Is anyone getting mounjaro-related depression? I went back on last week and this weekend had a breakdown. Crying about having to decorate, crying about ex. I thought it was all just catching up with me as had the break up last year but my assistant said I have been noticeably happier since December when I came off. So now i'm wondering if the drugs gave me depression?!

I have struggled with this. Discussed with my Dr and we decided it was lack of dopamine from food, when the dopamine of weight loss had burned out!

I have had to find it elsewhere, my Dr recommended exercise, I started doing my reading for my master's 😂

But yes, I definitely suffer with this!

ThirdStorm · 27/01/2025 12:00

I've found I've felt quite flat. Not excited about anything (even things I should be excited about) and my anxiety (which I've had before) is a constant albeit at a low level. I think its the MJ. But agree with @Flapearedknave dopamine from food is missing too.

Choux · 27/01/2025 12:00

January is a miserable month anyway so your mood may not even be Mounjaro related.

This is also true! Only one more week to go ❤️

Getting paid today lifted my spirits 😆

Buffypaws · 27/01/2025 12:55

Hmm lol didn’t even think of the food dopamine. It just came on so suddenly. My period is due also. Could be all three… food for thought!

Mortigua · 28/01/2025 08:11

I’m still struggling to eat normally tbh. Anyone finding the same ? I am not interested in things I used to eat so I seem to resort to easy, plain foods . I could do with some inspiration or just some easy ideas to make sure I’m getting enough protein etc . I’m vegetarian which doesn’t help . I wonder about a meal service but I don’t think I could face the cooking bit !

KeepingUndercover · 28/01/2025 09:45

What sort of things did you eat before and what are you eating currently @Mortigua? Do you like beans/pulses for protein? Or tofu?

I'm still fine with most meals I used to eat before, as long as not too oily. I know some people say they find spice difficult, is that an issue for you?

Mortigua · 28/01/2025 09:50

Hi kleepingundercover , yes spice is hard for me too . Not because of side effects really but I just feel really sick about strong tastes . I would have eaten a lot of that before and also feel I’m really sensitive to the taste of any flavouring beyond very mild . So chilli , curry ,even very strong tomatoey taste is out. And just I think because I’m not thinking about food in an excited way it ends up being very basic so jacket potato and cheese for example . Before I’d have had salad or something with that . I got some ready meals to see if it would help and now have gone off the veg lasagnes I was into . I am having a lot of soup as it’s easy and quick. Just pretty sure I should be more varied

KeepingUndercover · 28/01/2025 10:14

Soup is good though, especially if you're making your own and add some beans/lentils to it. You could also get some miso and make soups with noodles and fresh veg in, some tofu for protein. I find something like ramen works really well if I'm feeling a bit queasy as the broth is very light and it doesn't take much cooking if you put some sugar snap peas, mange tout and pak choi in that just cook in the broth for a few minutes so they're nice and fresh and crunchy.

If chilli is out and tomatoes are iffy maybe a white bean stew would be good? Lots of recipes around, again quite light and fresh but lots of goodness in the beans.

I have done Gousto before when I'm feeling a bit uninspired by cooking but their veggie range does lean towards mexican/Indian style cooking so might not be what you're after.

I am struggling with drinking water and protein shakes too.

It's all a bit 'meh' at the moment.

KrankyKumquat · 28/01/2025 15:00

My digestion has been terrible since I've been on maintenance and not because I've eaten crap, 'cause I haven't. I've had a gripey tummy for a few weeks off and on, then got really bunged up and took a lactulose tablet for the first time a couple of days ago, but had awful Diarrhea ever since and lost another 2lbs I didn't want to!... It's really strange as I've always had a good stomach, rarely ever suffered with anything even when I was at highest dose or when I lived off alcohol and beige food! I thought halving dose might have helped but it hasn't. I'm not particularly concerned as it's not completely debilitating but it's a bit odd.

guestusername · 28/01/2025 16:15

I nipped into Matalan today as the jeans I was wearing felt a bit loose, like I’d been wearing them for a couple of days loose, even though I’d put them on fresh, so decided to buy a size down. I bought a nice top as well, got home and tried them on and they fit! Size 12! There wasn’t even a 4 in my age the last time I bought a 12! This is gonna cost a small fortune 😂 I will keep wearing my size 14’s until they are hanging off my very flat arse 😂 and wait until the spring/summer stuff is out before buying more stuff. Thankfully when I moved, I had the foresight to buy a second wardrobe so won’t have an issue with storage.

I did a couple of weeks on 2.5 mg and it was crap so I’m back up to 3.75 again for the time being. I won’t go up from that though. I really need to get into the mindset of dropping back down and then stopping but my mind really doesn’t want to go there at the mo 😒 I weighed in at the weekend at 11.3.5 and want to get to about 10.10 or so, to round my loss off at 4 stone, so plod on I shall

Thanks yes , ramen is a good idea and is the sort of thing I can cope with actually - it’s the thirst isn’t it!
I tried Stocked and like the idea but the flavours were all a bit strong , cumin in lots too and I can’t deal with it at the moment .

Yes , it’s like food leaves me cold . Which I know is rather the point but it does make it hard to find the motivation to get the right nutrients. Feels like there’s a balance to be had and I did better on the lower doses I think. Also not sure to what extent it’s mood , hormones and just being (nearly) a year in!

I disappeared for a bit, both from this thread and, if I'm honest, from an MJ focussed lifestyle. I've still been jabbing but letting the time between jabs slide and I have been using it as a magic wand. I have been allowing it to curb my overall food intake but not focussing on what that intake has consisted of so it's been largely carbs and saturated fat. Due to being on MJ, I haven't actually binged and nor have I eaten enough to gain weight but I haven't lost the Christmas couple of pounds which really should have come off quite easily and I am more bloated.
I am trying to treat this as a wake up call. If I can be like this when jabbing, what will I be like when I come off the jabs? Yesterday's supermarket shop featured lots of veg & protein, I have an outline menu plan for this week and plan on cracking on again. My BMI is 24.5 and I'd like to lose those Christmas plans plus another half stone.
I don't have any real interest in getting skinny or seeing how low I can go weight wise.
I did have my annual medical this week. Both the nurse who did all of the assessments and then the GP who I had some time with were really impressed and also very positive about the drug itself. It was really reassuring to see how good this has been for me on the inside. I was always surprised at how healthy I was before but, nonetheless, everything has got better. Blood pressure is down; blood sugar is significantly reduced; bad cholesterol (the only thing which was officially verging on too high) is significantly reduced; good cholesterol is reduced but still in the healthy range; my risk of diabetes and heart disease in the next decade were always below average but have halved. More out of interest than concern, they did some extra blood tests to look for liver and kidney function.
It made me realise how fortunate I am to be able to have afforded this for 9 months and be able to continue to afford this but that I need to make the most of this opportunity and crack on with cementing the healthy eating habits and not pick up a couple of pastries in Lidl because they are so cheap compared to anywhere else!
Fortunately, my body seems to be supporting me in this mission! When I started, the thought of alcohol, rich or spicy food repulsed me but I've increasingly been able to eat & drink that sort of thing. This meant I didn't really think about having a curry last night and then a glass of wine and some chocolates. The wind I had last night! I was awake for about two hours, writhing in agony!

Hi,
Do you know what they are looking for with the blood tests?

I've been called in to see the GP because my ferratin levels are too high. I take an electrolyte with mainly B vitamins - no iron which Google seems to suggest could be responsible but it isn't clear. I get a few hits too for high ferratin and rapid weight loss but again, not definitive.

I'm wondering if they will tell me to stop the mounjaro which is scaring me more than the idea there is something more ominous...

Google only returns info that MJ helps with high iron levels because it reduces inflammation.

Does anyone know anything?

Choux · 29/01/2025 08:43

No but I have been looking at at home blood tests as my hemaglobin is low ish and I want to test my ferritin.

Tests like this say not to take biotin for two days and b vitamins for two weeks prior to testing. Under the 'how to prepare for this test' section

I haven't posted for a while but wondering if I can pick your brains. I got to my goal weight but find now I have a reaction to even the lowest amount of MJ. 48 hours after I inject the sulphur burps start and then 24 hours of violent diarrhoea. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. I'm haven't taken any for just over a week as it's increasingly unmanageable especially at work-I'm a long way from a toilet...
The food noise is back with bells on and I hate it. I loved not thinking about food. I really don't want to put the weight back on.
Has anyone been in this position? I'm wondering if changing to Wegovy might be an option. I've emailed Oushk today to ask Hira for advice.

That's very strange but I posted yesterday about digestive issues for last month or so, at same time as reducing from 10 to 5mg (and nothing else changed). I hadn't really thought it might be directly due to MJ as dose getting smaller and I had no issues on higher dose. Did wonder if constipation meds might have triggered something, due to slower transit. Can't offer any advice but will be interesting to see what Hira thinks and suggests

Thanks Choux. Hopefully that's it. I wish they'd told me that after the first blood test I will probably have to wait some more - I've been keeping Dr Google very busy.

I went for a work lunch today and boy, the suppression was in full force! I had to bring the leftovers home and they are still in the fridge 😳

Am only on 3.75 too!

FlappyFish · 30/01/2025 09:12

It’s interesting the way the suppression works. I’m so much more aware of how it works. Can’t believe it has been nearly a year.

I continue my knee high boot addiction. After a lifetime of never being able to buy them I now have a beautiful shiny black patent leather pair. I know you’ve always been able to buy wider or stretchy ones. But hate me for it it you want. They look so much better on slim legs.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 30/01/2025 11:36

I'm booking an Easter wedding so I need to decide what to do about my jab. I've been up and down the same few pounds for weeks but can't quite make the 6st off mark.

I'm on around 6.5mg now, but should I go up and try to get a few more pounds off as I still look chunky on photos, or do I stay as I am and not risk being ill on a higher dose.

My dress is too big so I'll need to alter it anyway. It's such a pain that we can't choose where the weight comes off 😄. I'm worried it will come off my chest even more when I want it off my arms and stomach.

CiderJabs · 30/01/2025 11:57

@PissedOffNeighbour22 what's your bmi now ?
