I never kept my pens in the fridge after first use, and didn't notice any lessening of effectiveness. I didn't use them beyond 30 days though - bonus dose took me just to the limit each time.

@Mortigua I wouldn't stress too much about the storage. Thinking about it on Nov I went on holiday to stay with family for two weeks. I kept my pen in my case the whole time and it had an expiry date of end of November. I was using it till mid December although probably not over 30 days since first use.

So expired pen and not in fridge but I still had suppression from it and had no issues.

Thank you that’s reassuring . Fingers crossed I will be starting over as something isn’t quite clicking for me and I feel like I was better on lower doses . I’ve lost weight but it’s sort of stuck for a while now

Phew another one not doing it ! i need to up the exercise and restrict calories back more I think . I’m not eating half what I used to but I think it’s the type of foods and my own attitude that need to change , about to start some psychologist sessions so that should help me hopefully

Hi all - not much to report here. Still slowly owing but about 1kg every 2 weeks. I’m now at 68kg - 60kg is my goal weight. I’m going 10mg every 10 days & get decent suppression. Currently using a 12.5mg pen and don’t feel I need that dose just yet. How are the maintainers doing?

KrankyKumquat · 21/01/2025 19:26

@AgathaMystery Well done Agatha, nearly there!

Not much to report here either - now down to 4mg, the last dose of a rather ancient 10mg pen. I keep reducing as still losing weight - BMI now under 21. Not sure if 1mg would make much difference but yesterday, I just wanted to hoover up carbs, so I did...and put on half a lb. So gonna go back to 5mg. Not sure why I've been so keen to reduce dose so much, maybe need to sit and enjoy the scenery for a while!

It's a blummin delicate balancing act. I think maybe a refresh of my meals would help as I tend to eat the same few things again and again as I know they're safe and palatable but I'm a bit bored I think and could do with reawakening my food enjoyment now I've got more appetite so that I don't default to beige food like I did yesterday (ham on crumpet for lunch and big baked potato with cheese for tea!).

It's a lot harder than I thought it would be tbh.

I’m still experiencing days where I am totally constantly ravenous. They are no fun. I could eat and eat on those days and it’s miserable to stop myself doing it. Even eating high protein healthy meals barely touches the sides. BUT I mostly succeed in stopping myself. Other days are more normal which helps balance it all out too.

Remind me what dose you're on now and dropped from?
I've halved in 5 weeks, maybe too quick.

Wonkypictureframe · 21/01/2025 20:35

No dose at all right now. Stopped at 10mg a month ago. Despite all the hunger and Christmas I’m only 2-4lbs up on my lowest weight and below my target weight.

I’m going to try month on, month off, on 2.5mg, starting next month.

KrankyKumquat · 21/01/2025 20:54

Wow, you've done really well then. Will be really interesting to see how 2.5 feels for you.

Wonkypictureframe · 21/01/2025 21:01

Yes, me too! I’m hoping it just takes the edge off the hunger as I’ve never experienced anything like this before. I worry the MJ has broken something in me!

This is what I experienced when I came off and tbh the affects of restarting haven’t been as successful so far but I think partly down to being on too high a dose . I am resorting to the beige because of feeling icky around food which is not great and then I feel tired , run down etc so going to drop down .
i think it’s a reported thing that it makes you more hungry when initially off it but wonder how long it lasts (I didn’t find out as went back on )

Wonkypictureframe · 21/01/2025 21:12

Thanks for the insight, @Mortigua . I am curious as I had very good suppression from the start even on 2.5mg but I know my body then got used to higher doses. I don’t want to go back to the me who couldn’t face food though.

Mortigua · 21/01/2025 21:24

Yes I get that totally . I feel like I wish I’d stayed on 2.5 in a way but not sure if it would do enough now. I’ve taken 10mg today and ended up needing to sleep this afternoon and freezing cold , really painful heartburn etc . I bet as things develop more ways of maintaining and managing long term will be found .

Wonkypictureframe · 21/01/2025 21:29

Yep. We need to hope! I also have a madly sweet tooth now which I really didn’t have before.

Buffypaws · 22/01/2025 09:15

Im going back on. I cannot stop eating. It’s horrendous. I don’t think the ravenousness
will stop until all the weight is back on.

ThirdStorm · 22/01/2025 09:22

I was ravenous at new year but I ate loads of sugar and I think that exacerbated over eating. I follow a fairly low carb and low sugar diet which is obviously something I need to continue post MJ. Sugar might be delicious but it’s evil. The sugar made me do it!! 🤣

Wonkypictureframe · 22/01/2025 09:45

I’m definitely determined to kill the sweet tooth. In my experience quitting sugar entirely is the best way to ‘go off’ sugar and I have two more Christmas chocolates left. So by the weekend I will be sugar free.

KrankyKumquat · 22/01/2025 10:12

I'm pleased to say that the horrible dizziness I experienced throughout the weight loss stage of using MJ has entirely cleared up since I started reducing dose. This is a big relief as, while not a serious side effect, it did add to the general meh feeling and I didn't relish the thought of it continuing long term. I don't think it's related to eating more as, apart from the odd bad day, I'm not really. And I've re-started OMAD 2-3 days a week, something I stopped for the last 8months as it didn't really work when struggling to get sufficient calories in. I'm hoping this is something that'll help with balancing calories over the week. I'm going to try to make things a bit more stable across a slightly longer 7day time scale rather than focusing on daily weight fluctuations - it'll hopefully give me a bit of leeway to let go a little at the end of the week. I'm very aware that alcohol and sugary treats are my potential Achilles heel so I'm really strict with a Sunday evening to Friday evening ban - for me, this feels like the only option.

ThirdStorm · 22/01/2025 13:54

I caught a segment about weight loss injections on ITVs breakfast news this morning. Most viewers felt the use of them shouldn't be celebrated and they had some women going on about its easy to make lifestyle changes. Nobody was listening to the guy taking WI saying its the jab that's helped him to make lifestyle changes and that the jab isn't just dissolving all his fat magically he has to weight train 3 times a week and eat healthy balanced meals. No wonder most of us choose to keep it a secret. I think its a blend of jealously and misinformation. Sad really. At least one of the presenters tried to intervene to ask with that logic was him using a nicotine patch to help him stop smoking was also wrong and cheating.

Interesting day at dentist the other day. I have him disease that I keep on top of by visiting the hygienist 4 times a year. Over the last 4 months I have been eating xylitol after all meals/before bed after seeing an interesting retired dentist on TikTok. The hygienist said my gums haven't been so good in ages and I put that down to the xylitol but thinking about it, it could be mounjaro- it reduces inflammation doesn't it? Nothing mentioned on google for that though. So my question is, anyone's dentist/hygienist said anything on recent visits after being on it for a good while?

ThirdStorm · 22/01/2025 20:37

Yes! @TryingToHelpBut I have/had gum disease and over the last year I’ve embarked on a better hygiene journey with my hygienist plus regular brushing and flossing. My dentist says I’ve almost reversed the damage. I’ve been on MJ since May! Maybe there is a connection or it’s just coincidental. I’ve overhauled my diet and eat far less sugar, I think that helps. Not heard of xylitol?

KrankyKumquat · 22/01/2025 20:42

I put on here a couple of months back - my dentist of 20 odd years said she'd never seen my mouth looking so good - no tartar, reduced gum recession and fewer signs of a sore, bitten tongue. I told her about MJ and she was fascinated and was going to look into it further, but she reckoned it was probably something to do with the mouth biome improving, plus reduced inflammation and, for some reason, stopping grinding teeth in my sleep.

Mortigua · 22/01/2025 20:47

Another one with gum disease , I haven’t been to the dentist since being on MJ (oops ) so will be interested to see if it’s changed anything .
i have felt horrendous all day , barely able to function and just not coped with work well. I just can’t feel like that so I won’t be taking a full 10 mg next week , I’m going to see if lower doses help more and allow me to move a bit

TryingToHelpBut · 22/01/2025 21:04

Thanks for the replies. That's very interesting isn't it- yet another potential benefit? For info xylitol is a natural sweetener that's been around for donkeys years - well known for reducing cavities and is in chewing gum. A little after meals/bed seems to help reduce plaque too.
I did like my little auto correct error of 'him disease' - I think I suffer from that as well 😀
