Sandals for schlepping for miles around city streets

Any recs? Tan, black or grey and as comfortable as humanly possible without looking like my gran would wear them. Absolutely no to Fitflops, Ecco, or anything that looks as if Millets might sell it. Not totally flat, and ideally with some nice squidginess in them. Not flip flops and no toe post. Must have straps and not just be slider things or mules.

No more than £60 and would prefer less, as they'll get wrecked quite quickly.

I may well be asking the impossible.

Naot natural footcare have some very nice 'city' type sandals. Excellent shaped soles and comfortable uppers, stylish and great choice of colours.

They aren't all that easy to find in the UK, and they're pricey, but worth it in my experience. I am evangelical about the pair I have now, which were the result of a long search for something comfortable but not either ugly or hiking type sandals.

Gertie - I've posted those on here several times, because I am a bit in love with them. But they are not squishy enough for current needs. I might get them for work instead.

I hate Birkies - too wide for me, and hard and I just don't like the look of them either tbh.

Oh and real highstreet shops only please. Clarks would be ideal but I haven't seen anything on there that I really like the look of.

Ok so these are flat but they are lovely & they do come in a tan colour. I just bought some in the brown today. Other stockists are available - I believe Selfridges for example.

Aha. You looked at Merrell? Admittedly, they do mostly have the "walking sandal" look, but a lot of them are a lot more attractive than the selection at Millets! I have a pair I got on a beach holiday about 7 years ago & have worn a lot, including in the sea, they are still going strong.

Don't like those sorry, Traviata. And they are v expensive too.

These in tan?. Yes moshulu has some really frumpy styles but these are ok and very comfy.

Can you track down any Sam Edelman on Yoox or the like? They are always padded. My Adenas are, I think, my most comfy shoes. The padding is bliss. M&S might have some good options, too?
