Hello, welcome to the sixth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread smile

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible…......... 🌟 1205.75lbs 🌟 since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing!

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Well done Fate

Quandary2018 · 12/01/2019 08:01

Hi everyone- welcome all newbies!

Honeysuckle I didn’t know that about MFP so thanks for pointing it out, I’ve adjusted my calories

How are you doing moonlight? Hope you’re as ok as you can be Flowers

This weeks been a weird one, ridiculously busy at work and the kids have been bickering like I don’t know what everyday and I’m knackered so the temptation to comfort eat has been there constantly. Doesn’t help we still have loads of Christmas chocolate left at work
However, I’ve resisted, I even stepped away from the ready meal aisle last night and cooked myself a proper dinner- despite being beyond tired and not bothered! In the past I’d have grabbed 2 curry and rice meals and eaten them both

I am delighted to have lost 5 pounds this week so that’s the Christmas gain plus a bit more gone

Starting weight: 260.8lbs
Current weight: 236.4lbs
Total loss: 24.4lbs
To go: 85.4lbs

fezzesarecool · 12/01/2019 09:00

Think I had a initial whoosh where I took a break from it all so enjoying that and expecting a pound a week now hopefully

HoneysuckIejasmine · 12/01/2019 18:50

Evening! Some excellent losses recorded here today - well done everyone, what a great way to start the year!

Loss this week: 2lbs
Lost to date: 86.75lbs
To lose: 26lbs

I'm really excited to get to 90lbs in a few weeks time. Grin

sneezeandclench · 12/01/2019 20:29

Hi there, well done everyone on the great losses, I am very impressed. Today has been an ok sort of day. I had scrambled egg and tomatoes on toast for breakfast and a chicken stir fry for dinner but ate it really early at 4.30pm so by 7.30 I succumbed to the call of the toaster and had 3 slices of wholemeal with marmite and peanut butter. (It was supposed to be 4 but it was really dry as I scraped the butter on and I have 2 dogs with hopeful expressions) I have stayed well within my calorie limits so I am ok with it, just could have made a better choice I think.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 12/01/2019 21:19

sneeze I think it's ok to do that when you're just starting out. Right now, you are learning to eat within a calorie restriction. That's a big change. Once you're consistently managing it, start trying to make better choices within your allowance.

I found that as my allowance went down, I had to change what food I was eating so I didn't go hungry. When you've can spend the same calories on a huge dinner, or a slice of peanut butter toast, you soon make the better choice.

Cultofpersonality · 13/01/2019 12:10

I am terrible at this weight loss thing!

Like actually awful. I start something and then I just end up back in my old ways.

I’ve lost 3stone before so I know I can do it!

Here I am again, for the billionth time.

Weighed myself on 1st Jan- 287lbs. Absolutely horrific I know.

Today I’ve weighed myself 285lbs.

2lbs in 13 days, can’t complain too much since I’ve been consuming all of the left over Christmas chocolate.
Well it’s all gone now! And can be replaced with deliciously colourful healthy foods.
I’m going to do this, and I’m going to not give up this time!

This is a bit of waffle sorry.

The important bits:

Start - 287
To lose - 70
Current loss - 2

Will probably weigh in on a Wednesday, since that’s my first day off in the week.

moonlight1705 · 13/01/2019 12:39

I wasn't going to weigh myself but did anyway as I really want to keep a record. I've put on 2kg (5lb) this week but feel its a lot of baby plus a week of comfort eating.

The funeral is going to be on 21st which is surprisingly quick but think my family wanted it so I don't give birth before then. It will be a chance to say goodbye properly so I'm doing the eulogy with my dad. Off to write that in a bit.

Frogletmamma · 13/01/2019 13:49

Actually put on 7lb this week. However have given up alcohol so on the whole I am not too worried. Basically I have craved a load of sweet stuff
I don't have a sweet tooth so I don't think this will last. Obviously my body is used to the energy from beer.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 13/01/2019 16:17

Hi Cult, welcome. I started at 270(.75!) and now I'm 186. Can't believe how much has gone! I've also been historically shit at this, but this time I'm doing it.

Moonlight sounds like you are being sensible. Keep on taking care of yourself. I hope the funeral goes well.

Froglet congratulations on giving up smoking!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 13/01/2019 16:17

*alcohol, not smoking! Sorry, distracted by toddler.

fezzesarecool · 14/01/2019 16:34

So every week at work I’m faced with a giant poster with this season’s promotion for health and fitness of diet pills!

Please someone slap some sense into me! It’s very tempting looking at the poster to try them out but I know I don’t need to if I just stick to what I’m doing. I know there’s no magic pill but it’s still such a struggle at some points as I’ve got far to go and yes a pound a week adds up but I just want to be done already!

I’m still in the obese category and still scared to shop in non Plus size stores.

Anyway feel better for confessing to the the temptation! Hope the poster comes down soon!!!

Hope everyone’s having a good week.

FATEdestiny · 14/01/2019 17:25

The poster will come down and you can ignore it fezzesarecool. These things are all bollocks, as you know.

Weight loss = calorie deficit. That is all.

I did my longest ever run on Saturday - 25km/15.5m. Felt amazing! But ate and ate and ate and ATE when I'd finished. Far too much, unsustainable appetite. As a result I put on 3lb and as yet am sticking there.

I don't care about the gain though. My body can run 15 frigging miles! That's phenomenal. My body is amazing.

HCru · 14/01/2019 17:40

I want to lose 140lb total. So far I have lost 32.5lb, so 107.5lb to go. This is just under 1/; of the war there.

ATM I have loads of motivation and I hope it sticks round SmileGrin

I'm using MyFitnessPal and calorie deficit.

Tomorrow night I will be going to my first ever exercise class and doing yoga, I'm really looking forward to it and all the benefits I hope it will bring long term.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 14/01/2019 21:15

there’s no magic pill

That's absolutely right, Fezzes. There isn't. Just determination and hard work, which you've got and done in spades!

Fate that's incredible! Well done you! I can now jog on the spot for about half an hour, but I've not tried it when moving yet! Ha ha!

HCru welcome! That's a great loss so far, well done! I'm a MFP user too, almost a year now. I'm really pleased with it - so easy!

fezzesarecool · 14/01/2019 23:13

Thanks everyone!

It’s really really stupid of me but that poster starring at me for a 6 hour shift really messes with me!

Hard work ALL the way big sigh. Though nothing worth having is ever easy and these sort of down moments are great to have written down as when I get to goal and over the initial honeymoon period of weight loss it’s goid to remember how hard it really is and to stay within a good check weight range.

strawberrypig · 14/01/2019 23:30

Hi all, been awol for a while, last I posted I was taking a break for a while. So a while turned into a couple of months and I braved the scales on New Year's Day. Eekkk, plus 12lbs!!!!

I was kind of expecting it and so drew a line under it, got ready to climb onto the horse again..... and promptly woke up on the 2nd January with full blown flu. I'm still off work now, I've never been so ill. On the plus side I've lost the 12lbs and another three lbs as well in the fortnight. Not the best of ways to do it.

I will have a catch up with the thread in the morning, just woke myself coughing and thought I would check in.

AnotherOtter · 15/01/2019 07:04

Very late weigh in for last weight and have STS which I am pleased about. Total is 107.6lbs lost so 2.6lbs under target. Made a big effort to be more accurate with putting my exercise into MFP as was slacking a bit there. Was nice to have more calories to play with though not sure I made the best use of them. Still working on eating 'binge foods' in normal portions so my brain gets used to those foods as just a normal, occasional treat rather than a trigger. It's definitely getting easier. I ate two mini cupcakes last night and heard myself think that I could do a better job baking them, nothing about eating the whole packet. I don't think the 'weight loss journey' ever truly ends and definitely not just because a certain number appears on the scales. I will be learning and relearning for the rest of my life. I find that a comforting thought but maybe I'm just weird Grin

Lovely to see you back, strawberry, and well done for facing the scales. Bloody hell you've been very ill to drop so much weight so quickly! Hope you are better soon Thanks How is your wee girl doing with the neurologist? Ignore that if you would rather not say.

Those adverts are really tough, fezzes. Deliberately designed to push our buttons and get our money. The thing that helps me resist is to remember that these companies' number one priority is profit not my health. Much safer, much more effective and much cheaper to use the official NHS advice which is supported by evidence by actual scientists. It's very understandable that you feel a bit impatient but remember how far you have come. Your progress has been fantastic!

Welcome HCru. You have done really well already. Good luck and have fun at your first class tonight.

Well done on the very long run, FATE Star Your running is such an achievement, you must be very proud. Obviously I am no expert, as only do shorter runs, but from what I've read on the running thread and the books recommended by emummy, was your voracious appetite because you had not eaten nearly enough in the days leading up to the long run? I know you prefer a large calorie deficit for weight loss. These two aims don't sound like they are meshing very well unfortunately.

Well done for giving up alcohol, Froglet. How are you finding it this week?

Moonlight Thanks Thanks for checking in and I hope the arrangements go smoothly. You take care of yourself.

Welcome and welcome back to the other newbies and returnees. Sorry I don't have time to do more replies. We are all doing so well and with KOKO (keeping on keeping on) we will get to where we want to be Thanks

Hi everyone
Not posted in ages

Starting weight 225.5
Goal weight 150

Total loss to date 38.5

Hey, could I join, please? Need the motivation!

Height: 5” 9’
Start: 252ib at start of November
Goal: 158ib
Currently: 224ib
Loss: 28ib
Still to lose: 66ib

I put another half a stone on over Christmas but I’ve just lost that in the last couple of weeks.

Hiphopopotamus · 15/01/2019 12:16

So I’m back on it and since Christmas I’m down another 4lbs, taking me to 15,11. It’s tough but I’m just plodding on with it - slow and steady.

Cultofpersonality · 16/01/2019 09:02

Hey slithytove
Congrats on being more than half way, that’s fantastic!

Have weighed myself this morning so I’m on my normal Weekly Wednesday Weigh-in.

No change, which in a little bit disappointed by because I’ve been eating better and doing a lot more moving but it’s not a gain so I suppose it’s not too bad.

I’m going for a spa day today. Trying to tell myself I’m confident enough to be around people in a swimming costume but internally I’m really hoping there’ll be nobody else in the spa while I’m there Blush

HoneysuckIejasmine · 16/01/2019 16:58

You can do it Fezzes!

Strawberry hi love, welcome back. Well done for braving the scales. So sorry to hear you've been unwell though, that sounds rotten.

AnotherOtter I love your big posts. You are doing so well! I imagine maintenance is hard.

Well done on the milestone, slithy!

Candle welcome aboard! Well done on your progress so far, and shifting the Christmas gain.

Hiphop absolutely, slow and steady is much more sustainable, as is learning to eat properly rather than following a fad diet.

On that point, on how to lose weight well this week a lady was doing lighter life. She lost of course, but did comment that she still didn't know how to eat properly. It was brushed off with a joke ("put it in your mouth and chew")) andey moved on, but I thought it was a very valid point.

Cult oooh, enjoy the spa! Husband and I are thinking of a spa day for our anniversary but can't quite bring ourselves to fork out for one. So expensive!

sneezeandclench · 17/01/2019 05:05

Hi there, just checking in to say I am still doing very well. Official weigh in is Friday but a sneaky peek is very promising.

I had a hard day yesterday as my lovely son made a massive cheesecake and put it in the fridge. Well it called to me all day but I managed to resist as I knew it would lead to a slippery slope but I actually felt very upset by the evening. I let him make it as he has mental health issues and baking is one of the few things that make him feel better. I think another issue is that my family have seen me start and break diets so many times that they just don't believe I can do it so they don't worry about sabotaging my efforts. I suppose though it is just down to me and my willpower and I should stop obsessing over a bloody cheesecake. Hopefully it will be gone in the next day or so anyway.

It is very hard not having food to turn to as a comfort, I found it very uncomfortable to sit with my feelings but I am pleased I managed it. I have a diary where I log my food and calories but also use it to write 'head stuff' down and it did help. I am so used to literally stuffing any unpleasant feeling down with chocolate or carbs so it was weird not to and I actually felt quite vulnerable. I expect this will all get a bit easier with time and I am loving losing weight so it is worth it.
