Hello, welcome to the sixth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here:

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible…......... 🌟 1205.75lbs 🌟 since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing!

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Thank you. I've done it before, so I know I can again. I've always got a written resolution to get down to 14 odd stone before year end so if I don't do that then I will have tarnished my perfect 2018 diary, haha. I've just realised that my enormous dogs have a combined weight of roughly 100lbs and asked dh if he'd like to start carrying them 24/7 to which I think I now have a bit of empathy regarding how much the extra weight actually affects me in everyday life!

RSTera · 01/09/2018 08:07

I weighed in today and have lost 3lb. I haven't done a full week yet, but weighed in today because I want to do Saturdays, so it's not too bad.

I haven't felt deprived or too hungry doing what I've chosen to do, so looks like it's worth sticking with for now as a strategy.

Adding my 3lb:

1215.75lbs

MagicKeysToAsda · 01/09/2018 08:14

2lbs off when weighed yesterday before coming away. Will need to do quite a bit of beach walking to counter a takeaway last night (was lovely) but we'll be cooking the rest of the weekend. Happy September everyone!

new thread total 1214.75 I think.

MagicKeysToAsda · 01/09/2018 08:15

cross posted!

thread total therefore 1217.75

honeysucklejasmine · 01/09/2018 08:38

Congratulations everyone, and welcome new losers!

Getoff when I was using slimming world I used a "diet diary" book I got off Amazon. This one - www.amazon.co.uk/Slimming-Activity-Tracker-Compatible-Planner/dp/B01BDVXTW0/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ref=plSrch&keywords=diet+diary&dpPl=1&dpID=51K0K48gB9L&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1535787352&sr=8-5 I labelled the columns free, hex a, hex b, syns. Worked well - page a day it lasts 3 months.

Well today’s the day ! Have weighed myself at 229 Lb and had a nice breakfast, my fitness pal all set up.

Getoffthetableplease · 01/09/2018 11:54

Eek good luck moocow (and any other newbies), today's the day we're gonna look back on as the start of great things. Thank you for the welcomes, and the recommendation honey. I've also downloaded the Slimit app for quick tracking.

I weighed this morning at 241.3lbs, had a lovely fruity breakfast, an active morning at work and now I'm in the garden with my black coffee reading about finding joy in the little things. Feeling very positive Smile

Start 278

Last week 196
Week 27 Exercise Week 23 Calorie counting
This week -192

Week loss -4
Total loss -85

Goal 136lb
Left to lose 61lb
Start to lose 142lb

Thread total 1221.75 (sorry saw two people had done a weigh in but I didn’t know what pounds loss it was so haven’t added those on)

Yay! So not weighed in 3 weeks, (2 weeks holiday and been back a week now) so very happy with -4 that would have been a loss over the 3 weeks.

Firmly in the 13st bracket now, 15 pounds off the overweight BMI and to my 100lbs off. Happy dance!

honeysucklejasmine · 01/09/2018 12:14

Well done Fezzes! (Those were start weights, not losses, so you've done it right with the total). You are so on it! Inspirational!

Good luck to those starting today - onwards and downwards!

I did a preview weigh in today which puts me at STS from last week, so I might manage to eek out a loss by tomorrow morning. 😂

Have been altering some clothes this morning and will do more of the same this evening - I've got some literally more than a decade old jeans I now fit in... But fashion has changed such that the "bootleg" cut is now basically a flare. 😁 So I'm going to cut them off and turn to long denim shorts for these intermittent sunny days we're having. They won't fit by winter anyway, I hope, so may as well use them now!

honeysucklejasmine Thank you and fair warning that the wedding is getting nearer and I’m starting to panic. Had a look round the shops yesterday and going again to a big shopping centre today.

No bloody idea about what will suit or fit 😫😫😫 Normally I would have bought something months ago and now this is the latest I dare leave it.

moonlight1705 · 01/09/2018 12:30

Well yet again I STS but really am quite pleased with that.

Total loss: 18.5lb

I'm well into the second trimester now and starting to get a rounded tummy so I guess its inevitable that I stabilise a bit.

Group total still 1221.75lb

sourpatchkid · 01/09/2018 17:57

Hi everyone
Can I join even if I'm not sure I'm ready for it yet?

I have 112 pounds to loose to be middle of BMI range but I know I won't get to that, I'd be happy to loose 56 but feel more comfortable here if that's ok?

honeysucklejasmine · 01/09/2018 18:40

Welcome sour! I reckon it's be a good idea to focus on one pound at a time, rather than the end goal. This time next week, you could have lost a pound. Of course, you could have lost more too. Exciting!

Fezzes what sort of thing are you thinking of buying?

OP posts:
fezzesarecool · 01/09/2018 20:35

honeysucklejasmine I don’t know! 😫😫😫 I’ve no idea how to dress for my size

sourpatchkid · 01/09/2018 20:37

Thank you for the welcome, I'm not ready to start weighing myself yet. I haven't even thought of a diet plan

Can anyone suggest good snacks except for fruit. I'm not ready to be without snacks (still breastfeeding a toddler)

honeysucklejasmine · 01/09/2018 20:57

Fezzes I know I talk about it a lot but honestly I love Lindy Bop. The only shape they don't really do is straight up and down. Otherwise there's something there for you. Their models are a variety of sizes and colours too. Good bargains in sale right now www.lindybop.co.uk/sale.html

sourpatch it's worth making sure you know your start weight. I reckon your approach needs to tackle what your problem is. I'm a binge eater, generally boredom but also emotional. I found slimming world worked, but it didn't tackle my issues with portion size and constant eating. So every time I stopped, I'd gain it all back again. For me, my fitness pal calorie counting has been much better. It tailors your calorie allowance to your size and activity levels, lets you build in extra allowances based on your activity etc. Maybe download, set your goal for 1/2lb a week (the smallest loss available) and see how you find it? If it's easy, you can continue and change your goal, and if it's not for you, you can look for other options.

This is me currently, stomach is where I carry most of the weight now so I think getting a nice fitting dress now is not the best idea Would a nice wrap blouse with skinny trousers be ok?

I’ll have a look at Lindy Bop thanks

fezzesarecool · 01/09/2018 21:37

sourpatchkid I second what honey said and my fitness pal really helps to make this a way of eating rather than a diet

fezzesarecool · 01/09/2018 21:40

I like this in Lindy Bop

I love the grey one fezze, it looks fitted without being too clingy.

sourpatchkid · 01/09/2018 23:03

You know honeysuckle, that's the first time I've thought of a diet plan in such a simple way! Think about why I over eat and work on that, so simple but I've never done it!

I've always eaten too much, I just love food and if no impulse control. Now it's worse because I'm running round after the toddler and it's quicker to eat several chocolate bars than make something healthy

Hmm, I'll continue thinking

@fezzesarecool - who's wedding is it? Can I help look for an outfit, I love online shopping!

fezzesarecool · 01/09/2018 23:17

sourpatchkid Go for it thanks! I’m currently tearing my hair out!

It’s actually a special wedding, the last single one of my friendship group that I’ve known for almost 20 years has finally met the one for him. Also my husband is best friends with him too, we’re basically a family more than friends.

It’s also probably the last wedding we can imagine that’ll we’ll go to for a good few years now too.

Basically I think straight on I’m looking good so I’ll like to showcase that, stomach and butt is definitely where my 4st left is all carried.

One of my other problems with the outfit is the traditional wedding guest outfit colours aren’t me. I love bright pinks, purples etc. and some kind of sparkle. But don’t feel I can get away with those colours during the day.

😫 Soooo all help appreciated!

sourpatchkid · 01/09/2018 23:29

Ooh I think bright colours would look amazing on you, would it be frowned on by the wedding party because if not I wouldn't rule it out.

Sorry if you've already said but what Dress size are you now? (And well done on your weight loss!)
