So we've only watched the first episode, but so far I'm not feeling it.

The (grown up) children are a bit "try hard" in their comedy, but I'm really hoping it gets better, as everyone else seems to love it and I was really looking forward to it.

Yes, it really does. I found the first season quite tiresome as the Roses are at their least lovable and you kind of think 'if this was revolutionary France, you'd all be getting the guillotine, you whiny aristos'.

The show really picks up at the end of season 1 and beginning of season 2, and is a real treat from then on.

I might try it again then. Everyone raves about it on here but I watched an episode or two and it didn't click for me.

Yes! It's hilarious. Just stick with it, it's one of those things you need to just keep watching. I took a break from it during the last series and when I went back to watch it I felt like I had to start from the beginning again to get back into it! Which was weird because I genuinely think it's one of the best programmes I've watched!

I just love it! Started early December and now on series 6!! It's addictive, Nd wonderfully stupidly funny.

Place-marking because I have only watched episode 1 and it was one of the worst things I've ever seen. It's hard to suspend my disbelief that it can improve that much and I'm reluctant to dedicate the time to it.

It took me 2 or 3 to get into it but I'm SO glad I stuck with it.

I pressed Netflix's new shuffle button as I'm incapable of choosing anything to watch, this is what it landed on. First couple of episodes I could take or leave, then I quite liked it, and then I loved it! I feel quite bereft now I've finished it to be honest and have definitely considered just starting again from the beginning.

So that was a longwinded way of saying yes, it does get better!

People who love it, what other comedy do you like? Maybe it's just not my cup of tea.

Yeah, I'm in this boat, found episode 1 unfunny with crude caricature characters. Maybe I'll give it another go if I get bored enough (which is likely).

Oh gosh, I stopped watching after 10 minutes, honestly, I thought it was atrocious.

Should I try again?

Oh stick with it, I had exactly the same response and needed to be really, really scratching around for something before I tried again.
I'm now binge watching it every evening, limiting myself to 4 episodes a night.

I was very much WTF at first but stuck with it...not many programmes make me actually laugh out loud but this did, many times!

Oh, it does get better. Stick with it. I'm another one that did the first couple of episodes and ditched it, gave it another go and loved it. It's heart warming and so funny.

Good to see this. We stopped after episode one as found it really stupid and not one bit funny. But we have finished the US Office which we loved and are missing something to while away an evening laughing at- particularly needed during this dreary January!

If we liked US Office, Arrested Development... will we like this?

You so need to stick with it, DH and I watched it for about 6 episodes before he gave up. A few weeks later I was bored and stuck it on...not sure when the tide turned for me but honestly I was gutted when it ended. I've convinced DH to give it another go but I think it doesn't really find its groove until season 2.
