November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Ooh tell us more about the bag! Salad sounds delish. Good luck at reformer Pilates. My Pvolve today was on the glider plates - which has a similar effect to the sliding carriages on the reformer machines. Suspect my inner thighs will be complaining in the morning…!

Oh it’s been a long time since my inner thighs had anything to complain about. 🤣

Penguinmouse · 26/02/2025 07:06

Back from my holiday and really pleased to see I’m down about half a stone. Lots of walking really helped! I’ve now gone under 100kg (by about 0.3) and whilst there is still work to do and a way to go, that feels like a real milestone for me.

Whattodowithaminute · 26/02/2025 07:19

@Mounjaropen did you go for the total transformation bundle on pvolve? What is the subscription cost after the 6 months included (I can’t see this on healf) Wonder whether it will give me a home option to complement the reformer classes

Hey itsnotagameshow I have good intentions but am pretty consistently derailed by a chaotic family life and hopelessly disorganised! At the start of this I planned to track, but nope! I aimed to focus on protein and all the macros (in the main anyway) again nope 🙈 I planned to be better at planning, but nope 🫣 I aimed to start a regular exercise routine too and I think you’ll guess the answer! 😂 I have no idea which week I’m on, or how much I lost week on week, after about week 4. Have fallen, pretty much by accident, into the eating when I’m hungry (which is generally less than before) and not when I don’t. Trying to drink more and probably failing to drink enough most days.

Overall it must involve a cal deficit to have lost anything and I think ah well, just keep going and as long as the DC aren’t in hospital (we’ve had a rough year) it’ll be ok and just take each day as it own :)

I had good losses at the start but has been quite haphazard since, like the rest of this gorgeous but utterly insane family I find myself in the midst of.

I could've written this! On the whole I eat less, don't gorb the sugary snacks like I used to and do try and eat better eg v healthy brek and lunch daily but on the whole family and work life is crazy busy and sleep deprived and I'm just glad I took the MJ plunge and am working it the best I can in current situ. Solidarity!

Jellybaby30 · 26/02/2025 07:41

Absolutely love reading all the posts though don't comment much. Started 1st Nov and 17kg down, have had diarrhoea on and off the last few weeks but had a v bad 2 days after apple pie on Sunday 🫣 have learned my lesson! On 6.75 and plan to continue on that for the next few weeks and move up to 7.5 when start to get hungrier. This group is simply AMAZING! THANKS everyone. 23 kg to go but know it's do able

I bought the total transformation bundle that included a 12 month subscription. The current monthly cost I think is £15pcm which is definitely value for money as I try and do 4 classes pw. I did price up the US cost of the bundle and asked healf to price match which they did. Worth emailing and asking them. I know a pp said they’d bought some equipment on vinted. Things included that I haven’t used much would be the foam rollers and massage balls but I do have a theragun at home which does the job. You’ll also need a cushioned mat (I did buy the Pvolve one this month as Healf sent me a £20off voucher)

overall, I’m really impressed so far in the difference it has made to my mobility and also muscle tone - my arms in particular were really flabby and even though I have about 1.5 stones still to lose, I’m at the point where I wouldn’t be panicked being asked to wear short sleeves. I’d recommend starting off with the introduction programme then the transform and sculpt in 20 and then the strength redefined programme - that way you get to understand the movement type and use the equipment properly. You’ll need enough space to use the mat comfortably ( including stepping wide off it) and space over your head to reach up ( so not ideal if you have low hanging lights!)

37lbs off is amazing! Well done you! There is a lot of stomach flu type bugs going around so it might be a coincidence. 🤞🏻Keep going!

I think being more aware of what you are eating is a huge step forward. This doesn’t have to be a perfect or text book journey, just whatever is right for you and your family right now.

eek missed around 10 pages!

Well after a 3 week stall, I’ve finally lost 10% of my body weight!! 🙌 Just 1lb to go to get under the next stone bracket.

Cantbesure · 26/02/2025 08:11

Oh god I did my gym session last night. Shocked at how weak I am. And could barely move the elevate machine. A good wake up call for me to see I need to build up strength.

I'm moving up to 7.5 tonight so a bit nervous about side effects. I'm round I've stuck to my diet despite getting pretty hungry on 5 but the loss has slowed down to about half a pound a week so need another push to accelerate myself towards a healthy bmi. I'm about halfway through the weight loss I need to be mid my healthy range so 3 more stone to go.

Weirdly my nsv have been the best bit I'm down from a size 18 to a large size 12. Need to work on increasing exercise but I'm always exhausted. Walking is my main exercise at the moment and it definitely saved me from piling on even more pounds but I need to get my heart pumping. I just don't have enough motivation or energy to do it.

I’m the same as you, next pen is 7.5. I’ve been looking at gym memberships as I really to do something apart from walking!

DarkForces · 26/02/2025 08:35

@IHateMozzies I'm terrified I'd be just wasting money on a gym as I can't imagine using it. It's a good idea though. I'm wondering if dance is the way to go. Just dancing with some light weights to my fave music for fun. It's something I love and would be free!

KentishMama · 26/02/2025 08:40

We have a Puregym near us and it’s a rolling contract (and cheap) so I’m leaning towards that.

Well done on the dress size! That’s amazing! Why don’t you aim to do some form of exercise ‘snack’ 3 x pw. Maybe a no equipment body workout? Plenty of resources available for free online. And then see where you go from there? It is hard to summon the energy, but once you start going, the endorphins will take over.

What form of exercise do you think you might enjoy? Youmight be better off paying for one or two high-quality classes per week not specifically at a gymthat you know you will enjoy rather than a gym membership where you might not be able to get booked into the classes that you want to attend easily.

I think the main advantage of pure gym is that they are open 24 hours? Ideal if you’re a shift worker.

@DarkForces brilliant on the clothes.

Scales are stubbornly stuck with my gain. I'm out again tonight but for a show so will likely have main meal at lunch and skip dinner.

Like some of you have been eyeing getting back to the gym, there's a pure gym next to work and not too far from home but the gym group is much closer to home so I might be more likely to use it.
There is a gym where I live but it always looks so busy and I feel really weird about working out around all my neighbours.

Cantbesure · 26/02/2025 09:19

@IHateMozzies @DarkForces I moved to 7.5mg yesterday and was nervous but no side effects other than a mini whoosh on the scales. My suppression has been stronger.

I was a pure gym member for a while and donating money to them every month 😂 I've now joined the local leisure centre gym as it has a pool, classes as well as a gym and I have friends who go so we can buddy up. One swim a week is the same as my membership so I'm hoping I will keep using jt.

Cantbesure · 26/02/2025 09:21

I can't edit posts on the app. I started 7.5mg last week. Not yesterday. Scales are showing just over 2lbs loss which is my biggest loss in a while.
