I have an appointment with my chemist to get my third pen on Monday. After much consideration, I've decided to ask for 2.5mg again. I've started getting a little acid reflux when I go to bed and don't want to risk this being worse with a higher dose. My weight is falling off very quickly so don't see any reason to up the dose. I have a long journey of weight loss ahead so keeping the low dose as long as I can. Is anyone else sticking with the 2.5mg?

I’ve just started my third cycle of 2.5mg. I agree it’s a hard decision, but like you didn’t want any increased side effects.

still losing but slowly, which I hope will be better in the long term.

Cliffedge25 · 28/09/2025 04:04

The 2.5 has now stopped working for me.
I have 5mgs ready and waiting.

Proving to me that when the maximum dose stops working eventually, I will be right back where I was.

Also proving that my obesity is driven by neuroscience. The effect that MJ has had on my brain is nothing short of miraculous. I have the “on it” thinking, my brain is quiet. Then the “off it” with an obsessive, compulsive noisy drive to eat.

Heres hoping that some miracle will be invented in the next 3-6 months because I cannot afford the maximum dose at all.

I'm sticking with 2.5 too. I'm on my 6th dose. I hope to stay on it as long as possible. I'm definitely feeling hunger now, but I'm still happy with the fact I feel fuller on less food than before, and cravings are still being nicely managed.

Weightlosstimeforgood · 30/09/2025 16:37

I’m now on 0.5 wegovy as of friday
No side effects
however the suppression is very subtle! The first 2 weeks were so strong for me starting, but this is not the same
i actually have to stop myself eating more if that makes sense, i could go on a full sugar binge if i wanted to where as the first 2 weeks I could only manage a small amount of food and i was done and I was no even tempted by sugar

the last 4 weeks I’ve gained and lost the same 3lbs so I’m still only at a 10lb loss since starting at the start of August. So I really want another whoosh of weight now in October 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I’m down 2 pounds just after the first week of increasing my dose.
so pleased
total of 12 pounds lost which I’m happy about

Glad things have picked up for you @Weightlosstimeforgood!

I was down 11 lbs in total as of last Friday, when I took dose #6. I'm finding at present that at weekends I'm hungrier and thinking about food more. It seems to take those two days for the Wygovy to kick in, then by Monday suppression is back, at least to a sufficient extent that I no longer think about food. This tends to last out until Friday when I take the next dose.

The key difference here is that even on those hungrier days I'm not experiencing my old insatiable cravings for all the wrong food. There's an obvious pattern emerging looking on my app at calories consumed on week days vs. weekends (edited to say it's actually only Saturday the calories really go up!). But still averaging 1300 calories a day and a fairly steady loss is continuing. If ALL WLIs did was stop the cravings, it would be worth the money for that alone.

I think unless I see a major change over the next week I'll stick with 0.25 next month too.

That’s fantastic!! Well done

I’ve stayed on 2.5mg and am 20.5lb down since 28 July ( so about 2lb a week, some weeks better than others)

Hoping to be almost target by Christmas

Cliffedge25 · 08/10/2025 08:09

Took my last dose of 2.5 on Saturday.

It’s definitely stopped working BUT determined to not undo the progress, I’m sticking to MFP, consuming around 800 cals a day. Concentrating on quality nutrition within those 800 cals.

Its been nearly 2 weeks now with no effects from the last couple of doses.
On the scale, I am up by 4lbs…. On 800 cals a day.
This is what I am up against and why I think I NEED the chemical intervention to regulate how I process food, even in very small quantities.

Perimenopause has completely fucked up my body. I could never have considered that this would be the fight against my own body.

I KNOW, for a fact, that taking in any more than 900-1000 cals a day, I gain weight at an alarming rate. My body does not need the “average” quoted so often.

Roll on Saturday for 5mgs.. I am desperate that it works.

watfordmummy · 08/10/2025 08:31

I also wanted to say thank you for the Biomed recommendation. That with Greek yoghurt every morning has really made a difference.

I know what you mean about needing the chemical intervention. I read an interesting article yesterday about how when people have inflammation in bodies either from health conditions, insulin resistance or menopause, then their bodies hold on to the fat and they have huge problems losing weight. Part of the magic of GLP-1 is that it reduces inflammation so those of us who have struggled for years to lose weight can suddenly have success. Fascinating stuff. I have been to slimming world for ten years and weigh more than I did when I started, I kept losing, gaining, losing, gaining. I was convinced that my body just wanted to be fat. I now realise it was part of a inflammation cycle, thankfully I'm now losing weight without gaining thanks to GLP-1!
I hope that the 5mg gets the losses back for you.

It's good isn't it. I haven't had any constipation since starting that. Keeps it in check.

Thank you for your fantastic insight and understanding what so many just don’t.. the menopausal insulin resistance and impossible fight to lose even the smallest amount of weight while going through this period of life.

I get so sick of the same comments about “ starvation mode and not eating enough, you need 1200 cals a day” I know 100% that I do not.
I’ve been at this dieting lark for over 30 years, I know acutely how my body requirements have changed and how my “machine” now functions.

It is utterly utterly shite.
No matter what I’d do, I remain fat and gain more fat at an alarming rate with very little additional calories.
Mounjaro is the only thing that has worked in over 7 years. It’s a bloody miracle!

watfordmummy · 08/10/2025 20:54

I am thinking of going up to 5mg as today I found myself thinking of snacking… which I haven’t until now.

But I’m apprehensive.

But I’m only on week 2 of my third cycle….

Weightlosstimeforgood · 16/10/2025 09:02

I’m down my first stone this morning I’m so pleased!
I don’t think I’ve been mindful at all this week in my eating and I was bracing myself for a gain but down 2lbs since last week.
im into the new stone bracket so happy to see it

Up to 5mg, one week in.
Zero loss.
Nausea & headache day 1, didn’t eat for 48 hours, MFP, 800 cals a day for the rest of the week.
zero loss.
Got hope though for the next 3 weeks.
Gotta keep going!

I’m sorry. I need to make a decision whether to up or not. I’m thinking I may just stick for the 4th time.

Cliffedge25 · 20/10/2025 12:06

The headache is absolutely horrendous.
I had the jab on Saturday, still have a headache today.
At least I’ve not got the nausea.

Oh no!! I’ve stuck on the 2.5mg for my next round which starts next week.

Away in Marbella this week so will be interesting to see if I lose.

Hopefully you’ll have a woosh week xx

Cliffedge25 · 20/10/2025 17:20

I stuck to 2.5 for 2 months but it completely stopped having any effect by week 4/5.
so I went up to 5mgs.

How is it going? Are you feeling better and having any weight loss success on 5mg?
I think I'm going to go up to 5mg for my fourth pen. It's getting difficult to not snack. I'm keeping to my calorie deficit but it is getting harder.

watfordmummy · 22/11/2025 21:05

Hi I’m now 24lb down, and have gone up to 5mg for the first time today.

But… I have freezing feet!!

Lovinglifeand · 24/11/2025 19:09

Congratulations on the 24lb loss! How are you finding the new dose? I still haven't been brave enough to go to 5mg
