I'm up 1.6lbs on last week so still a pound under target and 106lbs lost in total. I don't know why my weight is up this week as been sticking to 2.2-2.3k calories and did over 30k steps three times and over 20k steps the other days as lots of running and walking. Bollocks to it, will see what happens over the next few weeks, the main news is that I had a fantastic parkrun and did really well following a pacer (runner in a hi vis vest who does the course in a set time). I am astounded that my body could run that fast and keep up with all these people who looked like proper runners. I have hated and despised my body for a lot of my life and turns out that with two years of actual proper care, it can do wonders. I read a Canadian-American dietitian called Michelle Allison's blog and this feeling reminds me of this quote from her: "Your body is not an object, not a sculpture based on some universal and enduring Platonic ideal of beauty - it is a living creature, an animal in your care that needs care and compassion, that suffers and dies if neglected." I only managed to stick to a long term diet once I had called a truce with my body and stopped actively hating it. Took a lot of work. I see a lot of posters hating on their bodies in this subforum and they seem, like me, to get nowhere. Life really is too short for that.
How are you, moonlight? Wishing you all the best for the funeral tomorrow
Hope it all goes smoothly and you can take a little comfort from saying goodbye, as heartbreakingly sad as it will be. Take care and keep in close contact with your midwife. Remember you can post whatever you like here maybe not Brexit and we will support you any way we can.
Well done on getting past the halfway mark, slithy. Really starting to get real now!
Welcome Candle and hiphop.
How was your spa day, Cult? Fuck any prick that tries to give you attitude for being in a swimsuit in an imperfect body. None of their goddamn business and just plain rude!
Brilliant conversation between sneeze and Quandary about dealing with difficult situations and emotions without using food. An essential skill to learn. We've talked about coping strategies before, can't remember which thread, so might be worth a read back if you have time.
Absolutely phenomenal weight loss, sneeze, you are doing so well!
Well done on your loss, FATE, and very impressed with your long runs too.
Welcome theredcar. It's tempting to eat as little as possible to lose the weight as fast as possible but it can be counterproductive for two reasons. Firstly, it's hard to get all your nutrients in less than 1400 calories without a hell of a lot of effort (as told to me by an NHS dietitian). For example, a woman of child bearing age needs 15mg iron and 30g of fibre (plus lots of other things). To meet both of those targets you need to eat quite a variety of different food. Secondly, many people find too severe a calorie restriction triggers binging which is obviously counterproductive. Biggest cause of bulimia and binge eating disorder is crash dieting. Dieting is not always a risk free, benign activity.
Welcome how.
Well done honey, Quandary and Jes on your losses. Doing great!
Good thing Mumsnet doesn't charge by the word
Take care all and KOKO
