Has anyone changed from wegovy to mounjaro. If so which do you find better and why please x

EsotericMnemonic · 28/03/2024 23:37

Just to add @LifeProsperityHealth, I’m now very mindful of my diet and which day of the week it is. On days 1-3 I not only eat very small portions, but I also have quite bland food (in week 1 I vomited after eating mixed bean chilli). I try to have several smaller meals across the day, including some meal replacement drinks if I really can’t face eating.

Is there anyone out there who hasn't had any appetite change? I'm coming to the end of week 5 and no change in appetite at all. I've lost around 5lbs through willpower alone. Side effects of terrible spots, vivid dreams and teeth grinding but I could eat a horse still. Hoping the 7.5 comes into stock and does the trick for me

Apparently Eli Lilly will not be releasing the 7.5mg dose in the UK until approximately mid April.

Thanks @ObsidianTree

Just woken with crippling cramps. Joy. This feels like being a teenager again.

Have taken painkillers and back to sleep.

MuthaHubbard · 29/03/2024 05:08

Just checking in. Coming to the end of week 5 on 2.5 after getting the extra dose out. Will be injecting my first 5mg on Saturday and hopefully any side effects are over with by Tuesday. If there are no issues tho, I'm hoping to get to the gym over the weekend and get back into to lifting some weights.

I can’t believe how cold I feel! I’m usually the one getting a sweat on after a bike ride, overheat at night and on public transport. But no more. I’m the one asking to turn the heating up. What’s happening to me?!

This is definitely my main side effect. It's worse the night of taking my jab and gradually gets better as the week progresses.

I used be the sweaty person. Walk short distances and be really sweaty etc. Yesterday I had to go through London for a work trip, I dressed light because I'm so used to being extremely sweaty on tbe hot tube. But this time I was cold! No sweating at all. Admittedly if felt pretty cold yesterday so maybe why!

But going to be interesting in summer if we get any type of extreme heat like some years. Will we be sweating with everyone else or just feel slightly warm! For a hot summer this side effect could be good! Well if the sun decides to come out that is!

Sorry you aren't feeling any appetite suppression. I felt like this the first few weeks, then it started to build gradually. Going up to 5mg was the key for me.

How many doses of 5mg have you had? Hopefully once you've had 2 jabs the 5mg builds up in your body more and is enough to start having more of an effect. If not, then maybe 7.5mg might be the dose for you. When it becomes available!

Hi everyone, I took my first dose yesterday (Wed) evening at about 20:30. I've felt mostly fine today, a little bit nauseous but that's about it. I've had virtually no appetite so have eaten much much less than usual. However, this evening I'm feeling really quite sick and have diarrhoea. For those who are further ahead on the journey, will it always be like this?! Or will the side effects ease up as my body gets used to it? Really grateful for any thoughts.

I not had very bad side effects but the side effects I have had tended to be short lived. If I had some aches, headache after injection, i could take an ibuprofen and the side effects would be gone soon enough etc. I had runs after my first injection but just once and went away. The main side effect for me is coldness.

Hey all,

There is an even better code for MedExpress. I don't know if it's just for new customers tho. BACK-SPRING

Pen works out at £94!

If anyone is with medexpess and ordering with them soon, try this code and let us know if it works!

Guessing it would definitely work for new starters.

There is also SAVE10 that might work for returning customers, if the one above doesn't work!

Also, also! I noticed that MedExpress has
referral discounts too. But don't know if its further discount on the coupon codes already on offer. So might not be worth it if you can only use one coupon. But maybe worth a go to see if you can get double discount? It offers £5 off for people you refer. And you get £5 too! I don't actually know how MedExpress make any money!

Also, if anyone wants to buy protein powder from myprotein, I have a referral code to give £20 credit if you spend £45. Let me know

:)

Thankyou!
Just ordered my first 5mg pen for £95 inc delivery, what a bargain!
I'm due my 3rd 2.5mg dose today, so works well with the bank holiday delays etc, I'll still have it in plenty of time. The order does say they'll contact me for details to confirm I've started elsewhere etc.
I really didn't want to change suppliers as want my history in one place, but far too good an offer to turn down so much appreciated! All being well I'll stick with MedExpress, though.

ObsidianTree · 29/03/2024 07:16

No probs @NCfor24 ☺️ I also wasn't planning to leave Asda, but saving £30 a month long term without a coupon code was too much to miss! Wish I had known about the Back spring code before I ordered tho! 😂

I suggest you take pics of your current mornjaro box showing your name and dose and send to them via their email contact option with your order number.

I did this and got my delivery in 48hrs. But I know @Mortigua hasn't had her order yet and ordered around the same time as me!

So send what proof you can to hopefully speed up the process!

Oh this is amazing.

I'm one of those moaning it is way too hot people and dislike the summer due to not being able to sleep well.

ObsidianTree · 29/03/2024 07:32

That sounds amazing @waistchallenge!

Yeah, I never expected this, even though I wasn't overweight all my life I had never registered temperatures too much or don't remember how I felt.

But I have some bad scarring on my arms so almost always wear long sleeves, before I had to sweat it out whereas now I am much more comfortable thank God.

NC543210 · 29/03/2024 07:37

So I'm now on day 5.
Took my first dose on Sunday evening. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I was so hungry. In fact Tuesday I was even more hungry than usual.

I feel like yesterday it actually started working. Which is baffling to me as I thought it wore off as the week progressed.
Wednesday evening I got in from work at around 7pm and had my evening meal then.
Woke up Thursday morning and felt like I'd only eaten half an hour previously. Still felt full. Really didn't want to eat until around 1pm where I had a sandwich from M&S a healthy one and a small salad. Full and then had my dinner at 7pm when I got in. Managed about half of it.

Not long been up and I still have that feeling that I only ate half an hour ago as though the food is still in my stomach.

Also yesterday actually managed to go to the toilet which hasn't been the case all week.

Just weighed and it looks as though I've lost 2lb so far which is amazing as on Tuesday I felt like it definitely wasn't going to work and the scales had actually gone up from my start day.

We have a busy weekend which is going to include food.
Indian restaurant tonight
And a family gathering tomorrow.

Both will include alcohol and slight unhealthy food.

So I'm going to try and continue being healthy but not beat myself up.

Week two weigh in!
Starting weight: 20st 13.5
Week 1: -6.5
Week 2: -5

Very happy with these results! This week was really odd, I fell into some really bad habits weds and thurs (Wednesday I seemed to eat only chicken breast - I munched through four packets of sliced chicken breast from the co-op, with a packet of plum tomatoes and a bowl of Hi fibre bran) and it highlighted how easy it is to fall into disordered eating patterns (I felt so ill yesterday I didn't eat until last night).
So I'm going to spend some time over Easter working out a proper meal plan. I was so focused on getting enough protein and I've neglected a proper diet.
With the protein supplements that everyone has been taking - does that add calories or just protein? Is it possible to take too much?
I asked Asda doctor about the electrolytes supplement and they said I wouldn't need them if I had a healthy diet but I guess I'm seeing the other side now where I don't know if I'm getting enough of everything etc.

So I have the collagen powder at the moment. It's a clear liquid flavoured drink, like a heavy squash. I have a double portion as I need the protein and I don't eat brekkie (even before the jab!). It is approx 150 calories and 36 grams of protein for the one I have.

Advice needed :) Should I take my first dose of Mounjaro today, even though I'm away on holiday for a few days on Monday? Or better to wait till I'm back? On the one hand I'd like to not over-eat in the hotel restaurants etc, but on the other hand, I'd rather spend my holiday without any side effects...

Personally I think it depends on how much of a weight loss you need and how much of a lifestyle change.

I've been morbidly obese since I was about 15 😔 weight up and down over the years but not been able to shift anything since my second child. For me, this is a lifestyle change that I will need to work hard at for the rest of my life so I've not let any life events get in the way.

If I was using it as a tool and had a few tricky stone to shift I probably would wait.

ObsidianTree · 29/03/2024 08:43

Well done on the weight losses @zaffa

The protein powder is about 113kcals a scoop

The collagen powder is 72 kcals a portion.

@ObsidianTree I'm taking my second dose of 5mg tomorrow so maybe that will be the one that does the trick - I hope so! It's a busy weekend with lots of socialising planned and I want to be able to resist temptation

Thnks @ObsidianTree - can you remind me which collagen supplement you take?
Do you need to take both collagen and protein (I thought they were the same, but I see whey is from milk and collagen is from animals and I'm not sure if you should take both or just one?)

Priority1234 · 29/03/2024 08:54

Has anyone seen any specific research about appetite suppression? I'm 3rd week on 2.5mg and really struggling to eat anything at all and have lost about 15lbs. Swithering about whether to move up at all, but worried the effect will get less over time.

Priority1234 · 29/03/2024 08:56

@NoMoreCoffeePlease I would wait :) Enjoy your time away! Side effects seem to be super variable between people so it would be sensible to be at home when you take it, just in case.
