Something to really watch. GFS model is really looking a bit crackers next week with high temps of perhaps 35c mid week and night minima in the mid 20s. I'll post more tomorrow, but it doesn't look like the traditional school holiday cool down

Yes I saw that, much as I love the heat I know a lot of folk don't.

SunsetBunny · 17/07/2019 22:35

Doesn’t look like Cornwall will be affected much?
Are you able to promise that whatever happens it will stay dry? Pleeeease!

TapasForTwo · 17/07/2019 22:37

Paul Hudson is forecasting 26 degrees for us. Perfect Smile

madeyemoodysmum · 17/07/2019 22:37

How about Norfolk

RosaWaiting · 17/07/2019 22:41

I’ve just been worrying about this, no air con at work, Tube to work on the older deeper lines, flat hotter than hell.

Is it looking certain?

Mum has more hospital tests this week, I really hope there are no call backs (we have been getting urgent call backs) for the heatwave. Also she has heart problems so I will have to make sure she’s okay.

ContactLight · 17/07/2019 22:43

Oh. Great. I have booked the week off work to get a load of work done in the garden and have a massive clearout & change-around in the house. I'm going to be dripping in sweat aren't I?!

ExpletiveDelighted · 17/07/2019 22:53

Oh, I do hope not. This week has been plenty warm enough for me.

stayathomegardener · 17/07/2019 22:57

We need to cut the last of the hay @OhYouBadBadKitten when I asked you about this last year it triggered the heatwave so saying nothing... just watching.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 17/07/2019 23:01

Well of course there’ll be a heatwave, I’m on holiday, abroad. I fly back in late on the 29th, so normal service should resume on the 30th Wink.

TapasForTwo · 17/07/2019 23:05

So, it's a heatwave in London, and summer for everyone else then?

TokyoSushi · 17/07/2019 23:09

Checking in, thank as always OYBBK, it'll soon be time for snow watch!

sweetkitty · 17/07/2019 23:12

Raining in Scotland as usual then?

tunabakedpotato · 17/07/2019 23:23

@sweetkitty my thoughts exactly Grin

NomDeQwerty · 18/07/2019 06:07

Place marking for news.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/07/2019 07:25

I'm out this morning, promise to update properly later, hard to see details on my phone. But the hot weather is still there, starting on Monday, by Tuesday into Wednesday everywhere looks very hot away perhaps from Western coasts. Some very high overnight temps. After Wednesday it looks as though temps will fall back to more moderate temperatures. So it may be a short lived heatwave. More later :)

Rosa, I hope it's not too bad for your Mum. It's good if you can plan ahead.

Also place marking.

Supersimpkin · 18/07/2019 07:55

Me too. My Aged Parents with dicky tickers and contrary ways no doubt will react to news by planning to climb trees in Hyde Park, or similar.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 18/07/2019 08:00

Following.

Georgiemcgeorgeface · 18/07/2019 08:02

Uk holiday booked for us next week so I'll be happy for a heatwave!

cardyop · 18/07/2019 09:34

Placemarking. Hope it's not the start of 3 months of madness or something!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/07/2019 20:46

The models are swinging quite wildly between moderate warmth, extreme heat for a couple of days, extreme heat through most of next week. Take your pick. It's possible the all time July record could fall. Again.

There's also potential for some potent thunderstorms. So I can't give specifics I'm afraid, either for exact location (but it does look especially severe around London) or how long it may last but it is a week to watch. If you need to buy a fan, or paddling pool then it might be a good time (but don't blame me if it goes tits up Grin )

I'll post another update tomorrow.

My local London forecast has now amended to say it will be about 32 Mon to Wed, then storms and drop to 22 on Thursday. That’s better than what it said yesterday.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/07/2019 21:00

I wouldn't place too much store in that at present Rosa. It's better to be prepared.

How is the Scottish weather looking OP?
