

Feeling a few slight aches in my legs tonight, you’re doing so well going straight back into the level 2.

Numberofthemouse · 03/09/2018 20:29

I'm cheating fezzes I really do find it easier than level 1!
Could you do it when kids in bed on Sunday?
I'm on study leave until a week on tues so have a good run at it until then. Then we'll see on exam day!

fattyboomboomboom · 03/09/2018 21:03
