haha sorry about the mental image @MelissaLouRocks !! Digital scales are great, I was just obsessing over all the data and for myself, I need this attempt to be a healthy reset and I know weighing daily could risk setting off disordered eating. So I have chosen to weigh once a week (tomorrow AM!).

I also recognise the slimming world weigh day cliff edge someone else mentioned - I definitely tried to game it, eating less on weigh day / delaying dinner til after the weigh in. Eating SW choc bars post weigh in because I was so hungry! Absolutely ridiculous when you stop and think about it eh? This is also an example of how it can trigger unsustainable behaviour/ disorder eating.

I am guessing most of us know what our triggers are for unhelpful behaviours as we’ve all been around the diet block a fair few times!!

Edited

Oh god this is giving me flashbacks to SW. I did all of those things too…

Sunshineandrainbow · 06/04/2024 08:39

@NC543210 which shakes are you taking?
I am going to have to try something as not wanting to eat enough!

ChequeredPastel · 06/04/2024 08:57

Week five for me. Down 18 pounds. I’ve taken each jab on the sixth day, which has helped me stay focussed.

Re: when we no longer will be allowed the prescription, asda state that once you’re into the healthy BMI bracket they will
no longer prescribe Mounjaro.

@Sunshineandrainbow I'm having the ufit 50g protein ones.
They're relatively good carb wise and not a massive amount of calories either.

If you buy them direct from ufit they work out cheaper than picking them up at say Tesco. I wasn't getting anywhere near the protein recommended for me until I introduced one a day. It would probably be cheaper still to buy powder but I like the convenience of these.

Thank you, I was just looking at that brand but the 20g protein, I will check the higher ones out.
In the meantime I will pop today and get a few 20g ones to try as I have seen them in b and m and Iceland!

Morning,

Last night I found the code

BIRTHDAY-BUNNY

for £30 off medexpress.

Hope that helps. I decided to jump to medexpress so I'm waiting to see if my photo/id/recent prescription is accepted.

Hi all,

I’ve been watching the threads for a little while and finally taking the leap! My mounjaro arrives today! Just out of interest, what time of day do you jab?

thanks x

I did mine after work at about 5pm.
I don't think it matters. See what time it arrives and good luck.

ObsidianTree · 06/04/2024 09:32

For those on 5mg, are you feeling like it's still working? I was feeling like it was really working well 2 weeks ago but last week was a struggle and was craving most of the week. I injected in my arm so won't do that again if it was that reason!

I'm stuck on 5mg for another month anyway. Just hope 7.5mg is ready when my next 5mg pen runs out! I will be moving up when it becomes available.

It's really good to hear other people's stories. Some of your weight losses are amazing. Well done.

I injected my first injection on Thursday. I haven't felt that different. But one thing I have noticed is I have prepared my usual food and not eaten all of it. It's really odd.

I am struggling with protein at breakfast time. I am also worried about how little I am eating sometimes.

We are off on a UK holiday today. I am hoping I keep up with the no symptoms but not eating too much too. I really need results.

My son wants to stop off and McDonalds on the way. How do you all deal with this? What do you order etc...

FlappyFish · 06/04/2024 09:40

It’s all progress @ObsidianTree yippee! 5 is working, but I felt the drop before injection day. But then I responded so well to 2.5. Everything says it’s not a therapeutic dose and yet I lost quickly.

If I was having to go to McDonalds I simply wouldn’t eat. Probably not what you want to hear @Baldatbirth but I know I wouldn’t be able to force it down with how I feel on MJ.

Be careful with diet drinks.

This is a really basic explanation (only coz it’s late & I CBA) but when that sweet taste hits you, your pancreas doesn’t initially know it’s sugar free etc. so you still get an insulin dump like you would if it were full of sugar. Diet drinks do us no favours in weight loss.

I was taught this by my old boss, an eminent endocrine professor who knows all the things about this sort of stuff.

THats really interesting, thank you. If heard that diet drinks weren't actually that great for weight loss, it's really helpful to understand why!

I actually quite like the grilled chicken and bacon salad from McDs. It’s under 200cals. It’s basically chicken, bacon and a lot of lettuce.

The wraps are also decent. The sweet chilli chicken one with grilled chicken is 340cals.

Morning everyone! I weighed in yesterday and I am half a pound away from a stone!
SW 20st13.5
CW 20st
First target weight 15st

I know my target doesn't even put me in the overnight category, but with so much to lose I thought I'd try and make smaller targets.
I had my fourth jab of 2.5 last night.
I wish it was going off faster, but only because I want to see results now because I'm so inpatient! I know it's far healthier to lose at a rate of 2ish pounds a week, that it will mean time for skin to recover a bit and it's a healthy, sustainable loss. But I am seeing people for the first time in six months at the start of May and I really want them to go wow! You've lost weight!

A friend has recommended this super thick moisturizer cream called double dose to keep the skin really hydrated and elastic. They said it worked for them when doing a low calorie meal restriction and they lost like 8st - but he is a man so I don't know if it's different for men and their skin elasticity (also at that point he was ten years younger than I am now!) still, going to give it a go along with the other things I'm trying (collagen). I've also read that marine collagen is better than bovine for skin, so may have to return the one I impulse bought but haven't yet opened for a marine one.

Good luck everyone - you are all doing so so well and I just love this group!

I've had a wrap a couple of times as we have some late finishes for the kids activities lately and they just need to be fed. I order the grilled chicken wraps and a bottle of water. It's been enough but if you don't want the carbs you get one of their salads

I believe the cream you mentioned is actually called Doublebase, as I need to use it for my eczema.

And yes, apparently marine collagen is far better for skin maintenance, but ideally it should be taken in conjunction with hyaluronic acid.

Well done on your loss, you're doing brilliantly!

FlappyFish · 06/04/2024 10:27

@zaffa That is a very sensible weight loss goal. I think half the motivation on a diet is seeing consistent loss and you’re off to a great start.

I'm not a breakfast person at all, so that's when I have my protein shake. I call it a shake, but this is more of a high protein meal replacement, and they're lovely. Although not the cheapest, they don't have any crap or fillers in like many do. They also have a plain, unflavoured protein powder that you can add to other things such as hot drinks, meals etc. I hope it's useful!

I erred to post this but I shall. My heaviest weight and current weight. I was NOT that weight when I started MJ. I was about 18 stone there and I started MJ at 14. So please don’t think MJ has made me plummet that quickly. That’s a 6 stone difference.

18.5 to 12.5. There’s a few years in between!!

MelissaLouRocks · 06/04/2024 10:31

You're looking great @FlappyFish !

Choux · 06/04/2024 10:33

That's a transformation @FlappyFish ! Well done!

Do you mind me asking roughly what age you are? I'm mid 50s and am wondering if I will ever get my waist back or get arms I would be happy to bare and you now seem to have both. I suspect you are quite a bit younger than me!

Stickthatupyourdojo · 06/04/2024 10:41

@Baldatbirth I've had two McDonald's since starting. The first time I had a chicken nugget happy meal and I had already decided I was happy to eat it all but I couldn't even finish it. Second time I had a quarter pounder with cheese meal (my fave) and had a few of the chips and didn't eat most of the bun. Still lost weight and that was Easter weekend when I also had some chocolate twice. I found the McDonald's so much more filling than other food I've had while on MJ.

@FlappyFish well done! Look at your waist!

I'm stuck on 5mg for another month anyway. Just hope 7.5mg is ready when my next 5mg pen runs out! I will be moving up when it becomes available.

I've just taken my 3rd dose of 5mg and definitely felt it was wearing off (2nd dose was the first time to date that I felt appetite suppression and only for a few days). It's a concern if we have to stay on 5mg for longer due to supply issues Confused

SW Jan 2023 (calorie counting) 249lbs BMI 37
SW Feb 2024 MJ 212lbs BMI 31.4
CW after 6 weeks 204lbs BMI 29.8
GW 154lbs or so

So no big losses yet BUT I'm overweight now, not obese! I've had 2 meals out this week with drinks so have definitely not been as disciplined as I could have been, so a 4lb loss this week is an unexpected bonus although I do feel it makes up for some very minor losses in previous weeks where I was absolutely behaving myself.

My protein shake packets have arrived- as a vegetarian I think I'll find it easier to get enough protein by using these, although I do focus on eating protein heavy foods anyway.

There are some great losses here, well done to all.

Femeia · 06/04/2024 10:44

Aargh I can't edit - am actually 202lbs so a 10lb loss to date on MJ

FlappyFish · 06/04/2024 10:48

@Choux I’m 41. I was probably 33 in that bigger photo. I do have some loose skin and I have a very tiger striped tummy. I’ve never had children but that weight gain was a result of medication and addiction.
