Mounjaro - Late September Starters

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:27

I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

Well this doesn't bode well. Medexpress have emailed to say it's been dispatched and should be here today by 1pm. It's 2pm and the Royal Mail van has been and delivered to someone else in my road just now, but not to me. So chances of me getting the pen and it still being cold are slim to none at this point 😞
Has anyone else had similar?

Baconking · 21/09/2024 14:42

When did medexpress email?

Did you get an email directly from Royal mail?

Bellyblueboy · 21/09/2024 14:44

Agh - mine was dispatched by medexpress at 5pm on Friday. Just got an email to say I will get it by 1pm on Monday. Really hoped for next day delivery - but why did med express not just wait till Monday to post - they must have known it wouldn’t be delivered over the weekend

Cocoaone · 21/09/2024 14:51

Just had an email to say Monday delivery too @Bellyblueboy 🙄

I have read that some of the packaging some companies use keeps it cold enough for 72 hours, but not sure about Medexpress 🤞🏽

Cocoaone · 21/09/2024 15:07

I've emailed Medexpress to ask how I can tell if it's still safe to use. I know it's ok at room temp for 30 days but it's annoying that I'll have to use it straight away, I wanted to inject on either just before or at the weekend so potential peak symptom days don't coincide with my days in the office
And it's warm here, 23 degrees in my house. Hopefully Royal Mail storage places aren't too much warmer and risk hitting 30 degrees.!

Hi everyone 👋

Can i join please. I’ve taken my first dose this morning about 11.30. No side effects yet 😳
not sure if it’s psychological as can’t see it taking effect this quickly but i’ve had some chicken and half a sandwich and don’t want the other half.
start weight this morning is 27st 5.6lb so my first mini goal is to get into the next stone bracket. Would like 3 stone off for christmas but just gunna focus on smaller goals to start with as i’ve got a lot to lose.
how is everyone getting on?

I think you're right about the psychological effect. How are you feeling so far?

Bellyblueboy · 21/09/2024 16:15

I plan to take my first does on Thursday - but fourth dose would then be injected on 17th October so still within the 30 days of Friday thankfully

Cocoaone · 21/09/2024 16:23

Oh you're right Bellyblueboy. Maybe I'll do the same. Mental not to try and time the ordering better next time, so the same thing doesn't happen again!

Bunny2607 · 21/09/2024 16:29

Marble02031 · 21/09/2024 16:11

I’ve been absolutely fine until the last 20mins when i’ve gone abit light headed and dizzy! Its manageable though and I’ve definitely not eaten like i would normally do today

Difford · 21/09/2024 16:57

Did my first jab last night and was amazed by how painless it was! I've had to jab myself before when I had ivf and that was much worse.
Not had any bad side effects so far, just a bit of burping. Ive also been slightly light headed - but I think that might be because I've not eaten anywhere nearly as much as usual!

MonkeyPuddle · 21/09/2024 19:06

I had my first jab on Wednesday and whoa the effects have kicked in today. Made a mid morning breakfast wrap, was stuffed after eating it and I’ve just had a child sized portion of chicken curry and I am fit to bursting! Have definitely eaten much less than I would usually.

JustWalkingTheDogs · 21/09/2024 19:16

Did my first jab last night. Felt a bit 'odd' today but no side effects. Felt very strange about 2pm but the realised I'd only had a protein smoothie and a banana since I'd got up. I've had a healthy tea and feeling a little bit hungry now but don't want to dive into the snacks. All in all a good first day

JustWalkingTheDogs · 21/09/2024 19:21

What are everyone's goals for Christmas. It's 13 weeks to Christmas so I'd like to be 2 stone down. That would reduce my bmi by 5 which means I'm not far off the 'overweight' bracket

ShiftAMountain · 21/09/2024 19:43

Hey @JustWalkingTheDogs that matches my first day. Light lunch, chicken and salad for tea and am now a bit peckish, but am finding it easy enough to just not snack.

I'm interested in @MonkeyPuddle sayings the effects have really kicked in 3 days after they took their first dose. Make me curious what the next few days will be like.

I am trying really hard not to think aboiut Christmas or add pressure in terms of goals - but I think I'd be pretty disappointed if I hadn't lose at least 20lbs by then. However, I'll be glad for my first Christmas that doesn't totally and utterly derail me because I eat too much, too often and for too long.

i have not read all updates (pushed for time) but for the nervous new starters - so far, I am happily eating much much less and have had mild, very mild, nausea (it may not have been due to the injection either) and can face food but just automatically seem to not want rubbish. I also want super healthy food and things like crisps don’t appeal. It’s very weird, but I think I like it!
Good luck everyone, we can do it! X

FelicityBeedle · 21/09/2024 19:50

Day 5 (first jab Tuesday morning) and I think it’s wearing off a little? I’m definitely wanting tea tonight and I had two weetabix for breakfast, a tuna sandwich and a slice of cold pizza (couldn’t help it, another bad sign) for lunch which would have left me still full on Thursday. But I suppose this isn’t a therapeutic dose yet. I’m considering injecting every six days because of this.
In other news I played a sport on Friday night which I’ve been patchy at, hoping any loss will help my knees, I’m only 26 and they’re creaky which is definitely weight related

MargaretElsie · 21/09/2024 19:52

can you get advice via the pharmacy about dosing every six days, rather than 7?

Zippitydoodaa · 21/09/2024 20:18

I'm with Medexpress and they're very good at quickly answering any emails .

45fatandtired · 21/09/2024 20:21

Utterly pissed off , went to do my first injection and medication expires September 24,
So will be out of date by week 2 , also appears syringe is empty - can't see any liquid , am I being thick ?

Massivemonstera · 21/09/2024 20:24

@45fatandtired when you prime the syringe, can you see a bit of liquid coming out the end of the needle? I couldn't see anything in there until I did this.

SilenceInside · 21/09/2024 20:35

@45fatandtired the liquid is completely clear so it can seem like there's nothing in the glass vial, but it's full. When you prime the needle (see the instructions) you should see a small amount of liquid come out of the needle.

Some of the expiry dates were extended to longer than they were originally dated on the pens. What's the lot number on the pen?

SilenceInside · 21/09/2024 20:41

The following two batch numbers have an expiry date of Sept 24 but have been extended to Feb 25:

D720751

D720957

They're both 2.5mg pens.

That's from cpsc.org.uk/news/latest-cpsc-news/mounjaro-25-kwikpen-shelf-life-extension

Still keeping away from the snacks... Normally I'd be craving sweet stuff and things like crisps. I've sat through my dh eating a large bag of crisps tonight, I'd usually be eating with him then have a hot chocolate or sweets but it's been fairly easy to not reach for the snack draw. I'm not completely repulsed by the idea as some others have been, but I have a lot more will power. I'm hoping the longer it goes in the easier it will get.

Please can I join this thread? Ready to order once I figure out the best price ☺️

Bellybusting · 21/09/2024 20:54

Hi, really interested to read this thread, I did my first jab on Thursday (2 days ago) and have not noticed any changes other than a weird taste in my mouth.

Felt nervous doing the first jab, but excited to see some results having struggled for years,

Starting at BMI 33 / 200lbs (always weighed in lbs since living in the US)

Hoping to get back to pre pregnancy weight of 160…but just getting a 10% loss but Xmas would be amazing! Fingers crossed. Not told anyone, including husband. I have been doing Peloton since April, but seem to eat back the calories, so hoping this will make the difference 🤞🏻
