Joining 😊

Regarding your suggestion on the last thread that I make 10mg my maintenance dose, Obsidian, I think that's what I will do for now. I've overhauled my eating habits completely but don't feel ready to be thrown back int the no suppression zone just yet!

I've just ordered a 12.5mg from MedExpress as I had a £40 referral discount. Hopefully it isn't a short dated pen like the 15's seem to be at the minute as that'll be an issue and I'll be sending it back.

I've still got two discount coupons with Zava but they don't fill me with confidence anymore with the talk of warm and therefore ineffective pens. It's too much money to essentially throw down the drain. They need to get their act together.

ObsidianTree · 18/09/2024 08:53

@BlackFriYay that sounds like a good plan. I think if you start feeling like you are too suppressed and can't eat your maintenance calories, then look at lowering your dose again.

If you decide to look at maintenance with Oshik, I think their 10mg pens work out cheaper than zava and possibly med express with their 15% off maintenance plan and free delivery. That will be my plan. I think 10mg will be a good dose for me to use for maintenance .

Ignore this. Can't delete it!@0mg

Oh and the 12.5mg expire end of Nov. Hopefully you have enough time to use it!

Oh bugger, I was hoping for a 2025 date as per my 10mg pens, but not to worry.. I can just use that pen next and count clicks to a 10mg dose.

Thanks for the reminder about Oushk. I had a chat with them a month or so ago and they said they were gearing up to launch the maintenance plans, good to know it's now rolling out. I'll definitely be switching to them for maintenance 😊

Hope everybody is doing well! How are you getting on after your surgery? @MelissaLouRocks

ObsidianTree · 18/09/2024 09:10

@BlackFriYay Oshik charge £180 for 10mg. With 15% off for their maintenance plan, that's £153. Plus free postage... So a lot cheaper than med express and Zava. Both charge £189 for 10mg. Zava even with a voucher discount, still costs more.

10mg have April 25 expiry.

The only thing stopping me moving is that I want at least 1 more 15mg pen and Zava with voucher is cheaper for the higher doses than Oshik. Although, not sure I want to risk getting another pen that hasn't been refrigerated properly.

It's a tough one isn't it?

I don't like the thought of my Zava vouchers going to waste but at the same time you/I would be wasting a hell of a lot of money if we end up with an ineffective pen. They don't seem very responsive to queries either.

I was able to get through to somebody on the phone when I was debating whether to order a couple of weeks ago as I wanted to know what the wait times were like, do you think it's worth having a chat with them in advance of any order to get confirmation that it'll be chilled appropriately? Mind you, what they say and what they deliver can be two different things!

ObsidianTree · 18/09/2024 09:34

@BlackFriYay I might have to do that. I want the best price I can get for the 15mg pen so will try and get them confirm how they pack our orders.

I did email them again but I will probably be months with Oshik before I get a response to that question! Might even be next year!

Thanks for the new thread @ObsidianTree
Very pleased that my first post on the new thread is to say that, for the first time in over 20years, I got an 11 (by 0.2lbs!), and a 24 something bmi, on the scales this morning. Lots of targets still to achieve:
3lb to go till 50lb total loss, 7lb till 25% of body weight and 9lb till 4st down.
Nearly finished 2nd month of 7.5 and got a 10 in the fridge which I'll probably use next as loss is soooo slow now, which is very dangerous for me as old habits of reducing what I'm eating are beginning to creep in.
Struggling to decide when to stop, particularly as I'm still a M&S size 16, down from 20. To me, this still feels like a 'fat' size although I rationally know I'm a big frame at 5ft9 and size 8 feet. I can recognise I'm seeing and feeling more bone, particularly hips, wrists and shoulders, but the psychology of it all is quite testing. Guess I'll just have to see how another stone impacts on my self-image.
Just an aside for Medexpress users. I saw on reddit that someone had been instantly cut off by them this week when their bmi went below 23.5. No on-going support, titrating down, nothing, and now they're struggling to find another supplier.

ObsidianTree · 18/09/2024 10:46

@KrankyKumquat well done! Great work making the 11s and BMI 24 😊

I noticed about the med express cutting off BMI 23.5. They are very annoying with their goal post moving every 5 mins. No doubt they will change the rules again when people start leaving them!

Getting into the 11s is my mini goal! I'm sitting at a stubborn 12 st 1lb for a few weeks now! Will get there eventually

Fantastic work, @KrankyKumquat! That BMI of 24 feels like such a victory, doesn’t it? You have to celebrate a lot.

I’ve just hit BMI of 22 (high 22!) so my MedExpress days are over I assume. For now… I need to speak to Oushk now as clearly they are my only hope of maintenance. I have two more pens to hand so I want their £20 monthly offer more than more pens I think - hopefully that makes it more straightforward.

KrankyKumquat · 18/09/2024 10:52

@ObsidianTree
Yes, you probably don't remember, but we've been on a very closely matched downward trajectory for some time now - this pound to get below 12 has been a struggle for both of us so I'm sure it's coming for you too.

Yes I was thinking we were pretty much in line with our weight losses! So my 11s should come soon then 🤣

Random, but do you dictate into your phone rather than typing? Wondering if Oushk is pronounced as Oshik - I’ve been calling it Ouch 😂

KeepingUndercover · 18/09/2024 11:00

Congrats on hitting the 11s @KrankyKumquat that's brilliant news. Well done for keeping persevering even when it's slow.

CiderJabs · 18/09/2024 11:00

Hello new thread 😘

RunningAndSinging · 18/09/2024 11:01

Update after my 4mg dose on Monday evening - I had a really bad night of side effects over Tuesday night and into this morning. I am not going to buy any more Mounjaro. I may finish up this pen with 2.5mg doses. I then will take a break and may try again with Wegovy. Thanks for all the inspiration and support on my Mounjaro journey. And good luck to you all with your continuing losses and maintenance.

Today I am 6.2 kg or 13.7lb lighter than I was at the end of February when I started. I was always a slow loser and the breaks and lower dosing have not been helping recently but the journey hasn’t been for nothing. I am scared of what will happen when I stop though. Hopefully I will be able to continue with my healthy eating routines but I know it will be hard.

I agree stop mounjaro. It's weird that you are now having a reaction and can't to tolerate it anymore. I feel like I have read about this happening to others. I will do a search and see if I can find it. From what I remember reading, taking time off and then starting MJ again worked for that person. But let me see what I can find. It might have been Reddit I saw it.

OP posts:
ObsidianTree · 18/09/2024 11:29

@RunningAndSinging I did a search on Reddit and found this. Other people experience this also so you aren't alone.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Mounjaro/s/x4DlGPJK4a

From the sounds of it, Mounjaro hasn't really worked well for you anyway so it might not be terrible stopping the meds. Sounds like you are in that percentage bracket of people that it doesn't work for. Such a shame 😔

OP posts:
RunningAndSinging · 18/09/2024 11:30

Thank you - if you could link to the Reddit thread I would be really interested. It’s is strange. A good number of people start like this and then improve over time but I seem to have gone the other way.

edit - I see you have linked. I will go and look.

KeepingUndercover · 18/09/2024 11:41

Sorry to hear it's gone so badly @RunningAndSinging, but I think you're making the right decision to stop. It's absolutely no way to live.

RunningAndSinging · 18/09/2024 11:43

The Reddit is so interesting - lots of people just like me in there.

The annoying thing is it did work. I will post a picture of my weight chart for the last year. I reduced my Wegovy in October and stopped it just before Christmas. I started Mounjaro at the end of February and started having problems/taking breaks and lowering my dose in early July. I am just recently up to 3+ mg. You could label the graph with all those dates so easily. The periods from December to February and July- August are the scary parts.

ObsidianTree · 18/09/2024 11:50

@RunningAndSinging are you taking something for constipation etc? From reading on that Reddit it sounds like it could be gastric issues. So maybe increasing fibre might help? I think still take a break though. Let your body recover from whatever is causing the reactions. Maybe you can try again after a few months?

Also could it be pancreas or gallbladder issues? Is it worth trying to get Dr to get some tests done while you're off MJ?

OP posts:
BlackFriYay · 18/09/2024 12:32

Congratulations and well done KrankyKumquat! what an exciting milestone 😀

Very sorry to hear about how things have gone for you RunningAndSinging. I came across that Reddit thread a couple of weeks ago as I thought I might be going the same way at the time.

I had a near constant migraine for 2 weeks and felt so poorly and weak despite eating around 1350 cals. I skipped a dose as was reluctant to add anything else into my system.

When I did jab the week after once things had settled down I switched to injecting in my stomach (I'd been doing my 10mgs in my thighs every week) and bizarrely it helped and things levelled out.

I say bizarrely because in my prior experience I would always get the worst side effects injecting in my stomach, hence sticking to thighs. I assume you've done the whole switching injection site?

If I hadn't started to feel better then I'd be doing the same as you, you're doing the right thing taking a break.

ineedmoresleepnow · 18/09/2024 12:56

Well done everyone on fab progress.

The expiry dates is annoying when trying to decide what to order isn't it.
I have 1 15mg pen to start this week, but have found 12.5 quite full on in terms of suppression and tiredness this last month and so might count clicks to stay at this dose for now. Have just felt this last week more energy and enjoying meals rather than making myself eat. Should just squeek through it by the end of October.
But I need to order now if I want one more as it's been 6 weeks, and am not sure what to order, 15 and 12.5 both feel too high risk in terms of date if I want to use it to taper.

SW 13st 6
CW 10st 5.5

I've done 25 weeks and gone up after every pen.

My goal was originally 9.13 so still a bit to go but am sorta thinking I'd like to get to 9.7. However a bit conflicted as I also feel like I would like to stop the medication soon really, occasionally have irrational worries about long term effects. But also want to lose more! And so think if I order a 10mg for date to taper off I might regret not having access to higher pens.
Also have been buying from pharmacy online so need to check their bmi cutoff.
