@MrsNessaSmithy don't be too hard on yourself. Getting married is a once in a lifetime thing and should be enjoyed. I put 7lbs on on a two week holiday in summer (I dropped my dose from 10mg to 7.5mg while I was away and then ate less healthy foods) and it was gone 10 days after coming back.

Just get back on it and you will probably drop the pounds as fast as you did when you first started Mounjaro. You can probably be at your goal by early summer.

Wonkypictureframe · 24/01/2025 18:02

Ditto from me. I’ve put in 4lbs since stopping just sitting around my house straining every nerve not to eat. On holiday it would have been carnage.

Actually what I’ve just realised is despite the huge hunger I get some days, my interest in alchohol hasn’t come back. In the last fortnight I’ve had one glass, and that was champagne at an afternoon tea when everyone had one. I hadn’t even noticed. How weird this all is.

Flapearedknave · 24/01/2025 18:14

ThirdStorm · 24/01/2025 16:43

@Flapearedknave I've generally been a bit off alcohol since MJ but when I have drunk anything more than a glass its just too much and doesn't agree with me.

Looks like I may be the same now!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 24/01/2025 18:21

@imnottoofussed & @Femeia thank you :)

@Femeia it's crazy to think that we thought we looked ok at size 20 🫣. Looking back now and I was hideous. My DP still claims to have not noticed how fat I was and supposedly has no difference in attraction - apart from what he calls Mounj-arse-o because of the pancake bum we all seem to have developed 😂.

KeepingUndercover · 24/01/2025 18:27

That's a bit harsh on yourself @PissedOffNeighbour22! I don't think you (or anyone) looked hideous in the before photos.

Wonkypictureframe · 24/01/2025 18:43

No you don’t! But I can sympathise on the ‘people couldn’t tell I was fat’ front. I work mostly remotely and a couple of people who have only seen me from the chest up in recent months have asked me about my weight loss. I always immediately think ‘how can you tell?’ as I thought I looked thin if you couldn’t see my middle.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 24/01/2025 21:52

@KeepingUndercover I definitely don't look like I'm in my 30s there though 😄. It was a shock to realise I'd got so big as I really didn't see the truth until I saw that photo. I'd always just had a curvy figure, a bit overweight but it looked fine - until I had my kids and then I couldn't keep the weight down. I'm really short so I must have just looked like a barrel on legs.

Seems crazy to think I'm just a couple of pounds from being overweight again despite losing almost 6st, yet I look half the size I did a year ago.

I'm really struggling with sweet stuff again. I'm always hungry and want chocolate and crisps all the time. It's been hard to try to limit them. I've failed a lot!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 24/01/2025 22:02

@Wonkypictureframe 😄 I thought that too. Then I saw the multiple neck rolls and chins in the photo and realised that everyone knew I was fat except me.

chrispenrallt1 · 25/01/2025 08:13

I’m finding it difficult to see that I’m smaller now . This time last year I was 13 stone 10 height 5ft 3 and I’m approx 9 stone 2 now . I’m on holiday so can’t weight but you can bet your last fiver I’ll be on the scales the first morning I’m home . I too don’t want to have a drink much now . At Christmas I think I had 1 glass of Prosecco on the day and I was on pretend g and t for new year . I’m only having a small g and t here at night to keep my husband company and as for drinking in the day well I just don’t want to .
My ultimate goal is 8 stone 7 lb so I will be applying myself when I get home . I still won’t wear a bikini round the pool tho as my stomach is like a big ball of bread dough ! I will be doing some exercise for that ! I look far better with the clothes on !!
I think I will be on it for life albeit at a lower dose . I’ve not gone over 7.5 and I think I will have to be considering maintenance soon.
This thread and the original one back last year have been a great help to me.

Morning 🌞

I've been pretty rubbish and haven't kept up with the thread much. I suppose as I'm no longer playing the losing game I don't feel like I have much to report.

I picked up a pair of size 10 jeans in the next sale a few weeks ago. They actually fit! Also have a pair of size 10s from Primark also. So think I'm a 10 now. However, my obsession with buying jeans has got a bit much. I have waaayyyy too many pairs now. Might have to put away some of my size 16s. Oddly, the 16s still fit well. I think because I tend to buy stretch jeans and they never get too loose.

I also seem to not comprehend that I'm smaller. I can see parts of me look slim. My arms and my legs look slim, but my belly still looks huge to me. It is super odd. I wonder if my brain will catch up one day!

Weight wise I have been pretty much maintaing around 10st 13lbs /11st. I'm getting a bit worried about my hair as I've been shedding loads. It doesn't seem to want to stop. I don't think it can be helped really. Just hope it stops soon. I've been on all the supplements but have to say I've stopped the protein shakes/collagen drinks because I just got sick of drinking them. I need to restart drinking them really.

Good morning, glorious leader! 😁

Really sorry to hear about your hair. As you may note from my user name, I understand how awful hairloss can be (although it's genetic in my case). Hopefully things will slow down/stop for you soon.

All I can say in the meantime is that you will be a lot more conscious of it than anyone else. I am always amazed by how little most people actually look at others.

KeepingUndercover · 25/01/2025 10:26

I have been setting small targets in Nutracheck since I started, so I've got something achievable to aim for. Today I just set my final target, 65kg, just 8kg to lose. That'll give me a BMi around 24 and I'm happy with that. I'm pretty happy with how I look already to be honest. I don't have a driving desire to be very slim having never been slim. But I do want to get down to a healthy BMI just to experience it!

KeepingUndercover · 25/01/2025 10:27

@ObsidianTree I was worried that I was losing tons of hair for a while but it has stopped now and it just seems a normal amount. I did a lot of panicked googling and most of what I read suggested that when it's related to weight loss it will slow and resolve itself.

ThirdStorm · 25/01/2025 11:08

My hair shedding has finally slowed down. I’d like to think the collagen is helping. I’ve got lots of new growth which I think will be the biotin!

KrankyKumquat · 25/01/2025 11:29

This hair loss thing - I've seen pictures and it looks like small clumps, is that what we mean? Or just noticing a lot more individual hairs lying around, or stuck in the brush? Trying to decide if I'm starting to lose hair or just imagining it.

ThirdStorm · 25/01/2025 11:33

Every time I brushed my hair I had large handfuls of hair plus other hairs that would fall out when I touched my hair. Last night I brushed and maybe just 4-5 strands came out.

KeepingUndercover · 25/01/2025 11:41

I mostly noticed mine when washing it, what felt like loads would come out in my hands. My hairdresser advised me to brush my hair well before and clear the brush every day to judge whether it looked excessive or not. It's normal to lose up to 100 hairs a day. I think I may have been at the high end of normal, which was more than usual for me. It's definitely slowed down now though and my hair is looking pretty good. Thankfully I have thick hair so it hasn't been noticeable except to me and my hairdresser.

ObsidianTree · 25/01/2025 15:31

Thanks all 😊

@KrankyKumquat I've noticed when washing my hair. I can get what looks like clumps coming out. Not just stray strands. Also then when brushing my brush gets pretty full with hair. I think it's been happening for a few months now.

To be fair I have had lots of shedding like this from past diets. When I was on meal replacement shakes I lost a lot of hair. Then when I did keto I lost a lot of hair. It does grow back. This time I feel like I've been shedding for longer. Maybe because I've lost the most weight on MJ?

I think hair loss is normal when losing weight. I'm trying not to worry, but have to say I do panic a bit when I keeps coming out.

Reporting in!
Weight loss is starting to slow down and a short trip away led to putting on 4 pounds despite walking miles and having what I thought was some restraint!
I have about 2.5 stones to go now to get me to a bmi of 23. I have lost around 6 stones since April 2024.
I've now got a Vinted obsession and spend hours creating fantasy wardrobes in spreadsheets.
I am also doing all the skin treatments!
But have pancake arse Grin

thehousewiththesagegreensofa · 26/01/2025 10:01

I disappeared for a bit, both from this thread and, if I'm honest, from an MJ focussed lifestyle. I've still been jabbing but letting the time between jabs slide and I have been using it as a magic wand. I have been allowing it to curb my overall food intake but not focussing on what that intake has consisted of so it's been largely carbs and saturated fat. Due to being on MJ, I haven't actually binged and nor have I eaten enough to gain weight but I haven't lost the Christmas couple of pounds which really should have come off quite easily and I am more bloated.
I am trying to treat this as a wake up call. If I can be like this when jabbing, what will I be like when I come off the jabs? Yesterday's supermarket shop featured lots of veg & protein, I have an outline menu plan for this week and plan on cracking on again. My BMI is 24.5 and I'd like to lose those Christmas plans plus another half stone.
I don't have any real interest in getting skinny or seeing how low I can go weight wise.
I did have my annual medical this week. Both the nurse who did all of the assessments and then the GP who I had some time with were really impressed and also very positive about the drug itself. It was really reassuring to see how good this has been for me on the inside. I was always surprised at how healthy I was before but, nonetheless, everything has got better. Blood pressure is down; blood sugar is significantly reduced; bad cholesterol (the only thing which was officially verging on too high) is significantly reduced; good cholesterol is reduced but still in the healthy range; my risk of diabetes and heart disease in the next decade were always below average but have halved. More out of interest than concern, they did some extra blood tests to look for liver and kidney function.
It made me realise how fortunate I am to be able to have afforded this for 9 months and be able to continue to afford this but that I need to make the most of this opportunity and crack on with cementing the healthy eating habits and not pick up a couple of pastries in Lidl because they are so cheap compared to anywhere else!
Fortunately, my body seems to be supporting me in this mission! When I started, the thought of alcohol, rich or spicy food repulsed me but I've increasingly been able to eat & drink that sort of thing. This meant I didn't really think about having a curry last night and then a glass of wine and some chocolates. The wind I had last night! I was awake for about two hours, writhing in agony!

thehousewiththesagegreensofa · 26/01/2025 12:26

Sigh. I just went on the scales "properly" by which I mean I have linked them to my phone and got all the details rather than just the weight. My metabolic age has increased by a year. Obviously it will come down again but it shows how easy it can be to lose your way.

Choux · 26/01/2025 13:14

@thehousewiththesagegreensofa my Renpho scales are driving me nuts at the moment. I lose half a pound and my metabolic age is equal to my real age. The next day I weigh half a pound more and my metabolic age has gone up a year. I am trying to maintain my current weight so just accept that I am on the border of two metabolic years and it's relatively unimportant and I should focus on getting my fat percentages down by eating the right things and staying active (hard in January as I want to hibernate!)

Checking back in too.

My hair loss has also stopped. I can brush my hair without the brush looking like it’s gone through a class of 30. It’s also growing back.

@thehousewiththesagegreensofa good to see you. I think this is the thing with weight loss of any type. Or even maintenance. You can’t stop thinking about it. It makes me think of Mad Eye Moody in Harry Potter with his bark of “constant vigilance.”

Frankly it is exhausting. When you’re losing you’re chasing a target. In maintenance you’re trying to keep within a couple of pounds.

I have come to accept I was like this when I was overweight too. Can I have this? I shouldn’t? I want it! MJ stops that diatribe, but it is unrealistic to think we can ever feel free.

@Choux everything is flat. Other than my bones. They’re sticky outtie. 😂

Thebaldprimadonna · 27/01/2025 08:29

Peeved with MedEx (again) and I am going to have to cancel my order. Any suggestions on where I should jump? I am under 30 BMI and a little over a stone away from maintenance, so need to be supported with those.
