Something to really watch. GFS model is really looking a bit crackers next week with high temps of perhaps 35c mid week and night minima in the mid 20s. I'll post more tomorrow, but it doesn't look like the traditional school holiday cool down

Where are you skelter? I live much further south (near Toulouse) and 30 degrees at midnight isn't that uncommon here. We've become rather nocturnal, my son and his girlfriend sit in the kitchen half the night and I tend to stay up till it gets a bit fresher (usually starts to feel noticeably cooler towards 1am) even though I have to get up for work.

Edinburgh recorded it's hottest day ever at 31.6 C .

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/07/2019 07:30

Another really rare phenomena last night: heat bursts from collapsing thunderstorms.

The heat bursts! Wow. We had similar in suffolk it dropped then rose.

Iambuffy · 26/07/2019 08:57

So hot.....

BestIsWest · 26/07/2019 09:20

Ooh loud thunder in central London.

ExpletiveDelighted · 26/07/2019 09:28

Much cooler here this morning, but it was 27°C in my bedroom when I woke up. A fan with a remote control is a wondeful invention! I'm downstairs cooking now with the back door wide open now. Very overcast and mackerel clouds.

ClashCityRocker · 26/07/2019 09:37

Last night was absolutely unbearable. Its raining here and I've never been so glad. Still warm but less muggy. I am going for a walk in the rain now!

Cotonshaded · 26/07/2019 09:45

Driving through France yesterday my car thermometer registered 42C around Reims - insanely hot getting out of the car! Currently lurking inside our hotel to enjoy the aircon and look after my dog who's chilling on a cool mat. Much too hot for either of us to go safely out....not quite what I imagined for a holiday but safety first!

Emmabryant123 · 26/07/2019 10:04

Ugh I had high hopes for today but it's still roasting inside
Better outside though

GloriaSmud · 26/07/2019 10:49

Weather warning for rain tomorrow and Sunday.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/07/2019 10:51

I've created a separate thread for that Gloria :)

I wondered whether a new thread might be needed, OYBBK, just as I pressed the 'post message' button! Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/07/2019 10:54

lol. I do that all the time. It's so hard to know when to branch out on to the next thread when it's a continuous story with parallel events.

It’s a bit of sun not toxic rain perfectly safe to go out!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/07/2019 12:41

This isn't AIBU and this isn't a thread for arguing about what others feel is safe for them personally. There are other threads you can take your grumpiness out on.

We need an applauding emoticon 👍

AvengerDanvers95 · 26/07/2019 12:58

It feels quite cool today but the outside thermometer disagrees.

I was just thinking how it still feels quite hot outside Grin I think my internal thermostat must be a bit broken.

ClashCityRocker · 26/07/2019 13:13

Certainly feels very warm still here...much warmer than the temp is telling me it should be. The rain did sweet fa to freshen things up.

Delatron · 26/07/2019 13:21

Yes it’s still so humid. I went for the first run I’d been for all week thinking it had cows down enough bit still dripping in sweat.

Tomorrow looks nice and cool. Never thought I’d say that but rain for the parkrun is welcome!!

Delatron · 26/07/2019 13:21

Cooled down! Not cows..
