My bmi is 29 now. I was cc/exercising but such slow going. I’ve posted my update above but I’ve nearly lost as much in a few weeks on injection as several months.
I haven’t had big losses but that’s because less to lose and I was cc anyway. I think as long as you mentally prepare for it being 1-2lb a week you’ll be fine.
I found it soul destroying to be trying for months (food & exercise) and pretty much same weight as when I started.

That sounds promising! I am happy to go slowly, as long as there is some minor sense of progress.

Investinmyself · 28/03/2024 18:12

@NoMoreCoffeePlease im finding I can still eat meals but it’s cut the snacking out. I’m eating 3 protein based meals.

peachgreen · 28/03/2024 18:29

Thanks for the new thread @ObsidianTree.

I did my second injection on Tuesday and I feel AWFUL today. Dizzy, nauseous and headachey. I couldn’t face eating all day and eventually forced a fish and salad wrap into me. Normally I’d have two but I literally had to force this one down. Glad to have the appetite suppression happening but I wish I didn’t feel quite such hideous!

zaffa · 28/03/2024 18:51

Does anyone know how long the pen lasts if it's opened but kept in the fridge?

FlappyFish · 28/03/2024 18:54

Is anyone finding their period is changing? I took my first injection just as I was due on. I have a mirena, so my cycle is regular but not exact.

I’ve just started on day 17. This isn’t normal for me at all. 21-25 day cycle normally.

I don’t know if it’s weight loss or the MJ impacting the mirena. I’ve seen about oral contraceptives being affected but not seen much on the coil.

Checking in on week 3. Very slow weight loss after the first week and have stalled. I have PMT though. I am hungrier with PMT but ate a quarter of a small Easter egg today instead of the whole thing! The first chocolate ive had since I started. I got no dopamine hit whatsoever!

ineedmoresleepnow · 28/03/2024 19:17

Hi. Joining in if I can please!
Have read all of the previous threads and my pen arrived today from pharmacy online. Planning first injection tonight after my gym session.
Starting weight is 13st 3. I suffer from pcos and hoping will help with the food noise! I do OK with exercise but have absolutely no self control over food.
Previously lost over a stone with saxenda but stopped for a break and it never worked again.

Rainbowl · 28/03/2024 20:42

Thank you @ObsidianTree @FlappyFish and @CiderJabs for the helpful advice. So glad to be here.

Just took my first dose! I read the instructions twice. Watched a video. Also got DH to go through it with me step by step. My goodness the needle is so fine, I didn’t feel a thing! Luckily I’m absolutely fine with needles but I’ve never self-injected. I was so surprised at how easy it was.

Starting weight : 16st 11lb (BMI 40.1)

0rganisedchaos · 28/03/2024 20:48

@lurkylurk doh🙆i watched it go back to zero just ignore me I was clearly having a moment😂at the time I think panic took over that by the time it got to 4 I would have to dislocate my arm to reach it.

I genuinely can't face it because I was absolutely horrified back then and that was quite a few stone ago going into shock would be a saving grace 😂

ChristmasLightsLover · 28/03/2024 20:51

Hello Folks, checking in. Thank you for thread 3 @ObsidianTree

I'm looking forward to the long weekend. Means I can get more walking in. And make some homemade dinners.

I'm going to start on 5 tomorrow. Weighing on Saturday. Hoping the side effects settle before I'm back at work on Tuesday.

What are you all doing this weekend?
What side effects have you had when increasing the dose?

Ticktock40 · 28/03/2024 21:08

Hi all,
really keen to try this but concerned about side affects.
After years of IVF meds and a tough pregnancy with hg and diabetes, I’ve felt rubbish for such a long time.
I’ve got a small baby now so I want/ need to not feel awful. Equally, I’m fed up of being fat!
Please can you let me know how you feel whilst taking this.
Many thanks

Yes my period is coming a few days early each time. Last month 3 days early, this month 2 days early. Bit annoying! But actually not heavy this month.

I have a hol in may and I was due on on my hol, but since my periods are coming earlier, I might be able to finish my period before hol! So only good thing about it!

Hey all,

There is an even better code for MedExpress. I don't know if it's just for new customers tho. BACK-SPRING

Pen works out at £94!

If anyone is with medexpess and ordering with them soon, try this code and let us know if it works!

Guessing it would definitely work for new starters.

There is also SAVE10 that might work for returning customers, if the one above doesn't work!

Also, also! I noticed that MedExpress has
referral discounts too. But don't know if its further discount on the coupon codes already on offer. So might not be worth it if you can only use one coupon. But maybe worth a go to see if you can get double discount? It offers £5 off for people you refer. And you get £5 too! I don't actually know how MedExpress make any money!

Also, if anyone wants to buy protein powder from myprotein, I have a referral code to give £20 credit if you spend £45. Let me know

:)

With MedExpress you can also try going through the process but then stopping at the end and not ordering. You get a 15% discount in your email with their creepy stalker "hey finish your checkout" code.

ObsidianTree · 28/03/2024 21:34

That's great @KeepingUndercover ! I'm going to keep trying coupon codes each time I order!

BlackFriYay · 28/03/2024 21:37

Where is everybody finding the codes? I'm ok for now as I have 2 shots left in my 2.5 then a fresh 5mg in the fridge but it would be good to know for when I do need to order. Also, are the codes a one time use thing? As in one person can use it and thats it?

I'm thinking of going with MedExpress as they seem to be the most reasonably priced.

ObsidianTree · 28/03/2024 21:45

I did a google when ordering and found one of the codes. The other someone mentioned on mumsnet in another thread and seen on Reddit. Also noticed people mention on Facebook that there are always codes about for MedExpress.

The ones for new joiners would be one time use. But I don't know about the others. I don't need another pen for over a month, so the codes might be different then. But if I find more codes I will post them :)

I tried the medexpress website and it said I'm not eligible as my bmi is now (just!) under 30. Even if I say I'm currently taking it, it doesn't allow me to order it :((

ObsidianTree · 28/03/2024 22:07

That's annoying @CiderJabs 😔

Hi everyone! I’m checking in after a few weeks. I’m into week 6 now and on 5mg and it’s working a treat, much better than Ozempic did even on the highest dose. I’ve lost just over 18lbs. No food noise at all, I feel really good and in control, which is still a very alien feeling!
I’m going to stick to 5mg for as long as it’s working this well. My dreams of being at goal weight for my Summer wedding are looking do-able! It’s absolute witchcraft!

LifeProsperityHealth · 28/03/2024 22:36

Hi everyone, I took my first dose yesterday (Wed) evening at about 20:30. I've felt mostly fine today, a little bit nauseous but that's about it. I've had virtually no appetite so have eaten much much less than usual. However, this evening I'm feeling really quite sick and have diarrhoea. For those who are further ahead on the journey, will it always be like this?! Or will the side effects ease up as my body gets used to it? Really grateful for any thoughts.

Pigriver · 28/03/2024 23:08

Just checking in. Almost finished week 4 and the hunger has been so much less this week and I'd usually feel it wearing off about now but I could barely eat today (which I didn't actually notice as I was so busy). Going to take the 5th dose of 2.5mg tomorrow but wondering if I should even go up to 5mg?

@CiderJabs

I literally just read an article about MedExpress and its founder and how they keep in safety criteria.

To keep costs down they use AI to screen out anyone who doesn't qualify for a particular medicine, this saves the actual doctors time and keeps prices low.

That means that in all likelihood your request is not even being seen by a doctor so it might be worth emailing them directly and asking support about this as it may be if the request was presented to the actual doctor as opposed to the automated screening service, with evidence of recent prescription they might accept it, worth a shot.

LoadsToLose · 28/03/2024 23:14

I can’t believe how cold I feel! I’m usually the one getting a sweat on after a bike ride, overheat at night and on public transport. But no more. I’m the one asking to turn the heating up. What’s happening to me?!

Hi, just wanted to reassure you that I felt AWFUL after my first dose but it’s definitely improved. I vomited, had nausea, diarrhea, I couldn’t sleep, was achey and exhausted for the first 2-3 days. I’ve now done four 2.5mg injections. I can’t say I feel great in the 2-3 days after each shot, but nothing has been as bad as week 1 (although I haven’t titrated up to 5mg yet). I now just experience mild nausea and stomach pain. Hang on in there, it should get better. Of course, if you’re vomiting a lot, this may not be the drug for you.
