I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

I've had the same problem as others. Supposed to get delivered today but missed Royal Mail so now getting delivered on Monday. I'm annoyed because I put on the delivery options to leave by our side door but maybe it needs signing for and that's why...? So looks like I'll be starting Monday!

I would also like to loose two stone by Christmas. Last Christmas I was the heaviest I've ever been, 15 stone (a stone heavier than I am now) and I was so miserable. I hate all the pictures (not that I'm in many) and it was my first Christmas as a family of four. I really want to enjoy Christmas this year with my two being 4 and 1, and not have my weight tainting every moment.

Welcome to the new joiners. Looking forward to doing this scary but exciting journey with you.

Snapespeare · 21/09/2024 21:33

Ordered yesterday, delivered today (med express) banged into my thigh 5 minutes ago, felt quite nervy/squeamish/sweaty just before, but it was simple. Barely felt a scratch... And now we wait.

I feel brave for doing it. :-) (not fond of needles, it's a teeny tiny one..) next week will be easier, now I think I know what I'm doing.

Hi, really interested to read this thread, I did my first jab on Thursday (2 days ago) and have not noticed any changes other than a weird taste in my mouth.

Felt nervous doing the first jab, but excited to see some results having struggled for years,

Starting at BMI 33 / 200lbs (always weighed in lbs since living in the US)

Hoping to get back to pre pregnancy weight of 160…but just getting a 10% loss but Xmas would be amazing! Fingers crossed. Not told anyone, including husband. I have been doing Peloton since April, but seem to eat back the calories, so hoping this will make the difference 🤞🏻

I also did my first jab on Thursday and my only side effect has also been a weird taste in my mouth.

MargaretElsie · 21/09/2024 22:04

Does anyone else feel really tired?

RandomID · 21/09/2024 22:39

Hello.

I took my first dose on Friday evening.

Stats: 5’8”, 26st, bmi 55.

Have felt as sick as a dog all of today. I’m always exhausted, so couldn’t comment on whether that’s related.

I usually swim three times a week, but may skip tomorrow if I’m still feeling sick.

45fatandtired · 22/09/2024 03:28

SilenceInside · 21/09/2024 20:35

@45fatandtired the liquid is completely clear so it can seem like there's nothing in the glass vial, but it's full. When you prime the needle (see the instructions) you should see a small amount of liquid come out of the needle.

Some of the expiry dates were extended to longer than they were originally dated on the pens. What's the lot number on the pen?

Thanks. Yes it is one of those batch number ? I got it to work eventually , wasted 2 needles though .
Still not happy re the date on meds for the price , but Thankyou for clarifying x

Mydoghealsmyheart · 22/09/2024 05:34

I had my first injection last Tuesday evening and was really encouraged that the following day saw me have very little interest in food, comfort eating, snacking etc. But this only lasted a day and since then I’m back to my old habits 😩
Am I being unrealistic about the effect so soon? It’s just that, from reading on here, a lot of people are having a positive effect very quickly and the effect is continuing. I’m just a bit sad and frustrated.

Snozzlemaid · 22/09/2024 06:38

Give it time @Mydoghealsmyheart
It's good you felt some effect with your first dose, albeit short lived.
With each jab it'll build up in your system.
Have faith in it, it will work.
Good luck all.

Cocoaone · 22/09/2024 07:25

I'm always surprised at the amount of people who do feel the effects on 2.5, given it's supposed to be a non-therapeutic dose. But agree that it must be disheartening @Mydoghealsmyheart
Hopefully your next one will last a bit longer, and you won't suffer side effects either

ShiftAMountain · 22/09/2024 10:28

Slept well last night but did have a little bit of heartburn - nothing too significant. Am sat here with this morning's coffee (and multi vit) but no desire for breakfast.

@Mydoghealsmyheart - looking at the half life graphs for this drug, there is still some of the first dose left in your system when you take the 2nd - so the next dose should be functionally a bit stronger - if you see what I mean? That continues each week, slowly building you up - and flattens out eventually which is when they recommend you go up to the next dosage pen. So you might find next week has a stronger impact on you?

I’ve just had some Greek yogurt and fruit for breakfast and I’m going to try to focus on food choices today rather than whether I can detect any change in appetite.

MargaretElsie · 22/09/2024 11:10

I know it’s largely water, and I know it’s better to do it weekly but I succumbed to the Step Of Sadness and weighed myself regardless….

4lb down! Since Thursday!

Massivemonstera · 22/09/2024 11:17

@Mydoghealsmyheart I sympathise. First jab on Friday and felt reduced appetite yesterday but hungry today! I'm being fairly diligent about tracking calories on MFP as I could easily overeat. The cost of this drug is motivating me to not waste this opportunity by stuffing my face! I've also just done my first run in months so definitely feeling more motivated. Hopefully the appetite suppression will kick in at some point.

Orangesandlemons77 · 22/09/2024 11:41

I've lost 2kg since last Tuesday. Also wondering if could be the 'water weight' thing or not. Have not done much exercise apart from a bit of walking. None today either looking at this rain!

I'm pondering over changing from Voy over to somewhere like MedExpress which might be a bit cheaper. Also thinking 9cost is an issue here) about ordering a higher dose pen and just staying on half a dose...could then use it over two months and halve the price. I'm not sure if meant to do that though.

ShiftAMountain · 22/09/2024 12:06

I don't think you can order a higher dose and just use half at a time - it all has to be used within 30 days of the first jab and stretching it out would take you over that I think?

OP posts:
Orangesandlemons77 · 22/09/2024 12:16

Yes that's right about the 30 days I just checked. Oh well.

ShiftAMountain · 22/09/2024 15:10

But don't forget you can get an extra dose out of pen - the 'bonus' fifth dose - which means the cost is not quite per month. You only need 10.5 pens per year (not 12). Not much, but does help sneak down the cost a little bit.

OP posts:
ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 22/09/2024 15:43

Where do you get the extra needles from for the extra dose? I think medexpress only send 4? Can you buy them anywhere?

RandomID · 22/09/2024 15:53

Google suggests these, and they seem cheap enough to order.

I self-inject b12, so I’d just extract from the vial and administer myself if I was going to do that.

Mounjaro - Late September Starters
FelicityBeedle · 22/09/2024 16:27

@RandomID
Where do you get the b12 from? I’ve been looking for my other half who struggles to get in at the GP

PAtothegruesometwosome · 22/09/2024 17:41

Hi everyone,

Hope I can join you all! I started on Friday afternoon and have lots to loose (approx 7 stone 🫣).

I was really anxious about side effects before I started but thankfully so far have only been more thirsty than normal and had a slight headache this morning that soon went.

I'm a big drinker and just not fancied it at all, which is very bizarre for me!

Hope everyone else is getting on okay.

AnnieMcFanny · 22/09/2024 17:43

Frizzfrazzled · 21/09/2024 21:50

I also did my first jab on Thursday and my only side effect has also been a weird taste in my mouth.

Is it a tingly metallic taste and sensation on the front 3rd of your tongue.

ShiftAMountain · 22/09/2024 17:45

I've got me some eggy burps going on here... 😱😩😂

ShiftAMountain · 22/09/2024 17:47

Hi @PAtothegruesometwosome - I think a few of us started on Friday - must be a common day to pick!

But won't that take it over the 30 day limit? Thanks
