I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

I just started today. Hope I can join?

So far, the only encouragement i have is that injecting it wasn't bad at all (I was expecting to cry like a baby because of needle phobia..lol). Tiny needle. So for those who're afraid of the injecting part, take it from me - the apprehension is 99.99% worse than the actual deed. Feels like a tiny finger nail pinch, you almost don't feel it at all.

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:35

Hi @MounjaroHereICome - really relieved to hear the injection is not bad at all. I don't usually suffer from needle phobia but the thought if doing it to myself was causing me to have a few second thoughts about that!

Who are you getting yours from? I went with Oushk in the end - after looking at about a dozen suppliers.

OP posts:
MounjaroHereICome · 19/09/2024 14:41

@ShiftAMountain Yes it's bad enough getting injections from others, the thought of doing it myself made me feel dizzy and was one of the main reasons I put it off for so long. After researching, I was relieved to see the pen because I was expecting the standard syringe they use in hospitals - I'm not sure I could have done that myself.

I used Voy with a discount code someone sent me via pm here. Happy to send anyone my discount code so we can both get a discount (for your first order and my next order. No pressure). It worked out cheaper with the discount but without it, it's quite expensive so I won't be going with them if I can't get a discount for the next order.

MounjaroHereICome · 19/09/2024 14:45

If you dont mind my asking (and you don't have to answer), how much did you spend with Oushk and do they do discounts too? @ShiftAMountain I'll have to look again once I'm nearing the time for my new supply to see which one is best to go with.

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:48

Ask away Grin

I found a £10 discount voucher and so a 2.5mg pen and delivery came to £139. Apparently they do fairly regular offers (e.g. 10% off) and when comparing across the suppliers, their prices didn't go up by quite as much as some of them.

I also found this - which may be useful:

Ah thanks. I'll be using that list.m if necessary for the second order. I spent about £148.45 or so on Voy with the 35% (£80) discount on first order. Was about £228 or so without it and I wouldn't have gone with them.

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:55

Yeah it's wild how much the prices vary. Ashcroft seems the cheapest but I couldn't find quite as much comments online about them so didn't want to 'risk' it for my first order

OP posts:
MounjaroHereICome · 19/09/2024 14:59

Yes I agree. I was looking at the list and wouldn't want to go with the ones with little to no reviews on here even though they're the cheapest. Grin

HappyShortFuse · 19/09/2024 15:01

Me.
My first pen arrived today, and I plan to use it before bedtime tonight. I bought it from Med Express and felt reassured that they asked for a full-length picture and a copy of my ID.

My BMI is 43.4, height 5ft 3, weight currently 17st 7lbs. I'm almost 48 (F) and just had bloods done that show I am in the prediabetes category - so I have motivation to make lifestyle changes.

NoRealPersonInvolved · 19/09/2024 15:12

Hi - I've been seriously looking into starting and went as far as doing the questionnaire with Boots but backed out as I don't have a BMI of >30 so assumed they would just reject my application? Today I've had a health screening at the GP and my BMI came out as 29 and I expect they will tell me I have high cholesterol (it was almost 7 last time I had a test) - is that enough to get Mounjaro does anyone know?

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 15:17

I think so @NoRealPersonInvolved - from the gov website:

"Mounjaro is now authorised for adult patients with a BMI of 30kg/m² or more (obesity), as well as those with a BMI between 27-30kg/m² (overweight) who also have weight-related health problems such as prediabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart problems."

MHRA authorises diabetes drug Mounjaro (tirzepatide) for weight management and weight loss

For the first time in the UK, obese patients and people who are overweight with weight-related health problems could now have access to Mounjaro, currently used for Type 2 diabetes, to help manage their weight and support weight loss.

@NoRealPersonInvolved It has to be from 30bmi but with certain health conditions, I believe they start from 27bmi. You could try again and see if they'd accept - perhaps put a note explaining things on your application if there's a way to do that.

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 15:18

Hi @HappyShortFuse .

My BMI has just topped above 40 (!!!!) and I suspect if I am not prediabetic then I am on my way to being. I definately need to change for my future health and am really hoping this is a tool that can help me a bit.

Me too! I get my first 2.5mg injection pen on Monday.

Just been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, so I'm getting it through my doctor. I'm in the UAE and it's costing me the equivalent of GBP400 per month, which seems a lot more expensive than what you're paying in the UK! Fingers crossed I can claim it back on my medical insurance.

I'm 49, 5ft 6, 114kg (nearly 18 stone) and a 40.9 BMI.

Good luck everyone who's started or about to start, I look forward to seeing all our progress!

MounjaroHereICome · 19/09/2024 15:19

Ah sorry crossposted with OP. Must have been writing when the post was sent.

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 15:20

@holycow1 - for some reason it does seem to be cheaper here in the UK than I've seen anywhere else. Which is mind blowing to me because things tend to be a bit more expensive than elsewhere these days. Maybe it's the relative lack of private healthcare? Hopefully your insurance will cover it for you.

NoRealPersonInvolved · 19/09/2024 15:21

Thank you, I'll wait for the results of the test and then I'll have some proof if they need it - I know they contact the GP so they can back me up

Yes I really hope so! But when I think of what I will no longer be spending on takeaways and junk food, it might even itself out :) Regardless, it will be worth every penny if it works.

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 16:07

What are people hoping for?

I know, for me, I am 100% prepared to watch what I eat, to eat healthily and to do more exercise. I just need the pens to take away the hunger and quiet my mind which can tend towards obsessive about things, especially food and especially when I am trying to eat less.

I can do the rest of the work. I just need something to give my mind some peace while I do it.

I started mine on Tuesday, I was given this chart for pricing which is very helpful! Also have A med express code for £40 off if anyone would like to message me for it, as it also gets me £40 off which isn’t to be sniffed at!

MounjaroHereICome · 19/09/2024 16:28

Me too, OP. I can't wait for the appetite suppressant to kick in and food noise to diminish. I hate feeling hungry - I'll be much happier to have to remind myself to eat than to constantly feel like snacking (feeling peckish is my problem, not necessarily full on hunger).

FelicityBeedle · 19/09/2024 16:28

Oops that’s unreadably fuzzy, this one may work?

Can I join in too? I got my first pen this week but waiting until Tuesday to start when I am WFH in case of any side effects. I also ordered from MedExpress.

I'm also doing healthy eating and building up exercise alongside but the food cravings have always got to me in the past so fingers crossed this helps with that and let's me focus on improving my lifestyle.

MounjaroHereICome · 19/09/2024 17:07

I'll also like to say to check the providers who have issues with theirs arriving cold. Luckily, mine arrived cold with a wraparound icepack (even the box it came in was slightly cool to the touch) and I put it in the fridge immediately before taking it out to use. Having read some of the issues some people have with warm pens, I'm crossing out some providers for the future.

FelicityBeedle · 19/09/2024 18:47

Oh yeah my starting weight is
116.7kg
I always measure my current weight in kg and the weight I’ve lost in Lbs because it makes for a bigger number and makes me feel better
