We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible…......... 🌟 1205.75lbs 🌟 since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing!

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Hi teapot and fancy, welcome. It's a scary realisation to have, but we're all here facing up to it.

Think I'll start a new thread today, this one is almost full. Will post a link here.

Think I'm set for a maintain this week. Not sure why but I'm ok with it, I had a huge loss (for me) last week so it's probably evening out.

Hello all - just wondering if I can slip quietly in here ... shuffle in at the back and keep my head down ... and join in Smile

I've been avoiding mirrors and cameras for way too long now! I'm facing up to needing to lose half my body weight.

I feel like everything in my life needs an overhaul at the moment - I'm 51 with 4 kids aged from 8 to 28 and 3 grandchildren - if I avoid mirrors I feel 21 but when I look in the mirror I look 61!! Enough is enough!!

So I started last week - following the blood sugar diet, trying to increase my water intake and generally trying to move more - 1.5 lbs off in my first week - so that has to be good. I'm using my fitness pal to log my daily calories etc.

Onwards and upwards!!

NSV lifted a 15kg/33lb power bag at Boot Camp tonight!

It was great to feel the weight of that especially motivating as that’s a little under what I have left to lose

So when I’m having a slow week I’m going to try and remember actually what the weight feels like that I’m trying to shift and a pound off will add up

Hang in there Teapot Christmas can be difficult. Fezzes agree. I don’t think it will ever be easy for any of us. However my very thin friend (lost several stone about 30 years ago) was moaning her family were saying it’s alright for her, she’s thin. But they totally missed the pointm she works really hard to stay that way, same effort really as I put in to lose weight, she’s my exercise buddy.

PostNotInHaste It’s a good thing we’ve got each over and the support doesn’t just end when the weight is off

Tbh I remember when the weight was going on and just ignoring and I really don’t want to do that again

We all all going to have our dips and put weight, more weight then we would like on again but I think we’re all determined enough to get ourselves back in check again and it really helps me for the future to hear about everyone’s struggles

And you know the scary thing ? My friend was determined that I wouldn’t put it back on and has been keeping close eye on me and didn’t notice my extra flab. It’s insidious and creeps on. I blame my boobs (and stomach and legs a touch). My jeans do now feel tight though.

I think Fezzes do the opposite of what I did Grin. Am a touch pissed off with myself as was bloody silly but things have been like an episode of Eastenders round here and attending to food was just one more thing. So now I have a stone to shift again.

HoneysuckIejasmine Thanks, sorry to let the side down though! I’m trying out a new schedule of exercise hardcore then a whole week off at half term but still eating at a defect and actually now I’ve up my calories just to see what the loss is like on that as I do struggle with 1200

Post any tricks for maintaining, you just have to try and see what works for you I like the idea of being accountable still for maintenance and have a idea of what my check weight will be eg 6 max after a holiday or whatever then time to tighten the reins again

Just popping in to say hi and welcome to new people, Things been incredibly stressful here for a few months and it has reflected in the scales. In an attempt to motivate myself and be accountable knowing things are going to be pretty tough this year I’ve done what I said I wouldn’t do and joined WW.

Not going to follow it but think I need to go somewhere for a bit and am thinking i could go for a weigh in every few months when back at goal as I suck at maintaining. It was like something off a comedy show and I was the youngest by 20 years, however it’s now closed so will be going to an evening one which I hope will be a bit different. The Coach person or whatever they are these days is nice and kept her 4.5 stone off for 10 years. Did say how much i’ve Lost and she’s trying to recruit me I feel !

Waiting to see Consultant re hysterectomy so want to get as much off and be as fit as possible for that, quite motivating.

HoneysuckIejasmine Actually I had a bit of a count up the other day but have definitely failed it! Sorry to let you down but I’ve only done around 25! Nowhere near the target.

However it’s kind of done what it’s supposed to as in got me back into exercise and I’ve burning a minimum of 500 cals Monday to Friday and then a extra 400 over the weekend through cardio and strength exercises. I do low impact cardio on my rest days which is when I’ve been doing the walks.

So new deal you finish the walking challenge and I’ll keep up the exercise burn till the end of the month?

Well done Cult! That's great!. Well done for dealing with your disappointment appropriately. I had a similar moment looking back at my wedding photos. Eugh. Will take some more on our anniversary in April (5 years) to celebrate how different we both look now. (DH still skinny, but more trendy)

Fezzes I am 2.4km away from our "80 miles in January" challenge. How are you getting on?

Had a surprise party for a relative yesterday, when I saw the pics I realised how awful I actually look so did spend the evening feeling a bit sorry for myself.
However, very pleased to report I didn’t then binge on chocolates and cake!

It’s Weekly Weigh in Wednesday, I was sooo happy to see a loss this week. 3 whole pounds! Gone forever 😊😊

Start - 287

I’ve stepped everything up a gear in the past few days - I’m done with slow and steady! I’ve started the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred and I’ve also started the blood sugar diet - though I’m vegan so I’m having to do a slightly modified version. It’s clicked with me that I’ve got a lot of weight to lose and I need to get serious

Good morning , just checking in to see that everyone is doing so well, it's brilliant and very encouraging. I have had a pretty good week so far, I did get persuaded to have a chinese takeaway on the weekend but I think I made a good choice with beef and tomatoes and boiled rice. It was a bit bland and boring but I want to really focus on losing weight plus I didn't want to trigger my desires for fatty, greasy food.

I will weigh myself later just to see what is happening and to make sure my fluid retention isn't going up with my heart failure. My fat feels more flabby now too instead of rock solid so I guess that is a good sign.

moonlight I really hope the funeral goes ok today and you get lots of support from your family. Good luck with your pregnancy too. I was induced at 38 weeks with 2 of mine and it was a bloody nightmare with both babies taking days to get into established labour. Stick to your guns Smile.

anotherotter I loved the quote you mentioned, it is so true. I have been at war with my body for years and years and now I am calling a truce and giving it a bit of love it is paying dividends. Well done on your parkrun too, I think it is an amazing NSV and shows what can be achieved with effort and dedication. I also want to say thank you for the calorie/nutrition info. It is someething I have been thinking about as I generally eat between 1200 and 1800 calories a day with at least 6 portions of fruit and veg. I am always borderline for anemia whenever I have a blood test so I will be looking to increase my iron rich food.

Well my computer is in its terminal phase so its taken me ages to write this out. I am very lucky in that my husband is going to build me a new one on the weekend so if I don't post before then, good luck for the coming week.

Hello broken! Excellent excel work, love the colour gradient trend line. 🤓 Great weight loss start too! You may find 2lbs a week a tall order after a while, so don't get disheartened if it takes longer than a year. In January 2020, your body is going to be significantly smaller than it is now!

Hi here, well done for coming out of the shadows! I also think a strength of this thread is that the big losers stick around, and that everyone is very ordinary. Ordinary people showing it can be done without a legion of support staff and a 5hr a day gym habit.

I went out today for a nice walk. Did 9km in the end. Would have been further but the kids protested. Oh well, next time!

Another newcomer Blush

Hi everyone. I have loved lurking on this thread and decided to come out of the shadows.. It's not like I can hide well anyway 😁

I weigh around 260 pounds and need to lose about half my body weight. I saw a photo of me the other day and was horrified. I definitely have reverse body dysmorphia.

At the moment I'm just getting back to a sensible food plan which is working well. I capture it all on mfp. I can lose weight comfortably on 1700 cals.

Its really refreshing to read the progress of people with lots of weight loss. Normally people leave by this stage so thank you!

Hello all - just checking in with you to see how it is going. Well done on so many fab losses and getting back to it after Christmas.

Broken loving your excel chart - may have to do one similar soon.

Another stupidly I don't think I realised how difficult it is to get all your nutrients in less calories - that is an interesting thought.

Honey wow, you are really rocking it at the moment and seem to be taking control.

fezze brill result, you are doing so well and it will feel so good when you can write 12st something Smile

I'm ok at the moment, with my family this weekend so haven't even bothered to weigh myself. I'm not looking forward to the funeral but in a way it signals and end to this rubbish few weeks and hopefully get me excited about the next.

I went to have my 38 week scan and baby is off the charts in terms of growth so they are trying to suggest induction. I am a little wary as there seems to be no good reason why I should be induced this early so am waiting until at least the 40 week mark before I panic. I wonder how much weight I will lose after giving birth Grin

Can I join as a new starter? So many of you on this thread have such huge losses and I am in awe of your success. I want some of that!

I have 96lbs to lose to be at the very top end of a healthy BMI. I have no idea what my end target weight will be once I get there as that in itself is a mammoth task!! Another target is to get off the high blood pressure meds I was started on a couple of months ago.

I started on 1st January and have lost 7lb so far (weighing on a Tuesday at the moment). Staying simple with MFP too help me with portion control and cutting a way out of control snacking habit. I need to lose a couple of stone before even thinking about some exercise.

I haven't joined any clubs like WW or SW yet but not totally against the idea later. Keeping track of lbs lost with my fabulous excel chart which plots 1 year to get to the start of a healthy BMI (I have rejigged and improved so many times to take my mind off snacking!!!) but only with a consistent 2lb a week loss which I'm not even sure is realistic!

Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... Part 6!
