Hi and welcome! I really ached after my first injection, my feet and wrists especially. I also had a slightly upset tum and was really bloated. I took my third jab on Tuesday and had minimal side effects this time, just a bit of painful bloating over night (this is when my symptoms kick in for me, I inject at tea time on the Tuesday) so hopefully yours will also lessen the next time you take it.

Thank you for replying.
Fingers crossed it lessens 🙂

Losing weight nicely, no side effects. Actually feel like a million dollars .

Did ozempic successfully last year until I couldn't get it.
After 6 months I had only regained 7lb of the 30lb lost so I was pleased with that.
Restarted with MJ, 3rd jag tomo.

Couple of things.

My blood pressure was high normal previously. Not needing treatment but was keeping an eye on it.
When I was on Ozempic and now again on MJ, my blood pressure has dropped into a very healthy range. It's not just related to the weight loss, it coincides with actually being on the drug. Have read up a bit and it does indeed lower blood pressure.

Other thing is, I have very allergic skin. I have to tape the strap of my watch with micropore, so that no nickel or latex touches me. I would get horrible itchy welts at watch strap every few days.
I have had none of that AT ALL since starting MJ on 15th Mar. When I googled it does indeed supress macrophage mediated inflammation.

I also have very inflamed knee joints due to autoimmunity....again, they aren't perfect but are orders of magnitude less sore.

It's honestly helping me out in so many more ways than just the weight loss.

The way USA medical works is a whole other world to us Brits. You have some whose insurance will pay with a small co-pay, what we’d call and excess. Some with higher excess. Some refuse. And no one can get meds within 50 miles of them from FB.

apologyaccepted · 28/03/2024 14:19

Hi all, am really enjoying this thread and lots of great ideas and info. I am doing my third jab tonight - actually due tomorrow, but I am feeling much hungrier today so going to do it a little sooner.

But I have to say I am feeling bloody amazing! I have only lost 6lbs in these two weeks, but honestly, I feel so in control it almost makes me want to happy cry. I am eating well, drinking loads of water, exercising every day and I feel ridiculously pleased with myself. And I am already feeling like my clothes are fitting so much more comfortably.

It is so nice to feel in control and even if I don't have huge weight loss (which I probably won't as I do LOTS of weight training, so building up my muscles), I feel so much better in myself and my control.

Yes - this is pretty much it. I have paid A LOT of money to date, basically covering my health insurance excess.

But from now on through year end, each month will be a very low co-payment. I think it has been worth it for me. And I am lucky that I can afford it. But I have had to titrate back down to 5.0 for the next month as I cannot find the 7.5 anywhere around where I live. We should see it in April, but no sign yet.

Rainbowl · 28/03/2024 14:40

Hi everyone, please can I join you? Some of you might have seen my thread ‘Please help. I am desperate’ where, after several replies from some lovely supportive people, I came to the conclusion it was time for me to start Mounjaro.

It has literally just arrived and I’m a bit nervous to say the least! I’m wondering… What is your number one tip for a total newbie? I’ve not tried Wegovy or anything so this is brand new for me.

Things I am wondering so far…

  1. When should I inject?
  2. How can I prevent constipation?
  3. What do I do with the sharps bin?! It came with my order (from MedExpress) but a quick google tells me my council don’t do direct collection - you’re supposed to take it back to the GP or pharmacy.

I am slowly but surely reading every post on these threads right back from the very first one and would love to join you if that’s ok.

FlappyFish · 28/03/2024 15:37

Hi @Rainbowl and welcome! I’d never taken anything like this before either and I’ve been learning with all the others here.

I inject first thing on injection day at the top of my thigh. The pens aren’t user friendly if you’ve not done subcutaneous injection before. I would read the instructions multiple times and watch some videos. You have to twist two clicks and prime and then extend it up to 1. Then plunge and hold for at least 5 seconds. It doesn’t hurt me. The needle is so fine.

Constipation. I take senna tablets each night at present. Even then it doesn’t always work. Plus I’m eating a lot less, so a lot less to come out. Others are taking aloe and other supplements to help.

Drink as much water as you can. I get a dry mouth frequently.

I haven’t tried to sort out sharps yet. I reckon it would take me a year to fill the bin as the needles are so small.

Beat wishes on your journey!

Mortigua · 28/03/2024 15:41

I’ve not heard back from med express other than they will get back to me within 72 hours and I’m not sure if they will discount the bank holidays so I really hope they approve then send it fast or I could be taking next week’s five late , beginning to wish I’d gone back to my original supplier despite cost!

Mortigua · 28/03/2024 15:43

Hopefully soon though . I’m also a bit confused at my stalled weight loss as I’ve been so strict the last couple of weeks and wondering what’s going on. Hoping for change soon. I’m doing well health wise though and managing to stick to vastly reduced and healthier food.

CiderJabs · 28/03/2024 16:14

Hi @Rainbowl and welcome. I've never done this before either. I inject on my stomach, to ether side of my belly button. I also take senna every other night. I heard aloe Vera tablets are good but I have not tried them yet.
The pen is a bit faffy and you need to turn it forever until you see the number 1 but once you have it there , inject it 90 degrees with your body, press it slowly and wait 5 seconds after the liquid has gone in. Don't worry about your sharps bin. Keep it for now and let it fill up!

I read your thread and I'm glad you're here. This is honestly a wonderful thing. All the best of luck!!!

I saw that yesterday! That's crazy theirs is that expensive!

Hi everyone I've been lurking on pt1, 2 and now 3...my order arrived today and I've just taken my first dose. I was really nervous that it would be over complicated but I had GD in my last pregnancy and it was just exactly like taking insulin for that the only thing is my little short fingers struggled to reach the plunger at dose 1 god help me when it gets to 4 I'll need to rethink my technique.
I'm not taking measurements because I genuinely think they'll send me into a pit of depression I'm about 3 stone heavier than the last time I measured at the start of a diet 😫so I dread to think what they are now. Over all I would like to lose 5 stone so realistically think I will be on this for the rest of the year. All of your results and posts have been so encouraging hopefully I'm as successful.

ObsidianTree · 28/03/2024 16:18

Welcome to all the newbies :)

well done for the losses reported today :)

ObsidianTree · 28/03/2024 16:21

@Rainbowl welcome!

That's great that your pen has come so quickly. My advise would be to just take it! The side effects tend to be quite mild initially. Maybe as it builds you start feeling cold, constipation, some aches... But generally not much bother.

@Mortigua your order is taking ages! Hope it hasn't got lost somewhere! Do you have enough meds to last for a week or two?

I'm about to start too. My BMI is 27.3, but I have comorbidities which make me eligible. Through sheer willpower I lost 9 kg over the course of last year, but for the past six months my weight loss has completely stalled. I eat healthily and do daily workouts, but every now and then I'm just so tired of trying to diet with no result, and then I'll have a larger meal. I also snack out of boredom and 'feeling snacky' -- healthy snacks, but still snacks. I seem to be in an endless loop of gaining and losing the same kg. I'm curious (and desperate) to see if Mounjaro will still work for people like me.

ticktock19 · 28/03/2024 16:55

I'm not sure who it was that wrote about / recommended the Clear Whey from MyProtein. I ordered some the other day and between that and protein shake then I'm seriously full. Very much appreciated

lurkylurk · 28/03/2024 17:36

@0rganisedchaos
No need to worry, you just twist to 1 each time, it doesn't get any harder to reach!

lurkylurk · 28/03/2024 17:37

@0rganisedchaos
I measured my waist a little while ago and was so horrified I've actually forgotten what the measurement was, think I went into shock!

Investinmyself · 28/03/2024 17:49

Just been approved for 5mg reordered via pharmacy4u. Was a discount code. I’ve got dose 4 to take of 2.5mg then will move up. I’m really happy with their service and don’t want to be chopping and changing as I’ve dropped into overweight not obese bmi now.
I am calorie counting with nutracheck.
In 4.5 months I’d lost 7lb and 2 weeks on 2.5mg injection I’ve lost 5.5 lb so I’m very pleased.
I feel really well. No side effects.
I’m taking aloe Vera tablets for 💩 and drinking lots of water.

My bmi is 29 now. I was cc/exercising but such slow going. I’ve posted my update above but I’ve nearly lost as much in a few weeks on injection as several months.
I haven’t had big losses but that’s because less to lose and I was cc anyway. I think as long as you mentally prepare for it being 1-2lb a week you’ll be fine.
I found it soul destroying to be trying for months (food & exercise) and pretty much same weight as when I started.

Hey, I didn't realise there was a new thread. I've received my first pen and I'm going to take it this evening! Feeling v nervous all of a sudden!

Have to keep remembering why I'm doing this and how much it's going to change my life.

Good luck to everyone else starting, and thanks for being so supportive.
