November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Happy new thread! Thanks @Mounjaropen :)

I've been looking at my calorie tracking in Nutracheck over the last few weeks and I really don't think I'm eating enough. I average about 900 calories a day. I might need to start having an extra banana or bit of chicken but I just have so little interest in food at all.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 06/02/2025 08:35

Checking in!

W13D7
F, 41, 5’2”
Start weight: 12.7
Current weight: 10.13
Goal weight: 9.10 (BMI 24.9, then hopefully 9 stone after that)
Total loss so far: 22 lbs

I’m up a little this morning (actually 10.13.8, grr) but I had pasta for dinner at 8pm, so I think it’s just food weight in my system and it will disappear quickly. I also stayed up late reading, which is one of my worst habits. I didn’t put the light off until 1.15 last night, oops! I keep reading about the importance of sleep but I sabotage mine all the time.

I’d invest in more protein to compensate for muscle loss? Just think of food as a fuel rather than a dopamine hit?

Yeah you're right - I used to eat a lot of eggs but I get sulphur burps and it's put me off eggs a bit. Maybe I need to have cooked chicken in the fridge to nibble on.

Thank you for new thread @Mounjaropen

Been following but not much to contribute from me. I'm still in India. Chicken tikka is my go to food. High protein with the lowest calorie count. Strangely before MJ I loved very spicy food but now can't tolerate chilli at all.

Just received this email from MedExpress with regards to regulations.

I have to admit, I did put in an earlier than normal order on Tuesday when this was all over the news. I presume this email will have been sent to their existing clients, it would be interesting to know if anything is to change for new referrals.

You may have seen the recent news coverage about updated guidance for online weight loss prescriptions, and we know you might have questions. We want to reassure you that your treatment will continue without disruption.

What you need to know

Nothing changes for you right now. Your prescription will continue as usual—no extra steps, no delays.

We meet regulating standards. Regulators are tightening checks across the industry, but we’ve always taken patient safety seriously. In fact, we've set a high standard already by carefully reviewing every prescription to make sure it’s safe and right for you. Our processes remain fully compliant, and we proactively share prescribing information with your GP to keep them informed.

Looking ahead. Over time, we may introduce new tools to better help understand your medical history and keep you safe. For example, we might securely access a record of your past prescriptions to make more informed decisions about your care. But for now? Everything stays the same for you.

What this means for your next order

If you’re due a refill, there’s nothing extra you need to do.

If you're maintaining your weight loss results, you will not be penalised for reaching a healthy BMI.

Why this is a positive change

The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) is strengthening safeguards across the industry—something we fully support. Patient safety has always been our top priority, and we already have robust prescription checks in place to ensure safe, effective care.

As always, your treatment remains our priority, and we are committed to supporting you every step of the way.

Thank you for your understanding and continued trust.

The MedExpress Team

week 11, 7.5mg
F, 42
sw - 12st 9
cw - 10st 11
gw - 10st 2

I’ve not really changed my meals as they were healthy (mostly cook from scratch) but I’ve significantly reduced the portion size and hardly ever snack. That’s made the huge difference. I was eating lots of eggs - omelettes and scramble egg with Parma ham but I’ve gone off them at the moment. I think I was eating too many.

Placemaking for weigh in day confessional tomorrow!

Pumpkinforever · 06/02/2025 14:06

Well done @lovealongbath I might get a second hand cross trainer or similar gadget to use at home. I have a suspicion I might have one of the old step things in the garage

Anyway a NSV for me. I purchased a couple of size 16 fleeces from Weird Fish & Crew Clothing in the sales and they fit! Okay they might be a little smug but before MJ I could only buy size 20. I reckon another stone will see me in a snug 14!

In other news I am toying with switching provider as Lloyds is on pricier side so may opt for Oushk when moving up to 5mg next month

Pumpkinforever · 06/02/2025 14:13

And I am definitely in the market for smaller smalls @Mounjaropen The question is do I buy a few size 16 as size 20 now baggy or do I wait a month for size 14

Pumpkinforever · 06/02/2025 14:20

And today I treated myself to some Clarins lip oil balm (No 3 lychee) as a well done to me treat 😁 lovely moisturising stuff with a pop of colour.

Slow loser here 😔😔😔

Started 25th Oct
F 50. (3 years post menopause!)
SW 12.7
CW 11.10
Total slow loss 11lbs.

In 15 weeks 🤷🏽‍♀️😖😔

I don't count calories but eat very limited.
& I would be surprised if it was over 12-1600 a day!

A typical day consists of

Bowl of fruit & fibre
Banana
Protein yogurt
Apple & tablespoon of peanut butter
Protein shake
Black coffee x 4
1-2litres of water (not consistently) but average. (I wish I could drink more water)!
1 Cup of tea
1 Highlight hot chocolate with protein collagen powder!

Sometimes I might have a handful of almonds or a small meal scrambled egg on toast!

I don't normally eat meals & tend to graze for mealtimes.

Any suggestions welcomed (I don't cook meals so plain basic food for me)
🙏🏻🫶🏼

Thank you for the new thread @Mounjaropen !

So grateful for these threads and support. If I was on my own I’d definitely feel alone and less motivated.

Stats again:

F, 44
SW 16 stone 7
CW 14 stone 10
GW 11 stone (with mini targets of 14 stone, 12 stone 7) (though any half stone marker is exciting!)

LED face mask update - sadly not much to report on just yet. I got the Shark one and started using it with blemish mode, but my existing breakout of spots were annoying me so much I had to get more acne cream from the GP, and the instructions say not to use it with acne treatment so I paused the mask for now. Ideally I would have given it longer as I do think my skin was improving with it, just not fast enough given the state I’d let my skin get to. Initial observations: very easy to use, the under eye cooling is lovely, mask is quite heavy though.

In happier news my skin has tolerated the acne cream well this time (previously it seemed to burn it!) so that’s something! Will restart LED mask work this weekend and report back in a few weeks when it’s had a chance to do its thing.

I’ve also been rather rash and ordered a pair of (admittedly not expensive) new jeans in a style I wouldn’t normally brave. The barrel leg. Normally wide leg anything makes me look like a pair of tree trunks, but I’m bored of leggings and bootcut jeans (I’m in such a style rut!) so will see how I get on when they arrive.

Any fashion tips on what is in right now and would suit a chubby 5ft 6 lady would be much appreciated 😁

jay55 · 06/02/2025 15:59

Thanks for new thread.
I'm on the train to Cornwall for the weekend. I'm hoping I'll do enough walking to offset any food.

The email from medexoress was a relief. I'm hopeful they'll make any transition easy for existing customers.

JasonTindallsTan · 06/02/2025 16:52

Just checking in, not been around much but really trying to get back in the zone. Just ordered my 10mg pen, using a new supplier as current one has stopped all discount codes and were wanting £60 more than previously advertised so in the bin they go!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 06/02/2025 17:13

I’m not massively in the zone either - wish I’d gone up to 7.5mg instead of getting a second 5mg pen. I could jab extra tomorrow, but I’m away on Sat night so I think I’ll do 5mg tomorrow (dose 3 from this pen) and then do dose 4 plus a bit extra to make it up to 7.5mg the week after.

MsRumpole · 06/02/2025 17:15

Present! Thanks for the new thread. I am now in the 21s!

I hope you don’t mind me saying so, but it really sounds like you don’t eat very much at all! Would you not rather eat something like chicken and veg/salad rather than a protein shake? If you’re veggie then ignore this suggestion. However I do think it would help your general health if you ate a wider variety of real food. If you don’t like cooking, what about buying M&S salads or trays of vegetables or cooked chicken/prawns etc? I’m not sure if this would help your weight loss but it’s worth a try.
