Glad to hear everyone is doing so well still. I am pretty much off the jabs now. I could have ordered a 0.5 then 0.25 but decided not to in the end and have been off for a couple of weeks now. I'm still losing (dropped 2lbs in the last week) so hopefully that's reassuring for anyone thinking of maintenance. I feel hungrier but am used to smaller portions now so feel full after a smaller meal so I think it's retrained my stomach about when it's full. Hopefully anyway! It's more likely still in my system - will let you know if I suddenly start gaining.

Pinkbendyman · 22/10/2024 13:24

@Snipples oh, well done! Are you the first official May Maintainer?!!

Just a gazillion questions to ask you, sorry…

Have you completely stopped using Mounjaro and is this your intention for the future?

Have you put an action plan in place in case (and I truly hope you don’t) put a couple of pounds back on?

I’m only 4 pounds away from my final goal weight so these sorts of things are on my mind a lot!

SilverHeels · 22/10/2024 13:55

Checking in. Exciting @Snipples is the 1st May maintainer. I hope to join you one day.

My update is that I didn’t weigh for 3 weeks and been away off partying and not paying any attention to calories etc etc but gained the grand total of 1lb. I am strict eyes down now as goal is only about 14lb away. I have been saying that for awhile but I guess I have viewed the last few weeks as a practice for maintenance and resetting my mindset.

hopefully my mini goal of being in the 10s will happen very soon.

Snipples · 22/10/2024 16:16

Yes so officially stopped now as had hit my goal and then hit lower goal of 7lbs below that so didn't feel it was worth it to have the last two jabs. I was originally aiming for 12stone and I'm 11st 5 now.

I'm only 5lbs off healthy BMI now and I reckon I can get there on my own. I never would have imagined being 11 stone before so the healthy BMI target always seemed completely unrealistic to me, but now it's within reach.

Anything around 11.7 to 11.10 is fine for me, I'm 5ft6 so I'm a size 12 in this range and wouldn't want to go smaller. I think long term I'm going to weigh weekly and if I feel like I'm creeping up I'll just keep an eye on calories/ portions until it corrects. I kind of think this is what naturally slim people have to do all the time anyway.

I feel like even though I'm much smaller than I was when I started I have lost sight of what size I am. When I pick up clothes I always grab a 14 thinking it will be small on me and now they're far too big (not all the time but more often than not). So that will take some time for my brain to catch up - really hope it stays off!

Snipples · 22/10/2024 16:18

@SilverHeels a 1lb gain in three weeks is a great result, especially if off plan! Well done.

Greentrilby · 22/10/2024 19:07

Well done @Snipples you are definitely our trail blazer when it comes to stopping MJ. I hope lots of other posters on this thread can soon join you. I’ve got a bit more to go but would like to stop by Xmas.

SilverHeels · 23/10/2024 06:42

I did it . My weight starts with a 10 !

SW March 24 200lb
started MJ 21st May 194lb
CW 152lb (10st 13) BMI 27
GW 140lb

I am a shorty and don’t really know what my goal weight is but it seems achievable. I have not had a weight starting with a 10 since 6th form it’s a great feeling.

I am still having a clothes crisis as I have dressed to hide my body for my whole adult life and don’t know how to dress ‘normally’. I have promised myself a session with a John Lewis stylist when I am at goal. It doesn’t help the fashions are so awful at the moment and all the clothes on the shops are shades of grey and sludge not very inspiring.

Greentrilby · 23/10/2024 09:31

@SilverHeels Congratulations! What an achievement! 10 something is a huge milestone and I hope you’ll be treating yourself today. New silver heels maybe?

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 23/10/2024 11:39

Wow @SilverHeels well done you 🤩
Amazing and so happy for you.
Am sure you will enjoy finding your fashion self and new clothes that you love wearing rather than cover ups.
I’m starting to enjoy my clothes again though I hate trying on countless pairs of jeans to find the ones that fit as I have no sense of what fits anymore. Problem of being slimmer but one I couldn’t imagine 6 months ago and am happy for.

ChangeEmailAddress · 23/10/2024 11:57

Oh wow, well done. It truly is a wonder drug. Enjoy your new life, but keep checking in here please to show us what life is like on 'the other side'.

Greentrilby · 23/10/2024 11:58

@CrystaltipsnoAlistair i know what you mean about jeans. I’ve worn the straight leg Grace jeans from Matalan for ages but now they feel baggy. I’ve heard good things about M&S Sienna jeans - anyone tried them?

Snipples · 23/10/2024 20:49

Amazing @SilverHeels - enjoy every minute of shopping for a new wardrobe. Starting with a 10 is incredible 🎉

letshavetea · 23/10/2024 20:59

@CrystaltipsnoAlistair - I wear the M and S Sienna jeans (even though they’re in a size 16 as I’m just starting my MJ journey.) They’re a great jean and I intend to rebuy them - hopefully in a size 12 as I go down in weight (fingers crossed). 🤞

Greentrilby · 23/10/2024 21:24

@letshavetea ah thank you, I think a trip to Marks is in order then to try them on!

Silvesterthecat · 24/10/2024 08:07

@Greentrilby the M&S magic jeans are a lovely shape and fit, I’d recommend them. And I’ve just bought some of their ivy thermal jeans (as I’ve been feeling the cold now!) and they are gorgeous , so much warmer and a thicker weave but you’d never know from looking at them

Greentrilby · 24/10/2024 08:24

A@Silvesterthecat magic jeans added to the list, thankyou.

Greentrilby · 27/10/2024 09:49

So here’s an update on my expedition to buy new jeans. I spent over an hour in M&S trying on virtually every pair in the shop. I discounted the skinny ones as I think they make me look like a parsnip, and also discounted the wide legged ones as I have a fear of getting my foot stuck in them and tripping over.

I finally settled on the Sienna Magic which I love. They are straight legged but don’t have any bagginess around my bum, are lovely and stretchy so move when I do and don’t dig in anywhere. I’m just thrilled to bits that I now actually own a pair of jeans that fit.

letshavetea · 27/10/2024 09:55

@Greentrilby they’re fab aren’t they? I can predict that you’ll be back for more in different colours.

Pinkbendyman · 27/10/2024 09:56

@Greentrilby a parsnip!!! Love it!

I’ve not got any jeans that fit me at all now so I’m also going to be looking at the M&S ones too 🤞

Greentrilby · 27/10/2024 10:01

@letshavetea yes, thanks for the recommendation, I’m already eyeing up the black ones.

@Pinkbendyman definitely try the sienna magic!

best jeans I’ve ever owned.

ChangeEmailAddress · 30/10/2024 12:19

Well I've just hit my 6 month anniversary and am 62lbs down which seems an insane loss and I still don't quite believe it. I still have a very long way to go - need to do it again to hit the BMI of 25, but not aiming to go that low, to be honest I'd be happy to get into the 'overweight' BMI numbers. It's starting to get more noticeable now, and clothes sizes are dropping faster. I read somewhere (probably mn!!) that if you have a lot to lose it's like a kitchen roll - the first few sheets don't make a difference to the look of the roll, but once you're through the halfway point each sheet makes a noticeable difference. Good luck to all you kitchen rollers!

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 30/10/2024 20:39

Congratulations @ChangeEmailAddress that
is a fabulous loss. I’m the same as in I have been on this journey 5 1/2 months and expect to be on it at least another 4 or 5. I feel really hopeful I can get my weight down but the bigger worry is maintaining. At least there are now maintenance plans available which were not on the horizon at the start of the year.

You are so right about the kitchen roll. I’m staring at a smaller version in the mirror now whereas for first few stone I didn’t look a lot different.

ClonedSquare · 31/10/2024 04:15

Congrats @ChangeEmailAddress, that's such a great achievement! Glad to hear it's becoming more visible now, the early months are so disheartening when it feels like the change either isn't visible or I must have looked worse than I thought!

I'm about a week behind but a similar loss and aiming for a similar goal. My main goal gives me a BMI of 35 and then I'd hopefully get to around 30 if the medication is still effective at that point. If I lost more then great, but I think it's balancing cost/loose skin/rate of loss at that point as I imagine the losses slow quite a lot at lower weights.

Greentrilby · 01/11/2024 09:08

@ChangeEmailAddress wow, well done you! I totally get what you mean about the kitchen roll analogy and a 62lb weight loss must look fabulous.

@CrystaltipsnoAlistair looking in the mirror and liking what you see is such a new feeling isn’t it. Even though you aren’t at your goal, it’s such a thrill to see a smaller person in the mirror.

@ClonedSquare i think you are spot on re the balance between cost/loose skin/loss rate. I’ve slowed right down and am losing a pound a week, hoping to get to my new goal weigh by Christmas, but food noise is increasing and I’ve started to have the odd glass of cava and bowl of crisps during the evening.

it’s beginning to hit home that MJ is a wonder drug that has given me so many health benefits, not just weight loss, but I really believe I will need to be on it forever to maintain a healthy weight and prevent weight gain. Sobering thought.

ClonedSquare · 01/11/2024 10:33

@Greentrilby I imagine I will be on it forever as well, costs permitting! Hopefully will be able to taper back down to a very small dose. I think having the lack of food noise is the most important thing for me when thinking about maintaining, and it's clear I need Mounjaro for that.

Had a victory today- officially 20% of my body weight lost! My next goal is 5 stone loss which is 6lbs away and hopefully achievable by the end of the month but I'm so pleased with my progress that I won't kick myself if I don't make it. This is the most positive and relaxed I've ever been dieting!
