@QueenOfHiraeth ah that’s so sad to hear.

It is sad. The NHS is a wonderful thing in many ways but it has provided for the public so well that a significant number now don't see it as their responsibility to look after their own health. I can't tell you how much time I wasted advising and signposting people how to improve their conditions with diet, exercise and non-medical interventions just for them to say "No, just give me a prescription"

Silvesterthecat · 16/12/2024 19:38

Just a little update! Yesterday I took my last dose :) I have gone very nicely below my target as I had kind of plucked a figure out of the blue, so I thought I’d continue until i felt happy. A few interesting stats :

I have been on MJ for 32 weeks and I have lost weight every single week bar one when I was on holiday. I feel I have learnt so much and should be able to maintain my weight now although I’d happy to gain a couple of pounds as i have lost more than I intended

I have used 6 pens but 2 were freebies thanks to referrals on here, and I would have had a third freebie as I reached a 3rd referral literally the day after VOY changed the boundaries! I have spent £443.10 over 6 months which is prob way less than I’d have spent on chocolate and takeaways!!!

I have lost 52.5lb (just short of 4 stone!) which is amazing over 6 months!! I might still loose another lb or so over the next week but I’m not aiming to. That works out £8 a pound

That is 31% of my starting weight!! I am now a size 10 and feel great. Although I’ve had constipation, nausea, vomiting a fair bit and I am always cold now so it will be lovely to be off it

But for now I can’t wait to eat my Christmas dinner, once the MJ is out of my system next Wednesday!!!

Thanks to everyone on here for the support and sharing your journeys

Greentrilby · 16/12/2024 20:41

@Silvesterthecat wow, that’s amazing, well done on your achievement. I’m delighted for you. Good luck with maintaining, I’m sure you will smash it.

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 24/12/2024 06:01

Congratulations @Silvesterthecat that is an amazing achievement. How amazing must you feel at a size 10 wow 🤩
I haven’t updated in a while as life got rather hectic.
I weighed in this morning at a 91lb loss since May.
Can’t quite believe I’m 6.5 stone lighter than the springtime. MJ has made this pretty easy as my inner food monster has been silenced.
I plan to take jab number 33 on Xmas night (bad timing) but there is no way I am going to take a chance on ruining this weight loss journey.
I feel like a different person already and my joints no longer ache like they used to.
Hope everyone looking forward to a lovely Christmas . Am so proud of everyone on here and thanks for the support.

ClonedSquare · 24/12/2024 21:31

Merry Christmas @CrystaltipsnoAlistair, and everyone else! 91lbs is absolutely amazing.

You've really put it into perspective for me- I'm nearly 6 stone lighter than I was to start with and that was unthinkable this time last year! Here's to another year of success!

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 25/12/2024 06:38

Merry Christmas everyone. Thank you @ClonedSquare . Losing six stone is amazing. How do you feel this Christmas- you must feel so different ? I feel really strange this Christmas 🎅🏼- feel like a different person. I would never have imagined that a medication could have made losing weight so much easier. I won’t be stuffing my face today but won’t miss it at all. Love to everyone on here. Have a lovely day.

MrsNessaSmithy · 25/12/2024 06:55

Merry Christmas all and here’s to the next year. Thank you for your support it’s been incredible and I am confident I will get to my goal. I am 50lb down since May.

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 25/12/2024 08:56

Oh wow 🤩 @MrsNessaSmithy thats fabulous!
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas 🎄 and we all have a happy healthier new year x

Greentrilby · 28/12/2024 09:17

Hiya everyone, catching up after the Christmas festivities.Hope you all had a good one.

@CrystaltipsnoAlistair @ClonedSquare @MrsNessaSmithy @Silvesterthecat superstar losers! You’ve all done amazingly well and the support we’ve given each other along the way has been so helpful and encouraging

I’ve put on two pounds over the last couple of weeks due to Xmas excess, lots of puddings that I usually avoid and having snacks in the house that I usually ban. I’m not worried though and know that I am now back into my normal routine and so the weight will drop off again soon.

I had a really good chat with my provider (Bolt) a couple of weeks ago about maintenance and feel confident for the future. They are happy to prescribe on an ad hoc basis for maintenance as long as I don’t go too long between orders. No monthly subscription needed and I felt their approach was sensible. So I’ll see how it goes but I’m not at the stage where I’m ready to stop taking altogether.

ClonedSquare · 29/12/2024 07:41

Congrats @MrsNessaSmithy, that's a great loss!

Merry Christmas and a happy new year @Greentrilby! 2lbs is nothing compared to your achievements this year, and it's great that they're giving our maintenance planning now!

I've managed to stay the same this week and not gain which is surprising! I went to a family Christmas event yesterday in a size 18 top (a fairly fitted one, and brand new so true to size not stretched!) which is a great feeling. I still have a lot to lose, but now I'm "can shop on the high street" fat which is a big boost! I'm a little over 2st away from my first "ultimate" goal (where I'd be happy to stop if Mounjaro stopped working) which is also a great feeling.

QueenOfHiraeth · 29/12/2024 17:26

I have gained half a kilo over the last week or two but am quite laid back about it as I know it will go.

Had a NSV yesterday - I saw a dress I liked online but only available in size 18 where, given the choice, I would still buy a 20. I ordered the 18, it arrived and it fits!! 😊

ChangeEmailAddress · 29/12/2024 19:42

Oh very well done everyone. It really is a life changer isn't it?

Greentrilby · 29/12/2024 22:26

Definitely a life changer! And it’s such a thrill wearing a smaller size.

MrsNessaSmithy · 30/12/2024 08:35

I am titrating back up after reducing dose for a few weeks due to wedding / honeymoon. I have enjoyed eating more food but with the knowledge that I can continue my MJ journey and finally get to my goal.
I have about a stone to go to get to my final goal but am also enjoying being a ‘normal’ size and feeling good about myself.
the New year will be about fitness for me as I have not been exercising and really want to tone up and improve my fitness now I have dropped most of the weight.

ClonedSquare · 30/12/2024 15:32

@MrsNessaSmithy Sounds like a good goal! And one I should probably follow too. I want to lose a little more weight before I start exercising in public. My goal for this year is to get back on track with my health try y eating.

I've definitely been slacking on it recently. Still eating a heck of a lot less and steadily losing each week, but what I've been eating has been easy to grab stuff from the cupboards rather than good food. I was on a roll with my multivitamins and using all my stomach space for protein rather than carbs rubbish before my holiday in October, I'd like to get back to that again.

QueenOfHiraeth · 31/12/2024 11:34

@MrsNessaSmithy @ClonedSquare Me too! I have drifted off the healthy eating while still doing ok and really need to get some muscle building exercise going in the New Year

ClonedSquare · 31/12/2024 16:38

Had my latest order from Asda put on hold while I submit new photos. Great timing! "Please take some highly unflattering photos to prove you're still fat on one of the biggest nights of the year when you're likely to be trying to feel your most fabulous!"

Luckily, I have no social life so wasn't actually planning on glamming up tonight. I guess it means at least I definitely have "start of 2025" progress pictures to compare to for next year.

Pinkbendyman · 01/01/2025 20:58

Happy New Year everyone and I hope you all enjoyed the festivities!

Just checking in to say it was one of the best Christmas’s I’ve had in a long while and I didn’t overindulge myself as much as I have done every Christmas for the past umpteen years.

Despite having lots of meals out, including alcohol, a delicious Christmas dinner plus the usual mince pies, chocolates and nuts, etc, I only put 3 pounds on and stayed within my maintenance ‘weight window’.

I’m back to meal planning, eating healthily (so glad all the Christmas cake has finally gone!) and am ready for the gym this week.

Here’s to a very happy and healthy 2025 for all us May MJers! 🤩

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 05/01/2025 20:30

Hope 2025 is good for us all.
Been a crazy Mounjaro year.
I would never have imagined being free of the inner voice telling me to raid the fridge and finish off the Christmas chocs. I actually managed to lose 3lbs over Christmas. Could not believe it.
Well done @Pinkbendyman sounds like your festive period similar to mine. Why was this medication not available in the 1990s ? Would have saved me a lot of heartache. Thank goodness 😅 it is here now.

Snipples · 07/01/2025 11:13

Hope you all had amazing Christmas's and New Years. Had a good one here. Just checking in to say that even with a bit of Christmas indulgence I'm still at the same weight and the maintenance seems to be working well. For anyone who's close to coming off the jabs I've kept it all off for two months now so signs are positive.

Wishing you all well x

QueenOfHiraeth · 07/01/2025 11:25

I'm pleased as I have had Christmas, New Year and a short break with friends who are real foodies but have only gained 1kg. In previous years that would have been half a stone and a huge weight of guilt, failure, etc.
I still have quite a lot to go though, another stone to be overweight rather than obese, so back on it now

ClonedSquare · 09/01/2025 08:46

Well done to everyone who didn't gain/barely gained! It's such a change isn't it! Even just the mental attitude of "well I'm doing well in general so a tiny gain or no loss isn't that bad" rather than a spiral and feeling like you've tortured yourself for nothing!

I'm down 2lbs again this week, so I'm 18lbs away from having lost 100lbs and 26lbs from my first "main goal". That goal seemed to utterly impossible when I started Mounjaro and I thought it was just so out of the realm of possibility that I assumed I would be fed up and happy to stop there. Whereas I still feel so positive about losing and my "main goal" just feels like a step on the way to even bigger things!

MrsNessaSmithy · 12/01/2025 08:56

@ClonedSquare thats amazing and yes its life changing to know that the goals that you have not been able to accomplish are now possible.

I must admit I have found it hard and need to up my dose. I was on almost 10 before the wedding and my MJ break.I took 5 last week and the supression is not there yet. Am cautious to increase my dose too quickly as had some side effects a few months ago. Will do 7 today and see how that feels and maybe do shorter interval next week to get back into losing territory. I

I am so close to my ultimate goal and want to get there.

Good news is I have been brisk walking every day and my hip and knee pain has disappeared completely.

Silvesterthecat · 21/01/2025 14:02

Another little update - I finished MJ Christmas full of good intentions of keeping the weight off having learnt my bodies food tolerance and what I can and can’t eat.
And lo and behold I’m a greedy pig who loves biscuits and chocolate and have put on 10lbs since. I’m trying so hard to eat small portions still but then the biscuits call me after dinner!!!
So I have relented and have arranged to go back on a maintenance 5mg dose for the foreseeable, which I was really pleased VOY were happy to do as I’ve been off it over they’re 2 week grace period and my BMI is under 25. I just dread the thought my weight would rocket back having tried so hard for the last 6 / 7 months

Pinkbendyman · 22/01/2025 11:17

@Silvesterthecat your honesty is much appreciated and I’m glad you’ve managed to get back on MJ. Do you think you’ll stay on a low dose permanently?

I’ve been tapering down since I reached my goal weight in November and have definitely noticed the return of the dreaded food noise - I ate waaay too many biscuits yesterday 😢

I seriously don’t think I can come off MJ completely in the long term although I’m working really hard exercise wise - minimum 10000 daily steps and the gym 3 or 4 times a week (cardio and weights)

I’ve just got myself a tankini too, not tried it on yet but if it fits, then I’m also starting swimming from Monday.

Hope everyone is doing well 🤞
