Hi everyone, I'm not on Mounjaro but I need to lose the last bit of weight so I can have an abdominoplasty in about September. I'm desperate for the operation because I don't feel I can go forward with a prospective relationship with the way the skin looks now, so it's affecting my life a lot as I have met someone but it's on hold and he won't wait forever 😭

I had a similar thread this time last year, and whilst I didn't regain last year, and I've stayed steady so I am eligible for the op, I will get optimal results if I lose a bit more (about 10 pounds) but over this past year I have not achieved that. When I say "eligible", I mean with the surgeon, this is private and not NHS, unfortunately. I have also been told not to lose more once I've had the op, and I'm not keen to fix my position at this weight permanently.

Could I take a short course of Mounjaro just for this aim even though I'm not obese any more? I'm thinking for just about eight or twelve weeks? 🤔

I think it would very much depend on your current BMI as there are quite strict prescribing guidelines

waistchallenge · 27/03/2024 20:29

Oh right, thanks. I'll check those out but if I had to guess I won't be eligible, I don't know my BMI but I'm not overweight anymore. This is really just to shift some weight from the abdomen to help with the operation result.

Edit: so what about when people come out of the overweight zone on the BMI chart, are they still eligible to be prescribed to? Or do they stop being eligible?

KeepingUndercover · 27/03/2024 20:32

You have to have a BMI over 30 @waistchallenge, a little lower if you also have a weight related issue I think. And any reputable supplier will ask for photos of you and sometimes of you standing on the scale too , as well as ID, to prove you meet the criteria.

edit: if you’re on it then you can keep being prescribed it as you move into a lower BMI. It’s just your starting point has to be above. If you switch suppliers it can be an issue though.

waistchallenge · 27/03/2024 20:33

Oh well, thanks for the help. That's disappointing but it was worth asking.

ChequeredPastel · 27/03/2024 20:52

Well done on losing all of your weight in the first place though @waistchallenge !

Hello hello

Soukmyfalafel · 27/03/2024 22:46

Checking in. Thread number 3 already ....we are doing well!💪

Investinmyself · 27/03/2024 23:28

Thanks for starting thread 3. I’m on my 3rd 2.5mg dose.

Choux · 28/03/2024 00:12

Checking in.

MapleSpice · 28/03/2024 00:20

Thanks for the new thread! Just checking in, I'll take my fifth injection today (I increased to 5mg by combining my last two 2.5mg doses, so this is my third 5mg dose) and I'm still feeling good. No appetite really, I haven't had anything sweet/snacky since starting as it's completely silenced that part of my brain.

I can't believe how much it's transformed my eating habits and helped me fight the cravings and food noise, it's been unreal to not be bombarded with thoughts of food/having to eat sweets or chocolate if I know it's in the house.

Starting weight 22nd Feb 24: 16 stone 7 lbs
Current weight: 14 stone 13 lbs

Going to stick at 5mg for my next order as I don't think I will be able to face eating at all on a higher dose at the moment. Happy to stay here for as long as possible!

NCfor24 · 28/03/2024 07:21

Hi, thanks for the new thread. Week 2 day 6 for me and we're on holiday...home tomorrow.
I feel like I must have eaten so little compared to a normal holiday where I just use the fact we're away from home as an excuse to eat everything in sight! 2 meals a day (I don't often eat breakfast), minimal snacks but I have had one creme egg and some peanuts, but I have had wine. We've eaten out twice and I've been able to choose off the menu based on calories and nutrition rather than what I "want" - but I'm not depriving myself because I don't want a big greasy burger anymore...I'm happy with those healthy choices and feel perfectly content making them. I felt really stuffed last night but I definitely hadn't overeaten so the last 2.5mg dose is still doing it's thing. Feeling a bit peckish this morning though and I'll be ready for dose 3 the minute I get home tomorrow!
I'll be weighing in on Saturday so a day late. Not sure I'm expecting a loss as I don't feel different, but I'd like to have stayed the same at least.

zaffa · 28/03/2024 07:23

Morning all! Checking in as we prepare for Easter (I can't believe I haven't bought all the Easter eggs, it's my favorite chocolate and I'm not even tempted!)

Exitstrategist · 28/03/2024 07:41

Weighing in a day early at 73.2kg.
I have lost 9 pounds in 4 weeks. Absolutely delighted. My first goal is 69kg which would bring my BMI into the healthy range. Ultimate Goal weight is 62kg- another 11kg to go. Possible by end June? About to go on holiday now so very worried I will start unpicking this. Will be a few days late with my injection also.

A new thread for a new starter 😀

First 2.5 dose taken this morning.
Current weight 12.66 st, measurements taken so that I can check progress.
Target weight 10 st.

BlackFriYay · 28/03/2024 08:47

Good morning all

Week 2 day 5 for me (2.5mg)

I understand there are many of us with the side effect of constipation but I was wondering whether anybody has the opposite effect?

I have long term constipation caused by a medication I take but for the past week things have been very different, to put it politely.

I'm taking my DS for a weekend away tomorrow so it's not ideal but I'm wondering whether this is the mounjaro or if I'm coming down with a bug..

FlappyFish · 28/03/2024 08:49

Morning all! Week 6 weigh in. Injection 7 tomorrow.

SW: 14.1
CW: 12.9

Loss this week 3lbs.

StressyMessyJess · 28/03/2024 09:32

Hi! Well done everyone with your journeys so far.
I took my first 2.5 jab yesterday. Today I'm very achey and my skin feels quite tender. Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks

Fofftwenty21 · 28/03/2024 09:32

Another newbie here - morning all!

I've ordered from Voy using a referral code someone shared up thread. It's been really helpful reading through the threads and everyone's experience so thank you 😊

I have a lot to loose - SW 17.11 at 5ft6 BMI over 40 and also have chronic pain so am hoping losing some weight will help with my mobility too.

I've had that issue the day after each jab (2) so far. Then a day of none at all (unusual for me) and then varying between slight constipation and normal.

Hi and welcome! I really ached after my first injection, my feet and wrists especially. I also had a slightly upset tum and was really bloated. I took my third jab on Tuesday and had minimal side effects this time, just a bit of painful bloating over night (this is when my symptoms kick in for me, I inject at tea time on the Tuesday) so hopefully yours will also lessen the next time you take it.
