Mounjaro - Late September Starters

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:27

I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

@FelicityBeedle - did you inject on Tuesday?

How are you feeling?

Can I join in too? I got my first pen this week but waiting until Tuesday to start when I am WFH in case of any side effects. I also ordered from MedExpress.

SW 18st8
BMI 43.4

I'm also doing healthy eating and building up exercise alongside but the food cravings have always got to me in the past so fingers crossed this helps with that and let's me focus on improving my lifestyle.

Hi. Just wanted to say I started about the same as you, 18.6 starting weight. Tuesday just gone I took my bonus dose of 2.5 so 5 weeks in, and I'm now 17 stones, hoping to be 16 something when I weigh Monday. . Its hit and miss with the side effects to begin with, I had really quick appetite suppression and a little constipation on week 2.. I have no desire to snack or eat bad foods at all, its amazing..

Good luck, I say just crack on and inject today.. I personally couldn't wait to get started..

Londonmummy66 · 19/09/2024 19:13

My DD has asked me to get her MJ for her birthday. She is 22 and really struggling with her weight. (A size 22 as well). It really affecting her mental health as she gets horrible comments from strangers in the street. Does anyone know if there is an organisation that might support her whilst she takes it. She's had so many tests with the GP as she eats relatively little and exercises a lot (weights and proper cardio style swimming). Its so depressing for her as her sister eats like a horse and never puts weight on.

MounjaroHereICome · 19/09/2024 19:26

@Londonmummy66 That's horrible that strangers are commenting on her weight. Honestly! I can't imagine how she must feel...and at 22 too!

One of Voy's selling point is their coaching/support/guidance, which is why they're on the expensive side (but they offer discounts which make it roughly as cheap as any other. Happy to pm a code if you like but feel free to look at the discount thread for other poster's codes). You choose your personal coach.

I don't need that part of their service so I've not done anything in regards to it yet. I've not chosen my coach yet so i can't say how that side works. Perhaps you could try Voy or any other provider that offers that sort of service.

chickenpieandchips · 19/09/2024 19:55

Started Tuesday too. Had funny taste in mouth yesterday.
So think cravings have stopped but have just had a boots meal deal. Also didn't fancy my post lunch biscuits and whilst my tummy was rumbling for my meal deal I wasn't tempted to go for the treat stuff, I went for the healthy stuff. Also think I won't raid the cupboards when home.
The needle was absolutely fine but made DH do it, still not sure I will want to do it myself.
Just had a cyst out of my boob and that needle was 10x worse.
Slightly worried, uni open day tomorrow so hopefully no side effects come then. Will pack my supplies!

Wow that's amazing. Thank you for sharing as it's really given me a confidence boost. I think I will go for it tomorrow after work!

@Londonmummy66 that's awful for your DD. You sound like a lovely mum, I hope you are able to get some support for her. I'm also a size 22 but I'm 42 with kids so there is less pressure in a way. It sounds like she is doing all the right things and strangers commenting says a lot more about them than her.

Londonmummy66 · 19/09/2024 20:12

Thank you everyone - I've just signed her up to Voy so hopefully it will arrive in the next couple of days. As I'm paying I am insisting that she does the sessions with the coach so someone who knows what they are doing is keeping an eye on it. I really like that approach and I was lucky enough to get a referral code on the other thread.

Orangesandlemons77 · 19/09/2024 20:12

I'll join, I started Tuesday. I'm 47 and 100kg (around 16 stone I think) and 5ft 2. Which is the heaviest I have ever been. I'm on some meds which don't help (cause cravings) and I've put on several stone since around the covid lockdowns and over the last few years.

I'm with Voy, and have discovered that if you say you are going to cancel, they offer you £50 off your next order. I was going to cancel as otherwise they are quite expensive. But I'm not sure it is worth the hassle of changing now.

I've told my GP about starting as they had already put me on Metformin to possibly help with the weight gain, they have now taken me off that and said Mounjaro will likely be far more effective which was positive! And wished me all the best with it.

It seems it may be available on the NHS soon, hopefully so they said come back to them in future if struggling to afford it as maybe they will be able to prescribe it then. Which might be useful as might be needing it for a while!

Best wishes to everyone starting out too. I haven't had that many side effects so far except a bit of nausea, think I am noticing a change in terms of not craving things as much especially sweet things etc.

@ShiftAMountain
I didnt feel much of anything on Tuesday but Wednesday I wasn’t really hungry, had a miniature croissant for breakfast at ten and then there was a buffet at work and I ate more than I would have liked to but didn’t eat anything else rest of the day.
Today I’ve eaten a cheese toastie and some cucumber, nothing else and I’m not really hungry, just fancy a cuppa.
I've not had any side effects at all really

Just a heads up I think MNHQ have said all referral codes have to go in the mega thread not discussion threads

Happy to have helped. I hope she finds it worthwhile. It's truly a great step you both are taking and it's lovely that she has a supportive mum in her corner.Flowers

Me.
My first pen arrived today, and I plan to use it before bedtime tonight. I bought it from Med Express and felt reassured that they asked for a full-length picture and a copy of my ID.

My BMI is 43.4, height 5ft 3, weight currently 17st 7lbs. I'm almost 48 (F) and just had bloods done that show I am in the prediabetes category - so I have motivation to make lifestyle changes.

I ordered my first pen from medexpress today. £123.

did it take them long to confirm your prescription and ship the pen?

That sounds promising!

I have decided to take my first shot this evening. I've had quite an important thing at work crop up next Wed and I really could do with being able to focus on it, so am hoping any side effects worse over the weekend.

@Londonmummy66 - that sounds like it's been really rough for your daughter. As pp said, it's one thing dealing with the weight at 40+ (when, speaking for myself, I am far more confident to tell someone to sod off if they are rude) but your early 20s should be all about fun and you're often not world-worn enough to stand up for yourself.

I hope it goes really well for her.

the scales are down 1kg for me yesterday and now today as well (thought it might be wrong) I thin k that is about 2lb? Not sure. Started Tuesday. Aware it could be water loss oil first week but still- a change.

Felt a bit hungry this morning so had an apple.

Baconking · 20/09/2024 09:13

Hi Everyone,

I was meant to start last night but time got away from me so will be doing first injection this evening.
DH & I are doing it together.
I am 5ft 3 and weigh 12st 10.

I am mostly worried about side effects. I'm going to a friend's for dinner tonight, if I inject before I go I wonder how quickly any side effects might kick in! I think I won't drink any alcohol.

I am trying to find supplement/pro biotic info from somewhere other than tik tok as want to do all I can to reduce side effects. Does anyone have any good recommendations?

Sounds good so far!!

Did you fancy an apple or did you choose something healthy as you felt you should?
My willpower is terrible...

Orangesandlemons77 · 20/09/2024 09:17

I kind of fancied it to be honest, I'm usually after biscuits with my morning coffee as well. I have a big sweet tooth and one thing I'm noticing is that seems to have changed a bit, so far anyway.

I've been wondering this too. From what I've seen, multi vitamins, electrolytes, fibre (psyllium husk, to keep you regular), biotin (for hair) and collagen (for skin) are ones people have suggested.

I take a multi vit already so will keep with that but otherwise, I thought I'd hold off buying a load of stuff and see what happens in the the first few weeks.

If they were down 1kg yesterday and 1 kg today that's 2kg which is more like 4.5lbs.

It's a great start!

Hi everyone, inspired by you all I've stopped humming and ha-ing and waiting for my tier 3 NHS referral (checked in with my GP today and it's a years wait...) and ordered from med express (thank you for the code!) I'm 56, 17 and a half stone ish with high blood pressure and tired of trying on my own. I'll check in with my proper start weight when prescription arrives..

No, I mean the same 1kg! I just checked it again to see if it had been a fluctuation but it is still there. This will be a huge change for me if this does work. Feeling quite pleased.

ShiftAMountain · 20/09/2024 11:49

Ah. I see. Still, just over 2lbs is not to be sniffed at. If it keeps going it's over 100lbs a year.

I think it'll be a huge change for all of us, if it's as good as it seems to be for others. Here's hoping...

@Bellyblueboy I ordered Tuesday afternoon - was cleared later that day. They posted with RM on Wednesday and it arrived (perfectly packaged, ice still frozen) on Thursday.

I did the injection last night (easy peasy) and now just waiting to see if anything happens or I feel different (nothing yet).

Zanne7594 · 20/09/2024 12:52

I've just received my first dose. Im going to read all the instructions, weigh myself and take lots of measurements, so ive got a good starting point and can keep track of weight and inches lost over the next few months. Then im gonna give myself 1st injection. So excited and nervous in equal amounts. 😬
