Starting a new thread as requested.
Hope we can carry on the chat here.
Welcome everybody from May 2024, please check in and remind each other how we are all doing

Thanks @QueenOfHiraeth for new thread.
Hope everyone doing well after 9 months or so on MJ. Been a while but so worth it.

QueenOfHiraeth · 17/02/2025 13:52

SW: 17stone 7lb
CW: 13 stone 5lb
I'm still in that funny state of feeling the same as I always did then, every now and again, something crops up or I'll see myself from a different angle and I'm really surprised by feeling thinner or better in a weird way

OP posts:
Snozzlemaid · 17/02/2025 16:58

Thanks for the new thread.
To update my stats:
SW 18st 6lbs
CW 12st 9lbs.
BMI is currently 30.2. So tantalising close to only being 'overweight'.

Not going to be too good a week for me as it's my birthday tomorrow and we're away for a few days, so will eat out lots. Had a carvery with dm yesterday too. But was good and only had one potato and lots of veg.

Greentrilby · 17/02/2025 19:02

@QueenOfHiraeth ah thanks for sorting a new thread! and well done on the weight loss. You too @Snozzlemaid And happy birthday for tomorrow 🎉
here are my stats
SW 14st 4lbs
CW 10st 6lbs
Im two pounds off my goal weight! Had a wobble a couple of weeks ago but have got back on track and am determined to hit my target.

ClonedSquare · 17/02/2025 20:15

👋🏻 checking in for the new thread.

I've really fallen off the wagon recently, I think 12.5mg isn't working as well for me anymore. Apprehensive to go up to 15mg as aware there's nowhere to go after that. I've not lost anything for the past two weeks, still hovering around 6 stone loss. Was hoping to be at 15 stone by my birthday in May but looking unlikely to hit that now. Will keep persevering though, although I feel I'll have to go back to more traditional dieting methods and feeling some deprivation which I've become unaccustomed to on Mounjaro!

Pinkbendyman · 18/02/2025 10:30

@QueenOfHiraeth thank you for the new thread

@ClonedSquare I went all the way up to 15mg and really felt like 12.5mg wasn’t as effective but this could be because the losses were really slowing down as I’d lost about 3.5 stone by then.

I went back to meal planning and more conscientious eating habits as I’d also noticed that more carbs and sugar had crept back in.

Pinkbendyman · 18/02/2025 14:28

To add, I had my online maintenance meeting with Oushk yesterday and I’m going onto the tapering plan for the next 3 months (well, once I’ve finished the 7 doses I still have from existing pens)

I’ve been tapering down from 15mg since November and am currently on 7.5mg. Then down to 5mg for at least 2 months.

Wonder what the food noise will be like? 🤔

Newbie8918 · 18/02/2025 14:33

Looking to start in the next week or so. I don’t want to hijack this thread. I have some qs about side effects, any learns from veterans and qs about the occasional drink (planned events like hen parties where it’s hard to avoid). Can anyone advise the best thread to ask these kinds of questions?

Pinkbendyman · 18/02/2025 17:05

@Newbie8918 no problem!

The first link is for the initial Mounjaro users that they set up in February 24. The first post contains detailed information on using MJ. Veterans and new users alike are on here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5264084-continuing-mounjaro-part-24

I’ve not read this thread but it’s possibly one of the newest ones for people just starting out (great for info about side-effects, how to inject, etc):

Good luck!

Newbie8918 · 18/02/2025 17:24

@Pinkbendyman thank you so much! Actually looking forward to it now!

peppercornrent · 19/02/2025 00:02

Hey look, everything is shiny and new! I'm still here, still 6 st down with another 4 to go 😁

I tapered down from 7.5 to 2.5 & have joined the Oushk ‘Conti’ plan - halfway through my second month on 2.5 now & I plan to stay on it for the foreseeable. What’s blowing my mind slightly (although I appreciate it may be different for others) is that there’s still almost zero food noise!

Pinkbendyman · 19/02/2025 23:08

@AelitaQueenofMars that’s really encouraging and 2.5mg pens with 15% discount (+ free P&P) must be quite cost effective too.

Are you still injecting every 7 days? I was told to try every 9 days to see what happens re appetite and food noise.

3wDavid · 20/02/2025 06:27

Oh hello! Can I jump in here please? I’m on one of the other threads but didn’t realize there was one for May 2024 starters!

I started end of May, so just about to hit my 9 month mark. And what 9 months it has been!

SW: 16 st 12.5 lbs / BMI 37
CW: 11 st 0.5 lbs / BMI 24
Total loss: (nearly) 6 stone

I’m still on 7.5 and have been for the last 3 months or so as it seems to work fine. Doesn’t give me any great suppression and rate of weight loss has slowed down significantly over the past 4 months or so, but that’s what I’m after.
My plan is to lose another few pounds and then start upping my calories, and start going down the doses again, until I eventually come off MJ around the summer time (June-July).

No, every 7 days still - with the bonus dose injecting every 9 would take the pen well over 30 days, so I’m erring on the side of caution there!

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 20/02/2025 10:27

Hi 👋 @3wDavid wondered how you were as chatted with you on thread a while back. Congratulations on your loss. 6 stone is amazing.
You must feel so different.
I’m a May 24 starter and last 9 months has been a whirlwind. I can’t believe how different I feel without my life revolving around food. I still have about another 2 stone to go having lost 7 1/2 stone.
It is so doable but the maintenance side is what I’ve always been rubbish at. Please let us know how you go.

3wDavid · 20/02/2025 11:32

Hey @CrystaltipsnoAlistair ! Good to see you again! :) You’re doing phenomenal too, well done!!! Maintenance is also very much a topic in my mind too - I know it will be tricky and…honestly, boring, but I shall keep everyone updated as I approach that milestone.
I feel very different, and I finally see that I look very different too! I posted side by side photos on another thread but don’t mind sharing them here too. One is from my submission photos to get MJ, and the other from this morning.
The wild thing to me is that I honestly didn’t see/couldn’t see how big and unhealthy I had gotten before!

Wow @3wDavid you look fabulous!!!!!
what a change. So glad you have done so well and what an inspiration.

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 20/02/2025 13:03

Have you guys found that the nearer goal you get the harder it is to lose ?. My weight loss has slowed to about half it was before when I was heavier. Know this is normal but it is tough.

I just trust in the process and keep plodding on. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but there are new challenges. My friend has told me now multiple times that I have lost enough and if I lose more I’ll be gaunt. Wanted to tell her to go sing but kept smiling and advised her I am still obese according to BMI on NHS app even though I have lost over 100lbs. So frustrating.

I am so happy for all us guys who have kept plodding on and succeeding since May.

3wDavid · 20/02/2025 13:47

@CrystaltipsnoAlistair 100%!

I used to lose about 2 lbs a week before, whereas in the last 3-4 months, it’s been 1 lb or less a week. It’s now pretty standard for me to lose about 3 lbs a month. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Greentrilby · 20/02/2025 14:17

I’m also losing about three pounds a month now. I’m trying to space out the jabs and cope with food noise but it’s not easy.

ClonedSquare · 20/02/2025 14:28

I've definitely found the weight loss is slowing even though I'm not that close to my goal (and probably still heavier than many people when they start taking it!). I seem to alternate between losing 2lbs a week and losing nothing!

Plodding along is definitely the right way to describe it! I’m finding the food noise and hunger are still gone if I keep busy, but when I have time to sit around then I cave and eat bad things. Still way less, but more than earlier in my journey. So it is fair my loss is slowing down but it’s frustrating!

Pinkbendyman · 20/02/2025 16:09

@3wDavid hello again! You look fabulous 🤩 Hasn’t it been the most amazing journey for us all?

@AelitaQueenofMars yes, that’s exactly what I thought when she said every 9 days. Every dose counts, including the bonus one.

I’ve also realised that maintenance is not as exciting as losing over 4 stone but hey-ho. There’s absolutely 100% no way on this green earth that I’m EVER going to be obese again.

@Pinkbendyman I’m determined never to be so overweight again too! Fingers crossed for us!

MrsNessaSmithy · 24/02/2025 08:42

Wow @3wDavid you look incredible.

I am still struggling with the last stone I need to lose. I am a shortie and every lb really shows now and am so determined to get to my final goal for the first time ever. I am really motivated to push for that final stretch and have promised myself some lovely new clothes as a reward.

My last order was for 12.5 mg as am on 10 and hope that will help with the last bit when this pen is finished.

Seeing all the progress here is so helpful and the maintenance plans also as I never want to get back to where I was. I think some of you know my weight loss journey has been long and I am 9 stone down in total over the last 10 years but the final 50lb has been on MJ as I had regained some. I have been overweight for my whole adult life and hovering at BMI 27 so feel so close.
