Just checked my measurements now I've hit a healthy weight.

I've lost:
10.5 inches from my chest 😭😭
10 inches around my rib cage
9.5 inches from my waist
11 inches from my hips
12 inches from my belly fat pouch/CS overhang
5.5 inches from my thighs
3 inches from my bingo wings

Really wish I'd measured more areas like my neck and my wrists though

Amazing 😊 well done.

Well done @PissedOffNeighbour22 a reminder to me to check measurements now my weight loss is so bloody slow 😆

Feel so lucky to be on this journey with everyone. 18/25 pounds until my goal weight now. Can tell it will take me a full year at this rate but I'm already below my original goal so I can hardly complain!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 09/11/2024 12:33

Thanks everyone, I've dropped more this morning and I'm down to bmi 24.8. Haven't done anything differently 🤷🏻‍♀️.

@FlappyFish I was hoping not to have it altered as it's a sample dress so not really worth spending a fortune on alterations. Will have to see what it fits like close to when we book a last minute wedding. Our car died this morning and had to be towed so who knows how much that will cost 🙄

Omg @Wonkypictureframe 14in is amazing. Like others, I have no idea where my actual waist is so I was just measuring the middle fat roll.

I think now I'm down to a normal weight I may be brave enough to post a before and after photo when I can get DP to take one for me.

Well done on all the recent loses, I can't believe how well we're all doing, even with the stalls we all have.

Choux · 09/11/2024 12:43

Wow @PissedOffNeighbour22 and @Wonkypictureframe those are great results. You have both given your health such a boost!

In a related NSV I discovered earlier I can now take today's jeans (bought several years ago and consigned to the too small pile a few years ago) down to go to the loo without undoing the button and zip. I think I've only lost about 4 inches from my waist but perhaps have lost more off my hips?

NextPrimeMinister · 09/11/2024 18:32

I'm now at 9st 6lb which is a weight I've not seen for over 20 years. It's remarkable.

I had a little review of how long each stone has taken.

1st stone = 4 weeks
2nd stone = 8 weeks
3rd stone = 11 weeks
4th stone = 13 weeks

So certainly seeing a slow down despite going from 2.5 to 12.5 pens over that time.

Into my 5th stone now, but don't need the whole of it to get to goal of 9 stone.

Choux · 09/11/2024 21:17

Great loss @NextPrimeMinister. Do you think those times to lose a stone are accurate as I found mine were distorted by holidays. For example I went on an all inclusive and relaxed a bit. I came back 7lbs heavier. I lost it in about 10 days but the holiday and then losing it again meant 24 days without a loss compared to my pre holiday weight.

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 09/11/2024 21:26

I love reading these updates - congratulations on the inch losses! I really need to do my measurements - I haven't done them in a couple of months.
Still ticking along here. Still on 10mg as it's working well enough for me. I still get hungry, especially if I've been very active, but am happy enough to restrict what I eat regardless (so far!)
The gym is going well too! I am really beginning to love strength training. I used the gym in work and my colleagues that use it are so supportive and giving me all this advice to help me. I wish I'd started it sooner, but I just didn't have the energy until now.

Good point @Choux , the 11 and 13 week periods did have a weeks holiday and at least 1 work trip away.

In the 13 week period, (last stone) I didn't lose for a 4/5 weeks! That was a killer.

FlappyFish · 09/11/2024 23:56

I waited a bit too long to start exercise too @JanetSnakeholeMacklin. I think it was a combination of low energy and self-consciousness.

I now know why I went completely do-Lally food wise earlier in the week. It’s our favourite friend. Period. I started three days early today. I did look at my tracker, but thought it was too early for hormonal cravings.

I’m firmly into peri and have an HRT appointment in a couple of weeks.

My period’s have always messed up my weight loss as I used to bloat hugely. As I’ve now pretty much given up processed carbs I don’t get the water gain. It does go to show it really is all those blasted hormones whizzing round.

Yay, twinny! That's amazing news. I continue to stall but love that you haven't.

Thebaldprimadonna · 10/11/2024 08:34

I think that strength training and lower carbing is what I am missing to stop my stall. So bloody busy at the moment but I am going to put a plan together today and see if I can shift things a little. I am only just over a stone off a healthy weight, so it's achievable if I just focus 😬

Choux · 10/11/2024 08:46

I had a health check on Friday. I get it annually through work and they have all my results since 2019 so can see the trends.

Compared to last year I have lost a lot of weight but, as well as fat, I have also lost 3.6kg of lean weight. That's 8lb despite aiming for a lot of protein in my diet. So I really need to focus on strength training now which will require a bit more energy so I may need to tweak the carb intake up.

I was disappointed my cholesterol hadn't dropped more (the ratio was fine but the LDL still a bit high) but 12 months ago I was on Benecol drinks and took 2 a day for a week before the appointment. On Friday I was au naturel. I have also been eating a lot of protein yoghurts as well thinking the calcium would be good for my bones but maybe I would be better with chicken as a snack and calcium tablets so I don't eat full fat dairy.

Has anybody seen this article?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cz6jg6nw2zeo

For those who don't want to click, her death certificate, seen by the BBC, lists multiple organ failure, septic shock and pancreatitis as the immediate cause of death – but "the use of prescribed tirzepatide" is also recorded as a contributing factor.

She only had two injections and wasn't a long term user.

Are the media deliberately not mentioning other relevant information as this seems incredibly strange to me? How could it be?

Nurse's death linked to weight-loss drug Mounjaro approved on NHS

Susan McGowan from North Lanarkshire died two weeks after taking the drug tirzepatide, brand name Mounjaro.

NextPrimeMinister · 10/11/2024 09:59

@BlackFriYay

At this moment, I'm reading it like I did many of the Covid deaths, as in they died with Covid, not necessarily due to covid.

I'll be very interested to understand more of the actual cause of death, as I can't see what that is being attributed too. Also, what underlying conditions she may have had, and if there were any contradictions with other medications.

Very sad for the family, though.

But not unsurprisingly the DM reporting is it's usual unbalanced standard.

Have come back to edit, as you've used a BBC link, which I'd not seen before I'd posted!

It does say she was not on other medication, so I will be interested to follow this, and learn more.

Choux · 10/11/2024 10:40

Yes I saw that story. There is so much info not included presumably as it's her private medical history. It isn't reporting of an inquest into her death where more details become public.

We have no idea for example if she already had symptoms of pancreatitis prior to starting mounjaro or how long after the stomach pains started did she seek medical help. All medicines involve a risk even paracetamol. My take away from reading it is don't ignore any unusual symptoms or pain as things could be serious.

Moanranger · 10/11/2024 12:29

Happy Sunday, all!
At the moment I am going through my historic wardrobe of thin clothes to see what now fits. A few things are still tight at waist & a couple of side zip dresses won’t do up under the arms/ ribcage. I am thinking my weight has redistributed since I last wore these. I am still 6lbs off target, so when I get there, I will reassess.
What is so amazing (besides being able to wear some nice clothes) is I have complete confidence that I will get there. This is such a game-changer! I spent decades knowing what I “ought” to weigh, but not being able to achieve it. ( Was there briefly 2008-2010 after 5 months on Lighter Life, but crept up after).
A discussion on Oushk FB today question the cost-benefit of MJ, esp in relation to maintenance. ATM, I am spending so much less on food & drink there is no question I am re-cooping the cost of MJ. I cannot see maintenance being a lot different, although the challenge will be keeping to good habits while reducing MJ.

I'm a registrar and some doctors will write everything a patient has ever had in the "contributing factors" and others won't. There may well be other people who have died whilst taking tirzepitide but maybe their GP didn't feel it relevant. Some GPs would list high blood pressure, obesity, high cholesterol etc and another wouldn't bother and would think pancreatitis and septic shock is enough.

Oh, I'm in England and Wales but would expect Scotland to have similar rules.

1stTimeMummy2021 · 11/11/2024 09:11

Hi guys, I've been on mounjaro since 25th February, I did 4 weeks 2.5mg, 28 weeks 5mg and have now done 6 weeks on 7.5mg. The food noise had started to come back when taking the last 2 pens of 5mg so upped the dose but I'm now feeling like I'm not eating enough. I suffer badly from insomnia which isn't helping as sometimes I'm just too tired to eat but I'm considering going back down to 5mg. Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone else gone back down and carried on losing weight? The other option I'm considering is having the injection less often and seeing if this helps. I think I read you can take it every 10 days so could always try that. Has anyone else done this? Any advice much appreciated.

KeepingUndercover · 11/11/2024 10:18

I have basically stayed the same this week, just finished my 10mg pen and was going to do another 10 but I think it's probably time for me to move up so I've ordered 12.5. Really starting to feel the cost now so I went hunting for the best deal and used an IQ Doctor discount code to get the pen for £150. Basically £50 saving from Bolt who I was with. Hopefully they'll approve it ok.

@1stTimeMummy2021 I went back down when my side effects on one of the doses was too much. I've not done the longer time between doses though, that does mean you'll be using the pen for longer than the 30 days so it depends how you feel about that.

ThirdStorm · 11/11/2024 10:27

@1stTimeMummy2021 I'm at goal weight and still taking MJ and I've started to space out to 10 days which I plan to do for my last pen(s) < Not sure what my last pen is as I just ordered another as I'm not quite ready to stop yet! I keep my pens refrigerated after opening and I have used alcohol swabs on the opening so taking the pen past 30 days hasn't worried me. I feel the doses post 30 days have still been effective. But be warned 10 day spacing isn't recommended or in line with manufacturer guidelines.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 11/11/2024 10:45

@NextPrimeMinister it's strange to see how long it takes to lose as we get closer to the end isn't it. I've reviewed mine and the jumps in time length are huge now:

Stone 1 = 15 days
Stone 2 = 1 months
Stone 3 = 6 weeks
Stone 4 = 6 weeks (included my 40th birthday and a self catering holiday in the UK)
Stone 5 = 8 weeks
Stone 6 = 11 weeks and counting. Still need to lose about 3lb).

I'm trying not to get caught up in losing more and more weight. I wanted to get to 10st and I'm now 10st 0.6lb but am changing my goal to 9st 11lb as that will take me to a 6st loss. I just need to make sure I don't get tempted into another few pounds off, then down to the next half stone etc. I still have loads of flab that I can lose, but I don't think I could maintain a low weight for long so it's pointless me losing more weight really.

I'm due to start a new pen this week so maybe it's time to reduce my dose from 10mg to the 7.5mg I have left in the fridge. After that I can use my 10mg pens to go down to 5mg 🫣

Wonkypictureframe · 11/11/2024 10:59

I've lost pretty much nothing in the last month. I'm not too fussed in that I'm using up the stock I had before stopping and am very happy at my current weight (coincidentally it's my target weight from months ago), but interested I guess in that I'm still suppressed to an extent so presumably am now eating maintenance calories and needing help to do that. Sticking to this once I'm done with the jabs will be quite hard work I suspect. But I want to know if I can do it.

KeepingUndercover · 11/11/2024 11:01

IQ Doctor have accepted my order. Had to provide ID, photos and my last prescription but all sorted in about an hour so that's pretty good. Will see what delivery is like.

Scalessayeek · 11/11/2024 12:51

Hello

Was hoping to get some advice from those that had a chat with Hira. I have just possibly ordered my last pen but have a few in stock in my fridge. I won't be finishing until nearer May using the extra dose and all the pens I have.

Has anyone been transparent about using the 5th dose and having a stockpile? I am pretty sure I will need to stay on some form of maintenance eventually so don't want to burn any bridges!

Time4changeagain · 11/11/2024 13:13

@KeepingUndercover
I used IQ last month and got next day delivery. It states if you order before 4pm it will be next day delivery. If not you can ring up and ask for the delivery fee back. A friend did this as hers arrived two days after the order was placed so it worked out even cheaper for her 😁
