Thanks @ObsidianTree. The 7.5 is working well. Still not easy for me, but I have lost 7.8lbs in the last 3 weeks, whereas I had only lost 11lbs on the 2.5 and 5.0. I think I will do the 7.5 today and take the 5.0 with me for next week. I am on this for the long term, so I will just keep going. I just hope the 7.5 is back in stock soon, as I have been liking how i feel on it. My hunger is still there, but I acknowledge it and move on, which is what I think "normal" people do.

spamm · 29/03/2024 11:03

@Priority1234 - if it is working for you, stay on the 2.5 for longer. That is definitely the recommendation, for a few reasons. You have more options to move up later, if it starts not having an effect, and you have more time to wait for the higher doses to be in stock when you need them.

Thebaldprimadonna · 29/03/2024 11:12

I hope everyone is having a great Easter weekend so far!

It's been so nice this year lacking any desire to eat all of the kids' Easter eggs 😁

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 29/03/2024 11:51

Hey, just an update in case it helps anyone.
I had my first injection last night and felt fine. I didn't sleep well - I think I was just anxious about having taken it and wondering if I'd get bad side effects. Yesterday I had 120g of protein in my meals and relatively low fat food as I heard that helps with avoiding side effects.

This morning I haven't felt hungry at all. I made myself have a clear whey protein drink, 2 ryvita and a probiotic yoghurt, but it was a chore - normally I'm hungry in the mornings. I feel fine, but a bit tired and a bit cold (but it could just be because I didn't sleep well). The injection site - thigh- aches a little too.

I couldn't believe how small and thin the needle was. I didn't feel it at all, and I was so scared about injecting myself. It was actually easy.

Hope everyone is enjoying the time off work if you're off today!

Sorry you aren't feeling any appetite suppression. I felt like this the first few weeks, then it started to build gradually. Going up to 5mg was the key for me.

How many doses of 5mg have you had? Hopefully once you've had 2 jabs the 5mg builds up in your body more and is enough to start having more of an effect. If not, then maybe 7.5mg might be the dose for you. When it becomes available!

@ObsidianTree
That's good to know that it had more of an effect for you after a few weeks. I had my first injection on Tues and ate a good deal less than usual the next day, yesterday I didn't eat until lunchtime but then snacked a bit in the afternoon and had quite a big dinner and wine and this morning I'm pretty hungry so effect was very short-lived!
If it's the same after next dose I think I'll probably order the 5mg at that point and double up on the last 2.5mg dose to start a bit early on the 5mg

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 29/03/2024 11:56

Looking at that 7.5 availability list, are they going to put the price up with each higher dose? That will be annoying- even more reason to stay on lower doses. I'm on 5 now and even though it helps quieten signals, they haven't stopped.
When I did saxenda years ago, that seemed much stronger for me (although it was annoying being daily)
My side effects are much milder on this though so I'll stick with it.

Thnks @ObsidianTree - can you remind me which collagen supplement you take?
Do you need to take both collagen and protein (I thought they were the same, but I see whey is from milk and collagen is from animals and I'm not sure if you should take both or just one?)

@zaffa

Protein has many different types, which have different types and amounts of amino acids (the building blocks of protein). Whey is good for building muscle, and the idea of taking this while losing weight is so as to not lose too much muscle mass, lean muscle mass keeps your metabolism higher!

Collagen contains amino acids that are good for rebuilding connective tissues in your body (it's what keeps your skin plumper and wrinkle-free when you're younger compared to when you're older) and I think the idea of taking this during weight loss is to reduce the likelihood of loose skin.

So, yes, they are both protein but slightly different kinds that have slightly different functions.

Hope that helps!

I find the first three days there is a good effect on 2.5 but not thereafter, so I'm using some willpower but it's easier to use the willpower IYSWIM.

I'm am still managing low calories, but not much movement on the scales in the last week. I have felt super rough though (from a virus) so have just walked and not exercised. I'm starting to turn a corner today so will go to the gym. Can I just ask how something works because I'm confused - I am on 1200 cals a day, do you count exercise as a part of the calorie deficit? I have been putting my cleaning, walking etc in nutracheck as well as food and after that it is quite a substantial deficit. I thought you just counted the food deficit and exercise is a bonus. What is everyone else doing? I think it might just be the app I'm using.

MammothyGoodness · 29/03/2024 12:51

Hi, just checking in. Had my third injection today. Lost 4lb last week, feel like I really deserve this loss because my entire family ate a McDonald’s in the car this morning and I didn’t have any :)

so far it’s 12lb down in 2 weeks so hoping it’ll be a stone by next week!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 29/03/2024 13:01

Did my weigh in today. The 5mg isn't going great for me as I'm really struggling to get the weight off and my bmi is still almost 40.

I still feel hungry a lot of the time and never have that 'full' feeling. I still feel like it's at least 50% willpower.

Starting weight 15st 11lb 8oz
Last week's weight 14st 5lb 4oz
Current weight 14st 2lb 6oz

ObsidianTree · 29/03/2024 13:09

Still a 3lb loss @PissedOffNeighbour22. Which is great. Hope the next jab gives you the full feeling

I'm down a stone in 6 weeks and am now 100lbs something instead of 200lbs something.

That is incredible to me.

5mg is suiting me well. I did drink wine last night but I enjoyed two glasses and didn't have any more. Usually I'd tan the rest of the bottle and snack.

I have collar bones.

Congratulations on your collar bones! It's the little things isn't it? I'm happy because I lost 7lbs in my first week and can now get up out of my chair without groaning 😀

Rainbowl · 29/03/2024 13:25

Just checking in. Had first dose yday evening and felt okay this morning. This afternoon I have a slight headache and a dry mouth, but nothing major.

Had a couple of chocolate biscuits for breakfast (I know, I know), no cake whilst out with a friend this morning, and then only had half my scrambled egg on toast for lunch. It’s definitely having an effect as I’m just not thinking about food as much.

DH brought some big Easter eggs home from the supermarket this morning and I saw them but knew I’d be able to moderate, whereas before I’d see them and think “oh god, here comes a binge”.

Gruttenberg · 29/03/2024 13:26

I started last Tuesday and have had no side effects other than food noise has stopped. Absolutely amazing!

SW 16st 13 bmi 39.4
1st weigh in -7lbs bmi 38.2

Can't wait for next Tuesday for my next hop on the scales.

I must say I feel that this has fixed something in me that hasn't been working for years. I hope it continues, and good luck everyone.

Congrats on your groan free sit to standing.

I'm trying to concentrate on the changes I can see and feel rather than the numbers on the scales. I can get a bit obsessive with weighing and it is not helpful.

Having said that, the last time I was this weight was 10 years ago and I'm delighted.

ObsidianTree · 29/03/2024 13:55

I stopped taking baths as I couldn't get up anymore! So waiting to lose a few more stone before I attempt a bath again! Looking forward to a bath 😂 when the day comes i'm going to lush to get a nice bath bomb for a treat!

That sounds like a good goal, @ObsidianTree

A fizzy one that smells fantastic?

Definitely @vivariumvivariumsvivaria :)

@Soukmyfalafel I don't think you should count the calories earned during exercising - I don't. This is because most of these apps overestimate how many calories have been burnt so you can lure yourself into a false sense of security and end up eating too much.

Thanks @ObsidianTree. I think what's grating is it's so close to being 3lb off. I've denied myself so much this week that I feel I deserved a good loss.

I turned away Easter eggs for my kids today. I'm fed up of telling family that my kids aren't allowed chocolate and then me and DP end up having to eat it months later when it's going out of date. I just said no, we don't want them - cue some very sour faces and passive aggressive comments, but I've saved myself some calories 😄

Pigriver · 29/03/2024 14:50

@PissedOffNeighbour22 I feel you on the eggs. We buy the kids one they they get one from my mum, their aunt and their uncle. So, not bad you think...but them mum arrived with an egg and a bunny, they have an egg hunt at their aunt's and return with a big egg and basket of small ones. We were still eating them at Christmas last year!

ShalommJackie · 29/03/2024 15:43

Hi when do you know to increase dosage? Also where is the cheapest place to get it? Finally, how do you know what site to use to inject? Ie tummy, thigh or arm?

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 29/03/2024 15:48

@Pigriver It adds up doesn't it, it never ends up being a reasonable amount.
My kids have just turned 2 and 4 so don't know chocolate is associated with Easter and Christmas yet and I want that to last as long as possible.

My 4yr old has digestive issues and chocolate is bad for it, so I feel justified in saying no to people. My dad's reply to me saying no to the 2yr old was 'well you had chocolate at that age'. Was very close to telling him that's probably the reason I'm spending £200 a month on fat meds 😂😂

NCfor24 · 29/03/2024 17:29

Ordered my 5mg kwikpen from MedExpress today. Got an email at 5pm asking for more info which I've provided and already had a reply saying it's been forwarded to the prescriber.
In the meantime I did as @ObsidianTree suggested and sent a photo of my 2.5mg dose from another supplier but I don't think that has been read! Anyway, they should have all the info they need and I'm feeling positive it'll be prescribed if not tomorrow then after the bank holiday which is fine. Worth sending a few emails for the massive £ saving!
Just done my 3rd dose today. Weigh in is tomorrow morning but I've been away and don't feel any different so not expecting miracles. Food consumption has been significantly down on previous holidays, but unfortunately I still have my taste for prosecco!
