November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

New thread!

Getting dressed for work is taking me ages at the moment. What's too big, just right, still too small? Plus smart enough for my new job which is surprisingly corporate when everywhere else even in the city seems to have gone to jeans and trainers.

Basically I've gone from a 16 to a 14 and a 34JJ to a 34HH 😀

Have been a bit more hungry the last couple of days and a bit more tired, which I'm guessing is mostly hormonal.

Slow loser here 😔😔😔

Started 25th Oct
F 50. (3 years post menopause!)
SW 12.7
CW 11.10
Total slow loss 11lbs.

In 15 weeks 🤷🏽‍♀️😖😔

I don't count calories but eat very limited.
& I would be surprised if it was over 12-1600 a day!

A typical day consists of

Bowl of fruit & fibre
Banana
Protein yogurt
Apple & tablespoon of peanut butter
Protein shake
Black coffee x 4
1-2litres of water (not consistently) but average. (I wish I could drink more water)!
1 Cup of tea
1 Highlight hot chocolate with protein collagen powder!

Sometimes I might have a handful of almonds or a small meal scrambled egg on toast!

I don't normally eat meals & tend to graze for mealtimes.

Any suggestions welcomed (I don't cook meals so plain basic food for me)
🙏🏻🫶🏼

I think you may find it helpful to calculate your TDEE and then look at what you are actually eating. Are you having milk in any of your breakfast/drinks?
obviously I don’t know the brands you’re using (which could influence quite a bit) but I estimate you’re getting approx 800 calories a day without the eggs almonds etc.

it feels like two most likely possibilities

  1. your sneaking on extra calories which you haven’t listed
  2. your body is in starvation mode and holding onto everything it can
Cantbesure · 06/02/2025 19:08

@FlorenceB19 I'm also a slow loser and only lost 16lbs in the same time frame. It does look like your diet is quite limited. What changes have you made since starting MJ. Do you know your TDEE and do you weigh things like your cereal? A recommended portion size is 40g which is about 150 calories but I would easily be having double that if I was free pouring! Do you feel full and have energy? I have mug shots for lunch when I'm rushed off my feet. The tomato ones are about 250 calories with reasonable protein.

(Gained 200g today 😭)

am back focused post holiday so hope to get below 12st (76kgs) in the next 2 weeks! Hope to be under 75 by the end of the month.

I have been to the gym 2x this week and am getting over 10k steps too.

I’m away with work again 2 more times this month so I need to be strong and resist temptation

Love the title of this thread. I’ve got smaller bras and I think I need some smaller pants! 😂😂

Oceangrey · 06/02/2025 20:56

Well, I've managed to 'accidentally' eat 100g of chocolate this evening. Suspect I'm going to feel quite sick, and I'm struggling not to go into a self recriminatory spiral about it.

I bought it planning to eat a bit at a time which has been fine with previous dark chocolate in my cupboard, but this was a toblerone type bar from marks (more delicious) and I didn't even realise it was that much chocolate until I'd eaten it all.

I think you can genuinely say the sugar made you do it!!! Milk chocolate I will eat loads of because one bit is just never satisfying, it only serves to make me want more. Just dark chocolate and I’m good with one (large) square (but it doesn’t taste quite as nice!!!), Don’t beat yourself up! One Toblerone does not undo all your efforts up to now 😊

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 07/02/2025 08:48

Good morning all! Weigh in day today and I have had a small whoosh since yesterday, losing 1.6 lbs this week. I was worried it would be a gain so very happy with my overnight whoosh.

Della82 · 07/02/2025 09:19

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar love a whoosh 💪

Well done!

PinkArt · 07/02/2025 11:32

Thanks for the new thread @Mounjaropen . No smaller smalls yet but my current ones are definitely loser. As soon as I'm confidently down a size I'm off to restock as most of my pants are in a sorry state at the moment.

Just a pound off this week which I'm a bit gutted about. Having words with myself though as that's still a pound and they all count.

This takes me down the weight I was at when I was last naked with someone (why yes it has been a while 😭). It's a good milestone as while I can pretend I don't need external validation, knowing someone found this sexy does make me feel better about my body.

Babymamamama · 07/02/2025 12:58

Ooh thanks for the new thread @Mounjaropen your title is very prophetic for me. As I was mulling over the smaller smalls in Asda Home just this week as one does when on MJ. 😍
Sadly weight loss has completely stalled for me for a second time since our shared journeys began. It’s a mystery though because clothes are becoming ever baggier and people starting to notice the two stone plus loss. I just did a so called bonus dose of 5mg last night but I have the 7.5 pen at the ready and may even feel tempted to do a top up from that one early. Could anyone who is cleverer than I am kindly advise me how many clicks from a 7.5 pen to get 2.5 dose out ( to add to the 5mg I did last night). I’d like another little whoosh on the scales but it seems a bit out of reach right now despite the careful eating. All I can think is all this extra protein /low carb I’m doing must be actually building some muscle. Which is why the scales are no longer shifting. 🤔Any ideas wise ones?

60 clicks for 7.5 so 20 clicks for 2.5

(dose you want/pen strength x 60 )

Also stalled so no help there! (Tiredness & hormones here so I'm going to stay the course for another week)

DarkForces · 07/02/2025 14:28

My BMI is under 30 for the first time in over a decade!!! Plus fitting into a small 14 comfortably. It's a good day!

AlwaysTimeForWine · 07/02/2025 14:44

Can't believe it missed the start of a new thread!! I've been so manic at work and home that I've not posted for ages.

W12 D6
SW 15st 10.6 BMI 32.7
CW 13st 12.8 BMI 28.8
Total lost so far on MJ 25.8.
Total lost since Sep - 31.4 lbs.

Official weigh in and shot number 13 tomorrow.

A little happy dance this morning as my weight dropped into the 13's for the first time since 2019. And my BMI went below 29.

Just can't believe I'm seeing those numbers. It's fab! So in 12 weeks to lose 25lbs is more than I ever expected. And it's slow, about 1.8lbs a week with the odd extra whoosh thrown in.

I've titrated up very slowly in that time. Hanging around 2.5mg for ages, and slowly creeping up towards 4mg where I plan to stay for as long as possible - it stretches my pens out a bit which works for me.

I eat anywhere from 1400-1800 calories a day. Sometimes I feel like my loss should be quicker but I refuse to starve so am fine with this!!

Little to no side effects at all any more. I don't sleep very well D1 and D2, I burp, and if I don't drink enough water can have mild constipation. But that's it.

The only annoying side effect is I get a reaction at my injection site. Doesn't matter where or what needle I use. Within 24 hours it goes red, puffy and itchy. It goes down again by D4.

Still have a way to go. I want to get into the 11 stones - I don't remember ever being that slim, which would put my BMI in the healthy range. And then looking to maintain so I am interested in which pharmacies do maintenance.

I do find that I miss food a bit. Not masses, as I eat really well and enjoy my food. But I miss sinking into a bottle of rose or demolishing a bar of dairy milk. I just don't want to do it anymore. But I miss the 'comfort' of it a little bit.

What a joyful thread! Everyone is doing so well and to those who have stalled keep going because I don’t think it means your body isn’t changing - sometimes it seems to be inches rather than stones - I have no idea why or how this works but seems to be normal for most people.

Last weekend I went shopping for a new wardrobe, I bought fitted jumpers and trendy jeans and I actually look slim in them. For years I’ve worn oversized clothes to hide various lumps and bumps so loosing weight had made my old clothes look quite ridiculous. For the first time in a very long time I feel good.

Wishing everyone a great weekend 🌟

Caplin · 07/02/2025 15:40

Hello new thread!!

Weigh in today and I lost 3lbs which is miraculous after I ate pizza and an afternoon tea last weekend. Since being ill in January my diet is a mess and I really need to push myself to eat mid week. Nowhere near any of my protein/veg/water goals. So that will be a focus next week as I’m back to strength work at the gym.

I am so close to a 3stone loss, only 2lbs away! And only a pound away from the next number down on the scales, which would put me at my lowest weight since 2017. And yet still so far to go 🫣

SW 18st 12.5lbs
CW 16st 1lbs
GW 12st 7lbs

PinkArt · 07/02/2025 15:59

It's phrases like 'which would put me at my lowest weight since 2017' that makes me know I've found my people here!
I was explaining to a very supportive friend my various spreadsheets that document successes, but mostly failures, at losing weight over the years and could tell she didn't quite get it. It feels wild that we could be looking at a future that doesn't involve thinking in terms of 'oooh that'll be my lowest weight since 2019' (starting to glimpse this one on the horizon).

Pumpkinforever · 07/02/2025 16:09

I am at my lowest weight since 2012! My next goal is to reach my 2011 when I had my gall bladder whipped out. Only 6lbs to go to achieve that target. I then have set lots of little targets to reach to reach before I am finally overweight instead of obese.

I am a woman on a mission and if anyone gets between me and my MJ there will be hell to pay 😂

PinkArt · 07/02/2025 16:51

Now that's just showing off @Pumpkinforever ! Did you start to gain after your gallbladder op? That's what happened to me. I lost about 4 stone, had the op when I was almost at goal, carried on eating exactly the same way but started to gain it back at the rate I'd lost it. At some point I just stopped trying because there didn't seem to be any point.

Mounjaropen · 07/02/2025 17:20

Well hello friends in my phone!

Quick update from me - did lose another 0.8lb this week so that makes me 11st 9.2lbs taking my total loss to 29.8lbs so far which I am chuffed with. Had an extreme knicker clear out this morning and also dug out the <ahem> 'fancy' pants some of which now fit. I have a rather marvellous and frivolous Gucci thong to wear (size M) when I hit target which was obviously a gift from DH that I never actually fitted into but never admitted😂

I treated myself to a new outfit for the rugby tomorrow and ended up buying a pair of faux leather legging/trousers in the sale that are a little on the snug side but were a size 10! Plus 2 tops that were sized 'M' and not 'L' 😁

Just now I found one of my neighbour's guard dogs in the road which I managed to stop with the help of a passerby who said these words - 'Be careful love, you're only tiny' - I bet he'd not have said that in October 😂Boom! (as the young people say).

Finished my Pvolve for the week which takes my total number of classes taken to 50 since Nov 4th and averages 4 x pw since then including 2 weeks off at Xmas and my blow-out weekend at the end of last month. To put that effort into context I haven't managed 100 peloton classes (including the 15min ones) since I got the bike in 2021 😂I did also walk to the new series of the Kardashians today with an incline of 5% and did 3 miles 💪

Happy Friday to everyone.

Thank you for new thread @Mounjaropen

Been following but not much to contribute from me. I'm still in India. Chicken tikka is my go to food. High protein with the lowest calorie count. Strangely before MJ I loved very spicy food but now can't tolerate chilli at all.

ooh sounds delightful! Have fun!

I’ve not really changed my meals as they were healthy (mostly cook from scratch) but I’ve significantly reduced the portion size and hardly ever snack. That’s made the huge difference. I was eating lots of eggs - omelettes and scramble egg with Parma ham but I’ve gone off them at the moment. I think I was eating too many.

Keep going! Hope the work Wendy is nearly ready to quit!

Well done @lovealongbath I might get a second hand cross trainer or similar gadget to use at home. I have a suspicion I might have one of the old step things in the garage

Anyway a NSV for me. I purchased a couple of size 16 fleeces from Weird Fish & Crew Clothing in the sales and they fit! Okay they might be a little smug but before MJ I could only buy size 20. I reckon another stone will see me in a snug 14!

In other news I am toying with switching provider as Lloyds is on pricier side so may opt for Oushk when moving up to 5mg next month

Ooh - well done on the new sizes!

And I am definitely in the market for smaller smalls @Mounjaropen The question is do I buy a few size 16 as size 20 now baggy or do I wait a month for size 14

Pop to Sainsbury's or somewhere inexpensive and buy some tide over pants in a 16 then splurge on the 14's ;-)

Congrats on the smaller arse 😂There is something strange about suddenl having baggy pants isn't there?
