Great to hear from you @Pinkbendyman @Silvesterthecat. Sorry to hear the food noise came back so quickly but Christmas is also a very hard time. Great you can get a maintenance dose and am sure that is where I will be headed once I get to goal. Don’t think I will be able to do MJ free as so many times I have yo yoed back from losing 50lbs etc in the past. It is scary for me.
Hit 7 stone off yesterday and only 2lbs to 100 lbs off since May. A few stone to go maybe and then maintenance looms.
Hope you both get on okay…be good to see how it goes. Looking forward to hopefully 🤞 maintaining at some point soon but it seriously scare me. I can’t go back to achy hips and knees and am so glad your pain eased Silvester. Mine are like new knees but with nearly 2 sacks of spuds 🥔 in weight gone then am sure that’s why they were so bad.

Pinkbendyman · 22/01/2025 17:49

@CrystaltipsnoAlistair wow! 7 stone is amazing 🤩 you must be so proud of yourself!

Well done! Congratulations 🥳

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 22/01/2025 19:27

Thanks @Pinkbendyman its been a lot easier than I imagined but is taking a lot of time to get used to being a smaller size. Lots more water in my bath !
Hope you get on well with the swimming. Bet you look great in the new tankini. I’m also with you on the biscuits. Still love a cup of tea with biccies but can’t eat the whole pack any more 😔

ClonedSquare · 23/01/2025 08:03

Thank you for updating @Silvesterthecat . I'm sorry you're struggling with maintenance, I think it's a reality for most people that they will need a maintenance dose long term. The fact Mounjaro is so effective proves that overeating is a medical issue, and there's no shame in taking medication for a medical issue.

Congrats @CrystaltipsnoAlistair on seven stone! Such a huge achievement, you must feel like a new person completely!

I'm still plodding along on the journey. Down 6 stone now and my next mini goal is 100lbs down which is about a stone away and after that another half stone to meet the target I set when I started. I'm hoping to go beyond that target ultimately, but getting there will be so amazing.

Pinkbendyman · 23/01/2025 11:29

@ClonedSquare 6 stone is amazing! Well done!

Okay, I could do with a little advice here (regarding my plans to start swimming again)

It’s been years since I’ve been swimming (never brave enough to wear a swimming costume when I was obese)

So I’ve bought this (photo below) and it fits fine, although some ‘roly poly’ bits of fat on show, unless I also wear the top too.

So my question is should I initially wear all 3 pieces until I feel more comfortable and confident to just wear the bra top and shorts?

Starting Mounjaro May 2024!
Greentrilby · 08/02/2025 09:32

Checking in after a long absence. I’m struggling to be honest and really need to give myself a good talking to. I know it’s silly but I really want to hit a four stone weight loss but just keep bobbing along and can’t lose the last three pounds that would get me to my goal.

Over the last two months my weight has varied from 10.10 to 10.7 and I know that I should be happy with that - certainly this time last year I would have bitten your hand off to be at this weight, and I know that minor fluctuations are normal. Why can’t I just accept that I seem to have hit a new normal?
I’ve never gone above 5mg as I’ve been happy with my steady loss and don’t really want to increase my dose just to hit a milestone target that shouldn’t really matter to me.

Why am I being so negative? I now wear 12/14 clothes and have a BMI of 23/24. I’m healthier than I’ve ever been, I’m no longer pre-diabetic and my liver is in much better shape.
I’m just being ridiculous but writing this down has helped I think. Sorry for the offload!

QueenOfHiraeth · 08/02/2025 16:17

@Greentrilby Well done on where you are at! I think your goal of 4 stone is understandable but probably sounds better than the effort it will take and the final result!
Your weight, health, size and BMI sound perfect. Congrats!

PeachCrow · 08/02/2025 20:58

Hi @Greentrilby I am 2lb off my target 4 stone weight loss and it's taken me far longer to lose the previous 2lb than at any other point since I started MJ in May. I realised I had lost focus a little - nothing bad but I'm a daily weigher and a daily spreadsheeter which had slipped. A couple of extra snacks had crept in "I've lost nearly 4 stone, of course I can have a packet of crisps, another glass of wine" etc. I think I was also quite bored of what I was eating I'm not sure I want to have another omelette or feta salad ever again! So I've swapped out a lot of my go-to foods for something new but with similar protein/fibre/calories etc. sort of a kick start and it does seem to be working. I think my food boredom was allowing a small but v familiar 'deprived' feeling to creep in which MJ had got rid of and in turn this was leading to less mindful eating. And having not been at this new low weight for 10 years I really need to cement it not get complacent about it. Just my experience anyhow!

Are you my twin? I think you may have hit the nail on the head as I have been eating more bread. I’ve recently been able to tolerate drinking wine again so I guess that hasn’t helped either. I do keep a food diary but need to pay more attention to it. I’m going to knuckle down again and hit that target - and am going to copy some of your ideas. Together we can do this!

PeachCrow · 08/02/2025 22:21

Yep I've been the same with pasta! Hadn't eaten it for months. And I've gone from wine not crossing my mind to quite looking forward to a Friday night. On paper, all averaged out over a week it looks fine but I suspect there are some quite slippery slopes there. It's made me think that I should in fact probably be aiming for my target plus a buffer of maybe 3lb or so as realistically I will eat pasta and I will drink wine it just mustn't be too often!

We definitely can do this, I refuse to buckle at the final hurdle!!

Greentrilby · 08/02/2025 23:09

My jab day is tomorrow so I’m going to freeze my remaining bread. No wine left so that’s easy and it’s almost half term so I will be able to swim more. We’ve got this!!

ClonedSquare · 09/02/2025 15:56

Hi all. I'm definitely feeling similar to most of you, my habits have started to slide a bit now that I'm so long into this diet. I'm still losing 1-2lbs a week, but I've definitely had more ability to eat and the desire for "bad" food has snuck in. Mounjaro is still keeping me at a deficit, but I've definitely been using those calories on more junk food than before.

I think being on this journey so long, I've lost some of my enthusiasm for prepping the best kind of food and I'm back to lazy "what can I grab quickly" which ends up being snacks or carbs. I need to start being stricter with my meal planning and ensuring I have the easy food stuff available.

Snozzlemaid · 09/02/2025 16:23

I'm getting more bad habits now as well. I am wondering if I need to go up to 12.5 maybe.
I relaxed with it a bit over Christmas and it's been hard to get back into it. I feel a bit bored with it now, after being on it for so long. Weight loss has definitely slowed.
I think for me it's the colder weather as well. I just can't face salads and want more stodgy carby foods, whereas in the warmer weather I lived on chicken or fish and salad with very few carbs.
I've got a soup maker being delivered tomorrow so I'm hoping some nice home made soups will help get back on track.

Pinkbendyman · 09/02/2025 17:03

Another one here whose good habits around healthy eating have taken a slight nosedive and I really need to get back on track cos I’m off to Las Vegas in 2 weeks and can only imagine the amount of unhealthy food that’ll be on offer over there.

I’ve been tapering down, currently on 7.5mg but have just ordered a 10mg pen.

I’m making good progress at the gym though - 3 times a week plus swimming once a week now.

I genuinely think I’ll be on MJ forever lol

@Snozzlemaid yep, salads don't cut it for me in this cold weather either! Have fun with your soup maker!

QueenOfHiraeth · 09/02/2025 23:20

I'm glad it's not just me wibbling about and others are hitting the same obstacles. I don't like salad at the best of times but tolerate it in warmer weather. I'm sick to death of oven-baked chicken thighs and veg so need to find some new and inspiring recipes - any ideas appreciated!

Also need to find a way to stop DH eating everything in sight, I swear the man is hollow but it's so frustrating when I go to the fridge to get something healthy and it has gone (of course he never gains weight regardless)

I also need to get more activity in so I can either lose a bit more or eat a bit more as my recommended calories are quite low. I've not been able to exercise for a while due to a problem which is now resolving and I've been given the instructions "It's ok to try to move more but not so much you aggravate it" which is difficult to gauge

MrsNessaSmithy · 10/02/2025 08:30

Morning another one here in the same boat. I took a couple of months step back due to wedding / holiday of a lifetime etc and finding it hard to get back to the motivation pre wedding.
I never got above 10mg and lost 50lb am am now back up to 10mg and finally started losing again. Have ordered a 12.5 for next time as I feel so close to my ultimate goal weight but also so far as I have lost the urgency of having to get into a wedding dress and be photographed !
Am about to take another 10mg so hopefully will have some good suppression again this week,

For ages I have been saying that I need to exercise and have spectacularly failed to do any so need to reach and find some motivation for that as I know it will make me feel so much better. The grey cold weather is not helping at all.

Greentrilby · 10/02/2025 20:54

So by my counting there are seven of us in the same boat! We’ve all come too far to not achieve our goals and I’m feeling more positive knowing I’m not on my own with these thoughts.
my strategies are:
i eat loads of soup - it’s my go to for lunch and as there are lots of varieties I don’t get too bored. I have yoghurt and raspberries for pudding - Aldi’s frozen ones are really good.

I’ve cleared the house of biscuits and alcohol (well put it in the garage where it’s quite hard to reach) so it’s much more difficult for me to snack.
I’ve convinced myself that’s it’s ok so have wobbly thoughts but I don’t want a wobbly body much longer!
we can do this!

PeachCrow · 11/02/2025 16:00

One tactic I was using last year but which had lapsed was to make a big pot of something nice but healthy, keep it in the fridge and eat it over a few days. That way I could always jump on dinner hunger pangs with a few mins in the microwave rather than succumb to the 'it won't hurt just this once to eat that pizza'.

So with renewed vigour I made a pot of fish stew yesterday!

I'm also titrating down. Am at 5.5 from a max of 7.5 and have begun to notice I'm getting quite irritable. I wonder if that's a lessening of blood sugar control?

Snozzlemaid · 12/02/2025 13:34

Weigh in day for me and I've stayed the same now for 2 weeks. 😩
I've had ups and downs in between as I weigh every day but I use Wednesday as weigh in day each week.
I've had my 4th dose of 10mg this morning and think I definitely need to go up to 12.5 next week. I've got a couple of 10 pens in the fridge so I'll use the remainder of my last pen and a bit of a new pen to get to 12.5.
I need to start tracking my calories again too. I stopped some time ago as I thought I knew what I was doing after so many months but I need to get back to losing 1 or 2 lbs a week as I've got at least a couple more stone to go yet.
I was hoping to be at goal in 12 months but not sure I'll make it now.

QueenOfHiraeth · 12/02/2025 17:13

I find lunches hardest as they are not a "proper meal" and often I just pick bits out from the fridge which is fine except DH eats ludicrous amounts of ridiculous stuff so I often struggle to find what I want. I do make and love homemade soups but my favourites tend to be low in protein so not always ideal.
Breakfast is fine as I have 2 or 3 regular options that I rotate and evening meals are fine as I cook from scratch.

Greentrilby · 16/02/2025 10:30

Hiya everyone, can someone smarter than me create a new thread and link it to this one as we are nearing 1,000 posts. I’d really like to stick with my May 2024 buddies.

ChangeEmailAddress · 17/02/2025 12:03

Hi all, thought that I'd better check in before the new thread - I'll be changing user names too but will join the new one. I've had a couple of months 'off' so to speak. I had a horrid tummy upset late nov, early dec on 10mg and also started to lose hair. I've carried on taking mj, but dosing during dec after sickness did 3,4,5,6,6.25, 6.5, 6.75, 7, 7.5, 8, 9 and then should be back on 10 next week. I made an effort to increase calorie intake to try and slow down the weight loss, as I felt that my body needed a breather as such. I still lost 10lbs over that time period, bringing total loss to date to over 6 stones, which sounds insane. I'm ready to be back on it properly now, and should be easier in a way going forward as DH has his first pen sitting in the fridge ready to use. We're going to share a pen next time by ordering a 12.5 and splitting it, but his first order needed to go through health checks first.

So where to go from here? I had a LOT to lose, and still need to drop another 4.5 stones to go before I'm safely in the overweight BMI zone. It actually feels achievable, and I have no time scale, but I'm really looking forward to starting 'back at it' and will be around for a good while yet!

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 17/02/2025 13:41

Congratulations @ChangeEmailAddress thats a wonderful loss. You have done so well. It certainly does feel achievable like you say. It’s been 9 months I have been on and it has been so easy compared to dealing with the food noise when I have tried to lose weight unsuccessfully before.

QueenOfHiraeth · 17/02/2025 13:46
