Does anyone have a non number goal to share?

Mine is to be able to take off my wedding ring (and put it back on!) I can take off my engagement ring for the first time in many years but the wedding ring just won't budge. Once I can do that I will truly know I've lost weight. I was 10st on my wedding day, at 5'9", currently just over 14st. I won't be back at 10st ever but would be good to be close.

My wedding and engagement band are stuck on! Waiting for that day when I can take them off 🤣 so that is one of my goals also! Another is having a bath and being able to get out again! I might be able to now but too scared to try! When I am down another stone I'll give it a go! Also! I have a pair of knee high boots I bought a few years ago and haven't been able to get the zip up ..like not even close! So looking forward to slimming enough to be able to use those Barbor boots!

Hello to all newcomers and well done to those with losses and other achievements.

I've had a difficult week as I'm out of routine with the holidays and I think taking the extra dose on top of my last 2.5 was a bad idea. I definitely feel worse if I make the wrong food choices, so I'm making an effort today to do better than yesterday. I bought a ready to eat grain mix from M&S which is making an easy meal with veg and protein added. It's the kind of thing I could make myself but I can't be bothered too.

Once again, let's finish this before heading over :)

My non scale goal is to be able to buy non-stretchy knee high boots from a regular high street shop. I was always heavy legged.

Other goals: I shall ponder!

Rainbowl · 06/04/2024 12:41

My non scale goals are to get my engagement, wedding and eternity rings back on and to get back to running again. Hoping to be able to run 5km without stopping by the end of the year (and hopefully sooner but I’m not a fan of running in the summer).

MelissaLouRocks · 06/04/2024 12:48

I've got a beautiful leather jacket I haven't been able to wear for years. That's if I can reclaim it from my daughter... 🤔

Femeia · 06/04/2024 12:59

@ObsidianTree I totally get you on the baths. When I started losing weight a 15 months ago that was a major goal. I can now do it but I always put a rubber mat down inside the bath as that gives me some grip for my feet. There was a really good thread on here a while ago with loads of tips on how to get up out of the bath. One, which I found helpful before I lost more weight was to turn onto all fours first (rubber mat handy for that too) but I didn't do that often as if wasn't too easy.

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 06/04/2024 13:01

Getting my wedding ring back on is a non-scale goal for me too!

CiderJabs · 06/04/2024 13:05

Well what can I say? I may have just found myself a new non number goal!

I've just got engaged ❤️❤️❤️- totally unexpected! It's the second time for both of us. Not getting married until next year and I'm determined to have a dress no bigger than a size 12!

Oops, I have just started Mounjaro and just posted on thread 4 as I didn't realise this one wasn't full, Apologies, I am new to mumsnet
Adding my original message here.

Please can I join in too. Current bmi of 46! I started Mounjaro yesterday and food cravings have gone completely. I wasn't expecting it to be so sudden. Was it like this for anyone else? I made lunch today because I was feeling light headed rather than hungry and I had no sensation when eating the food at all. No joy or feeling at all, it was just fuel for my body. Just trying to get my head around it!

Thank you. It's an extra bit of motivation! He's also on MJ which is lovely - except that he seems to lose weight with little or no effort! Men eh?

NCfor24 · 06/04/2024 13:34

@CiderJabs Congratulations 🎉 💍
What a fabulous goal to have to keep you going.

I'm a size 16/18 & my wedding dress is a 12 so I might make that a non scales goal!
In the interim I have some size 14 jeans I bought 2 years ago that still have tags on so that's my short term goal. I have lots of jeans that are a 16 but too tight so the current 3 pairs I actually wear have kind of grown with me I think!

Also I went to Lidl for a food shop today and I don't usually shop there. I found a range of High Protein ready meals, lots of protein yogurts and drinks...so options for easy food. I had a protein coffee drink for breakfast at less than 150 cals.

Was so weird to shop and look for food that's good for me as opposed to what I fancy...because honestly I don't fancy a lot of it despite feeling a bit hungry. I'm not starving though at all and definitely able to resist stuff that I would have mindlessly eaten before. It's very unusual the feeling of control.

I've "only" lost 3lb in 3 weeks but I was away for a week and we've had 2 takeaway currys this week (this is NOT typical!) so I don't feel remotely deprived or that I'm on a diet so those 3lb have come off easily. I am going to start weighing daily though just to stop it being an emotive once a week thing. I have constipation at the best of times and it really impacts the scales so hopefully daily I can see the graph trending downwards more easily.

Anyway it's 1.30 and my DS12 has just reminded me I've forgotten to do his lunch 🤣 Unexpected side effect is child neglect apparently!!

AgathaMystery · 06/04/2024 13:49

We have friends coming for dinner tonight and I’m doing a couple of bits from Rukmini Iyer’s ‘roasting tin’ cookbooks. They are all really fresh, healthy meals so I will report back. Also making a big corn and feta salad which is so yummy. I know I won’t eat much but it’s nice to still cook and I haven’t made any effort to do that in 4 weeks. Whoops.

also wearing a size 16 boiler suit from next that is… baggy. I am amazed as slow losses this week.

Femeia · 06/04/2024 13:50

Congratulations @CiderJabs! Lovely news and a great goal to aim for.

I'm off on holiday next month and very aware that it will be bad for the weight loss. Hoping to lose a decent amount in the next 4 weeks so that even if I do put on weight on holiday (inevitable) I'm still on a downward curve overall. I was doing well on calorie counting/walking till I last went on holiday in November and then it was Christmas....and now I'm only just back to where I was at my lowest in November. So losses from now on are true losses and I really don't want to be spending months getting holiday gains off again. I'm 54 and in peri menopause and the weight really seems to stick.

NextPrimeMinister · 06/04/2024 14:00

@AppleCherryBlossom I had an immediate result from my first injection, I lost my appetite within hours!

But after 4 weeks on 2.5gm was ready to go up to 5gm. I'm still on my first 5gm pen, but have bought a second one.

Some of us just seem to respond well to 2.5gm which isn't ment to do much more than get our bodies used to it and limit side effects.

Wonkypictureframe · 06/04/2024 14:00

Congrats, @CiderJabs !

Femeia · 06/04/2024 14:09

I'm wondering how long to wait before I order another 5mg pen rather than the 7.5mg I want. I've got one more dose, plus the bonus dose (had been considering combining it with the last dose of the 2.5mg pen which I have kept in the fridge) but am now thinking I will just use the last 2x5mg doses and continue on a new 5mg pen until I can access 7.5mg. This is frustrating with the supply problems.
Is anyone else considering this?

LoadsToLose · 06/04/2024 14:10

I think the effect on 2.5mg could be partly placebo and partly being very sensitive to the drug. I felt I had a lump in my throat and felt a little stuffed much of the time, so was put off eating too much

LoadsToLose · 06/04/2024 14:13

These threads are filling up fast… there are a lot of us on here now. Very supportive.

Thank you @ObsidianTree for setting up the new thread and posting all the helpful information for newbies.

I will post my weigh in on the new thread soon (under a new name).
