November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I’m back jabbing since taking two weeks after having what I’m now sure was norovirus. Taking it slowly and feeling no suppression on 3.75 but my willpower is working - just!

Had a bit of a wake-up call not jabbing for two weeks as it was a good friend’s wedding and we all had access to the hotel’s club lounge so I put on 6lb over the weekend!!! And that’s just food as I don’t drink 😱. It’s come off again pretty quickly thankfully and I’m now 32lb down from my start weight (3/11/24).

Also dealing with the stress of my dad being in hospital and being in a very confused state with what I think is a urine infection, on top of very erratic blood sugar readings (he has type 2). So I’m even more determined to get the weight off so I don’t suffer the same fate.

Sorry for long rambly message!

Sorry to hear about your dad, it’s a really stressful time isn’t it? I hope he gets the right meds and his home soon.

I found also that when I gained weight on my weekend away, it disappeared very quickly with some concerted effort so I guess my new life after MJ will be to keep an eye on my weight constantly. If that’s what it takes, that’s what I’ll have to do!

I have two NSVs to report. 1) I am now comfortably wearing a size 16 instead of the size 20 I have been for thirty years bar a couple of prelockdown years when I was a size 14 and 2) my blood pressure is now in the textbook healthy range for someone my age. The latter was what triggered me to start the weight loss in the first place. Oh, and there's a third, which is that the other half keeps staring at me and saying he's just objectifying me because my thighs look incredible but my boobs aren't smaller so he is a happy lech.

murraymcgill · 26/02/2025 18:56

Bloody sick here we go again PERIODS I'm 52 I need peace and quiet I'm throwing Tranzematic Acid down my throat like I use to do with strawberry bonbons

Well firstly, your DH would not earn a heated stable with a games room in the SH sanctuary doing that…..😂 I had a creme egg last week. It shut the noise down in my head wondering what it would taste like. It was ok. Interestingly though, i only wanted the one. Previously I’d have eaten all 5 in the box and thrown the evidence that there ever were any in the bin and put other rubbish on top of that….so progress I guess!

Oops, I literally did this a couple weeks back! 😳 all bloomin’ 5 and evidence hidden… 🫣 Ok so I’m going to go ahead and claim the prize for the most hopeless case on this chat! 😂 Any other takers?

You poor thing! Can you take HRT? I take progesterone constantly throughout the month which keeps everything stable in that department. It’s been quite a time for you lately, I do feel for you 💐

@Mounjaropen I'm on HRT a gel called Ustogel and a tablet Uestrogen I think but lately it's been bad

Jellybaby30 · 26/02/2025 07:38

I could've written this! On the whole I eat less, don't gorb the sugary snacks like I used to and do try and eat better eg v healthy brek and lunch daily but on the whole family and work life is crazy busy and sleep deprived and I'm just glad I took the MJ plunge and am working it the best I can in current situ. Solidarity!

Ahoy Jellybaby30! and solidarity right back atcha! 😁 I have done less well on the sugar front (since suppression up and left in Dec) so v well done! Last week has been better so am hopeful suppression is coming back which will make healthy choices easier

I shall let you all know when the hunger games-style appointment system opens at 8am tomorrow and we shall see if I am worthy of a time slot to speak to a Doctor after hurdling the e-consult nonsense where you have to keep going back to alter your last answer in order to progress to the next level 😂

Oh I totally hear you! Honestly is such a bun fight, I don’t know why it has to be like this 🙄 The only time I get success for an apt is for the DC as they’re little. God speed Mounjaropen, pick up the bow and sprint to the forrest!!

I’m on Utrogestan too. Do you take it continuously? Might be worth asking your GP if you don’t already. Hope you feel better soon!

So sorry you’re having it rough murraymcgill 😢 I don’t know if this is the case for HRT but I’ve had to have my other meds adjusted since starting MJ (needed to go up a dose)

It’s like MJ has dampened the effect of my other meds, but the dose increase has sorted it. Hopefully will be the case for you too and the Dr’s can get the level/s back in balance x

Thank you. Yes very difficult. I’ve seen you’ve been through it all too. It is hard work. My mum died 8 years ago and my stepmum just over a year ago so it’s just my dad now and he’s v stubborn!

And yes I was surprised how easy I slipped back into bad habits that weekend although I had barely eaten a thing in the lead-up because of the virus, so I’m not too cross with myself!

I'm at my lowest weight since 2017 and I have noticed thoughts of 'oooh, you could just have a creme egg' creeping back in. I think it's my brain self-sabotaging. It's not food noise as it's not hunger. I think it's a mental reward system - I've got to a new scales number (or at least one I've not seen in 8 years) and it's like my brain thinks it's time to relax a bit. I did the exact same thing in 2023 when I hit my previous low point on Fast800, maintained sporadically for 3-4 months and then fell off the wagon with a crash. I'm not very sure whether to eat one creme egg and then keep going, or not to eat the creme egg and ignore my brain. (Very specific example caused by DH leaving a box of creme eggs next to the kettle, so I see them every time I go into the kitchen).

It's interesting you describe that as not food noise as that's exactly what I'd call it. To me food noise and hunger are completely separate things. The latter could be urgent, especially getting home from work and needing tea asap, but was based on my body needing food as fuel. Food noise though wasn't physical hunger but that creme egg voice that won't shut the fuck up until you've eaten one, felt like all is lost and eaten the rest of them.

murraymcgill · 26/02/2025 20:19

Yeah I take it every day it's a wee squishy tablet are u the same

Wow it looks gorgeous!

can you justify it with the savings on snacks and food from MJ 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had a rummage around my banking apps and found a couple of 'save the change/round up' accounts I'd forgotten about....so those combined with the fortune I've saved on eating out/drinking wine gives me the justification! 😉 And realising I hit my 2 stone lost milestone a couple of weeks ago, so that definitely deserves a reward! Better to reward myself with something that will last for years, than revert to my old rewards of wine and junk food!

Evening all, just had to share, I can’t quite believe it. I posted about maybe increasing to 5 I stayed on 2.5 until jan then went to 3.62 not sure how to work out how much I’m taking as doing 40 clicks from a 7.5 pen so more than 3.75 but not 5.62as that would be 45(long story)ANYWAY what I wanted to say was I’m 12st 3lb!!! Can’t believe it - I could see the 11’s within couple weeks so 11st doesn’t feel like a pipe dream. Thanks for all the motivational support
