Mounjaro - Late September Starters

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:27

I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

Hi all.

I had a party yesterday and drank and ate quite a bit. Today have been nonstop at loo!! Also weighed myself and scales tell me I've put on 5lbs in a day which can't be right 🤣

Really hoping I can get back on track for Wednesday's weigh in. Next dose on Tuesday evening.

Jabberwokie · 13/10/2024 19:47

Today, DH brought down from the loft bin liners full of size 16 clothes for me. I was really happy to see that I have quite a lot of nice things to wear when I lose another half a stone or so - and they don’t look dated. I haven’t tried anything on yet, as I think that might be quite depressing!

Bellyblueboy · 13/10/2024 19:57

I have three wardrobes full of clothes and I only wear about ten items in rotation because they are all that fit.

i pulled on a pair of jeans today that I haven’t worn in years and they fit perfectly🥳. 9lbs down🍾

they are still at the ‘larger’ end of my wardrobe but I don’t care! I am gradually adding more of my clothes into the wearable rotation.

TheCatterall · 13/10/2024 20:07

@Ozgirl75 fingers crossed your dads good health stands him in good stead when the results come back.

ShiftAMountain · 13/10/2024 20:13

@Jabberwokie - years of yo-yo dieting mean I have whole wardrobes of size 16, 18 and 20. In a few cases I have the exact same item in more than one size.

I have started to migrate out the too-big 20s and move in a few 18 items.

By the time I get below a size 16 (fingers crossed!) I shall really enjoy looking for new clothes, I think.

I’m on Week 3 Day 5 and the appetite suppression has been rather missing in action this week.

Im being mindful about what I eat and trying to be more active - although still fitting new bathroom and office floors so no gym yet as knackered from it. Trying to reinstall a toilet now.

Still quite ill now and started with tingling mouth and small blisters on the outline of my lower lip. Pharmacist suggested it and other symptoms could be the sign of a vitamin and mineral deficiency primarily B12. So off to drs for tests next week. I doubt it’s the injection as I’ve had the other associated symptoms for some time.

looking for recommendations for B12, D, magnesium and zinc. preferably gummies or drinks/powders as I can’t swallow the tablets that look like they are suppository size and the hard case ones - the coating makes me very nauseous. I’m such a special delicate little sausage. 🙄

5mg pen ordered. Will be using bonus bits and starting at 3.75 for week 5 depending on how week 4 goes.

Theredjellybean · 13/10/2024 20:17

@Ozgirl75 ..I hope your dad is ok.
I'm on day 6 of 3.75 mg dose and boy it's been so effective.
Full suppression and today I ate roast lunch and one glass of champagne...I ate about half what the others ate and no pudding and I feel so stuffed and actually quite sick still.
I've lost another 1.7 kgs so far this week
SW 76.4 kg
CW 68 kgs
GW....mmmm....maybe 64 ?
I didn't have huge amount to lose and have been really lucky and it's been effective from day 1.
I can't see me going up to 5 mg...
So for anyone who is on 2.5 mg and doing ok and is nervous about 5 mg...I ordered diabetic syringe and needles and drew out the dose that way.
A 5mg dose is 0.6 MLS...so 3.75 mg dose is 0.45 MLS.
It also means my 5mg pen will last longer than 4 weeks

Orangesandlemons77 · 13/10/2024 21:11

I'm not sure we are meant to use them past 30 days though?

I’m week 4 and going to 5mg tomorrow. It’s been a busy few days and I’ve not felt any benefits. Been starving whole time and managed to eat quite a bit. Forgot I was on it tbf. Hope the increase helps

I’m like you pp, I’ve almost forgotten I was on it too! I’m due to take the 5mg on Tuesday so it will be great to have some appetite suppression although the nausea and heartburn which I had in weeks 1-3 can stay away.

Snapespeare · 14/10/2024 07:32

Down 1.7 this week, so total lost for 3 weeks is 13.7lbs. I'm calling it a stone, it's near enough..
Appetite suppression nowhere near as good towards the end of last week, so currently feeling confident with going up to 5 after I try to squeeze the golden dose out of 2.5 on Saturday.

Headache, tired..

boxoftoads · 14/10/2024 08:20

I’m about to reorder.

Does anyone have a Medexpress code please?

I’ve PMd you @boxoftoads incase my message gets deleted.

Darkflames · 14/10/2024 08:44

I’m looking forward to my dose increase on Saturday , I don’t feel like 2.5mg is doing much for me anymore.

I have an MRI scan on Friday and the appointment letter asks if I’m over 127kg. I was over that a few weeks ago but thanks to Mounjaro I’m a few kgs under - still feel like I should wear my lightest clothes just incase their scales don’t match to mine!

So went back into my tracker to mark it off and under 'possible reasons for gain' there were loads of different factors but period wasn't one of them - clearly designed by a man!!

That's THE top reason (ime) for weight gain. Stupid that it's missed off.

Sorry to hear about your dad @Ozgirl75 , you must be so worried. Hoping for a good outcome for him x

I took a half dose on Saturday (1.25mg) for jab 3 and I feel normal for the first time in 2 weeks 😂
Definitely still feeling less food noise than pre-MJ, but I do occasionally feel hungry. BUT- I can eat a normal sized meal without suffering and I'm getting at least 1200 calories a day so generally feel much better! No desire for sweets or snacks.

However, I haven't lost any weight since last Monday, even though my calories have definitely been in a deficit. So I'm hoping for a loss at some point this week.

If it starts to wear off I'll up the dose slowly I think

FelicityBeedle · 14/10/2024 21:59

Had toast for breakfast at work today, a salad from the canteen for lunch but it was quite mayonnaise-y and spaghetti hoops on a slice of toast when I got home. Pretty bread heavy but no snacks so I’m still calling it a victory

Ozgirl75 · 15/10/2024 09:15

Thanks for your messages.

Back to the weight loss and I had a brilliant non scales moment this morning. For about 3 years I have not been able to wear my wedding ring as it’s too tight. My DH even bought me another ring because he knew I felt upset about it.
Anyway, I was idly sitting on the bed while my son read to me and I picked it up and tried it on and IT FITS. 😁☺️

peonym · 15/10/2024 10:04

Love a non scale victory @Ozgirl75 !!

I'm a bit down today. Official weigh day isn't until tomorrow but I step on scales every morning anyway (it's something I do whether I like it or not). I've seemingly put on 3lbs from one "bad" day on Saturday that wasn't even that bad. I know realistically I CANNOT have eaten enough to have gained 3lb of fat and that it's probably hormones and water weight but still frustrated. Going to try hard today so I can record an overall weekly loss tomorrow before week 4.

Is anyone else mildly disappointed by their results so far?

letshavetea · 15/10/2024 10:09

@peonym yes, me too. I’ve injected my 3rd jab on Sunday. Only two pounds down so far. I’ve joined the slow losers club thread!

Gingerela · 15/10/2024 10:31

I had my 3rd jab Sunday night and weigh in Monday morning.
Only 1lb off. I was a bit disappointed at first after such huge losses the first two weeks but I did suspect that a lot of that had been a combination of water loss and having COVID. But a loss is a loss and as long as I'm on a downward trend I'm happy. Side effects wise. Im still getting headaches the first few days after the jab and I'm definitely getting hungrier later in the week. But considering the results, I think it's worth it on balance.
