November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Get two duvets. Best thing ever. We have two king size duvets and I can roll myself up in mine, it’s bliss! DH makes the bed and puts them one on top of the other and then tries to get under both, and I come in and make him surrender mine. If he could stop pulling the covers off me in the middle of the night I wouldn’t have to resort to this.

All I see there is two duvet covers to wash though… my DH just needs to learn that I am the queen and no duvet shall be yielded 😂

I did this! It's a game changer, I roll myself up in my king size duvet like a burrito and leave my DH to his crazy night-time shenanigans. Highly recommend.

“Crazy night-time shenanigans” 😆

What is wrong with them all?

Anyone suddenly developed nausea after coping fine on the same dose for a few months? Just wondering if it’s a blip and will pass. I’m 15 weeks in, only went up a dose after the first month and now feel generally bleurgh. Weight loss has slowed but reluctant to go up feeling like this.

I wouldn’t go up if you feel like that. Has anything else changed? Water intake? Diet? Medication?

Sorry another question! I have been relying on things like protein shakes to make up enough protein for the day, but recently I have wanted to eat more cleanly. I'm reading through older posts on this thread and getting some good ideas about meal planning so thank you.

I am also a bit fed up of logging everything in My Fitness Pal as I was concerned it was not contributing to me eating more intuitively (thinking ahead for when I am at goal and off Mounjaro) - sometimes it has been a bit of an obsession and I don't want that to grow. At the moment my suppression is pretty good and I have a rough idea of calories in things I eat but I obviously don't want to veer off track.

So I was just interested to hear from people who aren't tracking intake particularly and how it's going for them?

I think having been an obsessive calorie counter in my teens I pretty much know how many calories I have eaten. I know how to monitor carb grams from the Atkins in the early noughties so I only really use MFP to calculate the likely calories for a meal I have created from scratch like a cake or meringue so I can control my portion size. I think logging calories in MFP helps with issues such as snack control so you don’t forget you had a handful of almonds or a couple of custard creams. You need 1-2g of protein per kg of body weight. For me that is a sizeable portion of chicken or a couple of salmon fillets which is obviously expensive. Instead of protein shakes, could you swap to adding something like lentils to your diet? A cup of natural unsweetened Greek yogurt or an egg would make good additions also. A home cooked Dhal would be a good shout as one of your meals. It’s cheap and would give you a natural protein intake.

I'm feeling a bit low today... it's jab day so I'm hungrier and my tummy feels bloated and uncomfortable, but I also had a disappointment relating to a potential new job. I've found myself binging on crisps and bread for the first time since I started mj and fantasising about all sorts of treats I want to eat now that I've fallen off the diet wagon. I'm now hiding upstairs so I can't go rummaging through the kitchen looking for more snacks! Its made me feel so annoyed at myself for slipping back into old habits. I know it's only one day but I feel so disgusted that at the first bump in the road I start gorging on food again 😞.

It’s one day. Don’t be so hard on yourself. I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had a shitty day -sending hugs and a virtual Kit Kat and glass of Rose (they’re all calorie free)

Tomorrow is another day and you won’t have ruined anything in just one evening. We’ll all have days like this and it is a perfectly normal reaction to a crappy situation. 💐

We also have two duvets 😁 DH is a fidget and I am a ridiculously light sleeper. Two duvets is wonderful. Mine is a single, his is the super king size. Works perfectly! His snoring got so bad I had to move next door, but his weight loss on MJ has permitted me back into our room 😊

I can only dream of mine never snoring ever again 😭😭

Hey itsnotagameshow I have good intentions but am pretty consistently derailed by a chaotic family life and hopelessly disorganised! At the start of this I planned to track, but nope! I aimed to focus on protein and all the macros (in the main anyway) again nope 🙈 I planned to be better at planning, but nope 🫣 I aimed to start a regular exercise routine too and I think you’ll guess the answer! 😂 I have no idea which week I’m on, or how much I lost week on week, after about week 4. Have fallen, pretty much by accident, into the eating when I’m hungry (which is generally less than before) and not when I don’t. Trying to drink more and probably failing to drink enough most days.

Overall it must involve a cal deficit to have lost anything and I think ah well, just keep going and as long as the DC aren’t in hospital (we’ve had a rough year) it’ll be ok and just take each day as it own :)

I had good losses at the start but has been quite haphazard since, like the rest of this gorgeous but utterly insane family I find myself in the midst of.

❤️

I was away this weekend and ate out and more than I have been. I jumped on the scales yesterday and was 1lb up, which depressed me because although I was eating more I did eat a lot less than I would normally have done (and I do have the extra salt thing in my head too). BUT I have added in an extra gym day, and I think my very late period my be starting tomorrow, and I jabbed yesterday, so I’m going to resist hopping on the scales until Thursday (post gym day tomorrow) and see where I am at then 😁💪🤞🤞🤞🤞

🤞🏻🤞🏻

Sorry you’re feeling low today. Don’t beat yourself up about one off day, the long term difference will be what positive changes you can make tomorrow and not falling back into the spiral.

if it makes you feel any better I’ve had toast and a whole packet of worm sweets today-first time for months…

Thanks everyone... really appreciate the kind words. Secret eating has been an issue for me since childhood, so I think I just needed somewhere to confess so that I can hold myself to account and now get things back on track tomorrow!

I’m sorry to hear about your childhood issues. I think probably a lot of us are carrying a similar burden from a myriad of past experiences or events. I think it’s great how aware you are of any pitfalls and you are right, being accountable is a huge part of rectifying behaviour long term. keep going ❤️

Anyone else had the misfortune of listening to some journalist called Kate Mulvey on Woman’s Hour just now? WTF? A woman who has had Botox herself judging other women for having Botox and apparently Ozempic is cheating. That whole lazy tone of journalism really boils my piss no one on this thread is taking MJ and then stuffing their face with fish and chips and a full fat Coke, it’s supporting an entire lifestyle change. And apparently according to this woman we cannot classify ourselves as feminists if we succumb to Botox or injectables and take Ozempic. On the upside, my annoyance has upped the pace at which the dog is being walked 😡

Wtf?! I'm getting really fed up with this lazy journalism and the assumption that everyone on WLI is just taking the piss😡 These injections are life changing and probably life saving for most of us too! I was heading straight for diabetes and cardiovascular disease and carried the vast majority of my weight around my middle, which is considered the highest risk for heart disease.

Mounjaropen · 25/02/2025 15:40

Oh my dh needs to rehabilitation programme! Intensive course please for snoring and belching.

Another secret eater here. You're not alone. I remember going on holiday with friends and the shame I felt when they realised I'd secretly eaten all the biscuits and all the chocolate that we'd stocked up on 😢

SerenePeer · 25/02/2025 20:56

I'm in London for wok this week and have just had the most amazing salad from Yolk. Broccoli, mushrooms, roasted red pepper, leaves and tahini dressing. Yum!

I also fell in love with a beautiful bag while window shopping on Regent St....it's mega spenny, so not sure i can justify it but it's so pretty! Beautiful buttery leather and so chic. A perfect Jennifer Aniston bag ;-)

And I've been brave and booked a reformer pilates class for tomorrow morning at 6.15am 😳

Ooh tell us more about the bag! Salad sounds delish. Good luck at reformer Pilates. My Pvolve today was on the glider plates - which has a similar effect to the sliding carriages on the reformer machines. Suspect my inner thighs will be complaining in the morning…!

Indeed. I looked like an orange I was so round… obviously there will be people taking it to get into a dress when they are already thin.. look at the SAG awards this week…but the vast majority are trying to improve their health not for vanity reasons. It’s so bloody annoying.

Took my first injection this morning. Mild nausea this morning but went after a couple of hours. Already noticing less interest in food and alcohol, feels weird, but exciting. And less negative food self-talk which makes me realise how constant and exhausting that has been. Cant believe these changes are so immediate... just hope it shows on the scales!

6.15am? Madness @SerenePeer but enjoy. I am going to swing by the local Pilates studio on my walk tomorrow to get some info.

Mr Pumpkin wants to know if the DH Stable Training Block has central heating and will there be a games room.
